Cool and Nice - Not Stuffy
I had a wonderful experience at White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails. The food was great, the restaurant was full of business professionals during lunch and the staff was very helpful in walking me through the (new) menu.
I would definitely recommend this placed for lunch, dinner and/or cocktails. The feel of the restaurant is very cool and its a nicer restaurant without being too pricey or stuffy!

From a relatively limited
From a relatively limited menu came a surprisingly good evening. I had been there for lunch (also very good)and this was a last minute dinner reservation. The short ribs were wonderful and the fried chicken terrific. A beet salad large enough to share and a right-sized goat cheese cheesecake completed the meal. This is a place worth trying.

Great lunch menu. Did not
Great lunch menu. Did not visit during dinner. The special stew that they had instead of the soup on the 22nd was outstanding. Also had the Pheasant salad which the portion was spot on!! Great for business or even lunch date. Only draw back was it was noisy.

A must when visiting Atlanta
Both the cocktail and food menu were inventive and interesting. Although a gin martini purist, I enjoyed the muddled blackberry martini made with berry vodka. The fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese was a treat. Best of all was the vegetarian offering. Who knew a dish without meat could tast so good. Our waitress was outstanding, friendly and throughly knowledgeable about the menu. The menus change with market availability keeping everything fresh and new.

Excellent food, service and location. We had a dinner meeting with outside contractors from Knoxville TN. We were all impressed with your restuarant.

First time at White Oak
.. but won't be the last! The food was excellent, not only delicious but visually appealing. Special compliments to the chef! The restaurant is casually elegant and our server was very attentive even when large groups arrived throughout the evening.

Superb experience for my Birthday!
White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails' lives up to it name. The decor is crisp, clean, and bright-relying heavily on beautiful white out paneling and fixtures that are complimented by large windows along the way outside walls. Their list of cocktails is extensive and interesting including drinks with moonshine. The food is exciting and oh-so-yummy! I highly recommended the potted shrimp starter and the fried chicken entree.

Erin, our server, was very knowledgable and attentive. Thank you!

Southern Farm to Table Done Right
I've eaten at a lot of Southern farm to table restaurants in Atlanta. This one, by far, suited my palate the best. Fried chicken is raved about at several different restaurants, and I've tried them at those places (JCT Kitchen, Chicken & the Egg, and Buckhead Diner to name three), and I've either marginally enjoyed them or actually found them dry. White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails is one of the 2 best fried chicken places I've ever had, the second being Feed. I know fried chicken, like so many other dishes, is highly subjective, but I just wanted to throw that out there in case anyone could use an alternate opinion :) So anyway, everything else was good too. Try this place, I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Beautiful Dining Room!
The dining room was spectacular - open, airy and distinctive yet not noisy. I enjoyed the biscuit croutons on the salad and the shrimp dish had a savory sauce that made it more a stew than a traditional main. The cornbread was disappointing because it was a sweet recipe. My server was nice although a little disappointed that I didn't order wine and dessert.
It is a nice alternative in the Atlanta downtown dining scene, but there are better options in Midtown or Buckhead.

The food and service was excellent! The restaurant was not busy on a Saturday night (rare), White Oak did not disappoint. Kevin was a phenominal waiter and took great care of our every need. The bartender created some amazing drinks and the food was impeccable! We would definitely come back again.

would def go back...everything we tried was delicious, the wait staff was very friendly and attentive and the decor was gorgeous...such great scenery for a lovely dinner. Sunday evening was a great time to go!

Great service with a product
Great service with a product that is crafted by individuals who must be devoted to their art.. Charcuterie plate was OUTSTANDING! Pimento Cheese and Fried Green Tomatoes are a must. Ate here twice while in town for Business and quite frankly was treated like a regular by the Bar Staff. Enjoyed the wine and some of the extensive selection of Rye's and Bourbons.

Great lunch spot in Downtown
I'm sure White Oak is great for dinner however I've only dined for lunch. The food is amazing. I've been multiple times with multiple people and nobody has ever complained of a bad meal. The service is great and the staff is very familiar with the items on the menu.
The one thing that confuses me is that you have to have a reservation for lunch. I don't mind making a reservation, but I've walked in on more than one occasion to see the front patio and bar area near empty and I was told there was a 30 minute wait. And we wanted to sit outside. If that happened once, I get it, but it's happened twice now. We won't go without a reservation, but I'm sure that hurts when visitors come to town looking for a good southern meal.

