Must in Houston
Lucio's has become a personal favorite during my visits to Houston and a favorite for those that have taken my recommendation and tried for themselves.

Wine and food make the meal
More restaurants like this that provide a superior dining experience while charging a fair corkage fee to bring in your own wine. The food is inventive with unique ingredients and the waitstaff explains the dishes in a thorough enthusiastic manner. We enjoy and collect great wine so being able to pair it with wonderful food is a treat. We'll be back.

My book club met there for dinner and we were seated outside as we had requested. Everything was great. We were not rushed at all and we had a leisurely, lovely dinner. The food and service were great.

Food was all well prepared and thoughtfully presented. Great option for a restaurant of this quality that they allow you to BYOB. But be aware-the kitchen is small and can be easily overwhelmed. Just be prepared if you're there in the main dinner hour, some wait for your food may be involved. But also keep in mind as you wait, that for an $8 corkage, you're able to sip on your $100 bottle of wine that would be $300 elsewhere on a wine list and you'll be happy with your plate when it arrives.

We always have a wonderful
We always have a wonderful dinner here, and love that it's byob. The patio is the perfect spot for a romantic dinner for two. The service is top notch and good is amazing. We love the ahi tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes as well as the filet as our favorite dishes.

We had an enjoyable dinner. We sat outside and the food was delicious.

My wife & needed a quiet evening
My wife & needed a quiet evening together, & we got it! Our food was fantastic (highly recommend the crab tower and duck dishes!). Service was perfect. Always there when we needed her but not all over us. We'll be back!!

We went with a group of 6
We went with a group of 6 and we were there on the early side. The restaurant was not busy and staff was attentive
We all love BYOB! Everyone enjoyed their dinner and we all raved about the calamari appetizer Try the crab cakes too!
5/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is the best BYOB in Houston. You can also purchase wine and beer there. The food is excellent with sea bass, tuna, filet of beef, vegetarian. Setting is an remodeled old home on Taft near downtown but walls have contemporary art pieces updated periodically. Outdoor patio is very contemporary and fun! Loved the scallops and risotto!

Great Friday night in Midtown
My husband, young adult son and I enjoyed a really nice dining experience. We didn't take advantage of the BYOB, but we will next time. We did have a really good bottle of wine from their wine list. We started with fried calimari and crab cackes which were both delicious. My son had the filet and loved it. I hade the vegetarian offering which was creative and quite tastey. My husband ordered the ahi tuna which is his favorite meal, and he was not at all disappointed. The service was attentive, and they were patient with us as we lingered after the meal visiting with our son. We definitely will return.

Dinner and a Show
Met four other ladies for a delightful dinner before a show at Stages Theater. Everyone loved the food and the ability to bring your own wine. The corkage fee is reasonable as well. All in all....a delightful evening.

Dinner before TUTS

Always top quality meals and impecable service. The specials are world class. Don't know how they consistently come up with such great dishes!
6/18/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great food and very freindly
Great food and very freindly staff. Party of four on our way to the Alley for a play and they got us out the door in time. Our freinds had the fish special which they loved and we had the duck and scallops. Both were outstanding.

