My wife and I really enjoyed
My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner at the Boar's Head Grill and Tavern. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Next time in Savannah we will dine there again. The ambiance takes you back to the late 1700s. You can almost hear the voices of the past as you sit and enjoy an excellent meal.

Excellent Dinner Choice
The atmosphere was great, not that it would be hard to go wrong in a historic building on River St. in Savannah. We sat at a table overlooking the river and it was lovely. Service was fast and friendly. My husband had a bourbon and it was prepared as requested, I had iced tea which was fine. I ordered the grilled salmon with peach barbecue sauce and cheese grits quite yummy; my husband ordered the T-Bone Chop with fresh peach chutney and garlic mashed potatoes again excellent. My only complaint is that the meal did not included a vegetable or salad and for the price, I believe one or the other should have been included.

Visiting in Savannah for a
Visiting in Savannah for a wedding, Gael chose BHG&T from a local magazine. It was nearly a mile walk from our hotel -- but worth it! We shared crab-stuffed grouper with garlic mashed potatoes. It was delicious on every measure. Big eaters could have easily consumed the entire entree, but we were happy to share.
Our server, Austin (a young lady) was friendly, attentive and on-the-ball.

Having lived in Sav for more
Having lived in Sav for more than 40 years, I regret to say we had never visited the Boar's Head-we were missing out. The bar area exudes the vibe of a local hangout, while the dining area speaks old world ambience. Our server, Amanda, was friendly, accommodating, and informative. A house recipe cocktail was tasty and well made. Wine by the glass was very reasonable. I had the blackened Mahi-Mahi, while the wife had stuffed grouper. We've had a lot of grouper, but my wife said this was among the freshest tasting and best she'd ever had. All the seafood here is fresh, but the grouper and shrimp are local also. The made-on-sight key lime pie for dessert was a full quarter pie slice. If you're a Savannah local, don't miss out on this gem.

Location and view are top
Location and view are top notch. Food was really good - Grouper Francaise was delicate with spectacular taste. Filet cooked perfectly and melt in mouth. Warm Chocolate Bread Pudding to die for!! Prices not bargain, but very reasonable.

great meal; only the bread was disappointing. we had the barbecued shrimp appetizer, and our main course selections were shrimp and grits for me and stuffed shrimp for her

I had been told to avoid places actually on the river in Savannah, that the best food was a little further out. But we ended up here for dinner, and were really glad we did. The boullabaise was really incredible as was the fish. And the bread pudding dessert was perfect, too. Server was knowledgable and pleasant and we sat and watched riverboats go by as we ate.

First time and enjoyed it very much
This was the first time that we had eaten at the Boars Head Grill. We were impressed by the sound of their special menu during the Savannah Restaurant week and we were not disappointed. All of the food was excellent. I had the Gazpacho with pickled shrimp that had a little bit of heat, and my wife had the barbecue shrimp with jicama slaw which also had a tinge of heat. Both appetizers were top notch. For an entree, I had the Shrimp and Grits which was one of the better presentations of this classic dish that I have had since living in the Savannah areal the last four years. My wife had the pork tenderloin which was moist and delicious. For dessert, we both chose the brownie with ice cream and caramel bourbon sauce and enjoyed it.

Food was excellent! Not much of a kids' menu however, so not great for younger kids. A bit pricey, but it's Savannah, so that was not surprising.

A Gem !!
This restaurant had an incredible dinner. I was there for my Wife Birthday, awesome food and experience will be back soon, worth the 2.5 hour drive from Robins AFB.

Best night in savanah

Good food, nice ambience
Been here a couple of times during trips to town, usually on weekends. No complaints about the food or service. When it's very full (usually the case) it's a relaxed but efficient place. Our visit this weekend was a disappointment, however, through NO FAULT of the staff: just as we sat down, a huge thunderbolt blew out the power for blocks all around. We had a drink, then a small salad, tipped the very apologetic waitress for her time, and left to forage elsewhere. But we'll be baaack!

First time diners, made reservations online. Was very pleased with the menu, the service and the food was excellent. They comp'd a dessert for my wife for her birthday. We had a window seat which made for an awesome view as the sun was setting on the city. We will definitely return.....

We discovered this restaurant on one of our many visits to Savannah Ga. And absolutely lived it. Great food, great service, great view!

Shrimp and Grits, yes!
Shrimp and Grits with Sausage, a tiny bit spicy and were perfect! The red Sangria was pretty good. My friend had the Ribeye, perfectly cooked and the only complaint we had was skip the mushrooms unless you want to ward off vampires. The food was great and service perfect. Highly recommend. Two of us with 2 drinks each and 2 entrees with side of mushrooms was $90. Worth it!

Great Spot on the Waterfront
The Boars Head Grill and Tavern was a great discovery for us.. Located on the Sacannah waterfront in one of the oldest buildings in the city, this restaurant provides a great dining experience with a view of the action on the tourist filled street as well as the river. The menu isn't huge but the selection of seafood and steak along with the evening's specials provide something almost everyone can enjoy. The food is prepared and presented well. Our waiter while not particularly friendly was efficient and courteous. Other than the short wine list and outdated wine glasses, there is nothing negative about this restaurant. We would recommend The Boar's Head to others and would definitely return ourselves.

50th Wedding Anniversary
My wife and I had dinner at this very same Boar's Head restaurant on our wedding day in 1963. We decided to return and repeat the experience for our 50th anniversary. It turned out to be a great decision. Everything was top notch, and the food was excellent. We particularly appreciated the outstanding service rendered by "Joe" our waiter.

After reading reviews about this restaurant having great oyster Rockefellers I went there. Can you believe they said they were out of oysters! What restaurant in Savannah runs out of oysters in oyster season! Anyway, we decided to stay. . Glad we did we had an appetizer of blackened shrimp with grits and some peach sauce, it was great. Then onto crab soup best ever filled with sherry. Main meal fillet, medium rate perfectly cooked. Had a side of asparagus not a lot but good. The gris were great.Service: Mediocre at best. Ordered wine took forever to get it and refills. My soup came with me entree, had to ask for more bread, napkins, etc.Having had a somewhat mediocre dinner, I would go back again.

Before our recent stay in Savannah, we were told (several times) from friends to "don't miss Boar's Head". So we didn't. And were we glad! We just dropped in for drinks and appetizers but had so much fun! The bartender, Rebecca, was a delight during our drinks at the bar. Then we moved on to the dining area and feasted on Blackened Shrimp and Cheese Grits -- OMG! Absolutely wonderful. And the crab cakes were exceptional as well. It was nice to watch the river traffic float by. Highly recommend this hot-spot to anyone dining on the river front. You won't be disappointed.

Always a favorite of ours!
This is always a favorite pick for us for either lunch or dinner! The service, food, and view is also always great! We recommend this as one of the top picks on River Street.
