Consistently high standards
Last Friday was at least our third dinner at The Parish, which is becoming one of our favorite restaurants. From the Oysters Rockefeller to the roasted brussels sprouts, shrimp etouffee and the grand finale, pecan pie, everything was perfectly prepared and the service was first rate.

The Hopping John's entree
The Hopping John's entree was outstanding. It was both flavorful and filling, the perfect dish after a long hard day of working, traveling and stressing. A dish that reminds me of home in the Bayou. It is definitely one of my new comfort foods.

I was in Portland visiting for a few days and had three great meals, and this was one of them!! Also at at Ned...whatevers, and a great BBQ place. I love cajun food--and everything was great!! Oysters, spinach, and the bread pudding!! Yummm! I wish someone would just serve rabbit like they do in France...

We love New Orleans style
We love New Orleans style food and were not disappointed. The fresh and baked oysters were excellent as was the jambalaya and fried chicken. Maybe best of all was the bread pudding which was the best I have ever tasted. Good beer and cocktail selection and great service. We will be back!

Service was attentive. Happy
Service was attentive. Happy hour offers good value on wine and snacks. Mains were a mix. Shrimp etuiffe (sp?) was very tasty.

We actually loved the food.
We actually loved the food. Service could NOT be improved, really outstanding. The music was a little loud for my brother and the party was in his honor. It really wasn't too loud for the rest of us. I guess you can't please everyone. We are from Louisiana so it was very homey to us.
We will be back!

We were supposed to be in New Orleans for my birthday but had to cancel the trip. I still got my birthday Muffaletta!! Thanks to this gem. We will go back. Service was amazing!!

I have been to New Orleans, a couple of times. This place captures that feeling, quite well (without the humidity and cicadas calling, you can't do it perfectly)

After having brunch and then happy hour The Parish has become our favorite Portland restaurant. Innovative and imaginative menu, quality ingredients and great casual atmosphere with a New Orleans vibe. Sit at the bar and have Daniel makes you a sazerac and serve you for a special treat.

We have been there twice and
We have been there twice and would definitely return. The food is good, has a bit of a kick, which we like, and is consistent. The desserts are very good. We wanted decaf with dessert, but they didn't have any already brewed, which we found a bit odd in the evening when a lot of people don't drink caffeine. It is only a block from Portland Center Statege, where we are season subscribers, so that is a big plus. The shrimp etoufee was excellent.

you MUST have the bread pudding!
Dinner for 5. Four had the $29 prix fixe. The duck dish was the favorite - do get the config leg option... I ordered off the menu just so I could get the bread pudding and I made a good choice!

good but not up to prior 2 visits
Food and service were good but not up to the level of prior two visits the same week. It was First Thursday and busier.

Delicious New Orleans cooking
Tried Parish during 'Restaurant Month'...3 courses, $29. They gave us three appetizer choices, three main dish choices and two desert choices. This is more generous than most other restaurants participating who either give you one not so great choice or two not so great choices per course. Anyway, it was difficult to choose from Parish's list because everything they offered seemed pretty good. Their wedge salad was generous and the dressing was just perfect. Not too overwhelming, plus hard boiled egg halves were included which is always a plus. For the main course, I had the duck gumbo with a duck confit leg which was outstanding. You could taste all the flavors. Desert was Red Velvet Cake or Pecan Pie. The Pecan Pie is the way to go.

A bit of NOLA in PDX
Having recently visited New Orleans we wanted to try out The Parish. The food was excellent! Great flavors. Wait staff was very good. They genuinely seemed happy to be working there and happy we were there. The restaurant is very pretty and has a great feel. We will return

Best part was the happy hour
Best part was the happy hour oysters and the great selection of oyster!
6/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
We went to Parish for the first time the other night. We were very excited as we've been to New Orleans several times and love the food there. I ordered the duck gumbo with an additional cost of $5.00 for duck confit to add to it. After sometime passed the waiter came and told me they were out of duck confit. It was 7:10. How could a restaurant be out of an ingredient that was on the menus so early in the evening especially when the restaurant was not crowded? My husband ordered red velvet cake which the menu said it was served with fresh strawberries. No strawberries were served and there was not explanation.

Great Oysters - but LOUD
Never had more of a selection of oysters, and they were well prepared (on the half shell). And quite expensive.
Also had lettuce wedge with egg from appetizer menu. Spicy dressing was very tasty. We will go again, try more of the food menu.