Wonderful every time!
This is a place that we depend on - great food, service and ambience every time we go. Intimate, friendly, relaxed - we always know whether we're having a little date-night dinner out or entertaining guests, we will enjoy this place and its great food. Being one of the few BYOB places around - yet so nice - is a definite plus. Saying it's a "neighborhod gem" is such an understatement.
6/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
One of the best BYOB's
They are aiways very accommodating for group dinners. Makes it a very fun experience!
6/26/2013 4:00:00 PM
filet mignon was very good
My filet mignon was very good. The butternut squash had little flavor and was an extremely small portion. The crabcakes were bad. Do not recommend them.
6/28/2013 4:00:00 PM
This is a small, quaint restaurant. I love the BYOB option! The food is fantastic. I especially love the Hanger Steak and the scallops. The snapper is also a great option. Great place!
7/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went with a friend because looking for BYOB and good rating. We had scallops ans sea bass special. Both were cooked perfectly. Great salads and panacotta. VERYwell done!
7/17/2013 5:00:00 PM
Went to Lucio's before the symphony, so it was an early dinner. The staff was a little slow, but the food was excellent. We also had to kiddo's with us, 4 and 7. they were not set up for kids in any manner, but were accomadating in their orders. BYOB is great, but do have a modest corkage fee of $8 for the table. I will definitely return.
7/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Not our first time.
My wife and I love this place, and this visit was to celebrate our anniversary. The food is always great and my wife loves being able to bring our own wine into a really nice restaurant. It has a great cozy little dinning room. The service has been a lot better in past trips, but the slow service this time won't keep us from coming back. Two great entries, (I had the filet and my wife the snapper) an appetizer and a corking fee cost $88.
7/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
One of the best in Houston!
This has been one of our favorite spots - and off the radar for many - for years. Great food and service AND BYOB.
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Delicious simple fresh food
Delicious food, simply cooked and served with professionalism and a smile.
8/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lucio's is just want of my favorite BYOB go to places. The food and service are always good. One of our favorite things to order is the beef carpaccio as well as the scallops. John is back behind the grill again and is always trying out new ideas. Take your favorite bottle of wine and enjoy!
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Been coming here for years,
Been coming here for years, love our waiter Milton, and love the food. Always good and being BYOB, tops it off.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent service and wonderful food. The byob option is awesome!
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
Heard about it from friends
I have heard about this place for awhile from some friends. Finally went before we went to the Hobby Center to see a show. The food was a little slow to come out (We were the only people there at 6pm on a Thursday night). When it did come out, it was excellent. The wine was very inexpensive ($8 corking fee isn't bad if you want to bring your own too). My pork loin meal was amazing. Will definitely be back!
9/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
My Husband and I love BYOB restaurants. This is one of our favorites. I love either the pork chop or the filet. My Husband loves the chicken. The food is excellent. The wait staff is extraordinary. It is a small place and you must make reservations.
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
we love finding good food where we can bring our own wine...and this one ranks up there in terms of food. tables are a bit close so noise level can be challenging with tile floors, but when the back deck is open and the weather is nice, it will be stellar, so we plan to go back later this fall and try the outdoor dining option (not checked above as the deck was not being served on the night we went). the key will be if the small kitchen and attentive waitstaff will be able to handle outdoors and inside together. Seared tuna...excellent; filet...good flavor and cooked to perfection; salmon enjoyed by other guest but i did not taste it.; the sides are not anything special but allow the entree to shine.
we will be back and will recommend.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Have been here a number of times but have never been disappointed.
Couldn't recommend highly enough.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Menu will appeal to Foodies but is also vegetarian friendly. BYOB is a plus.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
If you are a serious wine person, the Lucio's is the place. The allow BYOB with very reasonable corkage and have excellent wine service including plenty of ice buckets, and Riedel stemware. The service is efficient and friendly and the food is very wine-friendly. This is my favorite place for BYOB and the relaxed atmosphere is great for sitting and sharing great wines.
10/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
We tried this restaurant because we had a discount voucher. We are glad that we did! My scallops and my friend's filet were cooked perfectly and both of these items are easy to overcook. Friendly staff. Would definately go there again.
10/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
Better than restaurant next door
I personally don't understand the fuss given to the restaurant(s) next door to Lucio's. Each time my husband and I have gone to Lucio's the food has been excellent and beautifully presented. This last time I had the grouper special and my husband had the snapper from the menu. Both fish were perfectly cooked, with the outside slightly crispy and the interior flaky and tender. My spring mix salad with julienned apple slices and goat cheese lightly breaded and deep fried was fantastic Sure Lucio's isn't in the Top 100 of Bon Appetit magazine, but I prefer its unpretentious cuisine to some of the restaurants on the various lists. And we can bring wines such as Gigondas and Chateuneuf-du-Pape without spending a fortune..
10/15/2013 5:00:00 PM
Everything was great acorn squash soup was very tasty, the bass and scallops were delicious, asparagus was nice but only two spears. Otherwise everything was great.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food, BYOB
The food was delicious. I had the house salad and hanger steak. My boyfriend had the soup du jour and ribeye. Everything was great including the service. It's nice to be able to bring our wine.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food, terrific service, wonderfully quiet - delightful spot to reconnect with friends and have a real conversation. Highly recommend it.
10/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
Consistenly good food
Every time we've been to Lucio's the food has been great. This time for lunch my husband had the crab risotto and I had the lobster pasta. Both were fantastic.
10/24/2013 5:00:00 PM
What a Gem!
This was a great place with very good food. The place is small, but comfortable. It was easy to have conversation with a hint of music playing in the background. They offer an outdoor patio area for al fresco dining. It's a great place for a romantic dinner. I especially liked being able to bring my own wine for a small cork fee, although they do offer a selection of wines by the glass or bottle. The wait staff is attentive, but more on the European pace. Hence, if you're in a hurry, you may need to tell them in advance.
I'm really glad I tried this place. Plus they have free valet.
10/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Cool spot, great food!
This place is next to Pass/Provisions, and is pretty discrete on the outside. The inside is small but very nice, I'd recommend making a reservation. Their food is really outstanding, and high quality. I ended up ordering the crabcake for an appetizer, and we shared a steak and a salmon dish, both outstanding and perfectly cooked, with good portion sizes. They have wine list, but it is also BYOB and you can bring your own wine. Kind of fancy but also sort of casual without being too snooty. I'd definitely come back!
10/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Let me start by saying that Cory did an outstanding job taking care of us on Monday. I went for dinner around 6:30 planning to seat on the patio, but it was raining so we sat inside. I order the soup of the day which was good but I think it was lacking salt and pepper. My date order the caprese salad but it look it was just thrown on the plate. We did enjoy the filet mignon and the halibut. Around 8:30 the rain had stop so we decided to move outside to finish our wine. Cory was very accommodating to making sure we were ok outside. He took the time in drying the chairs that we would be seating on. Definitely will go back and ask for Cory.

