A great neighborhood addition
These guys really do a nice job. We went for brunch, and had a lovely meal. Service is great, food is very good, and prices are fairly reasonable.
We sat outside on a beautiful day.
We'll definitely be back.

Amazing Food, Great Atmosphere
We went out of our way to come back here, absolutely amazing food, great staff and excellent atmosphere!

I'm definitely going back!
We really enjoyed the sleek, casual feel of this place. I would sit on the patio next time, it's on the side of the building and not right on a busy street as so many are. We started with the chef's choice charcuterie, it had 6 selections of meat and cheese. It was fantastic, great flavors and quality. It was too much for 2 of us, would do a selection of 3 as an app for 2 ppl. Loved the pate'! We actually went for the burger as we are eating our way through the Chicago burger scene. It was pretty good.. cooked perfectly juicy and dripping (ordered it medium) but hot all the way through. I personally like bacon more than chorizo. Fries were awesome! Service was great... friendly and never rushed. Will be going back

Finally tried this neighborhood place and we were not disappointed. We stopped in for my partner's birthday. We were met by the bartender/manager. He took great care of us as we had our pre-dinner drink at the bar. I tried a new vodka from Detroit area. He was able to make one of their specialty gin drinks for my partner. Both were refreshing. The dinner was a delicious and an enjoyable experience. Wait staff was perfect. Well versed in the foods and such. The appetizer was the cheese and ham plate. Very unique in its presentation and flavor. Our dinner were just as good. Local trout and the steak dinner. We were able to go out side for our desserts. The salted carmel popcorn panna cotta is the best. Reasonable prices too!

Such a gem in the neighborhood
I love Bread& Wine, and have always gone for dinner. This time I tried brunch and fell in love in even more! They do a really good job at having "oldies but goodies" with a twist as well as completely new items to appeal to the palette.
7/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
The outdoor dining was perfect. We enjoyed an easy pace where we could visit and delight in the food.
7/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Had a great time at Bread & Wine. Really didn't expect to find such a great and interesting restaurant in my new neighborhood when I moved west from Lincoln Square. Lincoln Square's thriving restaurant scene would be proud to claim a place like this. What a pleasant surprise. Can't wait to go back.
7/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
We have been to Bread & Wine before and it never disappoints. They updated their menu and the cocktails were amazing!
Hope to get back soon!

Outstanding Food and Service
Sitting at the Chef's bar is a blast. I get to watch and learn how it's done and it's awesome to ask questions of the Chef while he's practicing the art.
7/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was our 2nd time visiting the restaurant. It was just as delightful as the first time....from the owners, to the server, cocktails and, of course, the food including the gnoccis, light homemade pasta, chicken, panna cotta dessert, strawberry pie. All was OMG!!
7/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
We went for their tasting menu on Tuesday. Everything was well prepared and beautifully presented (chicken confit salad, salmon with spatzle, brownie) . I always love their interesting wine list and even better now that I know you can do a tasting of any of the wines by the glass, a really great value! Our waiter was very helpful and attentive. We look forward to returning again soon.

A little gem on Irving Park Rd.
This restaurant needs to have a sign out in front so that you don't miss it because the food, the service, and the ambiance are phenomenal. We started off with a beautiful cheese appetizer with some incredibly delicious smoked blue cheese. For the entree I had the sock-eye salmon and it was grilled to perfection. My friend had the beef and chorizo hamburger and said the combination was spoiling her and that she can't see herself eating a regular anymore. We both had local beers but they've got a very extensive wine menu. You've got to try this restaurant!
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
It just gets better every time
A true find in the dark days of chain restaurant dinning, fresh seasonal ingredients used with a unique and refreshing twist. This place is not to be missed.... And the parking lot is FREE!
7/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our first brunch experience and loved it. Cheddar grits with melt in your mouth pork belly and perfectly poached egg-yum! Table had three different dishes and loved them all. Delicious cocktails as well.

Liked the fact that there
Liked the fact that there were plenty of veetarian friendly and fish friendly dishes.

Great food. Small portions
We had a great meal on the outside patio. Only small complaint was that my portion was very small.
8/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
The wine list is exceptional. Had the pappardelle, which was extremely good. Could of eaten a bit more. Portions are a bit small, like many restaurants of today. With a friend, but know husband would complain about the size of portions. Really need to order an appetizer, salad and dessert. Even bread would help compensate for the size of portions. So many restaurants are no longer serving bread which is a good filler.