The Parish has the best baked and fried oysters I have ever eaten. The shooters are great too if you like them raw. Delicious jambalaya and po boy sandwiches, bread pudding, and cocktails. The only negative was kind of slow service at lunch time. Otherwise a terrific place!

Outstanding as always
Try the duck gumbo. It's the best gumbo I've had outside of Louisiana

Beautiful place....Great location and friendly welcome.....We had a party of four but service was a little slow. We enjoyed our food and will try The Parish again

Great Cajun food, lousy service.
Great Cajun food, lousy service. Only one server for the entire restaurant.

N'Awlins in Portland
We were there for a late lunch so it wasn't crowded and with only one waiter, we felt we were "treated royally". We ate the oyster po'boy and fried catfish po'boy with a side of fried okra. It was Cajun with a twist for the better! Compliments to the chef who can make fried okra that is seasoned, lightly battered (no heavy breadcrumbs) and perfectly fried! The oysters in my po'boy were still juicy and tender fried with a light breading. Same with the catfish... crisp fried batter-coat featuring a tender, moist, flakey fish. No muddy taste. We plan to return for Happy Hour after seeing their full bar menu and dinner to try the gumbo and jambalaya.

Gormet on the Bayou
Simple, yet excellent menu.
Dessert menu fantastic....best pecan pie outside of the south.

Sunday Brunch + Music!
With the Pete Krebs trio playing, you will certainly lose track of time. We have always enjoyed the food, though the music is a great addition. We had a wedge salad and a dozen oysters to start. Perfect. We also ordered a burger and the debris po boy for the entree and finished with some delicious beignets. You must go anytime and certainly on Sunday afternoons.

for business and pleasure
Met with clients on Sat nite for a little business and some fun. Service was impeccable and support friendly. Beverages arrived quickly add did appetizers and main courses. The restaurant was busy but not crazy loud so we could have a fun conversation. Great music in the background. Our meals were great!

Pleased my New Orleans raised wife
I wanted to take my wife, who was raised in Louisiana, to a classy Cajun restaurant for her 60th birthday. She was very impressed with the food and the service and she very much enjoyed her birthday evening. We'll be back.

Second Sunday #49
We visited Parrish on an early, quiet Sunday evening and sat at the bar although there were plenty of tables. This gave a view of the open kitchen and the oyster prep area. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menue and the oyster specials were fresh and very well priced. An excellent happy hour menu for both food and drinks all served in a timely manner, not too fast or slow. We felt very welcome and not pressed for time. All our selections arrived fresh and proper with a big smiles from the wait staff. We enjoyed the turtle soup, get extra bread. The craw fish ravioli was great, as was all the food. A real, "take your time about it" place to really appreciate New Orleans style cuisine. don't forget the meters up till seven o-clock.

Superb Small Plates
The cocktails are mixed well. The oysters are very fresh and tasty. The french fries are crispy and sliders are inventive. The grilled shrimp are delicious and the soft boiled egg with bacon is superb. We also had the shrimp po' boy, which is outstanding. It's a great place for a quick and delicious meal.

before Center Stage
A good spot before theater, easy and good service. Small plates available.

Creole Stuffed Soul
The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. The waitstaff wore many hats; anywhere from host to bartender. There were 3 in our party and none of us had ever been to this restaurant, but we will return to try the other dishes offered. If you love Cajun/Creole food, you have to check this place out.

Good food with friends.
Must have a hurricane with this experience. Excellent flavor. Bit spendy. Great place if you are with a bunch of friends and have time to kill.

Great Cajun Food
The food was excellent. It was a bit noisy, but not too much to carry on a conversation.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
We have been to The Parish several times and last Saturday had the pleasure of introducing another couple to this restaurant. We had told them how wonderful it was, and The Parish did not disappoint. From appetizers to dessert, the food and service met and exceeded expectations. Another plus was being able to chat in a normal conversational tone, instead of yelling over excessive noise. Altogether a success. We will be back again soon, and I suspect our friends will be, too.

We had a great experience at The Parish. The service was wonderful, and the food was delicious! Overall the atmosphere was great! Really, my only "complaint" was the restaurant was chilly, and I kept my coat draped over my shoulders the whole evening. We have already made recommendations to this restaurant, and will continue to do so.
