Really couldn't have been better. I really enjoyed Augie's. The salmon I had was done perfectly, with interesting seasonings and accompaniments. The pear salad was top-notch. And my server was excellent. Highly recommended.

I had been to Augie's for lunch a number of times. Evening dining was a great chance for my wife and I to spend some time without the kids.
The food is always delicious; the service always swift and kind.

A more private setting
A bit overpriced for the atmosphere and food quality, but still enjoyable. The staff was extrememly cordial. The interior needs a facelift. Food quality is high, just not as high as the price suggests.

Never having been to Springfield
Never having been to Springfield before, I checked with Open Table and Trip Advisor for a restaurant recommendation. The reviews of Augies were on the mark. Great decor, service, and of course great food. Would definitely return.

Best food in Springfield !
Consistent quality food, with a nice presentation in an eclectic atmosphere with professional wait staff that's not pretentious. What more could you want?
Lobster bisque, a staple on the menu
Unique appetizers... (please bring back my "duck nachos"!)
If you aren't up for one of their larger unique salads, ask for the side Caesar salad that's not listed on the menu, and save room for dessert.
Nightly specials, local ingredients... morel mushrooms, Bunn Farm meats.

A little disappointed
One person in our group of 7 had a very tough and nervy steak and he was looking forward to a good steak all week. It was disappointing as this was a graduation celebration and I wanted the food to be outstanding for all.

Exceeded my expectations!
Special event in town - many busy restaurants. Augies took and honored a reservation for a large group. Servers were VERY attentive and well-informed about specials, ingredients, etc. Chef made special meal for my guest with dietary issues. Food was delicious - 12 clean plates after a wonderful meal.

The food was very good, as was the service. On Tues. they offer many wines at half price. They have a nice wine list. For starters we chose two different salads - a beet and tomato salad, and a crispy goat cheese salad. Both were very good, but the shallot vinaigrette on the goat cheese salad had a hint of sweetness that I didn't care for. For entrees we chose the half duckling and the pasta of the day. The daily pasta was a pipette pasta with seared scallops, peas, tomato, and a Cajun cream sauce. I expected the Cajun cream sauce to be a little spicier. The heat was very subtle, but it was good nonetheless. The one misstep was that my dinner companion's salad plate was cleared while I was still eating my salad.

Great find for visitors
Located in the heart of Springfield, we found this restaurant to our liking. The beet salad was excellent as was my entree - beef short ribs. It was served with root vegetables and scalloped potatoes with cheese. My husband had soft shelled crab, equally delicious but slightly tough (something that happens with soft shelled crab) prepared with hableno peppers and cous cous. He enjoyed that very much. My parents ordered the soft shelled crab but wanted it prepared differently. The chef was delighted to prepare their crab sauteed with lemon and butter over lemon basil linguine. It was very nice of the chef to accommodate my parents. Staff was helpful and patient with our requests. Raspberry Sangria - delish!

One of Springfield's best
I dine at Augie's several times a year. I take clients there or go with family/friends. The menu never disappoints and the staff is very attentive, but without being intrusive.

Visited for the second time. Good menu, plentiful options and good food and presentations. Service even a bit better than food; very attentive and timely without bother. Appetizers and salads somewhat unique and well prepared with good spectrum. Pasta special and short ribs; both hot, tasty and plentiful. Plenty of "comfort" choices on menu if you aren't adventurous. Lively atmosphere but conversation still possible. Very convenient to Lincoln sites and genuinely appreciative of the business. Made for a good light meal one night, and a heavier one another. The lemon raspberry mascarpone cake was a great ending. Bravo to Augie!

My son and I ate at Augie's Saturday evening. One of the specials was a ribeye steak, which my 16 year old ordered. It was the BEST steak he had ever had and we buy sides of beef at our house! I had the sea bass and it was terrific also, crisp yet moist and flavorful. The sides were also wonderful. This is a dining experience you do not want to miss when in Springfield IL.

The menu is amazing and the food. Their only downfall is that the overall look of the place isn't amazing, but that's being picky.

