The room is beautiful and
The room is beautiful and the performance lineup amazing. However, they could not locate our reservation at first; apparently there are both dining and performance lists. The service was lackluster. The menu and the room were lovely.

During a recent trip to New
During a recent trip to New York we wanted to visit some iconic places so chose 54 below. What we liked: good food, ambiance and live music. The jazz trio during dinner were excellent. We didn't see the main show as we had theatre tickets. What we didn't like: being approached by the head of the Linda Eder fan club for a online review. We were not there for Ms Eder's show and are not fans. That seemed very tacky to be asked this when we were there for a quiet dinner. Also being asked to get up to allow the bass player to get to the stage with his instrument just after being seated. The restaurant was empty when we arrived so why place us in that position? Overall a good night with two unwelcome distractions.

A Home Away From Home
54 Below is the Platonic ideal of a Broadway cabaret. Great entertainment combined with an interesting menu and fine food and great service (a recently defunct cabaret failed for food and service and price). Prices reasonable for what you get and what can I say about Barbara Cook?! Sublime. Moving. Great singing, acting, truth telling. Will I go back. Of course. And for many many others as well as every time Barbara Cook takes stage. The decor is delightful (truly full of delight) and is what you get when Broadway talent is designing the room, the lights, the sound, the space.

Pure class, 54 Below is tops.
Great atmosphere, polite service, amazing food. We loved our experience at 54 Below. We went for pre-theater dinner and the live Jazz music was outstanding, and not so loud that it kept us from conversation. This place is a classic, must go location for Broadway lovers.

Studio 54 finds a new niche
This was my first time at studio 54 below. The food, the service, the atmosphere, the music, in a nutshell amazing. My partner and i went based on a recommendation of a friend. I had no idea what to expect and the cabaret shows that evening were sold out so we just grabbed dinner. The place was a wonderful surprise. And the jazZ ensemble was the perfect pairing with dinner. It is def on my list of places I will return to when visiting the big apple. Food prices where perfect for such an elegant place and not out of moderate range. And the servers for us that night were impeccable. Loved it!!!

Is THE hotspot
A great find and if we didn't have a show to go to would have stayed the entire night. The food excellent, the venue excellent, the entertainment outstanding. Best Value in New York. Only regret...we ate elsewhere on our final night in the city.

My husband & I went to 54 Below for dinner before a show, I booked them through Open Table. I hadn't heard of this restaurant so I took a chance. When we entered we were blown away by the decor which has that roaring 20's speakeasy motif. The service and food was great, would definitely return there.

bright spot on a rainy night
I took my out-of-towners here for a pre-theater dinner. We loved the food and the attentiveness of the owner. The food was excellent. A birthday cake was delivered to our table. The presentation was classy and also delicious. We will definitely be back, probably for the show.

This was a surprise for us
This was a surprise for us - it is the former Studio 54. The setting is like it was in its heyday. There was a show later on in the evening; we did not stay for that. We arrived just as it opened. The entrance is down a flight of stairs, so we had to get someone to get us down via an elevator. Once that was done, we waited a few minutes before the dining room opened. The woman who waited on us was very attentive. I ordered the skirt steak which was quite good. We had coffee afterwards, but no dessert. Dinner was not that expensive given the venue; it ran about $100.00. .Banquettes rather than regular chairs were set up for most of the seating. There were long tables set up for the show. It was a good place to get the NYC flair.

Pre theatre dining
Food was amazing as well as the ambiance. Recommend this place as a perfect dining experience for a night out on Broadway.

More of a Dinner and a Show Place
We had dinner at 54 Below because it had good ratings on Open Table. We didn't realize this was more of a dinner and a show place and not just a restaurant as we had expected. There is a stage for bands (Jazz, Cabaret, etc.) in the front of the dining room. We were looking for more of a straight dinner joint so we were surprised by this and didn't see this well advertised on Open Table. That said, the food and service were very good. The steak tartar as an appetizer is great and the Ratatouille and Risotto were also very good. I would recommend this place but more so if you want the whole experience with their show. We left to go to our show on Broadway after dinner but it would have been nice to get the whole experience at 54 Below.

The food was great, the service was great and the jazz trio that was playing that night was great. It was a fun experience and we would definitely go back again.

Supper club with excellent food
54 Below is a downstairs restaurant with a band stand and closely spaced tables that offers surprisingly good food, well priced.

Dinner & a Show!
We went here for dinner before going out to the theater and they were very well timed to get us out on time without us feeling rushed. Also, the food was delicious!! This place does shows at night which I want to go back for, and a lot of times places that have this kind of "dinner and a show" theme, don't have great food, but they did! The mac & cheese was amazing, one of the best I've had in the city (and I've had a lot!).
Definitely recommend it, either with the show or before going to a different theater!

Pre-Theatre at 54 Below
We were seeing Big Fish on 52nd so stopped at 54 Below for a meal. For me, the Manhattan was tasty and the fish was delicious and just enough. We both had plum sorbet for dessert, which was yummy and light. Service was very good, although I'm not certain I finished my drink before it was taken away! The decor is well done, the lighting comfortable yet still bright enough to easily read. Rather more expensive than I would have liked or consider necessary, but the location is so good I'm sure that won't stop anyone.

Good Pre-Theater Stop
Made our pre-theater reservation at the suggestion of OpenTable.com as the restaurant was walking distance from our hotel. The descent from street level helped the anticipation. Restaurant was well-lit with a red-velvety feel that belies it's existence as a performance music venue. We decided to go with the three course prix-fixe menu, entrees consisting of two choices, halibut or hanger steak. Both were delicious; the portions were on the small side. The only disappointment was the "wine pairing" with dinner. We were offered a choice of a red or a white and that was it for the meal, not a pairing of courses, although dessert was paired with a delicious tawny port. All in all, a good value. Another time would stay for the show.

Charming and relaxed
Fantastic service. Good food recommendations. Pre-theater dinner was perfect. Highly recommend. Halibut, lobster, and hangar steak were all great.

Different and delightful!
54 Below, a wonderful cabaret, is not just for entertainment. The pre-theater dinner is perfect for those who are not staying for the early show there, but going on to City Center or someplace else in the area. Reservations may be made for 5 p.m., insuring a leisurely meal before leaving for a 7 p.m. curtain. The service is friendly and efficient, but you don't feel rushed. The menu is not extensive, but there are enough choices to satisfy different tastes, and the results are delicious.

Convenient to theater
Tried this place because of Open Table. From welcoming as we entered to gracious service to delicious food, it was a wonderful experience...and not too noisy at 6PM. The squash soup and rattitoile with boiled egg atop was one of most delicious dished I'd ever eaten, a
