Excellent food, a Regent Park pick
Paint box is an example of the transformation occurring in Regent park. It is 'fine dining' with a social conscience. Building on the lead of the like of Jamie Oliver in the UK, Paint box provides an opportunity for residents of Regent Park to learn and pursue a career in the restaurant industry.
We choose to have dinner at Paint Box because it is right next door to the new Spectrum Theater. Overall our experience at Paint box was very good. The decor is simple, modern and refreshing. The food was excellent and certainly worth the visit. There was a good selection on the menu. The wine list was limited and too heavy on Ontario wine. The staff was friendly but slow and are lacking quality mentoring on what good service really is.

Great dinner and wonderful
Great dinner and wonderful jazz on April 27 with friends. Enjoyed creative beet salad, excellent hanger steak and potato salad and veg, plus banana treat for dessert, followed by jazz with Joe Sealy, Paul Novotny and Daniel Barnes. Great venue!

What a Gem!
I returned to Toronto for the first time in three years. A coworker in Calgary recommended the Paint Box and told me the background. He explained how the organization was helping to empower Regent Park, while building a successful enterprise in the process.
After an evening at the restaurant, I say without hesitation: the only thing better than the feeling Paint Box's mission gives you, is the food. During this business trip to Toronto, we ate at several of TO's best know establishments. My group and I all agree that the Paint Box had the best food.
I had the best plate of duck I have ever enjoyed (and duck is one of my favorites). My dinner companions raved about their steaks and seared tuna was outstanding.
You must go!

Cute little spot in a developing area. With all the new condos going up, this place will surely become the new IT spot. Its bright and warm with a large patio. The room is divided into two and apparently they have live music on certain nights. Service was friendly and they aim to please! Food was tasty and the portions were generous. The buttermilk mash with the hanger steak....I'm still thinking about it :)

Was pleasantly surprised at the superb quality of the food at Paintbox Bistro, comparable with the best restaurants in the city! Small menu, but great attention to detail and high quality of food and presentation.
The Sat evening jazz performance was an added bonus!
Really, really enjoyable experience!

Glad we found it
Hi. We came Friday evening. Could not stay too late but loved the whole works, good food, nice people, great service. My beet salad was awesome!
It is rather far for us as we drove from Mississauga, so unfortunately we can't make it a regular spot but hope to go again. So clean too!

The Paint Box Restaurant
We enjoyed the meal, the wait staff was very helpful and the food was delicious. I also like the fact that The Paintbox Restaurant helps others in their community by allowing community use of their kitchens. When we attended the opening of the Regent Park Farmers' Market, there were stall holders at the market who had made use of those kitchens providing us with delectable samosas

Small menu but unbelievably good
The dinner menu is very small which makes it simple to choose from but the food is so fantastic you'll order every item.

Boffo Botos, Great Food
The Robi Botos show at the Paintbox was one of the best I have seen in my lifetime. In playing off each other like cats and catnip, Botos, Paul Novotny and Archie Alleyne, played to the max and challenged the audience to keep up. It was fantastic. The Paintbox is a focal point in a reconceptualized Regent Park, a development of which all Torontonians should be proud. If you don't come out and support this effort, you are nuts. What's more, the food and service were excellent.

I have eaten here twice now.
I have eaten here twice now. I like the bright art & paintbox theme. I don't particularly like the "clattery" atmosphere, but for years now restaurants have been getting noisier and noisier and we seem to be stuck with that style. (Fortunately for me, but not the restaurant, there was a very light lunch crowd that Thursday). The food is presented in a way pleasing to the eye and it is delicious. On my recent visit I had a memorable fish & chips lunch with the fish pieces just nicely seared and tasty potato wedges in just the right, modest quantity, served with complimentary, not overwhelming, sauce and a little watercress. They do not serve masses of frites that you couldn't possibly eat. The service was attentive, not intrusive.

Really lovely dinner last
Really lovely dinner last Thurs. Great food: innovative , delicious and well executed. All three courses were good and each had innovative touches (eg lemon curd with a tiny dollop of dulce di leche and raspberries) that really made food special. Salad and dressing light and fresh and their spin on fish and chips (tuna with light breading on outside and 3xbaked potatoes) was delicious. Friendly, attentive staff. Def. will be back

Good time had by all!
Attended the Paintbox for a CD launch by the great jazz singer, Allyson Morris! A set price menu ($30)was prepared for the evening, with a choice of carrot soup or salad, beef brisket pie, trout or pasta, and berry crumble with ice cream for dessert. There were 8 of us at the table, and all the meals were highly rated. Service was a bit spotty, but reasonable considering the crowd! The wine list was reasonably prices. Would definitely go there again, on a quieter evening!
