A new beginning
We dined at LB Steak soon after it opened and thought it was OK but the prices seemed high so did not go there until a few days ago. Could not have had a better experience. Service was excellent, the food was good and no complaints !

Enjoyed the food and service was very good. I rarely have steak out, as we love grilling good steaks at home, but these were great and some unique sauces made them special, too.

Our party of six had a very enjoyable dining experience. I appreciated that the menu is no longer completely al a carte. I was a bit disappointed with my filet steak medallions. The mocha ice cream pie was to die for! The service was not quite as attentive as the first time, but adequate. The wines were excellent.

Great Steak, Expanded Menu
I've been a fan of LB Steak (I call it 'Pound Steak') ever since it opened.
This past visit, I noticed that they made some edits to the menu, and I think it's better. That said, the steaks (the bone-in filet is amazing) are still the stars. It also seems that they are now including 2 free sides with your steak (although I didn't see this written on the menu, it seemed to be indicated by the server), which is a huge improvement. It's a little depressing to have a plate come out with nothing but a steak, but they've solved this problem with their new policy. Personally, I've always order the mushrooms, but now I can also have fries (not that I couldn't before, but everything used to come out on separate plates). Great improvements!

Great Food and Ambiance
Went to celebrate some of life's events and decided to try a new place. So glad we did. Had an early evening reservation so the place was quiet when we arrived but bustling when we left. My wife had heard about LB Steak and we had been to Fleming's, Forbes Mill and Izzy's so thought we should give it a try. The food was well prepared and beyond our expectations. Service was balanced - attentive but not pushy. We look forward to going back again.

The dry aged ribeye is a star.
The dry aged ribeye is a star. While the bone in fillet was great, it was out classed by the dry aged ribeye.

My wife and I had an awesome dinner!! We went all out and got the Tomahawk Chop, which was excellent, perfectly cooked with some very tasty side dips. As if that wasn't going to be enough, we ordered the oysters and pork belly. The oysters were so fresh and delicious, buttery, tender, and smooth. The pork belly was oozing with flavor with a perfect balance of the brioche pudding and fried egg. The Chef Brendy came out to the table to ask how everything was going, which was a nice touch on a delicious dinner. The GM Chris was very professional and friendly also, and our server Max was attentive and helpful. We will go back again on another special occasion for sure!!

Must to try, great food and servic

Phil and I look at the appetizer and decided to ask if we could look at the bar menu Lumpia, crab cake, lemon grass popcorn shrimp, chicken wings ho yes baby, all great dishes but the best were the dipping sauce.we already have ordered this steak call tomahawk chop, 32 oz monster steak we share that one, it come with you choice of two sides “ we pick spinach cream and mushroom and we pick two sauces pepper corn and steak sauce. time for an nice pinot noir again Becky recommended vine from Oregon great choice. Reasonably priced for a good steak
We ate at this restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday and were given a lovely booth away from the bar area. There are lots of nice menu choices if you do not want beef. Two sides are included with your beef selection which is nice as well as one sauce. Our steak was cooked to perfection. Service was great -- never felt rushed but were well taken care of.

The Sunday roast-beef prix
The Sunday roast-beef prix fixe menu is not only a bargain; it is superb without regard to its price. Though its basics don't change, there are little tweaks from time to time that prevent the repeat customer from being bored.
The service was very solicitous but two errors were made - initial delivery of horseradish sauce instead of Bearnaise, and of the wrong flavor of ice cream at dessert. Both were quickly remedied.
7/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Three things made our meal here great. 1). Waiter was attentive and personable. 2). They customized an appetizer for us and, when we split an entrée, didn't just bring and extra plate, but portioned it beautifully before bringing to the table. 3). Food (steak and sides) was excellent.

One of our party thought that
One of our party thought that there was too much salt on his steak. The waiter took the partly eaten steak back and then returned with a new (low salt) steak. The other three parties in our group were very satisfied with their meal.

Romance is in the Air
What a great place to enjoy a romantic date night, awesome food and great dessert! The staff was friendly and courteous, made us feel special, we will be back again soon!

I'm not much on steak houses, and have frequented their bar (mostly because they carry Rusty Blade, which is my new BFF). I like creative, fun, delicious food. Went there to meet a friend and I wanted quiet place to talk, and was very surprised by how good the food was. And the service was excellent - starting with the waitress coming up and asking if I wanted a Rusty Blade neat (the bartender apparently seeing me come in). I'll be back.

The family and I went out
The family and I went out to dinner on Sunday because my husband really wanted prime rib, we brought our 13 year old and almost 2 year old. I was sand offish at first about bringing the kids, but the staff were friendly to both of the kids and had the table ready for the youngest with crayons and an etch-a-sketch.
To Start- oysters and ceviche along with a salad for our first course. All delicious!
Entrees- I had the salmon which was very fresh and seasonal, my husband had the prime rib which he enjoyed very much and our oldest had the filet The meat was cooked perfectly to medium rare like requested. I can't forget dessert - We shared the chocolate cake, strawberry shortcake and crème brulee!
We will all be back!

