Great Spanish food
I have long avoided restaurant row as a tourist trip but since there is a lack of spanish restaurants we decided to give this a try. Good thing too - it was great. We were seated immediately and the waiter explained the beverages to us. We got the Sangria and it was delicious. Waiter told us the specials and answered all our questions about the menu. Our appetizers came in a 3 tiered serving tray to save table space. We got the calamari - a bit mushy; Sardines - good but not like in Spain; Croquetas de Yuca with spinach and cheese - should have gotten more. Our entree for 4 people was the Paella Valencia(we ordered a 2 person portion, good thing) it was very good. Plenty of seafood and not overspiced. Yummy! We will be back

Food was really good and hostess
Food was really good and hostess and waiter were friendly. The only downside is that the restaurant is a bit noisy but we will definitely go again. Also, restaurant is nearby all theaters!

We were going to have an early
We were going to have an early dinner before seeing a show. We hadn't eaten all day and decided to go earlier, between the lunch and early dinner crowd. They were very accommodating. The service was great. The food was really good. They gave us a free shot of vodka with a pineapple in it. It was a really nice touch and was an excellent vodka. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend the restaurant to anyone thinking of going there.

Dinner and a Lucky Guy
My wife and I dinned at S46 before attending Lucky Guy on Friday night. We arrived with just a few tables occupied, but as the dinner hour progressed the restaurant filled. The music was a tad too loud for casual conversation, but certainly energetic and pleasant sounding. Our food was great... the Sangria tasty. My wife had Paella, I ordered Rice with shrimp and Chorizo... both dishes were great... the Paella was so good that I regretted not ordering it myself...even though my dish was very tasty.

First time at this restaurant.
First time at this restaurant. Had a very good choice or prix-fixe meal for lunch pre-theatre. While service was a little slow, would try this place once again.

We ate here before a Sunday Matinee. The food was delicious, the service was lovely, and they really helped us out of a tourist type pickle (even though we are locals- so embarrassing). Thanks so much Sangria 46. We'll be back! :)

The restaurant was quite busy
The restaurant was quite busy even though it was 5:30 on a weekday night, plus there was a very large group having dinner, which added a lot to the noise level. The sangria was delicious, as well as the mariscada and shrimps ajillo. This is a perfect spot for a pre-theater dinner, the waitstaff were very accommodating, attentive, and made sure that we would be on time for a 7:00 curtain.

We love Sangria 46
We have gone to Sangria 46 numerous times. So convenient to the theatre district. We always order the peach sangria...so good. We ordered many different things off the menu and always enjoyed our meals and tapas.
Give Sangria 46 a try.....I bet you'll like it!!!

Taste Spain in the Theatre District
Sangria 46 is a great way to discover the tastes of Spain, with good Spanish wine and attentive service, especially before or after going to the theatre. It's especially fun to order several dishes from the large tapas menu and share. The wait staff will help diners decide. Be sure to ask how spicy the dishes are so that there are no surprises.

Both food and service surprised
Both food and service surprised on the up-side based on some of the reviews we had read. Great menu with excellent selections. We loved the Paella and all of our dishes. Service was courteous and friendly. Atmosphere nicely informal. We look forward to returning.

Enjoyed our dinner
Did the price fix pre theater and all enjoyed our meals. Chicken and sausage Paella and Shrimp in garlic sauce were tasty. Stuffed mushroom appetizer delicious though small mushrooms. Fresh apple pie with ice cream capped off a nice meal. Excellent service. Restaurant a little empty on a Tuesday night pre theater. Surprising for restaurant row. Would go back. Lovely outdoor dining space in the back- would request next time in good weather.

we loved Sangria 46!
We had passed by so many times and never stopped in, but we are so happy that we finally did. The food was just great . Waitstaff and hostess couldn't have been more welcoming. Can't wait to return.

Our daughter recommended this restaurant to us since we were in the city seeing a show. It was a very pleasant surprise. The food, wait staff and hostess were all terrific. Our waiter recommend selections from the menu he thought we would enjoy and we did.The food was fantastic and the portions were very satisfying. We would definitely eat here again when we get to the city.

While the decor is, um, "simple", this is a very friendly place quite convenient to many Broadway theaters. The food is excellent and for a casual dinner it's great.

Definitely worth a visit
Traveling from out of town, we looked up on Open Table and liked what we read so we went to eat there. Food was very, very good and so was the service. Great location if you are in the theater district or Times Square. Would recommend to friends and family.

Sangria 46 and Sangria
We had a pitcher of red sangria and enjoyed every last drop. The 6 kinds of tapas we ordered were each a perfect dish.
7/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
The tapas selection is pretty good and all that we tries were quite tasty if not exactly outstanding. The service is friendly. We visited during lunch-time and the place was largely empty and quiet.

