I brought my wife here for a special event. There was great food and service. I'm from San Diego, and this is one of my favorites.

A good time had...
Food and mood of the place is great. We sat next to the stage this time dedpite requesting upstairs seating. It was a graduation night and it was very busy with all the grad groups. Considering this, the service was attentive and timely. The wait person was a bit stressed but never waivered from making sure we were good throughout the night. We had a pither of sangria, seafood paella, and the olive loaf.... All highly recomended. Topped the night off with salsa lessons. That was the only downer... The instructors headseat/mic was not working and we couldnt hear him. Still, it was nice to dave with different, beaitiful girls with each switch... Fun!!

Great Spanish food
Excellent Spanish food. Ambiance abit tired and distracting from the great food. Loved the lamb chops!

Great restaurant in Gaslamp Quarter
I took my girlfriend to this restaurant for her birthday, and the restaurant honored my special requests. The restaurant has a lively atmosphere and the service was excellent. The restaurant is pretty loud, so don't expect a quiet meal. The food was authentic and tasted wonderful.

When we go out to San Diego, it is always a struggle to decide between Sevilla or trying somewhere else. Sevilla usually wins, so we are pretty ignorant of the other restaurants in town even though he have lived in the county for over two years.
We prefer traditional Spanish Sangria and Tapas. Too many places try to go fusion or gourmet-ify things. We like to keep things as traditional as possible.
Not inexpensive, but still our favorite.

Go during Happy hour
It was a unique experience for me and my boyfriend. We were looking for a place to have dinner and decided to try this place. We were drawn in by the decor and the idea of trying out tapas. Being first timers, our waitress was great and suggested a few items. Everything was great. We liked the tortilla tapas and loved the beef ribs which we ordered as a meal and shared. Each tapas plate seemed expensive and would have added up pretty fast and so didn't try out that many. We were looking at the main menu and didn't realize we were there during Happy hour. The prices were better during Happy hour and we would have ordered more to try out. We will definitely go back and be more smart about our orders.

Great themed bar/restaurant
Cafe Sevilla is a neat spot in the Gaslamp that's packed full of atmosphere and character, and the food matches the fun environment. My girlfriend and I shared the meat lovers tapas plate and enjoyed each of the four quadrants included! We also tried a couple of the different Sangrias made here and liked those; the Sangria Royal was our favorite! Our waiter was awesome (very attentive, energetic, and helpful), and the whole experience made for a great way to start our joint-birthday weekend together. We'll definitely be back again to try out more of the tapas.

Excellent Spanish (not Mexican)
By happenstance, a few months ago I met some relatives at Cafe Sevilla's Riverside restaurant for an excellent brunch. My wife and I then went to Spain for a few weeks in April (2 months ago) where we found a variety of tapas bars ranging from disappointing to excellent. Last week we went down to Cafe Sevilla's San Diego restaurant and were happy to find that our sampling of their food and tapas were very good.
As a side note, parking lots (street parking is like winning the lottery) are generally $25. The Convention Center lot (a block from Gaslamp) is $15. When we return to Cafe Sevilla, we'll park a stop or two away on the Trolley line and take the Trolley to the Gaslamp area.

Had a wonderful Father's Day dinner with live flamenco dancing, which was amazing to watch! The food was superb and so was the red sangria that we had with everything. Definitely recommend the lamb skewers, black paella, warm goat cheese, ceviche trio, and almond and olive spread.

FOOD = AMAZING (Music/Dancer = bad)
We love Sevilla! We frequent it and try to go early before the music or dancers start. Quality of food and service is wonderful - quality of entertainment us horrible.
6/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Had a very good tapas dinner on the patio, the best location because inside it is very noisy. Mojitos were quite tasty, and tapas delicious. Service was prompt and friendly.

Good place in the Gaslamp
This was a great place to take clients, Friends or out of towners to dinner. Good atmosphere and the food is very good. Good for sharing.
6/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had the dates with blue cheese, the cheese fundido, the scallops and the short ribs. They were all fantastic. Service was good.

Cafe Seville in San Diego Review
We happened in late on a Monday night, after 9pm and so live guitar music had ended. Was bummed to have missed it. We just did small plates since had horsdeuvres elsewhere so not terribly hungry. We enjoyed the olive bread -- it came with tomatoe sauce as well as a creamy garlic sauce which was our favorite between the two sauces. We also enjoyed the blue cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped dates. Really good and unique taste. Will definitely come back, especially to listen to the live Latin guitar music.

