This is only the second time
This is only the second time I have been to the restaurant since Via Emilia's expanded. I had a nice quiet spot for myself and my dinner guest. We each had an individual glass of wine, a nice appetizer and main course and these huge servings of lemon sorbet for dessert. A very nice evening, with attentive service and great atmosphere for catching up with a friend.

The food is good but a bit pricey. The ambience and service are excellent. However, I wish their eggplant dishes were less heavy and lighter on the cheese. I love eggplant, but I won't order it there again. It is way to heavy and not very flavorful - just cheese and tomato sauce. Probably my biggest issue is with the bread. An Italian restaurant should have great bread. The bread here is just not worth the calories. It has no substance - like basic white bread with a slightly crispier crust. It is usually the first thing you have when you eat there - it should be memorable - and not in a bad way.

Great Italian restaurant
Great menu and wine list with knowledgeable servers. Owner/Manager is very present and will likely visit your table to chat. We have now been twice and the experience was consistent - excellent! Great place to meet friends for a pleasant evening of dining....

A nice quiet Sunday lunch. No live music, but nice visits w/ the wait staff and a delicious meal.

We don't live far from Via Emilia. My mom came into town for a visit and we decided to give the restaurant a try. I am glad we did! The overall quality was truly amazing. The owner's presence was felt and seen. As a business owner myself I can appreciate his passion. Our waiter was kind and knowledgeable. The food was outstanding. Did you know they make their own limoncello? Yum! We will be back to Via Emilia for sure.
6/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food continues to be consistently great. Well prepared and tasty.
Staff is very friendly, warm, and welcoming.
Lots of great options both in the menu and wine list.
Still our top choice when I go out to eat with my family and want a nice evening out. I've come a few times during my lunch work break too and sat at the bar. Had the tilapia lunch special last time, was really good.

Great place for friends to dine.
Food and atmosphere were good. Only complaint was 1 guest thought the chicken piccata was too salty. Other than that everything was great. Sea bass was awesome. The pineapple shrimp appetizer was the best shrimp appetizer I've ever had.

Amazing every time.
This is my third trip to Via Emilia, but my husband's first. We ordered the filet and it was perfect. I've had a lot of steaks, but this filet was so tender, it could have been cut with a spoon. The mussels were well seasoned and delicious. All of the food was outstanding. I love the family atmosphere among the servers. And although we did not take our children here (it's a little expensive, I think, for a family night out), it would be OK for well-behaved kids.
Service is exactly what you'd expect for a high end restaurant. The manager brought us home-made limoncello with our check envelope. We ordered a bottle of Godschmidtt red blend that was as good as dessert.
Ask for the pineapple/shrimp/avocado appetizer.

Sun Eve date
Had a nice dinner here tonight. Chose the Wild Salmon - a good choice. The avocado salad never disappoints. Always fresh.
7/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
A little off tonight
Had the same dinner tonight as last night. My waiter tonight was not as knowledgeable or helpful as the regulars. Pleasant but not as experienced. Salad was good but a little low on dressing tonight. Salmon was very greasy and way too salty. Too much butter on the pasta as well. Meal was swimming in it. This dish is usually better. I will be back - but the Sunday crew needs to focus.
7/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
I took my husband there for his birthday with friends and the dinner was wonderful. Thank you for a great evening.

Great Italian food close to home
We enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and wine, and, the service. Special fig and Gorgonzola appetizer was interesting and tasty. My husband had a great caprese salad and the special pork dish. It was beautifully prepared-tender, moist and full of flavor.
I loved the grilled pear salad. The gnocchi was the only disappointment of the evening. It was dry and the sauce was not very flavorful. But, I will definitely dine here again and make another selection.

We were impressed!
My wife suggested this place after seeing an ad in the paper. It is outside of our usual area but thought it would be a nice change. We did make reservations but still had to wait about 10 minutes for our table. The service was very good and the good was also delicious. We really enjoyed the pear and cheese apps. We will definitely go back!

Good Food...reasonable prices...comfortable atmosphere...great service! Will definitely go back!

Took the wife for a date. Service is excellent, good wines in all price ranges and the food is always excellent.