My mother and I dined here on 8/31/13 before a show. The staff at the restaurant was extremely friendly, welcoming and attentive. I have food allergies and when I asked our server Valentino if the paella contained tomatoes, he told me he would check with the chef and learn if it could be made for me without tomatoes. He then asked for my entire order so he could check on each item to make sure nothing contained tomatoes. The chef was able to accommodate my needs and made the paella for me without tomatoes. I have managed a customer service department for over 20 years and Sangria 46 got it right!
And for the food...absolutely delicious! Everything was fresh, arrived at the table hot and was absolutely delicious! I cant wait to return.
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was very good and the service was quick - it was perfect for a pre-theater dinner. The peach/strawberry sangria was delicious and refreshing. The only thing was there was a special on the opentable for a small pitcher of sangria and two tapas for $22 that wasn’t available in the restaurant.

I always have an enjoyable experience at Sangria 46. This time I came with friends who were new to the restaurant. We all enjoyed a great meal and terrific service.

Authentic & Delicious
We visited NYC and was in the mood for Spanish food, so a simple Google search came up with this restaurant. We couldn't be happier with the food which I felt was authentic (although I've only been to Spain once and can't claim to be an expert). Regardless, the food was very tasty and was served hot and fresh. I had their arroz con pollo and my BF had their pork tenderloin in sherry sauce. We shared an order of churros for dessert. I think we ate everything on our plates and even attempted to lick the chocolate sauce at the bottom of the churros plate! :-)
There were a lot of waiters on that evening. However, we'd have to say that service was good, but not outstanding given the number of servers around.

Will Definately Visit Again
Staff very accommodating. Wait service personable and efficient. Apps and entrées worth remembering, especially, the grilled octopus. The skirt steak was prepared to perfection. We dined in the garden room and overall the weather, atmosphere, diner and sangria contributed to beautiful evening.

Great Pre Theater Dinner
The restaurant did not start getting busy until after 7 pm onTuesday night. Our party of 4 enjoyed the large pitcher of sangria with our delicious meals. The steak was tender and juicy and the fish, stew and shrimp dishes were tasty and nice size portions. We topped off our meal with apple pie alamode and the guys had irish coffee too. All in all we definitely would return. The price fixed dinner was also a good value at $30.

Special Treat Waiting
Wonderful food, ample portions and friendly staff make for a delicious evening out at Sangria 46 in the heart of NYC's theatre district. Go! Be so pleasantly surprised! The perfect compliment to a really good show!

Worth the walk
Sangria 46 is a hidden gem on what is called Restaurant Row. It is on 46 St. between 8th and 9th. Keep walking. My sister and I dined there and loved it. The sangria(6 glasses) $26.00 very reasonable and good. I had the shrimps in aliola that was delicious. My sister's risotta with figs was so good I was eating off her plate as well. Service was very good.
10/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
My wife, our son & I went after a Sunday matinee. Loved the decor. The menu is quite varied. Skip the meatballs tapas, they were cold and tasteless. The shrimp in garlic and the bacon wrapped scallops were very good. The churrasco was fair. Not much taste and a bit tough. The salmon was yummy, and the paella was awesome. (The paella is made to order and takes 25 mins, but is worth the wait.) The red sangria was also good. The staff is both friendly and attentive. We would go back and do recommend Sangria 46.

Pre theatre find
Great place for a pre theatre dinner, we had great service, it is busy, so it is loud and a bit warm....the sangria was off the hook good...I will be back!

Sangria 46 review
Relaxed atmosphere, and great food. Table of 8, and everyone liked their food, yet reasonably priced, especially the prix fix menu. But not easy to have a group conversation - too noisy and loud the entire time we were at the restaurant 7p-9:30p, and even tough to have conversation with person seated next to you. Service very good, with friendly staff

Phenomenal Staff with middling food
Although the staff couldn't do enough for us and held our reservation for the rest of my party that was over an hour late, the food itself was middling. The Prix fixe menu held a bland & watery bean soup, a paltry '2 small shrimp and bits of sausage entree and a nice flan. The traditional Sangria was very good though. Another entree was a rather bland salmon dish. The staff however was extremely friendly and got us to our play on time .

Great food at reasonable prices,
Great food at reasonable prices, especially for NYC. . . as long as you don't mind a bit of a crowded dining area.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
The menu was quite extensive in both entrees and tapas. I ordered a shrimp rice dish that was quite good. Also exceptional was the squid ink seafood dish.
Most impressive was the service. They aim to please their customers. We arrived for dinner before the theater and although it was crowded the service was impeccable with lots of attention given to each table. The noise level was a bit high but that's to be expected with a large pre-theater crowd.
I would definitely go back to this restaurant.
