Chez Loma is Memorable
One reason we chose to dine at Chez Loma was its proximity to the hotel where we were staying. But we found that we had discovered a French restaurant to rival some of the best in France. From the starters to the desserts, everything was excellent and the service was impeccable. The old house where the restaurant is located has been beautifully restored, providing a serene background for a most enjoyable meal.

Loved all the different rooms which created an atmosphere of privacy as well as coziness. White linen table cloths, with fresh flowers and French music through out the restaurant was lovely. We had the steak tar-tare, and ceviche which was wonderful, and our server was friendly and attentive. The chef came to our table for a brief visit, which we also appreciated.
We are looking forward to a return visit!

Chez Loma is sure to be on the BEST OF list next year! Absolute perfection!
Chef Alex Martinez is the best thing to happen to Chez! The new owners truly understand relaxed and amazing fine dining!

Very much enjoyed our Prix Fixe dinner. The food was very good. We especially liked the atmosphere - quiet, comfortable, and nice background music. Those things are hard to find in one restaurant. The service was excellent. Next time, I will order an appetizer - the main course portion of scallops left me a bit hungry.

My wife and I loved the food and atmosphere. Next time we will dine more than once.

Perfect Pre-Show Dining Spot
We dined at Chez Loma with another couple, prior to the Fiddler on the Roof show at Lamb's in Coronado. Chez Loma did not disappoint! Food was excellent as always. Lovely ambiance -- tastefully decorated, fresh flowers on the tables, white tablecloths. Highly recommended.

One of the charms of Chez Loma is the wonderful staff. Justin is great and Sheryl(?) the bartender...fantastic. The food is wonderful but being a French cuisine I would have expected very fresh quality bread! The French love their bread!
All in all a great dining experience!

I was looking for a place in Coronado to meet some family that I had not seen in several years. I wanted a classy, quiet and quality restaurant that was more local than tourist. Chez Loma was the place. Everyone from the bartender to the waiter were friendly and helpful. You felt at home like this was your neighborhood place. The food was excellent, the service top notch. It is a gem of the emerald isle.

A lovely little gem on Coronado. We went for dinner - split the crab cake, fried in phyllo dough, then had salads, and an amazing gingerbread with orange caramel sauce for dessert. I wanted to eat three more slices of that gingerbread, and then have it again for breakfast in the morning. A romantic little restaurant, and attentive, helpful, friendly servers.

Chez Loma pegged the meter on both. Stan the waiter should be one of Coronado's treasures.youve

Always wanted to go
A great place for a special occasion. The menu is a little limited, but what they served was outstanding.
We were not disappointed.

Very, very pleasant evening!
After a very disappointing evening in San Diego proper the night before, we returned to our "tried-and-true" favorite spot on Coronado Island. Chez Loma was renovated last summer (2012) and this was our first chance to go back. Although we had no complaints about the previous decor, it is now light and airy and a very pleasant place to spend the evening. The service was cheerful and attentive, and the food very, very nice. We liked it before and like it even better now. We will return every time we visit, which is several times a year--particularly when it is 114 degrees in Arizona. So, if you are looking for a smaller, intimate setting, with very good food and service at a reasonable price, this is the place for you.

This place came recommended by a friend. I found Chez Loma to be very charming with wonderful food and great service. The set menu was an added plus. I would definitely recommend the place and I plan to return.

The food was fantastic! Our waitress was great but the kitchen was a bit slow to get the food out, which is why I gave it only 3 stars for service and 4 stars overall, otherwise 5 stars across the board. I think the kitchen was a bit overwhelmed on the 4th of July weekend. The bar food is also wonderful. Overall great food at reasonable prices. We will be back, but will pick a non holiday weekend!

Great food, great service. Great bartender. Don't look any further in this area on Coronado, go here.

Outstanding food and service
We had heard that new owners and chef were off to a good start. We went for a milestone birthday and thought the food was outstanding. Mussels and Caesar salad followed by the steak and frites and boeuf bourgingon. All so good we plan to return during our stay. Highly recommend this restaurant located in a nicely restored historic home.

This was my first visit and I was not disappointed. The entire dinner experience was perfect. I would definitely return. The food was five star. The size of the portions may be on the small side for a male but it was perfect for a woman.

Great food, very good service
We were celebrating a birthday. One guest had the duck, another guest had the boeuf bourguignon and I had pork osso bucco. We shared a crab cake, split one order of caesar salad and I had a second caesar. Everything was delicious and well prepared. It was 1/2 off bottles of wine so we splurged on a bottle we'd never ordinarily order.
There was a bit of a lag between our appetizer and the main course.
7/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went twice while on vacation in the area and enjoyed ourselves both times. Most items were quite good; the duck and sea bass in particular were excellent. Both times there was a bit of disorganization with items missing from the menu, but the server was very cordial and gave good recommendations.