My prime rib came out well
My prime rib came out well done and not medium as I ordered. I informed our waiter and the restaurant manager promptly resolved this matter and brought out another piece to my liking. I dined on a Sunday at 8pm and it was quietening down. Overall the food and the staff were great.

A difference at the LB Steak M. P.
We had been to LB Steak at Santana Row in San Jose about a year ago and were not very impressed. Living in San Carlos, it was a bit of a drive, but we went down to San Jose for the "Santana Row" experience, which was fun. After reading a recent review in the S.F. Chronicle, we decided to give the Menlo Park LB Steak a try and we found it to be far superior to the Santana Row experience. The Bread was fantastic, service and food were great and the menu was set up where when you order a filet, it came with two side orders and a special sauce. The LB in San Joes was completely ala-carte, the bread tasted like it was old and had been warmed in the microwave and service was mediocre. What a difference at the Menlo Park LB Steak!
8/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
The meat is deliciously cooked and desolves in your mouth. Excellent wine choices, attentive service and checked on us a good amount. They were also very excited about our recent engagement and helped us celebrate!
8/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
A clever approach to boeuf et. al.
In addition to an energetic and enthusiastic staff, the restaurant offers a focus on MEAT that allows for different cuts, different presentation, and assorted sides. Rather than fix the side dishes, the diner can choose whichever luscious accompaniment he or she wants to complement the meat. We went in for filet mignon and were not disappointed. And they really made us feel special!

Back again! It seems when
Back again! It seems when my wife and I think about going out we head to LB. We came in and Christopher, the manager greeted us by name at the door. Both my wife and I feel so comfortable here. The Staff is always friendly and welcoming, the steaks are cooked perfectly. My wife isn't much of a steak eater so she tends to get some of the seafood options and we are always impressed by the quality. We will be keeping LB at the top of our dining short list for a while.

Great for red meat lovers & others
Always very low key friendly service. First off the bar is first class, they have at least 20 bourbons. Most high end steak houses give you a great steak alone on a plate, then they push the expensive side dishes. LB has fresh vegetable sides and the price of the steak includes 2 sides, most of which are large enough to share. My steak was a perfect dry aged strip, non better. The ceasar salad was lightly dressed and not drenched in heavy thick dressing. They have a Prime Rib special, which must be a money looser, Call ahead to double check. A very nice cut of perfect Prime Rib, salad, sides and house made ice cream. I can't find the price, I know it is under $30. Unheard of value in a place like this.

Upbeat corner in a mellow town
Suprised us how busy this place was a 6:00 on a week night . Simple, upbeat decor. The bar was busy. Many people already with meals in front of them and obviously an event was starting to come together in the private back room. (always good to know where there's a private room!). Food was interesting and very well presented. Of course, menu heavy on the steak offerings - which is what we expected from LB Steak. None of us had steak, however. One burger, one scallops, one halibut. All tasty but too salty.
Cesar salad was not special. Other two salads were beautify and tasty - but too salty. Would recommend, but tell them to hold the salt.

Our First Experience
This was our first visit to LB Steak and it certainly was enjoyable. We're already planning a meal there with friends. Both my wife's fish and my steak were first rate. Very nicely seasoned and tender. We would like to see a few more red wines on the wine list, maybe another couple of pinots, but what we had was good. Our server, Chris did a fine job keeping us happy and checking in often. Also appreciated the frequent water refills without having to ask. The ambiance was very pleasant with warm woods and contrasting lighting. The noise level was moderate with some carry-over from the bar area , but not annoying. The rest rooms were beautiful and unbelievably clean. They looked like a photo shoot set for a plumbing fixture manufacturer.

Received very good service and overall a very nice restaurant. Food was cooked as desired. Popovers instead of bread a refreshing idea. Definitely a repeat spot..

What a wonderful place. Our waiter was in training, (Mark) and he did an excellent job taking great care of us. We were celebrating my husbands and daughters birthday. The ambiance was wonderful, the food was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.

A fine time, with one caveat
We visited LB Steak in Menlo Park for the first time last night, celebrating our 12th anniversary dinner. They were excellent on several counts (service, attentive and prompt, friendly), prompt seating/reservation checks; follow-up on questions. (We had Mark, a newer waiter, and he was fabulous.) Drinks (martinis, glass of pinot) were lovely. Crab cake app with roasted corn succotash, nice but killed by tartar sauce. Excellent juicy, correctly cooked medium rib eyes. Side dishes were a bit lackluster, but tasty enough. Lovely comp dessert/presentation. But $8 for a bottle of "still water"? When asked "sparkling or still" we assumed the latter was the kind of water we wouldn't pay for. Lesson learned. Would give it another try.