The dishes are well prepared
The dishes are well prepared but we love being able to bring our own wine.

It had been a while since
It had been a while since we had dined at Lucio's, however, we have always enjoyed its BYOB policy--currently an $8 corkage fee. Over the last year or so, Lucio's has also added its own wine list should you not want to bring your own. While the food was as good as we remembered, two things seemed to have changed for the worse: the portion sizes [especially entrees] have grown smaller while the prices have gone up.
We started with the soup of the day and with the goat cheese/apple salad. Both were as good as we remembered. Entrees were the scallops and the fish of the day [grouper on this day]. The scallops used to come 4 to an order and are now 3. The sides with the grouper were two bites each. Food was tasty but just less than b4

Lucio's never disappoints...
As usual, Lucio's delivered a fantastic meal with wonderful service! We eat at Lucio's every other month or so, and the experience is what I have come to expect. An attentive waitstaff, a varied menu, and a very affordable corkage fee all make for a wonderful dining experience.

A nice Fall evening dining outside
We chose outdoor seating on our visit to Lucio's in November. It was a beautiful evening with a full moon! My husband and I shared the crab cakes as an appetizer. They were very good. The minute I put my fork into mine, I could smell the yummy crab. The interior of the cake was soft (almost like mashed potatoes), but the exterior was crispy. I had the prosciutto wrapped pork chop with spaetzle and asparagus for my entree. My husband enjoyed the grilled scallops with butternut squash risotto. Overall delicious experience! Would definitely go again.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Good every time
My wife and I have been to Lucio's a half dozen times. The food is always great as well as the service. Back patio is nice, and BYOB is always a plus.
11/17/2013 4:00:00 PM
Best kept secret
I don't want it to change! Everything was great. My only wish would be for a larger table for more elbow room.
11/19/2013 4:00:00 PM
Corey Was Fabulous
Corey was our attendant for the evening, Girls night out. He ensured our needs were handled expeditiously . It's not easy to ensure six women have all there needs met when it comes to dining out. We are a fun bunch, we meet at a local restaurant in Houston once a month and will definitely be back. Our spouses need to experience this.
Thanks, the food was superb, the atmosphere was fabulous and the customer service was without a doubt top notch.

Great before theatre location
My mother and I had a lovely dinner prior to the Houston Symphony Performance. It was away from the usual downtown rush, yet still a great location. We had a very nice meal, with some of our favorite things. I would higly recommend Lucio's. It was our first visit, but it won't be our last!

Maybe the best BYOB In City
An excellent menu, with great just not excellent food. However, a great menu for foodies and conservative eaters alike. Seafood is definitely their best. Service staff is attentive and very knowledgable about menu and the Chefs thoughts for the day.
I think it has surpassed Just Dinner as the best BYOB in Houston. Desserts are remarkable.