Augie's is always excellent! The wait staff, hostess and bussers are all professional, personable and attentive. The food is always excellent and the presentation is first class all the way, especially for the price range.
If you support local growers and farmers their approach is totally in tune with that work as well as they always featue local vendors. We love the restaurant and appreciate the attention we always receive!!

We are foodies from Chicago, and are used to having a great selection of wonderful restaurants from which to choose. We were in Springfield giving our kids a weekend historical sights fieldtrip and didn't have a clue where to eat. Our hotel bartender suggested Augie's. we looked it up, and managed to get a same day reservation (Springfield seems to be a Ghost town in "off" season). The restaurant was busy, but not loud. Staff was amazing - that perfect combination of lively and attentive without being obnoxious. They knew their menu, and made great recommends. Food was Excellent. Somehow the staff found a way to go over and above great service. Little unasked for touches they were able to pull off even when full to capacity. Wonderful.

What a gem in Springfield
This was our first visit to Springfield and Augies -- and both were fabulous! Mu husband had the NY Strip - outstanding! I had the pork chop - incredible!! And our waiter, Gabe, was professional and friendly at the same time. We finished with a slice of carrot cake - oh my gosh, great! Will definitely be back the next time we visit the area!

Everything was fantastic except one entree. The short ribs were awful. dry, hard and stringy. They were ordered due to reviews saying they were a house specialty and so great. Everything else was given high marks by the diners. Waiter, Gabe, was outstanding.

Excellent fresh food fairly
Excellent fresh food fairly priced for a top end restaurant. Flavorful and meticulously prepared. Wonderful attentive service without annoying hovering. Hardest working busboy in the city. Staff seemed very happy with their jobs...a very good sign around food.

Outstanding All Around 5 STARS !
I would have to say that Augie's Front Burner has probably the best food and service in central Illinois. Being my first time there they definitely noticed and treated me and my date as if we were royalty. They gave us a complimentary appetizer dish while we waited for our food and it was only a taste of what was to come in the entrée. I had the Salmon and it was seared and seasoned to perfection and my date had the duck that was out of this world. The service was amazing and they were on top of everything, my drink was refilled continuously and we were checked up on to see if we needed anything. Last to mention is the price. For a five star restaurant it was extremely reasonable. I recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Outstanding as always
Outstanding is the word that comes to mind during our recent visit to Augies. Matt was great and took care of all our needs and provided suggestions for us to try. The food is always great and the spacing of the meal is perfect. and I can't to return again!

This restaurant was perfect for our small group of women! Creative and delicious combinations that was healthy too! Great wine list! We had a time constraint and the staff was prompt and we felt well cared for! All of the entrees were fresh and tender from the filet to trout, organic chicken to the spare ribs! They used all the fall veggies in creative combinations that was perfect for the final touch ! Only problem, we didn't hae enough time for any dessert! Next time, for sure!

This was my first experience with Auguies. I tried the Jazz Musician featured 5 course meal. I had not tasted most of the food in the entrees but wanted to try something new. Everything was great except for the 3rd course. I just didn't like the taste. The ambiance was great and my waiter, Matt was awesome! The prices are reasonable for what you get. I do not mind paying a little extra for great food, great service and a great atmosphere. I will be back in 3 weeks to bring my girlfriends.

Memorable meal and expierience
On our arrival at Augie’s the four of us were greeted by 2 friendly staff and were taken directly to our table. The atmosphere and décor is warm, vibrant, exciting and the aromas sensually enticing.
The signature cocktail and wine lists were as to be expected, extensive. The wine list had far ranging regions, varietals and prices ranging from comfortable to uncomfortable. It even helped that Matt gave us a sample of a few wines as we were undecided on a few of them. A “special tribute 5 course dinner in honor of Charlie Trotter” was being offered and that a ‘slightly narrowed’ regular menu would also be available to us.
OMG, the sauces that accompanied each dish. Way too many flavors and complexities to detail here.