Quant, non-pretentious dining
I chose this restaurant over one of the pricier Hotel Del ones for a special occasion and I'm so glad I did. Intimate, relaxed, and romantic if you need it to be. Service was fantastic from the minute we arrived. Attentive, but not over the top and hovering. Arugula salad was fresh and flavorful. Roasted chicken was melt in the mouth...ended the meal with an amazing crème Brule.
Would highly recommend this to locals and tourists alike...

Good place! Barely anything wrong.
Chez Loma was almost wonderful. Very cute old fashioned house turned restaurant with a delicate white interior and twinkle lights outside. The service was friendly and attentive but at 22, they all seemed my age and younger which didn't fit as I spent $150 for myself and my boyfriend (after tip and tax). The food was good, nice sauces and the presentation seemed very French, but nothing was out of this world. If the prices were about 20% cheeper it would have deserved 5 stars.

Very traditional French menu
Very traditional French menu ~ mussels with frites (cooked in duck fat!) were superb; duck entree perfect; salmon nicely sauteed and not overcooked; classic creme brulee. Very enjoyable. Will return in colder weather to try the boeuf bourguignon!

Great food. Service, not so good...
Every course was excellent, though we did have a problem with the server (Stan). There was a glitch in the kitchen, so the gap between salad and entree was significant. Rather than apologizing, Stan basically disappeared. When we did complain, he literally handed us off to the bus person ( though of course, he was there to give and collect the bill). Would have left 0% if not for the other staff. Still, the food was excellent.

Greta little spot, great service, excellent food! Wednesdays are half-price bottles of wine: good value.

Coronado, old building, great neighborhood corner and the food is fantastic. Took my girlfriend for her birthday and she loved it.

A great evening at Chez Loma
This was our first visit to Chez Loma and it won't be our last.
Quaint bar area up front, they offer a bar menu and a nice wine list. The bartender suggested a champagne cocktail with St. Germaine, fresh berries & mint....Sparkly, celebratory and tasty, perfect for an afternoon cocktail.
We started dinner with L'escargot and Pate plate....both were excellent. We ordered from the prix fixe menu. We all enjoyed the onion soup. The entrees were tasty and perfectly cooked. The steak was tender in a nice wine reduction, the frites were buttery & crispy. The scallops were lovely and the chicken was tender.
Desserts: creme brulee was the big winner, I enjoyed the chocolate pot de creme and surprisingly the ginger cake.
A great evening!

Favorite in Coronado
Dinner was excellent. The crusted crab cakes are quite different and great tasting. The $31 prix fixe dinners (between 5 and 6pm) are a great deal and perfect for dining before attending a Lamb's Players play across the street. Each course was nicely presented. Service was very friendly and timely. Save room for dessert - the Chocolate Pot au Feu and the Pears were worth waiting for.
We loved the music!

Excellent food. Love the old house. Quiet, romantic, great way to celebrate 20-year anniversary.
Just a little warm inside but who expected 80 degrees at 7:00 PM?

Fit for a Frenchy!
My favorite place! My favorite food! Fabulous bartender and server and my French friend said the duck was superb!

A Little Bit of France
Chez Loma is a lovely, peaceful Francophile oasis in Coronado (in fact there were three French-speaking people around us when we had lunch recently). The service had a few glitches, but they were made up for by smiling apologies--the two times we have been there, there were not enough servers. I loved the escargot, sweetbread, asparagus and mushroom dish, although it came without escargot (this was also made right). One friend loved the classic frisee salad, the other loved the beet salad (purple, golden and pink-striped beets) and the croque monsieur, which was huge and came with a huge portion of delicious fries. The chocolate pot au creme with a bit of chantilly cream was fantastic.
We will all definitely return to Chez Loma.

We come from Belgian, a country where excellent food is common. "Chez Loma" proves that also on the west coast of the USA you can enjoy delicious meals in a cozy atmosphere. A subtle mixture of trusted food with original american hints.

Food was outstand and our server Sabrina was the best anyone could ask for. Each dish was perfectly prepared. Do not miss the beet salad it's a once in a lifetime find. Will not miss this place whenever we are in Coronado California! Love this place!

Ate at 5:30 and was delighted with fixed price menu. Well priced for fabulous food.
Noise level acceptable. Great dining experience. Accommodated special request. Thank you.

No weak link
This was just a wonderful meal. Wine list is extensive and some of the better selections are available by the glass. Appetizers include some standbys and unique selections - we had a rustic French pâté and olives with white anchovies - both were exceptional. 3beet salad was unique and delicious, beautifully presented. Duck with cherries and sweet potato purée was divine; beef filet was perfect - encrusted and crisp outside and rare center. Creme brûlée and pot de creme were both top shelf with unique/distinctive elements. Service was polite, attentive and personal.