Very satisfying meal
We had a lovely meal -- the heirloom tomato, spicy watermelon, arugula ,basil, and feta salad was amazing! I had never had watermelon with pepper and it was delicious.
I had chicken breast. The presentation was lovely. I asked for the accompanying tazo ham bits on the side (I don't eat pork) to share with my table mates. That request was overlooked in the kitchen so I had to pick them off my dish (a slight annoyance). The chicken was moist, flavorful and quite satisfying. It came with fava beans & fingerling potato in tasty parmesan broth
Two of my companions enjoyed the bay scallops special and the fourth had trout with oyster mushrooms & couscous. Everyone was very happy with their choices. We did not have room for dessert, sadly!
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nice little find
My friend and I started with 3 shared appetizers, all of which were delicious and well presented. The chicken liver pate, goat cheese wedges and tasso ham were followed up with , for my friend, the semolina gnocchi and poached egg on toast with mushrooms and for me, the chicken in a light broth with fingerling potatoes and fresh veggies. We followed up with dessert, each indulging too much in our own to offer to share a taste.
What is nice is that although I biked the 6 miles there, for those less adventurous, there is a small parking lot in front and street parking as well. We will return to try more options.

Bread and Wine
Good food, cute place reasonable prices. Very nice staff!

This place is a total gem.
This place is a total gem. The quality of the ingredients and the skill in the kitchen shines through in every dish, including the new house-cured pickles and olives. We ate inside, but the outdoor patio looked gorgeous - we will have to eat there next time. We fully intend that there will be lots of next times.

Just Moved to Irving Park
Found this gem in Irving Park while walking my dog one morning. Was interested in it so I bing-ed the name of the restaurant and soon I got to read the yelp reviews and the town seemed to love it. Boom! I went for Brunch, my fave meal of the week, with my good work buddies and delish. I enjoyed the service, the food was spot on, and the joint has a look ahead of Irving Park's time. Its a great location! I met one of the owners, Lisa. She was gracious enough to come say hello to our table and listen to me gush over my experience. Told everyone I bumped into that day about my fantastic time and I will definitely return. Yummmm.

Lovely Outdoor Dining
We came into the city to try out this restaurant and we were not disappointed. It is so close to the Irving Park exit that it was a breeze to get to. A parking lot on premises made it even easier. We dined outside starting with a meat/cheese plate to share along with a nice bottle of wine. Everything was great. Instead of small plates, we opted one large plate each to share. We had the chicken dish and pasta with vegetables. Food was excellently prepared and just the right portion size with no left overs. There is a nice size wine list and you can get a good bottle for under $40. There is a small outdoor eating area (5-6 tables) on the side of the restaurant. It was romantic with the lights and we were not disturbed with noise.
8/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
The brunch menu is very inventive, fresh and apparently changes often. Most items are made in house, like the chicken sausage that was on my biscuits and gravy. My dish was incredible. Everyone at my table was happy with their meals, and the house bloody mary was also quite good. We did not sit outside but they have a lovely outside dining area. Also the kids menu helped make things easy for us. Very good experience and we will be going back.
9/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
We went in late on a Tuesday night. Service was winding down but staff was very cool and welcomed us to have a seat. The food and wine were awesome and staff was great. I will definitely go back.

Brunch in Sunday was amazing! Perfect spot ah-Maaazing food and service. Beware the mild blood Mary is HOT! Can't wait to go back for dinner!

Excellent In All Respects.
A bit hard to hear, but everything else makes up for it.
Bread and Wine is a Home Run!

What a great find! And a 1000 pointer, to boot.
Service felt hip-upscale and very attentive. Menu for brunch was imaginative and attractively presented. I ordered an omelet with oyster mushrooms and bleu cheese. Delicious. Their cheese selections wonderful as was the wine list. Can't miss as far as I'm concerned.

Nice Neighborhood Place
What a nice surprise! This neighborhood gem WITH a parking lot made for an easy decision when meeting a friend on the north side. Although we had a great as sampling of cheeses and charcuterie, we also tried the beet salad, the special pork tenderloin and a very well prepared sea bass. All the dishes were simple, fresh, light and with great flavors. Men will like this place too but I thought it was a great place to meet your gal pals.

Bread and Wine = Great Find!
I recently moved to the Independence Park neighborhood and was curious about Bread and Wine. It had gotten good reviews and one of my friends had posted what looked like a delicious plate of food on Facebook. So when it was my turn to choose a spot for my dinner club's next meal, we headed to Bread and Wine. What a find! Converted from a on old laundromat, the interior is transformed into a unique space with an open kitchen, bar and tables. And so was the food! Our server was warm and knowledgeable and led us through the menu with ease. We sampled the charcuterie (the pate is to die for), and sm plates (loved the crispy gnocchi!). Two large plates and two desserts later and we were stuffed and happy. Will definitely be back for date night.

A hidden gem
This place is wonderful. I've driven past this place for quite some time and finally went in on a Friday night. It was a great time. We sat at the chef's counter and the chef's were super charming and entertaining. The food was good. Definitely order the mussels and the beet salad. We had the flourless hazelnut cake to end and it was a great way to end an enjoyable evening.

The restaurant was amazing! Food was magnificent and the service was beyond outstanding!

Great Asset the Neighborhood
My girlfriend and I decided to give this spot a try on a Saturday night. Easy parking if you decide to drive. Greeted by a friendly staff. Excellent small and large plates. We unexpectedly gorged ourselves. We will be indeed going back.