LB Steak experience
Service was great and food was good, steak was a little fatty for a $52 steak. Good sides and sauce included which was nice. Good place for a casual business meeting.

Quaint, yet active gem Menlo Park
Finally, Menlo Park is attempting to move away from the boring, mundane. LB has a very nice bar to either share a drink with a date, grab a quick bite or just wait for your table. Food is fresh, well prepared, great for small intimate party or small group dinner (backroom available)
Even though it is a "steak restaurant" they have a great selection for the vegetarians both fresh fish and veggie meals that are awesome and not an afterthought.
Wine list is decent, drinks creative and staff are friendly. Even the coffee was excellent which can always be a gamble at a restaurant. It was hot, fresh and rich in flavor!
Hopefully this review won't make it hard to get a table in the future.

We spent a nice quite Saturday evening at LB Steak. Our booth was comfortable. Service attentive. Food well prepared, good portions and tasty. We did have the chocolate cake - it was dry. We will definitely go again!

If you love steak......
This is the place to go. Cooked to perfection. They serve wonderful popovers instead of bread. Great sides also. We will be back soon.

Great Steakhouse, no Franchise Vibe
Took a shot at LB Menlo wihout much thought. Pleasant place with parking nearby. Steaks were the play for us - filet and NY. Both prepared as requested and high quality. 2 sides come with the steak entrees, though they are not big portions. We started with oysters. They were excellent - very fresh with ground horseradish and red sauce - perfect. They tout their "Tomahawk Chop" for 2, but they were out of that - we were eating late on a Saturday. Wine list good. Service was very good - they did not hover around or push us at all. Note, they charge for water (even "still" -- they bring it bottled) which is kind of cheesy, but other than that, it definitely made the short list for return dining.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Really had a wonderful dinner and I would characterize the steaks as execellent perhaps among the best in this area. One of best meals I have had is 7 years in this region.

Another steakhouse - yawn
Went for a business meeting/dinner. The restaurant is very nice and has a great feel to it. The steaks ordered were prime beef but did not seem like prime. They weren't bad but not as good as many other steak places in the valley. Overall a nice place for a good but not great steak.
10/20/2013 5:00:00 PM
Excellent and creative service. This LB Steak is so much better than the Santana Row location. Same basic menu although new to this visit was a pre-fix 3 course meal for $45. An excellent idea and priced very well.
Server didn't skip a beat when presented with our own wines and cake.
While you could hear background chatter, tables are set far enough apart to allow privacy.
We dined from 7:30 to 10:00, and though the restaurant was full, never once felt hurried or ignored.
A marvelous place. Menu is limited, but everything is prepared and served perfectly. No matter what your taste, you should be able to satisfy your palate. The Starter Menu alone is worth a visit. Do try the beet salad - heaven on a plate!

Food and service were very good. Nice additions - popover early and a cookie with the bill gives a nice touch to the dining experience.

Five of us dined late. We began with a perfectly balanced barrel aged Manhattan. Our group shared a variety of appetizers including the pork belly, a persimmon and squash salad and a wedge. The dishes were well crafted with terrific ingredients and nicely seasoned. For entrees, two had Bone In Filet appropriately cooked, a Tomahawk chop Medium rare and Passemore Sturgeon with exotic and wild mushrooms. The foods were superb. Service was attentive. This was our fifth visit to LB Steak and the first in four months. The establishment is hitting its stride. I would prefer to see a few different desserts as I have hankerings for pecan or lemon meringue pie. We will definitely return. The experience was outstanding, Thank you,

Great dinner and service
Was a little concerned based on earlier reviews but felt that Left Bank always seeks to improve itself. Happy to report that we all agreed the dinner was great - the food and service were both very good. We celebrated two birthdays (although I had forgotten to tell the wait staff when I made the reservation) and it went beautifully, even with our self brought cake. Hopefully this restaurant will pick up in foot traffic a little more as it deserves to do well and is much needed in Menlo Park.

Another great dinner at LB Steak
LB Steak has become one of the restaurants I go to trusting that it will always be a good experience. This last dinner was no exception. Our server Magdy was excellent. My wife and I again had the Tomahawk Rib-eye for two, but this time we spent some time at the bar prior to dinner. There we had the house’s version of a Horse’s Neck with fresh made ginger beer and it was fantastic. I can’t say enough good things about LB Steak.

Back again, I have to say,
Back again, I have to say, my heart dropped when I found out my favorite restaurant had a new chef. But I have to say that LB Steak has found its niche, the new items on the menu are fresh and wonderfully creative. The new chef seems to be a perfect fit! It seemed like there was excitement and passion from our server in what he was serving. It just goes to show that LB Steak really knows what they are doing. This will continue to be my spot for date night!
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
I had the bone-in filet - a rare option for cut. It's was great. However - both my guest and I ordered medium rare - but his came out undercooked and mine was overcooked. So execution was a little inconsistent, but flavor was outstanding anyway.