The food and service is really good. It's a bit pricey for lunch but if you are willing to spend $20 on lunch, it's an easy choice.
6/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
My guest wrote a "hand written" thank you note for lunch!!!! Putting it on her list for cocktails.

First time visit
I went for a first time for a business lunch. I love the atmosphere and will be back for an after work visit to dine outside. Great atmosphere. Pleasant service.

No Leftovers Here...
Occasionally we like to go to a restaurant that makes us feel as though we're exploring a different city. White Oak Kitchen served that purpose - attractive & interesting interior, with soaring windows. We kicked things off with a delicious and different blueberry-muffin-type bread serving with our drinks. We splurged with the deviled eggs appetizer, and then truly did enjoy our entrees. However, we are accustomed to always having food left over for another meal at home, particularly on these more expensive nights out. No such luck here. Bar looked interesting and somewhat lively - would probably visit again just to have that experience, or to eat on the outdoor patio in the heart of the city.

Second visit was wonderful!
This was my second visit. While my first visit was awful, this dinner was fabulous.
7/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lunch Monday was as good as "New South" food gets. The rolls with blue berry and blackberry jelly started it off great. Fried oyster appetizer and shrimp and clam entree were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Fennel sausage fit well with those flavors.
The lamb patty melt sandwich used a mild tasting lamb and perfect cheese filling and was cooked to a medium rare as requested. Fries were crisp and the best we have sampled even without duck fat frying.
Service was attentive but not cloying. Almost too good for lunch.
Can't wait to try it for dinner.

Great fresh, farm to table food! Excellent service and friendly staff!

Southern cooking updated
Terrific southern style menu using fresh, local produce. What I especially like is the updated recipes of southern favorites I have grown up with. The fish and chicken dishes were perfect. Also loved the biscuits, muffins and desserts. Wonderful and will visit again when back to Atlanta on business.

Window Shades Needed
My group and I came just as the sun was setting and part of our table got hit directly with the sun, blinded half our party. Installing some window shades would be a good idea when they designed this space!
But despite that, the food was excellent, though the portions somewhat small. Service felt slow, with the waiter taking a very long time to come back with our drinks and at one point forgetting to even put in our dessert orders. Ambience feels more casual, but the prices were more upscale.

Will be going back!
This place is fabulous and the food is superb! The Fried Chicken is by far the best I have ever had. The staff also went the extra mile and made note if my husband's birthday by bringing us an extra little treat. Overall, great atmosphere, great food, and great drinks! We will be returning for sure!

Our experience was over the top
White Oak was everything I had expected and more. Sean, our server, was amazingly helpful in choosing just the right bottle of wine for our ladies. The food presentation equally amazing and the flavor a burst in your mouth. The entire staff made our evening extra special. I can't wait to go back so I can try something different. I also plan to leave room for dessert.

A nice find
This restaurant is in the ground floor of an office building (although it does face Peachtreee) so it might get overlooked but I liked it a lot. Open, airy and lots of light. Also, considering the last two restaurants that I have been to were so loud that I could barely carry on a conversation, this was a refreshing respite. Food and presentation are excellent and I was impressed that the manager came by our table not once, but twice, to make sure everything was ok.

Delicious Take on Southern Cuisine
While eclectic and modern takes on Southern cuisines is all the rage in the Atlanta restaurant scene, I would definitely say White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails is one of the best. Definitely do not go expecting the usual Southern style cuisine. This is a foodie's restaurant for sure. However, even non-foodies will find food and drinks to their taste as well. It is a small but well defined menu with tasty unique salads and small plates, savory entrees and amazing desserts.
My favorite part is their portion sizes. They are perfect. So you can try an app or small plate, entree and dessert without feeling stuffed. The cocktail, wine and handcrafted beer list is fun and extensive w/o being overwhelming. I highly recommend WOKC.

The pimento cheese with fried green tomatoes is phenomenal.

Worth the trip
Had a great time at dinner here. Will go again.
Food was fantastic up until dessert. The peach cobbler just wasn't up to par with the rest of the dishes we sampled that night. By all means though, order the duck if at all possible!
Service was good until dessert came, then our waitress just kind of disappeared. The restaurant had suddenly gotten busy and it appeared that the waitstaff were being assigned tables as diners sat willy nilly all over the restaurant instead of having them each work a "section".

Fried Green Tomatoes
We ate there during restaurant week and had a lovely meal for little money. It looks like a small cafe from outside but is really spacious. Beautiful bar area and outside tables... Had the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese for an app and they were the best week had in our weeks in the South...

