Very, very high quality food
Very, very high quality food clearly prepared by a chef that has a love affair with the food experience. I had the Oyster Chowder and it was perfection. Rivals any 5 star downtown restaurant. I also had the Albacore Tuna sandwich - which was a beautifully seared tuna steak with bacon and other amazing accompaniments. This was followed by the lemon tarte for dessert - superb. This place is a must try.

Was surprised that the restaurant
Was surprised that the restaurant called itself fine dining
Chef was in chef jacket , shorts and flip flops
Waitress were all in jean capris and casual shirts
Mussels were amazing but I had the sirloin steak which had grissle running through it
Could only cut through half
My husband had shoulder which was very moist and nice but homemade sauce had burnt flavor
Restaurant has potential just needs more organization

Special occasion or quality friends
Great fresh oyster selection. Excellent cocktail list. Recommend the Tenderloin or Duck.

I and my wife had a wonderful dinner there! We will definitely be there again! It is a very nice place to spoil friend and take them out for a special dinner!!

Not a bad spot to keep on
Not a bad spot to keep on the dining list if you live in Langley, but it has a few rough spots. Our server would have been better suited to a diner: she lacked the polish & professionalism you'd expect from a fine restaurant. My steak was OK, but a little tough & definitely not dry aged. The oysters were great. It had live music that was too loud, which I absolutely hate. It made dinner conversation difficult .

Two thumbs up for the Fat Cow !!
The service at the Fat Cow & Oyster Bar was excellent. We stuck to everything seafood on the menu and was not disappointed in any of the dishes. The meals arrived in a timely manner and was sizzling hot (I hate cold food). The restaurant was quite empty for a Sunday evening but it's also still very new. Go and support them, you wont be disappointed.

I booked this restaurant without
I booked this restaurant without ever having been there or knowing anyone, simply based on the reviews. I am pleased to say the group of 12 that went were not disappointed and in fact it will now be on a list of recommendations. There is so little to be offered in that area it is good to see there IS an option. The only drawback was that the location was a little challenging for people to find as the signage was difficult to see when passing by. BUT it was WELL worth it and as long as people know to look hard for that gem I don't think they will be disappointed.

Excellent food. Very friendly service. Fine dining food with a super casual atmosphere. Great live entertainment. The only criticism we had was it took a long time. We were with another couple chatting so the time seemed to pass anyways. If we were on our own it would have felt slow. Will go back without question!!

The food was great, although the service was slow. We arrived at 705 early for our reservations which were for 715 and were seated promptly. Our drinks and appies arrived in due time, but our main course took almost 45 minutes to arrive! We didn't leave the place until 915

We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Fat Cow. From the crab cake to start to the goat cheese cheesecake with rubarb confit it was delicious! The service was attentive although the meal was a little slow, but it was clearly made from scratch and to order, so it was worth the wait. Cosy and inviting room, although in a peculiar location. Two udders up!

Favourite Langley Restaurant!
This is my favourite Langley restaurant - hands down. I have been here several times for lunch and dinner and the menu is always imaginative, the food is consistently delicious, and the service is always wonderful. I'm thankful that there is an alternative to Earls, Browns, etc. Although it is in a strip mall, once inside the ambiance is lovely.

Service was slow but very
Service was slow but very pleasant. Some oddities in the way things were served (tin foil cups on a main dish plate). Some portions not the proper size (beet salad with 3 slices of beets :/ or the mushroom frittata with barely any obvious mushrooms).
Seems newish and eager with room for improvement but didn't break the pocket book and nor was it unpleasant. We will go back and we will look forward to them polishing a few things :)

The food was excellent. We had to wait a bit but the server kept our drinks full and brought us bread for the kids.

Wow! Surprised because I am
Wow! Surprised because I am a snobby city-eater -- this place is worth trying. The food is fantastic and the decor is funky. Surprising in a strip mall in North Langley. Well Done!

Love the ambience
Welcoming atmosphere with a cozy, relazing ambience. Very accomodating live music by a solo artist with guitar and songs playing in the background. Food most enjoyable paired with a nice glass of house wine. Will be back for sure!

Very interesting menu--it was so hard to decide--we ended up sharing 3 appetizers--all were great, especially the shrimp/crab cake. We each ordered the lamb, which I shall definitely order again, on my next visit and we shared the superb hazelnut torte and burlee. My mouth is watering, just thinking about how great they were. The hostess and servers were lovely. We are two grannies that love to talk and we could converse without straining our voices, with the music playing softly, in the background. You undoubtedly should be very proud of your establishment.

probably the best food in Langley
We were in the hunt for a decent non-chain restaurant in our area and happened upon The Fat Cow and Oyster Bar. To our surprise the food and atmosphere were more like what you would find on West Fourth in Vancouver. Everything was wonderful but I would have liked to have seen a little larger portions on the appetizers.

Great food, very accommodating to my gluten allergy. My 10 month old was received with open arms. Loved the live music layer in the evening. Oysters were awesome, both raw and cooked.
7/5/2013 4:00:00 PM
This is our 2nd time in a just over a month..had to go back for the chicken and waffles.
Our server was delightful. This time we each tried 3 of the cooked oysters mmmm. Loved the lemon rosemary goat cheese one but all 3 were fantastic.
Love the red malbec house wine.
Thanks for another great evening.