Little Taste of Spain
Sevilla has a large variety of 'tapas' (very small dishes) to sample, which are a bit on the high end price, due to the size of the dish. We ordered about six or seven tapas. My spouse loved the "Blue Cheese Dates" wrapped in bacon. I highly recommend the "Rioja Short Ribs" and "Lobster & Mushroom Paella Tapa" as starters. The smell and taste of these dishes are filled with excellent seasonings. We also had the "Lamb" in the Brochetas section of the menu. Great taste, but felt over priced. The service is not super fast, which we enjoy so that we can sample and digest our courses before being served another. We never made it to the main Paellas...stuffed from all of the tapas, which gives us another reason to come back to Cafe Sevilla.

Surprisingly good food but not serv
Enjoyed the experience but other tables who arrived after us were eating before our first contact with the staff. Through out the meal service was slow and poor.
However the food was much better than expected and diverse. Great crevice, tuna tartare and sausages. We had multiple small plates rather than an entrees
7/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Most of the seemingly thousands of restaurants in the Gas Lamp district of San Diego are either routine bar food or uninspired Mexican but this tapas place is a bit special. Fun atmosphere, quality food, professional service and a nice wine list. We were not too thrilled with one dish (tuna tartare - too much tarragon or anise) and our server quickly replaced it with something else. If I had one "complaint" it would be the food came too quickly. I would suggest ordering one or two plates at a time.
At a table near us a woman left her purse unattended hanging from her chair. The server noticed it and waited at the table until she returned to safely recover it. Nice touch.

Had a wonderful time out with friends on Friday night. Music was great, food better and service super!

Great Tapas and music too!
There was a great Spanish guitar player who played all the time some very, very good music and accompanied us through one of the best Tapas dinners I've had. Though a little disappointed by the Octopus (but I've very high standards) the delicious ribs that our knowledgeable waiter Sergio recommended were delicious. I enjoyed very much the fried calamari - generous serving! - and had to ask for some potato tortilla to dip it n the abundant sauce of the ribs and the meatballs. A great, great pitcher of Sangria came too! All in all, we had I think 7 different generous tapas and a whole pitcher of Sangria for less than $100 in two and that was really good, considering the wonderful music. Would highly recommend when in SD's Gaslamp District.

This past Saturday was my first time back in ten years. I realized the physical location had changed but this is for the better. The interior, music and overall ambiance was good for the evening.
The food was amazing. I had one guest and we shared a few tapas and that was enough for us to get full. The sangrias were outstanding to say the least.
Service was excellent!
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
A must try is there Sangria, excellent. We made our dinner of Tapas. They were each excellent and brought out to us spaced far enough apart to be able to enjoy each. Service at both the bar and restaurant were great!! I would recommend reservations as it gets very crowded!!

A little bit of Spain in San Diego!
We enjoyed our evening at Cafe Sevilla....The Tapas were all great, as was the service! They had live music as well, which helped to create a fantastic ambiance. Felt like we were back in Spain!
We liked it so much, we went back for a second time during our 6 day stay in San Diego.

Gaslamp standard doesn't dissapoint
Sevilla offers a true taste of Spain in the heart of San Diego's Gaslamp District. Tapas and drinks were the order of the day with Sangria and Mojitos. Both excellent. Tapas and cheese with a skewer of grilled chicken proved to be a perfect pairing. The sausages were excellent and the thin sliced Iberico excellent as always. Spanish guitar and singing make the atmosphere but can also make conversation difficult. Go for the food and the friendly attentive service. Thumbs up. We will definitely return and recommend.

Meat Lover's Paradise
If you are a carnivore, this is the place for you. Brazilian BBQ, aka Rodízio, is an experience worth checking out. It's all you can eat with 20 varieties of meat, every kind of beef, pork, chicken, lamb, turkey brought to your table. The meat is very moist and succulent due to the way they cook it on a rotisserie and the sides they have are also amazing. It's a real treat of a place. Check it out.
7/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
We looked forward to our evening, but unfortunately it was during Comic Con! No valet parking and no parking anywhere. Bad traffic and too noisy in restaurant-but not their fault. Food and service was great and we will go back when no special events are going on in SD!
7/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent Spanish Food
Very good tapas and paella; the wine selection is excellent
7/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
A great experience. Outstanding food with well informed service. Our server Sarah added to the evening by assisting in the pairing of food and drinks. She was also very knowledgable about how the food is prepared and the ingredients used. We had a wonderful 3 1/2 hour experience and can't wait to go back. It's a little pricey but worth every penny.

Great food and atmosphere
We ordered several different tapas as a late night (post-game) snack and everything was delicious! Atmosphere was upbeat and energetic and always great people watching when you eat outside in the Gaslamp. Waitress made great recommendations and the whole staff was friendly and helpful!

