Food was very tasty. Server was great. But typical seating (a bit cramped) that comes along with most little inner city establishments.

Good food and service. Dessert was delicious. Probably would only go back with another groupon voicher, since it makes it more affordable.

Fun, Good Time!
We had a fun time at this restaurant which was originally the old Astral Plane back in the day. The waiter was attentive, although not overbearing. He just had a great attitude and his service was great. If I recall his name was George and he had formerly been at the Four Seasons. This restaurant was very casual with some tables outside. My appetizer of Mac and Cheese with Short Ribs was to die for; especially for someone like me who never eats that stuff. Later on they have a piano bar upstairs and the player was really good and although it was not limited to jazz it was fun. Some of the customers joined in to sing and one guy in particular, I think his name was Ty could really sing!

Life well fed
The food here was really good. I was afraid the portions would be too small, but they weren't! The food was served quickly after we received our wine. The mussels were really light; they were cooked in a delicious white wine garlic broth. The lamb burger was not tasty to me as I usually don't eat lamb, but my boyfriend loved it!! I must say, it was really juicy and pretty big. Of course we had the prosciutto and goat cheese flatbread; it was delicious! I was pleasantly surprised because its shaped more like a pizza. The dough is similar to that of Garces Trading Company; it was doughy and little sweet, which was very nice. I will be going again to enjoy more good food and friendly service!!

Short rib Mac n Cheese
Our favorite was the short rib mac n cheese. Cute, quiet bar scene for catching up with friends.

Dahlia's is a true gem!
Dahlia's is the restaurant/bar upstairs from Brick. On Thursday nights, it is an open mike night with Bob Egan who is an incredibly gifted pianist. The food is really wonderful--they always have terrific and unusual specials. The crowd is always fun. The service is great: Eric, Will, and Bernard are fun and very efficient. Bob is the big draw as he has a HUGE following from years of playing in Atlantic City, New Hope, PA, etc. Bob is fun, energetic, funny, and really gifted. Bernard has voice that will knock the socks off of you, too! It you are into the Piano Bar scene this is the place to be.

Went for a birthday celebration and everything was perfect. The food was spectacular, service was quick and attentive. Definitely going to go again.

I loved it...my husband liked it !
Although small, I really enjoyed the food. Not an intimate dining spot because the tables are very close. BUT, if this doesn't bother you...go for the Thai Chili Shrimp appetizer...I really didn't want to share because I loved it so much! My main entrée was the pork tenderloin...it was cooked perfectly and I loved the sautéed peaches & strawberries that accompanied it. I can't say the same about the chipotle potatoes...flavor too strong for my taste. My husband had the chips and guacamole which he enjoyed, but he is not very picky when it comes to chips and guacamole! For dinner he had the steak with seasoned butter; although tender, the steak didn't have much flavor, other than what the butter provided. There’s a full bar..will go back!

As a new resident to Philadelphia, I had seen Brick on several lists of great spots in Philly. So when a friend came to visit me, I made reservations.
We showed up to a charming place with lovely photos on the walls. Our greeter/server was adorable, very amiable and helpful. Though I was concerned that all the wines seem to be from the US (California and Oregon), we were still able to find appropriate matches for our dinner and our server, Matt, was helpful picking them.
I was pleased with the quality and quantity of food offered for the main dishes and appetizers. We ordered the mussels appetizer and for our main courses she had the pork loin with fruit compote while I had shimp w/ vodka sauce. Everything was well spiced and delicious.

Great Entertainment upstairs at Dahlia's on Thursday nights with Bob Engle on piano and Bernard Grogan singing show tunes and classic tunes.

Good food and ambience
My friend and I dined at Brick with some trepidation - some of the reviews are critical of food quality and portion size. We were delighted! The food was very good - short rib mac and cheese starter and lamb burger were exceptional. Gnocchi tasted fresh made. We also ordered one of the specials - mango gazpacho starter - was memorable. Service was attentive and friendly. - the waiter heard that we planned to share the starters and served the gazpacho divided into 2 cups without our asking. We will return!

An eclectic experience
I would say this restaurant is an experiment in food choices. That's a good thing, especially if you get bored with food easily. The specials are inventive and there is an eclectic mix of dishes from different cuisines. The drinks are fun to read on the menu and moderate in strength. They need a little work on the dessert selections and could stand hotter coffee.
The converted store-front is spacious yet cozy with deep wood tones on the walls and floors. Love the background music playlist. It's a good place for groups, couples without kids, first dates and singles. The food is probably a little too rich for the younger palate.

Great Service and yummy food
My first time at Brick was with a group of 10 people for brunch--they were so accommodating and the service was wonderful. They have a great brunch menu, and the $20 "Funday" deal is great! You get all you can drink bloody marys, mimosas and sangria. Definitely a great find, and it has a friendly neighborhood restaurant vibe that I loved.
6/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everything, I mean EVERYTHING was delicious, fresh, and did I say delicious? The crab and artichoke dip, scallops, seafood risotto.....I can go on and on but once you go once you'll want to go back the very next day!
6/20/2013 4:00:00 PM
We had grabbed drinks and apps a few other times at Brick American, and always enjoyed it. So when it came time to pick a spot for a special birthday dinner, it was our first choice. They easily accommodated our large party of 10 and the food was...as always... amazing. The short rib mac and cheese is delicious as were the thai chili shrimp and the spring rolls. The wine was flowing and we ordered our meals. Can't remember what exactly everyone got, but the husband got the chicken parm...delicious and plentiful. I got the scallops. LOVED these. Someone had the special trout and said it was wonderful. And I know two folks had the meatballs. YUM! We capped it off with some bread pudding. Simply wonderful all around!
6/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
My entire experience was a great one. Everything from the waiter to the food was excellent I would recommend this place to everybody and I can't wait to go back.

