We thought the food was delicious
We thought the food was delicious and beautifully presented, but the portions of the main course and one salad were extremely small. The portion size of the appetizer we ordered was normal. That being said, this is a restaurant we can be proud to have in Portland. It could easily hold its own in NYC for quality, imagination, style, etc. Just a few more gnocchi for the money would have been very nice.

What a surprise!!
We really enjoyed the varied menu options. Can't wait to go back. The favors and menu choices quickly catapult this restaurant to the status of "new, favorite northwest find". Definitely will take my out of town guests!

Everyting I hoped for and more!
I had my hopes set high for this one. My husband and I planned a fun weekend in Portland and this restaurant was what I was looking forward to most of all. It was so perfect, I couldn't believe it. I made my husband order his own appetizer and dessert because I knew I wanted to taste more than one and not have to share too much! Soooo glad that I did! His eyes bugged out of his head with each course. Mine too! For me, the best part was the beef tongue. For him, it was MY entree, the rissotto. I can't wait to go back to Portland and eat there again. Our goal is to make it to Happy Hour so we can order off that menu too!!

Great food and service
Went for the Portland Monthly special. Food and service were very good. Not much protein in the Portland Monthly special
but was delicious. The dessert was out standing...bread pudding but not like any other that we had eaten before.
Beautiful night, garage doors were opened and it has a very contemporary, urban feel..

The half chicken was mouthwatering
The half chicken was mouthwatering as always and the primary reason we keep coming back. The spring risotto was light and refreshing and well prepared. The New York steak with bleu cheese butter was very disappointing. It appeared more like a chunk of sirloin with a lot of fat (not marbleing) and gristle. This is a poor replacement for the fabulous hanger steak that used to be on the menu.

The closeness and incredibly
The closeness and incredibly noisy space detracted from the excellence of the cuisine. It is NOT a romantic spot. It was very difficult to have a conversation with my dinner partner. I mostly heard the loud and annoying giggles-and more-from the 3 women next to us.
6/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Every bite was delicious!
Some of the servings were on the small side, but every bite was delicious. This is the way good food tastes.

Terrific experience at Lincoln
From the food to the service to the ambiance, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect dining experience. Lincoln is a "must-visit!"

A fabulous dining experience!
A fabulous dining experience, one more time. Chef Jenn Louise always creates very unique dishes with the best local ingredients. The service is superb, always providing a first class dining experience. Still one of my most favorite places to dine!

This was the first time eating at Lincoln and it was fantastic! I will definitely be returning! Our server had a table in our section that grew unexpectedly from 6 to 12, and we never once felt like we were neglected, or that she was stressed about it. She was friendly and professional, and was eager to answer all of our "newbie" questions about the menu and drink recommendations.

A real find
What a delightful place, most deserving of the considerable buzz. Food was just great, service very friendly (how delightful to be asked "have you finished eating?" instead of that annoying "still working on that?") Can't wait to go back.

Went for the June dinning month and ended up having the marrow bone appetizer and the rabbit ragout pasta instead. Fabulous!! My friend had the June special and loved it! Only mistake I made was ordering the onion rings with cornmeal. The cornmeal was too gritty and got stuck in my teeth like sand. Mistook the fennel rings I saw in the bar for the onion rings, will try them next time. Our wait person was Jill and she was one of the best I have ever experienced. Very personable and professional. Would ask for her again! Will defiantly bring friends and family here! Noise level of was a bit high I felt due to the acoustics of the building.
6/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
The decor is what you expect to find in the area, hip and trendy but in a natural not trying way. Our server was great and very helpful with questions. The meal was delivered with expert timing. The cocktails they made were creative and enjoyable. Overall the entire evening was delightful and I will go back again.

So Glad I Found Lincoln
Every dish was well put together and artfully presented. The craftsmanship and competency in the kitchen was evident. The flavors in each dish were well chosen. I chose this restaurant because I needed a gluten free, dairy free meal and their menu is extensive enough to make that possible. In the end the waiter and the kitchen did a great job of removing gluten and dairy from each of our dishes, with the exception of a small amount of butter, and the results were still outstanding.

We Love Lincoln!
Five of us went to dinner here to celebrate a friend's birthday. The food was exceptional, we ordered the roasted chicken or the trout. Both were truly magnificent. It is hard to make roasted chicken memorable but it is a favorite meal. The trout too was really incredibly delicate and flavorful. Stacey, our server was charming, funny, and utterly likable. Her recommendations were impeccable. The strawberry rhubarb Proseccos were a hit, a refreshing summer cocktail that made our experience pink, effervescent, and bubbly. Jen, the owner even came out to wish Ron a happy birthday, we all found that endearing. She also made sure we liked our desserts. Order the panna cotta - magical, carmel corn in a ramekin.

Outstanding meal, fantastic service
We had a great meal. The food was amazing, the service was among the best you'll find. Only issue was that the part of the restaurant where we sat was a little warm as it was nearly 100 degrees out that night. Recommend highly!

