Like a Trip to Paris
Dining at Claudine is like taking a little trip to France. It's a cozy bistro-style atmosphere with a small staff and open kitchen. The service is casual but professional. Our favorite dishes were the cauliflower cream soup, the white beans and the skirt steak salad. The carafes of wine make it easy to try something new without a risk.

This is the second time I've
This is the second time I've eaten lunch at Claudine, & found a new menu. The service was delightful, & the eggplant sandwich, & Brussel sprout side dish were both very good. I would return. I've also had a delicious dinner there.

The meatball soup is recommended.
The meatball soup is recommended. We appreciated that the server divided the portioo into two bowls so that we could share it.

The menu changes every week.
The menu changes every week. Missed the pork belly; alas, I guess I'll have to come back.

Claudine continues to please
Claudine has been and continues to be a wonderful addition to our downtown neighborhood....from a casual lunch to the nicely priced happy hour wines...so very happy to have a place like Claudine to,pop in to....

Great ambiance and interesting menu
Claudine has pretty cool bar sitting, with about 8 spots. The tables are a tad close to each other, but we were there late and it wasn't very crowded. The pate platter was awesome!

Cracking design, great service, perfect food. Enough choices on the menu and wine list, but not too many. And in response to another reviewer: with all due respect, it is very, very French.

food was very good, service
food was very good, service was also very good, and the one complaint that we have is that if you ask for bread , you are charged one dollar. It seems that if you spend one hundred dollars for two people for dinner, charging a dollar for bread is a mistake

Very well prepared and presented with very light seasoning. Very fresh from the garden. I personally ordered four different courses and was not dissapointed in any way. I give my first experience at this restaurant the highest rating and can only say that about a handful of restaurants in San Francisco.. Can't wait to go back.

Claudine gets it
Not many restaurants can boast a great location, interesting menu, decent prices, smart staff, cool ambiance and no attitude but Claudine does and that's why we are going back!

Earlier this evening I tried Claudine near Union Square. I had the soup du jour followed by the Porc a L'Ail. The chilled soup was simply sublime! I asked my server for a recommended wine pair for my meal and she recommended a Syrah. The wine was a bit young, but the "peppery" note (as mentioned by my server) truly complimented the main dish. The food was excellent and the service was great. Definitely a neighborhood gem!

Very good food & Friendly server
The cheese plate was great! The salad and entrees were very good. The server made many recommendations and was very knowledgeable about the wines and cheeses on the menu. She was very friendly and helpful. I will be back to try other entrees on the menu!

Great Place Great Food
Came around 2:30p all tired, hungry and grumpy. Although I could have eaten any junk food at that time, we decided to do yelp and see if there are great places around.
Once there, we were greeted by one of the warmest, helpful and friendliest person called Ilham. Me being gluten intolerant, Ilham went above and beyond, not only to explain the details of the menu, but also made sure we had the most delicious gluten free meal. Its a cute airy place with lot of natural light.
A definite come back for me :)

Claudine was a great choice for a last-minute dinner with my girlfriends on a Friday evening. I made reservations over OpenTable, but asked in the notes if we could be squeezed in earlier. They called me early in the day and offered me my choice of times in their patio, which it seems like is regularly only walk-ins. The service was great, patient, and casual; the heater made the patio comfortable. The food was also delicious; we had to ask for two refills on bread for our cheese and pate. They happily complied and even explained their bread policy before we ordered anything. (Bread is provided with the appropriate appetizer and refilled as desired, but is $1 with no app.) The gnocchi was awesome with obvious flakes of fleur de sel... yum.

I had the salmon and a cabernet
I had the salmon and a cabernet sauvignon -- both delicious. I didn't get desert but the rhubarb pie sounded very summer-appropriate. The waitstaff was very professional and knowledgeable about their menu. Thanks, Claudine's!

Revivingly good food
A good friend had his parents visiting and asked me to recommend a place to meet them for lunch. My friend was also feeling a touch under the weather, so I insisted we go to Claudine's where he could have the wonderful meatball soup with carrots and kale. All of us enjoyed the soup along with excellent roast chicken and gnocchi. The service was amiable, and I'm a big fan of the music selections (largely 60s R&B). We lingered without feeling at all rushed, and the noise level was low enough that conversation was easy. I'll be back as often as I can.

Wonderful server named Hannah who worked the menu for the three of us like a magician!!

The reviews were a bit hit or miss, but my wife and I had an excellent dinner there that balanced great food, excellent wine and quality service. Even the prices were quite reasonable.
We split a few salads (Tomate and green salad were great) but the STANDOUT was the meatball soup - not to be missed.

Claudine is the perfect post-work spot for a glass or two of wine and small plates with coworkers or cozy date-night. The small space is really charming and the staff is super friendly and accommodating.

Reliably good modern French cuisine
I have eaten at Claudine's many times, and I've never been disappointed. The menu is small and eclectic, but everything is first rate. I especially like their meatball and kale soup and their Croque Claudine. If you order a diet Come, you get a French brand, which is excellent.

Claude lane offers a nice variety of french inspired eating options. Claudines anchors the alleys end, offering inside tables, subject to horrendous loud noise problems, or outdoor tables which are pleasant in decent weather. The menu consists of small plates and large plates. Even the large plates are modestly portioned. Items favor french favorities like pork and chicken, and ever popular mussels. Items are tasty, infused with generous amounts of garlic. Only wine and beer ore offered. This is a nice option for a minor variation, mostly in venue, to one of the other eateries along the lane.

I love Claudine's. The food
I love Claudine's. The food is always yummy, beautifully presented and satisfying. This is one of my favorite lunch spots.

We really enjoyed an early dinner here. The service was friendly and happy to oblige, and the food was quite a surprise. I had the chicken which was anything but humdrum. The chicken itself was exactly how you want your own chicken to turn out (mine however never does) juicy, flavorful, paired with bread salad that was so unexpected and SO flavorful (but not overpowering). Wine list wasn't too long to manage, and there were some very reasonably priced bottle options (always appreciate that).
I'll go back.

This was a great find on a recent trip to San Francisco. Highlight was the warm and welcoming demeanor of the server and hostess. Food excellent.

Great little place!
We had a lovely meal here as a family. The food was excellent and the service was superb. The menu is rather short, but it was well done. The large square bar was as popular as the tables for eating.

Perfect for business lunch
Great little spot for business meeting over lunch. Lovely food and ambience.

Claudine was really good. Great location for parking garages and theater. Nice menu.

salads are amazing
Try the kale salad. No -- just order it and be amazed. Everything was top notch although the waiter seemed surprised Inwanted to order the salad and the salmon entree. I allowed him to talk me into the meatball soup instead. It was very nice but the salmon preparation did sound more interesting. Wines are by the glass and some unusual things are offered. Don't skip dessert here either. Wine is what pulls the whole thing together at Ckaudine. Save room for Sauternes.

Charming and delicious
A very small French restaurant right on the corner of Claude Lane and Bush St in the heart of the French District. Modern decor, food with riffs on traditional French cuisine. Our meal was delicious.

Local, fresh, french. I love it. The mussels were amazing, I love how they make their own stuff. It's great.

Fabulous sister to Cafe Claude!
I love Cafe Claude. It's one of my favorite places, but I just wanted to try something a bit different. Claudine was a perfect match. The food is as wonderful as her sister, Cafe Claude. Other interesting options, a little less traditional, a bit better on the price point. Great wines at very good prices. Options of smaller plates, which the kate salad is not although fabulous! We will visit Claudine again!
