We came into Local's Corner
We came into Local's Corner for a birthday meal. The food is small plates so you definitely want at least two plates per person and one or two more if you're hungry. The food was excellent. The only dish I felt was prepared too salty was the sturgeon. The lamb also had a little bit too much grizzle but it was cooked perfectly and the flavor was outstanding. A terrific restaurant.

We really enjoyed that the menu was so specialized. There is nothing quite like it in San Francisco. Each of our plates were well balanced and portions were small and sharable.

Had a great dinner with friends
Had a great dinner with friends at Local's Corner. Beautifully presented, creative, and impeccably fresh fish preparations. The waitress recommended six dishes for the four of us, which was perfect, and left us just enough room to enjoy a cheese plate for dessert.

Seafood's the star at this gem
Baked salmon collar and avante garde treatment of spring vegetables are the two things I remember from my Local's Corner visit. If you're looking for "think outside of the box" flavors, this little Mission spot could be right up your alley. Come with an open mind and focus on seasonal dishes and/or seafood ones, and don't forget their delicious rustic toast with salted butter!

The service was exemplary!
The service was exemplary! Most importantly, if the staff have 0 attitude, are kind (but not overly kind) and, are even keeled, then the experience is awesome. I also appreciate it when chefs come out of the kitchen to offer one of their plates to customers--personal touches combined with the right amount of attention and care makes up for almost anything.
The food was really fresh but the portions too small and too pricey. Otherwise, make sure a group gets more than one entree per person. Also, the chefs procure protein from purveyors that are local. For example, there wasn't a big red meat offering the evening we went--or poultry. However they presented seafood + vegs as elevated and best as they could. So, never expect the same thing!

Delicious but needs dessert
The only thing available was a cheese plate. Needed something sweet after a very good, light and fresh dinner. Also need to love seafood. There was a beef tartare dish but was my least favorite.

two tops are too close together.
two tops are too close together. Parking was difficult. Food was outstanding, as was the service. We will be back. Make sure you try the cured halibut, and the warm spinach salad.

Superb execution of all the dishes that we ordered. Small plates. We tried seafood dishes, oysters, produce, and bread. All prepared with a deft hand. The small kitchen puts outstanding food on the table. Bravo! We'll be back.

small, charming, special choices
great place for 2-4 people, all pretty small plates, each unique and superb. Emphasis on seafood but steak tartar was delicious. Do order their bread, homemade. Mostly plates to share. Corner, Victorian bistro atmosphere, beautiful sunlight at dusk, easy to hold conversation. Oddly, no desserts, but then Humprey Slocum's is just around the corner.

Very small, sweet intimate spot. Food was interesting and tasty. Cured halibut with grapefruit and King Salmon stood out. Lavender oiled almonds were an interesting twist and the wine selection by the glass different. The service left a little to be desired. The server seemed to go for long periods without checking in and then would take things (particularly my wine glass twice) before I was finished. Also there is no dessert option and dinner just doesn't really feel complete without it. Leaves you wanting, which is not the way you want to leave a restaurant but on the whole very good.

We were a party of four and at first were taken aback at the size and look of the restaurant but quickly decided it was fine. The menu is a bit limited but we knew that. It was suggested that we order items for sharing which we did and found that the preparation and flavors were first rate. It is amazing what this restaurant can turn out with its limited kitchen facilities. Don't go here if you're a red meat eater, which we aren't. We think that the food is excellent, the service was friendly and prompt with prices that aren't stratospheric. The wine list is California and different from what you might find in other restaurants. The prices were reasonable; especially in light of some of the extremely overpriced wine lists around.

Surprising Lical Gem
Charming restaurant atmosphere. It is like you stepped onto a movie set. The Wild West has come to town. Very compact place and menu. Fresh local ingredients. The fish dishes were very well prepared. They don't offer dessert, but I hope that changes.

Oysters, Champagne and even better
Oysters and Champagne are always a good start to a summer evening, but the light unusual dishes such as the crab artichoke soufflé were even better. They charge $3 for toasted homemade bread which is terrific and worth every cent.

Fresh, inventive, friendly, healthy and fun emanates from this kitchen with heart and a very, very sophisticated palate. Love - Love - Love the restaurant,

Great food, service, not so much...
Wonderful little storefront place, limited but creative menu, service need work: We're told the dishes are to share, so we ordered 4 items, and three of them came within 10 minutes of each other. We had to ask for several items ordered long before two and three times. That said, everybody was nice about it, so we'll be back, but I hope this gets straightened out

Why are you waiting?
Get to Local's Corner! Inventive and very tasty food in relaxed setting. Top notch meal is complimented by unusual, affordable and special selection of California wines. Nice focus on sharing plates which you will want to do anyway given how good everything tastes. Team is friendly and on the less intrusive side of standard service in SF so feel free to draw them out if you want help - they have good ideas.

Our first dinner here ~ lunch
Our first dinner here ~ lunch is superb. They could serve a dessert ( just one) to complete the meal.
Wait person could have used just a little more training to make the evening special.

Let the ingredients shine through
Wonderful balance of flavors. All the dishes really let the flavor of the ingredients shine through. Sauces were delicate and complimented the components of the dish perfectly, but were more there in a support role. Several Tapas style plates let us all sample a bunch of different things. The dishes are very natural and not at all heavy or rich, and leave you very contented and satisfied. We started with a few oysters and the cheese plate finished the meal off perfectly. Fish was super fresh and cooked to perfection. Service was very friendly, helpful and attentive. Nice neighborhood feel in Victorian corner store front.

a neighbourhood gem
This was an unexpected delight. We had read the reviews but you don't know until you have been yourself!! The food is fresh, seafood focussed- innovative, light and tasty. Service is attentive, knowledgable. A lovely space, airy and light , great to have so many windows. Well worth a re visit.

Delicious, favorable food. Terrific, warm service from the moment we stepped into the restaurant. Bread is wonderful, as was the peach and basil jam. salmon was great, as was the roast beef sandwich. A lovely experience.

LC is on a charming little corner that is actually "local". Atmosphere is very relaxed, the staff knows the menu and how to stage dishes so that progression is logical and lovely on the palate. Food really is five star, menu and wine list just enough to give variety but not lead to confusion. We had just landed from East Coast four hours earlier and this was the perfect place to start our weekend. Glad I booked a week ago because even for a Thursday they had to turn away many walk ins.

The setting is movie set material, the staff super nice and efficient, and the food ... prepared with precision and wonderfully delicious! A neighborhood GEM for sure.

Cozy, the real "local's corner"
I wish I could have a "Local's Corner" in my neighborhood. It would be great if they have more intriguing appetizers for lunch.