A must try
Excellent Italian restaurant, service & food outstanding, yummy selections of wine.

The food & service was impeccable,
The food & service was impeccable, but the nose level was not expected. It was not at all conducive to conversation, which was the very reason for choosing this restaurant.
8/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nice Friday nite dining
Had a very nice dining experience. Wine was good, dinner was good. Will come back.
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Again a great experience
As this was not our first diner at this place we knew what to expect. And again the food is delicious waiters are friendly. The kids love this place for their pasta's. Overall a very nice experience

Lunch at Via Emilia
The food was excellent. I had the pork medallions. Service was also excellent, perhaps too attentive as far as repeated inquires as to whether everything was ok. Very nice atmosphere.
I thought it was a bit pricey for lunch especially paying $3.00 for a coke. I do plan to return and would recommend it to friends.
8/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great dining experience
Dined here with a large group, everything we ordered was delicious. Appetizers- bacon wrapped dates, stuffed mushrooms, Pear and spinach salads were terrific. The wine list is pretty nice, you're sure to find something you love. The food was great. Pork shank was awesome. Everyone had positive remarks about their food.
They had live piano music which was a plus, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. So if you're looking for a nice place out for good food/service in the Woodlands, I highly recommend it.

Great Service, Tasty Food!
Our evening at Via Emilia was great from start to finish. We (4 of us) had reservations and went a little early to check out the bar and were pleasantly surprised how fun it was. The bar tender was friendly and wine knowledgable. We were seated right on time and our waiter was the best, he was attentive, not pushy. We each had something different and everything was tasty, especially the eggplant lasagna. The deserts are homemade and the lemoncello cake was excellent.
They really want you to enjoy your evening and experience. (not a burn and churn restaurant like so many in Market St/Water Way area)
Very busy restaurant--they're doing alot right!
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
I am not able to dine at Via Emilia as often as I would like but I am never disappointed when I go there. The food is authentic Italian cuisine and the owner is from Italy. During lunch you can hear the Italian music playing softly as you eat and the décor makes you feel as if you really are in Italy. All the guests I have taken there have enjoyed the good food.
8/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
I've lived in cities with great authentic Italian restaurants and this ranks up there with some of my favorites. The food was great, the staff was friendly and attentive. We celebrated our 9 year old daughters birthday and it was a great experience for the whole family. Whether you have on a suit and tie or golf shirt and jeans you would feel welcome.

Last minute gem
At the last minute we made a reservation and went to Via Emilia for dinner. The figs ere outstanding and the wild boar ravioli was delectible. In fact I took the left overs home and my son loved it. We have never been disappointed.

Just gets better
It is no secret. I love this restaurant. The owner is always there and always attentive to every detail. The hosts & hostesses are always personable and the waiters very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the offerings on the menu and for the day. This is a nice place to hang out after a long day.
9/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Wife and I had a date night.
This was our first visit. We had driven by it over the last two years and decided to try it out for our date night. What a great selection we made. Fast, friendly, no rush kind of dining experience. We felt at home with our experience.

Great Food & Wonderful Service
First visit to this location but had been to Via Emilia's on FM 1960 many times in past. The food was great and the service was even better. So great to be able to have a conversation during a romantic dinner without having to shout at one another! In other words it was very quiet.
Make reservations for weekends in particular. I can't wait to go back!

Two thumbs up for Via Emilia
I hadn't been to Via Emilia for about a year and since I had been there, they have doubled the size of the Restaurant. The expansion was tastefully done. The food was outstanding and me and my friend both ordered seafood dishes that were outstanding. One dish was Chilean Sea Bass and the other was Red Snapper...each was cooked perfectly. We also had the appetizer of prosciutto wrapped figs which was delicious. The food and atmosphere were very nice but best of all was our excellent waiter who was very personable and professional. If I hadn't struck up a conversation with him I'm sure he would have remained quiet however he was interesting and we enjoyed chatting.
I recommend Via Emilia and look forward to returning soon.

