Really enjoyed it! Good food,
Really enjoyed it! Good food, wine expensive and glass small! Became noisy later in the evening but nobody seemed to care!!! Small and very busy- definitely will return!

Neighborhood Italian w Great Pasta!
Very good food though very pricey for the portion sizes... Too high a corkage fee for us wine-heads.

third street, but first rate
Each dish was memorable. The octopus was amazing, not like anything that I have had before. It was not chewy, but tender and very tasty. The lamb meatballs were flavorful and the pastas were very small portions, but incredibly tasty. To top off the evening, we were seated with a view of Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel at another table. It was a great night!

The restaurant is small &
The restaurant is small & intimate which is nice if you have a reservation... probably not so good if you come in during busy hours w/o a reservation. The polipo (baby octopus), cauliflower, carbonara, & agnoloti were really top notch. One of the top 3 dinners my wife & I have had since we moved to LA 9 months ago... and that is saying a lot because we eat out a lot! The toasted coconut gelatto pie was really really f'in good! We loved it.

Fantastic food, we will be back
Great evening for the 4 of - the food was amazing, all of it, salads, entrees, pizza and pasta. Seemed reasonably priced for location. Service was excellent- only one thing though- we were in the first seating of the night and server definitely wanted to move us along so table could be turned over. We were not rushed, however she was making sure we did not linger.

Really good classic Italian
Really good classic Italian fare. The staff are super nice, and the wine list, while not extensive, is excellent and fairly priced.

It's just delicious. Period.
It's just delicious. Period. The branzino was amazing. The broccolini, which they currently don't have, was simple and perfect. Hope they bring it back. The pasta very good.

A genuine step above....
...what you might expect from the relatively simple physical setup. (Reminded us of our favorite neighborhood restaurant in Paris.) Very impressive, warm service. Excellent presentation. Superb food! Best burrata I've had in L.A. Wonderful pasta.

Continues to be a great restaurant. Desserts needs to be more exciting and presented so they can be shared.

Best Resturant on 3'rd
Food is exceptionally good, a little on high $ side.

Authentic Italitan Dining
A small intimate spot much like a gem that one finds while strolling in Frienze or driving in Tuscany but it is on busy 3rd Street in LA. the food is excellent I am a great fan of the carbonara: but have always found the appotizers inventive in fact the chef has found a way to make our local artichokes taste like Rome artichokes!! The wines are a positive adventure.. Do not miss the coconut ice cream pie!!!

Great find in a busy area
The food was delicious. Portions are just the right size...leaves room for dessert. The restaurant itself isn't very large, so expect a wait if you don't make a reservation. My friend and I had reservations for 7 and we didn't leave until 9:30. The staff never made us feel rushed and let us enjoy the wine and conversation well after we'd finished our meals.

Don't Get The Hype
Pastas were good to great, apps and mains were good. They paired lamb loin with peccorino which, instead of complimenting the lamb, accented its gaminess to near inedible levels.
If I want great pasta, I'd probably trek to Sotto but knowing this is closer it's nice to have an option.

One of the best L.A restaurants
Gusto deserves no less than all 5 stars. I haven't eaten this good in L.A, everything is fresh and every dish is a mouth watering experience.
I'll be coming back soon!

A Gem indeed
Terrific food, obviously selected and prepared by a kitchen who simply "know how to cook" and then do just that!! Very impressed with the blend of taste achieved by subtle spices and herbs. My Italian grandmother would be impressed and even ask you for a recipe or two!!

Great service, food and experience
We always have a wonderful time at gusto. Amber is the best and the food is unbeatable.

Went with a chef friend and
Went with a chef friend and his wife and we were ALL impressed and will all definitely go back. I would have given it a full 5 stars but it gets pretty noisy. I LOVED the pastas (we had the mushroom/truffle agnolotti and sweet corn/shrimp risotto), salmon (line caught wild) and skirt steak were both really good. Service was great. Just overall a really good time.
6/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Been here before but even better the second time. Service was perfect, food was delicious and fresh, and the place was small but lively (without being noisy)
6/26/2013 4:00:00 PM
We had dinner at Gusto after our wedding on Wednesday night. Our server Jazz and the whole staff were wonderful. When we arrived they had a table for 6 set up in the center of the room. The food and wine were delicious and the service outstanding. It was the perfect end to a perfect day!

Amazing food but tiny menu!!
The food was amazing at Gusto and the service was phenominal. We felt like the waitress was there just for us. She was so nice & incredibly helpful.
But the menu needs to be much bigger. Very tiny selection.

