Grea addition to Union Square
The Fourth, at the new Hyatt Hotel on 4th Ave, serves delicious food with a sophisticated, bistro vibe in an inviting environment. I've had three meals here, all notable for great ingredients, inventive recipes and solid execution. Standouts include the crudo, the anglotti with lamb ragu, the lamb tenderloin and the butcher's cut steak. My favorite item was the hache of ramps and spinach - small but sumptuous. The wine list is small but good and the bar makes great cocktails. Desserts also stand out, the chocolate bombe and rhubarb crisp both excellent. They will also make a fruit plate if you prefer. The price point is very fair and makes this a more approachable cousin to Chef Marco Morreira's Tocqueville and Michelin-starred 15 East.

Wonderful dining experience
After reading NY mag for some hints about where to eat over the holiday weekend, we decided to try the newest spot on the list and ended up at The Fourth. The food was light and inventive with classic presentation. The service was refreshing - very attentive without being stuffy. And the drinks were and herbacious and strong. We left feeling satiated but not too full. Definitely worth a try.

A Hyatt Hit at Union Square
Pricey but inventive, tasty and beautifully presented cuisine in a chic setting with very friendly staff. Sadly, our dinner waiter misquoted the wine-by-the-glass by $4, the pouring was VERY small and he kept the extra $8 (for two glasses) on the bill when (to our mind) it should have been subtracted because of his mistake. Smooth, enthusiastic presentation otherwise -- and the hosts at both breakfast and dinner were extremely welcoming. Raises the sophistication level (and average prices) around Union Square to a new level.

Fourth time is a charm
My fourth visit to Fourth was great. Food continues to be excellent - the charcuterie plate and duck entree stood out - and service is now humming. The downstairs communal tables are fun. Challenge the excellent bartenders to make a great drink.

Beautiful space, delicious food
We have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new hotel on the corner of 13th St. and 4th Avenue, but it didn't even occur to us to get excited about the restaurant that might be in its lobby. Little did we know... The Fourth, from the folks that brought you 15 East and Tocqueville, is one of my new favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. The food was amazing, the service friendly, and it wasn't too loud or too crowded. The space is really neat, and I can't wait to go back after they've been open for a bit longer to see how they grow over time.

The Fourth is something a
The Fourth is something a little different from its sister restaurants, Toqueville and 15 East - more informal, more of a neighborhood kind of place you can go to often - lots of choices on the menu. The service is top-notch - accommodating but not overbearing. Great drinks and wine list. We had the foie gras in a jar and the artichoke to start - neither overly large, but they were both rich and very tasty. We had the wild salmon and the hake for the main course - the salmon was cooked perfectly, sorrel sauce was a great addition. The hake is a great combination of bacon-y with the mild fish - the portion didn't look big on the plate, but it was filling in the end. And then my husband and I almost came to blows over the rice pudding!

Continues to get better and better
Fifth visit saw continued high quality food, quite good service and improvements on the drinks menu, where some of the more novel house cocktails seem to have been abandoned. Food highlights include foie gras, all pastas, the chicken and the butcher's cut beef special. Desserts remain a standout. Wine list is small but high quality and well priced.

Nice addition to union square area. Food was excellent as was the service. Like their other places as well.

Just great service
Loved the food. The service was impeccable. Everything the server recommended was delicious and I had a great experience. Would definitely go back! Thank you!

On my sixth visit here, service has caught up to food quality at the Fourth. Attentive and knowledgeable waitress and active bus staff. Food was great, with lobster special for two being delicious, as was the Butcher's Board charcuterie special. Wine list is not huge but well priced and diverse. My party of visitors from Italy loved the pasta, in addition to other items - always a good recommendation!

As NY foodies, we weren't sure what to expect from a new place associated with the new Hyatt, but we liked the cool decor and high ceilings off the bat. We could have a proper conversation over diner - the noise level was just right. Our server had excellent judgment - the spinach and ramps side was FANTASTIC, as was the roasted beet appetizer. Lamb entree was juicy, and pea pasta was delicious. All we ask is more diners, something we expect will come in time, as the place has only been open for 5 weeks.

Wonderful first visit!
All staff were lovely and accommodating, food options were plentiful, wine recommendations from sommelier spot on. Loved the Amish Chicken, Deviled Eggs, Beet Salad and Carrot Cake which was perfect size, i.e. fairly small, perfect for two who really didn't need dessert but wanted it. The space was really fun too. So glad the Tocqueville folks are continuing to grow and try new things.

Beautiful Place Beautiful Food
The food is absolutely perfect.. Service is right on point, friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and was always there whenever our wine glass was empty.. I have to say the experience was perfect and we will be back soon with friends and family.. We sat in the cafe with a view of Fourth Ave.. The space is beautiful..