This restaurant never ceases to amaze me with the quality in emphasizes in every aspect of the dining experience. The daily specials are consistently spectacular and I've yet to find an option on the menu that I haven't adored.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
love the location at the back of the woodlands--away from market street crowds. a real gem!
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Via Emilia just keeps getting better. Great wine, great service, extensive variety of Italian specialties, and an overall well run operation. Service is prompt, but paced if you want it slower. You never feel pushed to finish a course. The wine list is extensive and the menu is wide-ranging. If you want something Italian and it's not on the menu, just ask. If you want a black napkin, just ask. They are very accommodating. If you have a special event, they will work with you to achieve whatever result you want, and all at very reasonable prices for this quality. It's our "go-to" spot for a special dinner and place to invite friends.

My Daughter took me out for my Birthday. First time visit. They were out of the Wild Board so I had the Veal instead. Not a bad second. Cooked Superbly. OUtstanding service etc from the moment arrived til parted.

The secret's out...
Judging by the crowds encountered each time we visit Via Emilia, the secret is out about this neighborhood gem. Their food is excellent. The specialty appetizers are always enticing, but the carpaccio is a family favorite. The pastas are fabulous, and the braised meats (and we've tried them all) are outstanding! I recommend making reservations to be sure to get a table.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Dining at Via Emilia is a comfortable as well as enjoyable experience with outstanding wait-staff and consistently good food.

Unimpressive location, great food!
Third time eating there and it's been a fabulous Italian meal great every time. The location is unimpressive but the ambiance inside is surprisingly good and the service is very good too. This time I had an off menu special, baby goat prepared Osso Bucco style. It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. They will fix you your favorite Italian dishes even if they're not on the menu (like pasta Putanesca in my case). One or two nice appetizers that are not on the menu too - just ask! Try the Pancrazio Chianti. Nice bottle and you won't find it anywhere else. Tasty spumoni ice cream for dessert, also not on the menu. A bit pricey, but you deserve a real treat once in a while, right?
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I loved this place! Can't wait to go back.
10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Enjoyed a delicious dinner. Actually was nicer than I expected. Food and wine were wonderful. Definitely a special occasion favorite!

Took my daughter here for her BD. Wonderful service, food, and birthday dessert. Always a treat.
10/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Via Emilia is a wonderful restaurant with great food. The service is good but if they improved in this area I would give them 5-starts.

Dinner with my Mom
From the time you walk in you just RELAX, the ambiance is out of this world. The service was amazing, food was so good. I have to say the best lasagna I have ever had. Now we chose this restaurant for another reason also. This restaurant made gnocchi, and I have yet to find a restaurant to make it the way my mothers itallian friend made it years ago. She said the gnocchi was okay. She said they weren't firm enough, too soft, but she enjoyed it. The desert was out of this world along with the cappuccino's. I'll tell you what, this is where you want to go for a romantic dinner also!!

Via Emilia has always been good
For years my wife and I enjoyed Via Emilia on FM 1960 and loved it. They moved to The Woodlands and I finally tried it for a business lunch the other day. As usual, it was excellent. Service just great, food perfect and the ambiance just right. Loved it and will be back!
11/10/2013 4:00:00 PM
All but one
There are some great waiters at this restaurant - we love most all of them. They laugh, smile, are very attentive, always glad to see you, and are always excited about suggesting items on the menu. There is only one waiter we get from time to time that is not as enthusiastic about the food and the experience. He is also very hard to understand unfortunately. It is just hard to give 5 starts when we know what the usual experience is here. Maybe next time!
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Any time of day
We can always count on getting what we expect - any time of day. Remains our favorite neighborhood place.
11/19/2013 4:00:00 PM
I love dining with live music
I love dining with live music and Via Emilia has almost everyday live music, last three times there was a pianist, Victor, who had a great repertoire and plays clasics that everybody loves. Love the romantic atmosphere and good wine.

Elegant Italian Dining
Via Emilia is in an out of the way spot where one would not expect to find a restaurant. I jus happened to spot it one day. We took the opportunity to dine there one evening. From the outside it does not look like a typical restaurant and we wondered as we arrived, if it was even open. However, once inside it is like stepping into another world. The decor fits the Italian dining and the wall of wine is impressive. The food was excellent. We had fried calamari and it was the freshest I have had in a long time. The food selection was just right and the flavors were wonderful. It is definitely a restaurant that is not on our list of favorites.