Nice spot, tucked away a bit
Nice spot, tucked away a bit which make it a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the main drag and a welcome change of pace from the over-hyped and over-rated Hotel Del. Food was very good, decent, reasonably priced wine list, excellent service and a very nice, quiet ambiance. If that's what you're looking for, this is the place. There's nothing particularly spectacular about the spot, t's just a nice, quaint, quiet spot to enjoy an intimate dinner.

The Chez Loma is a staple
The Chez Loma is a staple of Coronado. If you haven't dined there you'll miss a part of the personality of Coronado. We went on a Monday evening and had a lovely time. One in our party had the crab-crusted halibut and raved about it. Truly a pleasant evening with good food and excellent service. I recommend it to visitors and locals alike.

Still great after many years!
It has been many years since I have been here, but this place has always been a gem and still is after many many years.
The tri color beet salad was wonderful and the short ribs just melt in your mouth. My love of the creme brulee is as big as it was years ago. Delicious and creamy! The service staff are delightful and let us chat away for hours with our friends. I also love that
this is just a block or so from the Hotel Del and a block off the beach. Great to take a stroll after dinner.

Loved it all.
We had a fabulous dining experience. The service from our waitress Sabrina was outstanding, the food was prepared beautifully with extra ordinary presentation and the ambience was outstanding.

Great Food and Service in Coronado!
I am glad we found this place. It's difficult to find good french restaurants in the So Bay area, but this place meets the bill.
The restaurant is small and intimate and the service was excellent. Our waitress Sabrina was an excellent host, very knowledgeable about the food and the wine list. I had the onion soup and the roaste duck, both excellent.

Wonderful, as usual, but...
We went to Chez Loma Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary. The food, service, and ambiance were all wonderful, as usual. The only "issue" I/we have (and it's not a real problem) is that the menu hasn't varied. The food is great, but it would be nice to have some new, interesting choices. Ordering the same thing every other time or two - while still delicious - has gotten a little boring... Just a suggestion to the management and chef!

Classic home, classic food
Comfortably compartmentalized within an old home in Coronado is a delightfully relaxing, quirky restaurant populated by servers who are eager to please with their attentive yet unobtrusive service while delivering food selections from an array of appealing choices. Select examples: the crab cake is uniquely presented loosely enveloped by a crisp baked waveform. The onion soup richly conveys the onion flavor, mingling it with the melted cheese while pleasantly limiting saltiness and richness. You may follow the soup with a pepper crusted filet that is extraordinary in its tenderness and taste, an effect achieved without any added grease, resulting in an unusual palatal lightness to the meat that transfers to a subsequent pleasing digestion.

loved this French gem
great little Coronado find. food and ambiance were spectacular. prices were moderate for Coronado.
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
We enjoyed our evening at Chez Loma and would go back, but it wasn't the best we had in Coronado. When we went inside, there was a faint fishy smell, but it seemed to dissipate once we were seated. We shared a salad. I was annoyed that they didn't split it in the kitchen, but rather brought us an extra plate to do it ourselves. Nevertheless, it was a great salad (the frisee salad), very fresh with a lovely citrus vinaigrette dressing. My husband had the crab crusted halibut, which he enjoyed. I tasted it and thought the crust was a bit fishy but he loved it. I had the beef bourguignon, which was good but a little too salty. We finished the meal with crème brulee, which was just average. The service, however, was outstanding.

Chez Loma is very special. The historic house has been remodeled to perfection. The original hardwood floors, lovely tables with nice white linens, are just a few factors that lend to the wonderful ambience. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Brought two friends from Illinois to Chez Loma this week and it did not disappoint!! Sabrina was terrific. Food was top notch, as always. We enjoyed three courses of perfection, along w/ a great wine. Superb!

The Perfect Anniversary
Went to Chez Loma for our 40th anniversary. Wanted something special. Chez Loma exceeded all expectations. The ambiance was perfect. The food (especially the duck) was outstanding; our server Sabrina was great. Was surprised with a complimentary dessert (creme brulee-- delicious) for our anniversary. And the price was very reasonable considering all that we ate.
Wish I lived in the San Diego area so that I could go to Chez Loma more often.

This was one of the best dinning evenings I have had in years. Excellent food, friendly staff and comfortable to be treated. My favorite place in Coronado and likely all of San Diego.
Thank you for a special evening.

Lovely spot, delicious food
We were a party of four, having dinner on the Friday night after Thanksgiving. This is a charming restaurant in a neighborhood right off the main street in Coronado. We were cheerfully greeted when we arrived. Our table was not quite ready so we waited in the small bar. Food was delicious, the menu was heavy on seafood. I had the filet mignon with a really good brandy peppercorn sauce that I would order again in a heartbeat. Others had the beef bourgignon (spelling), seabass, seafood stew, crabcakes. All nicely presented. Service was cheerful, efficient, and unobtrusive. The only thing I would change for next time, is I would ask to be in the main dining room (about 6 tables) versus the small alcove where we were seated (2 tables)