Came for my birthday, with my mother and 13yr old daughter. Reservations are highly recommended. We got seated with no problem. Food was delicious. Ordered meat tapas platter and paella, paired with a royal sangria. Waiter recommended desserts since they rsn out of dessert menus. Chocolate espresso creme brulee and flourless chocolate cake, one word YUM!

Cafe Sevilla -- always a good night
We reserved for 9:30 on open table and arrived 30 minutes early. They were very nice and food / service was excellent as always.

For the love of tapas
My son found this gem of a restaurant while browsing our San Francisco guide book. As we drove by on our first night in SF, we quickly realized that we would need a reservation or we would never have a chance to experience this place. It was so worth it! The three of us shared 9 different tapas for dinner, chosen based on our taste preferences and our server's suggestions. All were excellent. She even suggested wines by the glass to accompany them. We had a great time! Great food, and wine, great service, and fun people watching on one of the busiest street in the Gaslamp district of San Fran. Thanks for the overall fantastic experience!
8/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
I went here with my wife for dinner. The food was pretty good, not the best thing I've ever had, but quality. The classic paella was delicious. Service was pretty good, with good recommendations. Pricey, but to be expected downtown. All in all the night was good, will come back again.
8/30/2013 5:00:00 PM
Looked like an interesting place online and was that and more. Cannot say enough about the food, beautiful presentation, every bite was perfect, waiter was helpful and nice; decor is fun; had live music. I had the apple, vanilla infused white wine for my sangria choice and it was like sipping an apple pie, yummy. I went with a friend and we could not finish all of our items. The tapas are generously portioned. I would make a recommendation (like the meat lovers tapas combo) but would have to try many more things, which I shall next time in San Diego.

GREAT SANGRIA & TAPAS
You can't go wrong with any of their tapas! the Happy Hour menu is incredible!

Great for Date night, Little loud
The food and service were amazing. Stephanie our server was awesome. The only downside I had is that my wife and I struggled to talk at times when the music was too loud. tables are a little close, so we didn't want to scream to communicate. Had a great time overall though!
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Overall, the food and service
Overall, the food and service were great. The octopus seviche was incredible--the best octopus I've ever had. Likewise the bleu cheese stuffed dates were excellent. My only complaint was the flight of sangria. I didn't like three out of the four choices--they are so different from classic sangria, it's a stretch to call them sangria. But other than that little glitch, it was a great experience. We ate outside so it was quite noisy but that was to be expected.
9/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
The decor was bright and cheerful, our waiter was very attentive. We all enjoyed the Tapas we ordered, scallops, garlic shrimp but the family style Paella was bit on the dry side.
9/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
The tapas here were artistic and tastey, without being overly intense. A great balance of originality in presentation and flavor on classics like Paella and oxtail.
9/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
I have been to Cafe Sevilla several times before and have never been let down. Great ambiance and the food is amazing. Great for a date night, special occasion or just a night on the town.
10/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent tapas and entree
Excellent tapas and entree of seafood paella. Well worth the trip and will be added as a place to go to in San Diego.

Love, Love Love
One of my favorites. You can not go wrong dining here.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
We enjoyed the variance of the menu. Atmosphere was great!!

Took us back to our visits to cities in Spain. Great food and drink and lots of fun. Thanks for a great evening and the special treat in our envelope.
10/30/2013 5:00:00 PM
We had trouble getting there and they made it possible for us to come in later than expected, the service was outstanding, GREAT food, loved it, thanks!
11/1/2013 5:00:00 PM
Every tapas we tried was delicious. The gazpacho was very flavorful and just like I've had in southern Spain in four trips over the years. The atmosphere was lively, consisting mainly of 20- and 30-somethings dressed respectably, instead of looking sloppy and disheveled. Not a baseball cap in the house, thank goodness. A great spot for a date. A good selection of riojas, as one might expect. The service was very attentive and knowing. Just a great night out..
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Had a wonderful time. Excellent food, tasty and would love to spend some time trying some of your other dishes.
11/25/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great restaurant. Will return.
I went there with my parents on thanksgiving. Dishes are very well made, delicious and eye candy, the environment gorgeous, good artists playing spanish songs (most only with instruments). The only penalty I would give is that our order took almost half an hour to arrive. Could be faster...
11/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great food, unique flavors
Great place! It was our second time here. The variety on the menu allows everyone to find something they like. And then the style of service is designed for sharing, so you get to explore even further. The flavors are amazing, the presentation is great, and the service/delivery was timed well. Although this place is in a somewhat touristy area of the GasLamp district, as a local, I will continue to come back here.
Only complaint: Towards the end of our meal, five different things were brought to our table, of which we didn't order. Completely understandable the first time, but after the third time, it just got annoying. Despite that, we chalked it up to another server entering the orders wrong. No harm done, just odd.