Excellent food, relaxed atmosphere
Super meal of steelhead trout, cooked to perfection and delicious Fat Cow house wine! Loved the vintage decor and friendly staff. Altogether a wonderful experience.
7/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Had the 5 course tasting meal for two and it was great, starter of veggie crisps then parsnip and apple soup then raspberry sorbet then the main I had the sirloin and my wife had the steelhead trout and then we finished with a hazelnut torte...terrific..all items should be on the menu regularly.

Fat Cow is one of our favourite local restaurants. It consistently offers fresh food expertly prepared. The waitstaff are all very friendly and the ambiance is relaxing and inviting. An all round winner in my books.

Fat Cow Gem!
The chicken and waffles with Bourbon maple syrup is the absolute best we've had! The blue cheese crusted sirloin is our fave staple, and the mussles in thyme and cream sauce is the perfect starter! We love this place!

Great food,awesome oysters
Great food, awesome oysters cooked and raw. Great service, owner served us and cooked for us. Happy to support a great small local business.

The foot was very good! Mussels in the white wine with time set our expectations as they were outstanding and we were definitely come back for those again. I ordered the duck confit and enjoyed the confit ---there was a great deal of duck meat as a roasted breast was included. It came with a cabbage and bacon ragu which was amazing and left me wanting more. Next time I will order additional veggies as they were delicious but few.
My husband had their burger and was impressed with the buyer but disappointed with the fries. They were hand cut but many were small and fried beyond crisp.
They have great local beer and a delicious Malbec house wine.
All in all we enjoyed , recommend it and shall return with friends.

Best in the area, hands down!
My boyfriend and I are still bragging about this place! We shared oysters to start which were tasty, clean and fresh, the baked ones were amazing. We then shared the grilled octopus and were mind blown - the 60 min egg was well worth the wait. The boyfriend ordered the burger and has yet to have a burger live up to those expectations since, the blue cheese is perfect and the meat was juicy. My halibut with squid ink gnocchi was great! Loved the fish and reasonably priced considering how expensive halibut is nowadays. The gold dusted cheesecake was delicious, I still wish I took a picture, beautiful presentation!
We will definitely be returning

Outstanding in Every Way!!
Our experience was amazing! We were a group of six and everyone one of us was blown away by our food. We all tasted each others meals and were completely impressed. We've already made plans to return and will be telling all our friends about this gem of a restaurant! The chicken and waffles were to die for, and the burger was out of this world!

High quality dinning
I love the focus on local, fresh ingredients at Fat Cow. The flavours are incredible, service is engaging and energetic. Some dishes are pure comfort food, others are innovative and unique. Meat is prepared perfect (particularly with seared tuna) and the kitchen was able to do vegetarian dishes on the spot.

Glad we heard about and found
Glad we heard about and found the restaurant on open table. A little pricey for portions and their online menu is not in-synch with current one in restaurant. (I was hoping for Caesar salad and filet).

We wanted to celebrate our anniversary at a different restaurant - not one that is a chain, filled with too young loud adults, where the waitresses are dressed in skin tight black. So happy I remembered this restaurant. The ambience was great. Service was pretty good - I think our waitress was relatively new and a little nervous. Food was great - the squash was not cooked through but I can see past that for how good the rest of the meal was. Can't wait to go back!!

Oysters & Duck Confit
Ce repas est delicieux! Compliments to the chef. The complimentary prawn ceviche was phenomenal, Beau ate it even though he doesn't like seafood. The Chevre oyster was juicy and tender with a slight hint of rosemary, delicious with fresh squeezed lemon. Served with a side of argula (?) Tossed in balsamic reduction. Duck confit was served two ways. Looks like sliced seared duck breast medallions which had a milder flavour. As well as a crispy duck leg which was a lot more savoury than the medallions. Both tender and divine. Served with a panchetta (?) Cabbage ragu, seasonal vegetables and a quince gastrique. Overall a very satisfying meal. The House Wine (Fat Cow Red) was also great. Thank you for a delightful evening. Et à la prochaine fois

Great restaurant in Langley
We met friends for dinner on Saturday and had a liesurely dinner. It was above
All of our expectations. The mussels and oysters were truly delicious.
And our main courses were interestingly plated. Nice live music playing,
Not too loud to prevent conversation. We will definitely return

Great food, would definitely return
Nice place, great food, responsive service. Only bummer was the large group that came and brought young kids. One of the babies cried and I appreciate that mom was attempting to calm the babe but in a small intimate restaurant you can hear everything so the crying along with other kids walking about was rather disturbing...

Fat Cow Oyster Bar Delivered Again
Our local fave haunt delivered again... We dined with another couple this time, shared a couple bottles of Malbec, oysters and mussels to whet our appetites, and rib eye to ultimately finish off the drive to the main course. Each bite along the way was flavourful and satisfying. We'll be back again soon!