Great Place at 10pm :)
For dropping in at 10pm to have dinner, it was great. The chefs still were putting out good food, and the staff were amazingly nice. I wasn't sure how good it might have been seeing as they were ready to close, but it was a wonderful experience.

Great evening at Lincoln!
From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome and taken care of at Lincoln. Our server was also the bartender and gave us great recommendations on the drinks, wine and food. Totally charming and attentive without going overboard. The food was wonderful and considerate of our special needs or requests. Octopus appetizer; dandelion salad w/anchovies; salad with crispy pig ears and bacon; halibut; chicken - all divine! Save room for the panna cotta. The chef came by and was friendly and interested that her guests were happy. What more could you want? Can't wait to come back on our next visit to Portland.

Wednesday Night in July at Lincoln
The halibut over fava beans was beautifully prepared, so it was moist and flaky. The zucchini were also carefully cooked in garlic and olive oil with a slightly spicy kick. The dandelion greens were refreshing and an interesting change from lettuce salads. The service was very attentive and the restaurant was lively, with the north side open to the street.
7/16/2013 5:00:00 PM
Very well prepared food served by a friendly staff. The ambiance with the garage doors open cannot be beat on a warm Portland evening.
7/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Only complaint dinner reservation made through Open Table, - were seated in the bar area, in the very last table against the window. I would have rather have been in the much prettier and more lively restaurant part. To have dinner in what feels like the bar feels less fun to me. We asked to be moved, but it was a busy time and it couldn't be done.

Fabulous, breezy dinner at Lincoln
With all the "garage" doors thrown open, Lincoln had a wonderful summer ambience. The food was terrific, especially the octopus appetizer which tasted like octopus we had eaten in Spain and was done to perfection. Main courses were all wonderful as well. Normally I wouldn't bother with a quail (too much work), but it was worth every maneuver to get the meat off those tiny bones. One of our out of town guests has more food allergies than I can count and she too was able to enjoy a lovely meal with only one slight modification which the kitchen very nicely accommodated.

Good location and neighborhood
Good location and neighborhood location and solid experience for the price!
8/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was absolutely amazing and our server Jen couldn't have walked us through the menu or meal more perfectly.
Exactly the kind of food experience I was hoping for with thoughtful dishes, flavors, and tastes. We ordered several things and shared and the portions were brilliant and allowed us to try several different things. We will be back!
8/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
food is good not great
The service was fantastic, but the food wasn't that great. The food was too expensive especially for the quality.

A dinner to remember
Service was outstanding; we were treated to champagne for our 10th anniversary dinner and everyone took very good care of us. Food at its usual amazing level of creativity and deliciousness.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Staff is very friendly and helpful without hovering too much. Waitress able to answer any questions about the interesting but unique menu that changes daily.
We had a very interesting beet salad that was very good and my blue cheese rib eye was absolutely delicious. My dining partner had a pork cutlet which was good but not great.
The salted caramel popcorn pana cotta is one of the most interesting desserts around.

We love Lincoln
We have always had fantastic, creative food and wonderful service. Last year we celebrated our 20th anniversary with dinner at Lincoln. They made it an exceptional dinning experience even though the had no idea it was a special occasion. Of course we returned for our anniversary this year and was not disappointed!
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lincoln is simply the best!
Not only is the menu always changing with the latest and freshest local ingredients but the service and staff is second to none! I've never had a meal that wasn't awesome! The staff makes you feel like family and they go out of their way to remember their customers whether it's the Chef, the matre de or our server (Ryan is awesome!). Looking forward to our next meal at Lincoln. Thank you!!!
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Delish but I'm still hungry!
I feel the food was excellent, unusual and moderately priced. But in reality Moderate is not the correct rating. You have to order so many separate dishes to get a meal. And when the bill came it was way more than we expected. We chose it for the quality as well as the cost as we were eating with a large group on a diverse income. We left hungry.

Fabulous Dinner w/ Friends
My friends checked out the menu and laughed at me for picking a place that has what we like to call "gamey and odd" meat such as elk tongue and rabbit liver mousse. But we had a delightful time and the service was terrific - not pushy or pretentious. The salmon, steak and chicken were all amazing - what I appreciated the most was the delicate seasoning. Nothing was overpowered with sauce or spices but you could taste the quality of the food. And the rabbit liver mousse was outstanding!

My wife and I came here for our three year anniversary on a suggestion from a friend. Usually never leave reviews, but our experience merited a quick blurb. I'm not much of a foodie, but the food was great, very tasty. My wife is a foodie, and a pretty good little cook, she loved the food. We had two different entries, a starter and a couple different veggie options. The atmosphere (on a Tuesday evening) was very quiet and romantic. Server was knowledgeable friendly and funny. The head chef came out and introduced herself to us, and thanked us for spending our anniversary there and then gave us a free desert. The rest of the staff also wished us a happy anniversary and thanked us for coming in. It was very pleasant and laid back.