A bit noisy but excellent food
Fantastic meal and service. Stellar homemade pasta. Venue seemed romantic from the outside but noise level was pretty high given the tight space and close tables. Older (60+) crowd on almost all tables when we arrived, but younger parties popped up later on.
9/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
We have dined here three or four times. While the entrees can be pricey, they are unfailingly exciting and imaginative. Service was efficient and friendly. The restaurant is a little on the noisy side, otherwise it would be perfect.

Best Homemade Pasta in LA
Went for Anniversary Dinner after friend mentioned they went the week before. Located on a busy 3rd Street in LA, this place was amazing! It looked like a little joint you'd hit up in NYC.... Small number of tables, cozy place, and amazing food. Pasta was out of this world, cooked with Oxtail. We split a bottle of wine, two appetizers, a pasta, an entree, and the coconut gelato pie. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. (We went on a Wednesday night)

Excellent menu that changes
Excellent menu that changes regularly. Brilliantly executed. It's expensive, but I'd rather pay for Gusto once a month than go somewhere average once a week.

Quaint fab food
3rd street is loaded with options so what a great surprise to have ambiance along with great taste and service
We had a great evening

Fabulous meal. The food was outstanding..everything was delicious. This is now my favourite restaurant in LA.
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
The second time here. Liked it the first time; enjoyed even more this time. Small restaurant, small menu but everything we had was beautifully prepared and very flavorful. The crostini and the shaved brussel sprout salad were both great starters. The carbonara was superb and the ravioli were amazing. The squash filling was silken and the pasta was light as a feather. The fish and steak main courses were also of high quality. The deserts were good and completed the meal but not as special as the previous courses. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was fantastic and the waitresses were pleasant and efficient. The only reason I gave a low rating for service was because the kitchen was extremely slow. Thirty minutes before we got our first course and even longer for the main course. I believe this was an off night, but the food was worth the wait.

Outstanding Neighborhood Find
The food and service were stellar. We'd go back in a flash, but probably could have managed with fewer dishes. Server kept stressing how "small" the plates were, but we were full after two appetizers and ended up taking half of our food home.
For "foodies" with a predilection for Italian cuisine, this is your place!
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food was incredible. Truly. Familiar dishes felt new again. Black pasta was amazing, but fyi more spicy than you'd expect. Polipo and the burrata crostini not to be missed. Also, waitstaff was lovely. Very happy I live around the corner.

Italian food made with love
I have been to Gusto many times and it is my favorite Italian restaurant in Los Angeles, The menu is small but everything on the menu sounds as great as it tastes. The servers are well trained on the menu and wine list. You cannot visit Gusto without ordering the baby octopus appetizer, bucatini carbonara and coconut gelato pie. I also had the escolar which was excellent...perfectly cooked with a hint of citrus. I will continue to visit Gusto and recommend it to my friends
11/12/2013 4:00:00 PM
Went there to celebrate a friend's birthday with 2 other mutual friends. Our criteria was good food and a noise level that still allowed conversation. We got both. The place is small and intimate and the menu small, but choice. The food was still different enough to intrigue, but still comforting and familiar enough to bring you back in. Small but reasonably priced Italian only wine list. The service was excellent but not hovering. Wait staff great at explaining the dishes when asked. We all enjoyed our food and the portions were enough to allow appetizer, pasta and main course without feeling stuffed. Would highly recommend and will go back.

All great except corkage fees
While the food is excellent and I consider this a "neighborhood" restaurant...I found the corkage fee of $25 very high. 2nd bottle $35.
That is not even the policy at "Culina" in the 4 Seasons Hotel nearby.

Gusto is a Musto
I had walked by this restaurant many times thinking that my husband and I should try it, sometime. When into Open Table and there was a reservation waiting for us to grab. So glad that we did! A true LA neighborhood gem with a modern, European vibe. Small yet elegant, the decor appealed to my linear, OCD taste. Clean and immaculate! The food? Delicious! Yummy mussels. I could live on the kale and brussel sprout salad. Amazing bolognese. Very rich! Sweet, perfectly prepared fresh fish. Didn't have room for dessert after slopping up the mussel broth with the crusty bread. The menu changes and we're looking forward to returning to try it all! Our server was lovely; warm and friendly yet professional.

New favorite restaurant
My husband and I have been to Gusto twice now and it's our new favorite restaurant! Amazing Italian food, cozy dining room and great service. Great for special occasions or a casual meal. Menu changes keep things fresh, exciting and delicious! Be sure to try the coconut gelato pie for dessert. So. Good.