Great food in an unlikely location
Food was delicious and service super helpful and friendly. Looking forward to trying other items on the menu.

Unique Old Irving Ambiance
The service was topnotch and the food was great. We chose the pate appetizer, a buttery chicken spread served with dollops of mustard and jam on the side. We enjoyed mussels accompanied by a reasonably priced pinot gris. The mussels were served in an ale broth infused with blue cheese and sriracha--truly unique. The salad was a blend of baby greens, apple slices, cucumber, pecans, pickled onions, roasted shallots, and bits of gorgonzola graced with a tasty vinaigrette. The plump diver scallops were mouth watering and the bass was plump and tasty with crispy, crunchy skin. If you like a loud party atmosphere with quality drinks, food and service in an upscale ambiance, this is the place for you. The food is exceptional; the place is fun.

Bread & Wine and more
We sat at the chef's table/bar and had a very enjoyable evening. When I tell you the kielbasa was excellent, do not get the wrong idea about the kind of place this is. Pretty sophisticated menu with a good beer list. I would like to have seen a few more wines by the glass. Will return.

A great evening!
We finally made it to Bread and Wine last Saturday evening, and we are glad we did! We had a great time. My wife ordered the burger, which was amazing. I had the scallops with mushroom risotto, a special that day, and special it was. However, the star of the show was the three cheese plate! We have never met a cheese we didn’t like, and that night we made some new best friends. We loved the bandaged white cheddar and the Boucheron style fresh goat, and the hickory smoked gorgonzola was our favorite! The service by our waiter Alex was perfect. We had a great evening!

Amazing herb fries!! Mussels
Amazing herb fries!! Mussels were fair. Chicken entree was moist and delicious! The scallop special was perfectly seared with fresh seasonal vegetables.

Love the chef's counter!
Another great meal at Bread and Wine. Started with the chef's choice charcuterie plate and it was excellent. The chicken liver pate was creamy and delicious. The chicharones were ok - just not my favorite thing. Loved the ham and the cheese selections. Moved on to the beet salad which was fresh and flavorful then shared the sinful burger. (It's tough not to order the burger sitting at the chef's counter - they just look so good!) Wish we had gone with one of the beautiful fish selections instead. They looked delicious. B&W has added Tito's vodka to their menu since our last visit which gets a huge vote of approval from me. Our waiter even stuffed some olives with gorgonzola to go with my martini. That was a very nice touch.

I grew up in the area and was very surprised to see that they opened a Michelin rated restaurant in that building. (It used to be a laundromat) Regardless, the neighborhood is changing but it's still in a residential area on a busy street lined with small businesses. It has a nice parking lot (a plus for the area), and it's very easy to find. The décor was very modern/contemporary and although the dining area was not large, it fit several large groups comfortably. The food was very good: I had the PEI mussels, & my entrée was the bass with sausage, kale & white beans; dessert: white chocolate bread pudding OMG heavenly! Very good drink selections. A restaurant of this caliber should belong somewhere downtown, but I'm glad it's here.

Classy neighborhood restaurant
I have to say this is a very nice modern place in an unexpected location. We like the fact that the menu was so simple and short, to the point. If your person who doesn't know about wine, feel free to ask any questions you may have. With hundreds of wines to choose from I left it up to the server to choose a dark red wine for me and a sweet white for my date. To begin, an appetizer we had was the chefs choice of cheese and meats. This platter was very well proportion for up to four people. We ordered two dishes, the muscles (small plate), and chicken breast (large plate). We highly recommend the muscles ... The number 1 reason we will continue to come back for is the phenomenal service. We give Bread and Wine five stars out of five.

A Little Gem
Great food, great service, great wines.... come try - you will be back.
11/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
We love this little gem! Fresh foods and amazing combinations we are so lucky to live near by!
11/13/2013 4:00:00 PM
We have been coming here since they opened. They are not afraid to experiment with the menu, but in a manner that evolves. The food is always prepared with great care. It's a real joy to dine at Bread and Wine. If you haven't tried it and your in the Chicago area you absolutely should. We keep bringing friends and they have all enjoyed it. It's great that they are in the neighborhood, but they are much more than a neighborhood gem.

Amazing Gluten Free Options
Being gluten free makes it a bit difficult to eat out sometime. Bread & Wine has gluten free option that definitely exceed my expectations. The roasted vegetable soup was nothing short of amazing, and the Chicken Breast dish was nothing short of exquisite. The plating was beautiful, and the food was delicious The wine selection is also very good. Our waiter made a suggestion on the pinot noir, and we were very happy we took his advice. The services was spot on, and probably the best service I have ever received in a restaurant. This place is perfect for the "Special Occasion" dinner. Although the prices are a bit high, it was worth every penny to have had a gluten free dinner out.

Enjoyable night out
Small but lively restaurant. Limited menu but very unique fare. Started with a gnochi appetizer, awesome. Burgers, grouper were main dishes we chose, both excellent. Prepared perfect.
We will return.