Brick American Eatery is a
Brick American Eatery is a quaint intimate place. the staff are very friendly and attentive. it has the ambiance of a warm, familiar, neighborhood pub. my dining partner and i started with the thai chilli.shrimp.it was tender and had a nice kick to it. Miss Scarlett ordered the Sea Scallops with Beets, white beans, sun dried tomato & rosemary cream. she said that they were delicious.i am not a big fan of scallops but they were large and tasty and juicy. the tomato did not look like a sun dried tomato but it tasted good anyway.i enjoyed the white beans. i ordered the Pan Seared Salmon Red pepper with, almond pesto, zucchini. the pesto brought out the flavor of the salmon. the zucchini was delicious.we passed on desert

This place is great, but Andy on the piano makes is special. I will continue to come back over and over to hear Andy and to sing a song or two.
7/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
good food but...
The food was very tasty. I had the Chesapeake Benedict, while my husband had the Shrimp and Grits. We also enjoyed the bottomless brunch drink menu, especially the pineapple mimosa. However, the AC seemed to be broken, so my husband was sweating profusely the whole time. We could have enjoyed our brunch a whole lot more, if it hadn't been due to the hot environment.

We are from out of town and
We are from out of town and were given a gift certificate to this restaurant. It was wonderful!!! We had the steak frites, the scallops, and the mussel appetizer . All done to perfection and served by a wonderful waiter! It felt like a family owned restaurant and everyone was wonderful from the moment we walked in until we left and they halped us find a cab!

Great Night Out
We were super appreciative of how welcomed we felt even though we were dining with a 19 month old. The food and wine were excellent, but the real stars were the service and location of this place!
7/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good quality / price relation
Although some plates are too spicy to have the real taste of some food, in general plates are good, specially salads and pasta.

So happy we experienced this gem!
The food was fantastic. We had the crab cakes, steak frites, short rib Mac & cheese, but best of all the salmon teriyaki melted in your mouth and it was on a whole new level of greatness. Wait staff is very friendly and it was such a pleasurable dinner.
The restaurant is small and quaint and perfect for a week day dining experience.
I recommend you try this gem!

The service is always very attentive and pleasant. Nice decor. Some dishes are excellent and others are less so. Nothing is ever bad, however. Brick is a pleasant neighborhood restaurant.

This was the third time we'd
This was the third time we'd eaten at Brick American Eatery and have found consistently delicious pasta dishes. This time we had the gnocchi (with gorgonzola) and homemade spaghetti and meat balls (the menu states: Donna’s homemade meatballs with red gravy" - turns out Donna was our waiters great aunt). Both of our pastas were excellent. We shared muscles as an appetizer with a great tasting, garlicky sauce. Our margaritas were prepared with fresh lime juice, a real treat since most restaurant bars use a bottled mix. This is a true family restaurant. Our waiter was clearly part of the family and the incentive to see the family business do well was emphasized by the fine service he, and others, provided. We'll certainly return!
8/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our waiter was very energetic and very knowledgeable of the menu and the area. We spoke to him about our dinner, and well as the brunch menu and specials. I ordered the crab cakes and orzo and my friend got the salmon and couscous. Everything was delicious!!! We sat outside and it was a beautiful night. I will definitely be returning !

Good food, good service
I brought my girlfriend here for a romantic date - but unfortunately didn't scout it out ahead of time. The result - we were wayy too overdressed and felt a little uncomfortable, but the staff made us feel very comfortable and - as I feel - made their approach a little more formal as well. The food was excellent - short rib macaroni & cheese rocked our socks. The pork loin was decent (though a little on the dry side) and my gf loved her shrimp linguini. Overall, very positive experience.

Delicious Sunday Brunch
My family enjoyed a very pleasant fall bruch, dining on the sidewalk in front of Brick's. Very pleasant -- but be prepared for the occasion sireen or barking dog. The egg dishes were delicious as well as the sides. Will return when in Philly again.

Solid as a birck
Brick is a quiet little bar/restaurant very close to our house. The ambiance is pleasant, and on the weeknight we went it was very quiet. Food was solid, as were the small but creative drink options. We had a very nice dinner out. not "WOW" or fancy, but very solid service tasty well prepared food and reasonably priced. If you are looking for good reliable food and a nice environment this is a great option.

Great for Late Sunday Brunch

Great Place to Celebrate!
Headed to Brick for a b-day celebration w/a group of friends. We all enjoyed ourselves! Menu & cocktails were a refreshing change and the specials that night were great! We weren't too fond of the lobster bisque but only because we didn't like the tomato base. Overall, Brick was a winner and we're looking forward to a return visit!
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food is always delicious; the shrimp , short ribs, filet, and spaghetti and meatballs are cooked to perfection every time we order these dishes. The staff is friendly and warm, and welcomes everyone the way one welcomes an old friend. This is our "go to " restaurant whenever friends and family come to visit. We absolutely love eating there!