Special treat for a special gal
Came here to celebrate my girlfriend's new job, and the end of her commute to Salem!
In true farm to table style, the menu is reprinted daily and the one on the website may not be exactly what is offered in the restaurant. Though the majority of the items were the same (let's face it, no restaurant can survive if the entire menu changes every day), there were a few notable changes. The charcuterie board was a great surprise! Foie gras torchon with peanut butter powder, candied hazelnuts and pickled blueberries, (the best PB&J ever!) rabbit liver mousse, country style pork terrine, and duck prosciutto.

The food was fine. There was
The food was fine. There was a 45 minute delay between courses so a simple meal became a 2 plus hour ordeal. The waiter did his best to explain the issues in the kitchen and provided free wine and a free dessert but this was poor service in back of house and did not leave a good impression on our first and likely only visit.

Lincoln: a fave
We had a very nice dinner at Lincoln last Thursday. Two starters... a short-rib beef tartare with eggs yolks and sea urchin and chunks of nicely grilled bread, and grilled octopus with pimenton... were a delicious beginning. My wife and I shared a small nasturtium-leaf salad- excellent- , and then we had our mains: Sturgeon for her and braised lamb-neck on a base of nicely al dente red rice. Both delicious, we were unable to choose favorites. Lastly a cheese plate with a glass each prosecco. Very satisfying. Our server, Anthony, was attentive and friendly. Every time we go to Lincoln it is better.

...it keeps ticking...
Lincoln is our go to place for out of town guests. The food never misses, and the service is always consistent.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Another wonderful meal at Lincoln
My wife hates going to "fancy" restaurants, finds them pretentious and overpriced. But she really enjoyed Lincoln. We had a really great beef tartare with a smoked hens egg. My elk ossa busso was outstanding. Dessert, a chocolate cake was superb. Can't beat the Ristretto coffee or the cocktails, either. Yumm.

No Longer An "In The Know Spot!"
Quietly...sort of..during the past 5 years Lincoln has gained a following through word of mouth regarding food, service and local charm. But..the word is out.."get out of the Pearl" and cross the river and wait til you taste the food at Lincoln! This marvelous chef and her staff will entertain your palate with fresh local ingredients with imagination and style without you feeling like you're a "guinea pig for trendy new wackiness. Love it everytime~

Good evening at Lincoln
The cornmeal onion rings are the greatest. We took friends who have not been very adventurous about food, but they loved it.
10/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
I took The Love of My Life to Lincoln to celebrate her birthday, I had no idea what an amazing present it would become. We were greeted and seated by Jenn Louis herself and treated to an amazing meal, highlighted by these specials, a pigskin "pasta" and a lumache with rabbit ragu. The food was outstanding and the service, absolutely charming. (Thank you, Jill.) Even though we are from way, way out of town, we will return often to this unpretentious yet superior restaurant.
11/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
After having several people recommended we go here for the fabulous food I was disappointed. The ambience was fabulous, the service attentive, but the food was luckluster. I ate scallops which were well cooked but seriously bland. My husband ate the chicken. He said it was tasty, but the salad was blah. Also, $130 per couple with only corkage fee for what we ate was STEEP! Happy to pay for good food, but this did not meet expectations :-( Perhaps it was just an off night...
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Delicious and innovative
The menu is fun, innovative, and fresh with something for all. I had the Blue fish, others had the hanger steak and several appetizers. Our waiter was the best and they treated us to some extras! And the desserts were OMG fabulous! It was humming, but not so loud we couldn't enjoy catching up with friends. It was an outstanding evening.

As always, excellent mean. Jen serves creative, interesting, and solid dishes. Good wine selection, friendly wait-staff, fun atmosphere.

The service was the best I've experienced in a long time... Attentive without being intrusive. On-time but with proper pacing that allows for leisurely enjoying dinner.
12/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
My wife and I went there for dinner on our wedding day. It was a great place to have a moment alone in the craziness of the weekend. We arrived in our wedding attire and they were so wonderful to us! They brought us a glass of champagne and wished us congratulations. Was a very special memory to us! The food was great but small. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in a nice environment with excellent service.

Great food in Portland
My husband and I had an outstanding dinner at Lincoln! The service was excellent and we loved the wonderful creative dinner options. We tried the special which was braised pig skin and loved it. Can't wait to go back and sample other dishes!

I'd take anyone here
Lincoln is easily the friendlest fine dining in Portland. I've brought many friends and family here over the years and always had an enjoyable evening. We typically begin with several knockout starters: charcuterie, baked eggs, cornmeal onion rings, and their superbly grilled squid. The entrees change with the seasons, but there's enough options to cover a variety of tastes. Parking can be scarce, so indulge in a taxi and have some wine with dinner instead.