Glad we Switched
We had passed White Oak Kitchen and were impressed by the "look" from the street earlier in the day. We arrived early for our reservation at a Buckhead spot that had been recommended by the concierge at our hotel, but were not pleased with our drinks and appetizers there. Thank goodness for the smartphone, as we were able to secure a table at White Oak Kitchen. Service was very good - attentive without hovering. The wine list had good choices and a wide variety. We chose the restaurant week menu. All 6 of the dishes we tried were very good. WOK was our find on this trip to Atlanta!
8/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Must try the Pimento Cheese and Fried Green Tomatoes!
8/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
For a picky hard-to-please 'foodie' this was exceptional. Food, service (both at the table and the bar) and beverages were all delightful! I wish I lived in Atlanta so I could become a regular.

Mama Couldn't Do It Better!
Great restaurant. The atmosphere has an authentic southern charm, and the dishes have a clear southern influence without being over the top. Detailed execution of our meals, and drinks that complimented them perfectly. The entire experience was akin to having a fantastic dinner in a good friend's home. My wife and I will definitely be back!
8/9/2013 5:00:00 PM
The short rib was superb as was the fried tomato appetizer. We dined early on a Saturday so the place was a bit deserted but it is nicely decorated. Menu is a bit limited

Great Business Lunch Spot
Hello, this is an excellent location and atmosphere for business lunches. The food is wonderfully prepared and presented, the service attentive but not overbearing and the ambience cheery and business appropriate.
I will be back!

Planes, trains, automobiles, use whatever you have to get down to White Oak Kitchen and Cocktails for a delicious meal served by excellent servers. You will have time between taste experiences to appreciate the thought and care that went into the decor, from the carefully placed sound-absorbing wall treatments to the spectacular "chandeliers" that the owner designed.

Nice Southern dinner
We had a nice time at this downtown spot. The food was a great mix of tastes from the South. Shrimp beignets were great. And the service was good too. The owner was walking around greeting all the guests and making you feel like he cared about the experience. I would recommend you try White Oak Kitchen.

Great Service and Food
We ran across this restaurant while walking around downtown Atlanta and then saw it was on open table. We are so glad we did. The menu provided fun choices like beef cheeks and interesting appetizers and the food was fabulous. Our server was friendly and professional and management seemed attentive to our needs (I was looking around the interesting décor because I was seated with my back to it and the manager was over in a minute thinking I needed something). Highly recommended.

Excellent service from front door to dining table.

Our Experience at WOKC
We brought two different sets of friends to WOKC over the coarse of a week and had a fabulous experience. The food was exceptional and the service was too. The staff was very friendly and we will go back again.
We highly recommend White Oak Kitchen and Coctails

Food and ambience was fantastic!
The restaurant was buzzing and the drinks and food (i had the scallops) were great. Everyone I was with commented on how great their dinner was and the drink menu was outstanding. Would definitely go back again soon!

Excellent downtown dinner spot
Very good food (fried green tomato appetizer and venison entree both excellent!), friendly, considerate, and prompt service. After spending four days eating around downtown Atlanta, White Oak was as good or better than any other spot.

Creative Fare with Georgia Flair!
We had a group of seven, so they put us in a quieter room--main dining area is noisier, but still very cool. Food and service were excellent. Everyone loved the place! Things to try: anything with grits; fried green tomatoes; oyster salad. I took a chance on the venison with turnips and their greens--it was amazing! Tender, flavorful. Others had the potato-crusted flounder, the short ribs and the "beef cheeks" (now there is a Southern sounding dish). Raves all around. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. A great place to go in downtown Atlanta to experience some local foodie flare.

What a gem.
Stumbled upon this when others plans fell thru. Southern but subtle. Great choices and excellent food at a very reasonable price

Food was prepared good
Food was awesome and service was awesome
( just wish the menu had a bigger selection for those that are shellfish allergic and a vegetarian )
11/17/2013 4:00:00 PM
This was a great find. Instead of the usual restaurant scene in Buckhead or Midtown this Downtown location is a true gem! Great local food presented in a creative way that is delicious!

Nice and convenient
A very good place to eat and get away from the convention crowd even though it was across the street from our hotel.
12/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
White Oak has become a favorite. Competition is high in Atlanta for the "southern, upscale, farm-to-table" market and no one does it better than White Oak. Biscuits, fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese and fried oysters are just a few of the examples of first place dishes on the menu. The service is consistently good and not cloying. Someone is training the staff well to get the orders right, be available when the time is right and make suggestions that seem based on what your interests are and not the kitchen's (although that might not be a bad idea either).