Superb Place to Meet and Eat

I was there this past Monday night
I had noticed the beautiful space in passing with it's very interesting ceiling art. My wife and I had the deviled eggs (sounds basic but great) and cheese plate (just the right size for an appatizer portion). I had the Risotto (possibly the best I've eaten). My wife had the pork and loved it.Our waiter was having his first night on the floor but did a great job. The management was very accomodating with the A/C requests. Carrot cake desert was spectacular. Looks like it would be a great spot for a few coctails and look forward to trying the brunch there (we live in the hood). Downstairs space for larger parties looks really interesting.
We will definitely go back.
Hope the place takes off! It deserves to.
Cheers & Good Luck,

Great new restaurant!!
The food was great and interior very well done. One of the nice surprises was an assortment of non-alcohol drink specials providing a refreshing start to our meals on a hot summer day. I would highly recommend this new find!

One of the best!
The Fourth is a new addition to the 15 Hospitality Group which brought the dining establishments Tocqueville and the 15 East. Innovative menu offers everything from sharable dishes to chef's daily specials which are served for two. Thursday's Duck is a must! Make sure to choose a bottle of wine from an extensive wine list covering new and old world with the help their wonderful Sommelier Hiromi.
The Fourth serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, late night and weekend brunch so no excuses not to try this great new restaurant right in the heart of the Union Square.

New and delicious
Simply wonderful to have someplace as delightful as The Fourth in our flight path.
The space is enticing and begs exploring
The staff interested and engaging and really truly welcoming
We hope that that will be maintained and not just opening warmth that fades into popularity snobbery
And the food well worth the experience - truly different and tasty
The entire package - somewhat new to the immediate neighborhood

Our server, Mike, was great.
Our server, Mike, was great. We neither felt ignored nor rushed. The food was delicious (pink salted chicken, especially). Definitely will be back!

Very good bread, crusty outside
Very good bread, crusty outside and soft inside. Excellent and memorable small dishes like Roasted beets or heirloom tomatoes with burrata and spinach with ramps. Copperhead salmon was very good. Bronzino was good but could be better if more aromatics like thyme, lavender or rosemary was used during roasting.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good food (related to Tocqueville)
Good service, still not crazy-busy so noise level is still good

FOURTH - Give this place a try.
I am urging you all to try this place. It's in the Hyatt Hotel at Union square next to their lobby bar with the unfortunate name, SINGL. The place was very quiet and we sat at a table next to a large open window on 4th Street, hence the name. We did not expect much. In fact we didn't expect anything. We were wrong. The food was REALLY good. Quality ingredients. The steak, of the best we've had in a restaurant in a long time, perfectly seasoned....Perfectly cooked. There were a few glitches in the ordering, but the big point I want to make is that they are really trying, they care... and you can tell. and The food is GOOD.
There is also a mega installation of chained bed frames in the heart of the restaurant. Worthy of a look-see.

Best cappucino ever
Great service. Hot and delicious food. Salmon - perfect. Brick chicken - melt in your mouth good. Best cappucino ever. No kidding. You must try.

Conforting, food and ambience
Staff was quite pleasant; food was good and duck especially tender; and the physical layout of the place was oddly and genuinely satisfying.

The Fourth - unknown gem
Relaxed, friendly. Connected to the ultra-foodie restaurant Tocqueville but with a more casual atmosphere. Food is delicious and service is good. We cannot recommend it enough.

Praise for The Fourth
A really fine restaurant with great food and a wonderful staff. Friendly, comfortable, expensive but not outrageous.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
The Fourth hasn't been discovered yet so it's still quiet, (which we like). The food is excellent, they are connected to the well-known Tocqueville and it shows. The wine list is good too. Foodies will appreciate this neighborhood spot. Check it out.

Great food and reasonably priced.
The restaurant has become one of my favorite in NYC since it opened in late May. The food was great and the price very reasonable. The menu is simple but very well put together. The waiters are very helpful and the restaurant has nice ambience.
10/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Must try every dish.
After enjoying the culinary delights of The Fourth on four different occasions we are still well impressed with quality and creativity of the dishes, extensive selection of the wines and the cocktails and the unmatched service we received every time. Thank you and see you soon.

A new option for Union Square
We were pleasantly surprised by the inventiveness and quality of the good at The Fourth, in the new Hyatt Union Square. The menu is far more varied than at many places, with various smaller plates as well as the usual options. Standouts included an appetizer like a Salade Nicoise with tuna cured in olive oil -- yum -- and artic char. Lamb chops were okay but less than fabulous, and the accompanying moussaka had too much garlic for my taste. We will go back!
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our timing was perfect. Black Friday at 1:30 pm for a group of 8. We were almost the only table and the service was unbeatable.
We loved the Food. We all took the Prix Fixe and there was not a single complaint at the table. In fact out of our loud group a hush came over the table as we were served.
I'm also a wine person and was very satisfied with our choices.
Highly recommended from our group!

Nice additin to the neighborhood. Lovely, carefully designed dining area. The menu is not particularly exciting but servicable. The port shnitzel was a a little overcooked and crunchy but had a porky taste and the veggies were excellent. Pasta was a bit skimpy but tasty. The chicken cooked under a brick was lovely and juicy.
We did not order starters because nothing looked too exciting. There should be a greater selection.
The warm choclate cake and the apple crumble were VERY nice
Would be nice if they had a pre-theatre dinner.
Try it-you'll like it!
