I made a reservation online for my boyfriend's birthday, and we had a great time from beginning to end.
The woman at the front was friendly and helpful, we were seated right away, and met our server very quickly as well.
The wine list was interesting, with a lot of options, and our server was helpful in recommendations for food and wine.
The portion sizes were appropriate and of good value, and the food was delicious.
We both enjoyed our meal and service very much, and have recommended the restaurant to all our friends.

Fantastic dining event!
Do not miss a chance to dine at Wildebeest. An incredible dining experience that is only topped by the service that the staff provide. The Sweetbreads and the Short Rib were amazing. the process of using Hay to smoke some of the items was simple but flavourful in all aspects. Using the Sous-vide process on the Short Rib made the dish by far the best Short Rib recipe I have ever enjoyed. A dining experience that I am sure will repeated many times by myself in the future.

a different kind of luge
Loved the atmosphere and the diverse menu! We left the decisions in the hands of our capable server and were treated to an amazing tasting menu. The family-style service made for a fun and adventurous evening of dining! The highlight was the bone-marrow luge! Fun and delicious!!

Girlfriend's Birthday Dinner
Went to Wildebeest 2 weeks ago for my girlfriend's birthday. We had never been to Vancouver before, and Wildebeest was one of the highlights of our trip. The food was unbelievable and the service was even better. The waiter was extremely attentive to my gluten/dairy allergies. He went through the entire menu and explained what items I would be able to eat. I emailed Wildebeest ahead of time and they gave us a great table because of my GF's b-day dinner. The highlights of the evening were the main courses: the Quail and the Short Rib. I had never had Quail with honey and the combination was delicious. Also, the short rib was very tender and flavorful. I highly recommend Wildebeest and hope to eat there again on our next visit to Vancouver.

Loved the food, the service was impeccable, and the ambiance was amazing as the other times I went.
Remember to try the short rib!

great first trip to wildebeest
smoked olives, egg/pea/tapioca cup, radish/carrot and daily "pig face" croquettes were excellent.
sweetbreads were nicely done, would prefer a touch more acid but that is personal taste
pork jowl poutine was outstanding...perfectly prepared jowl...probably best I've had...

Amazing! Omokase a must
Impeccable food, drinks and service - go for the Omokase it's worth it. Loved everything that was brought to the table. We'll definitely be back!

Not your average dinner menu!
My family and I visited wildebeest for dinner recently, and we were blown away. We loved the 'family style' presentation of the dishes. Not only that, but the menu was filled with dishes that pushed our comfort zones (pork jowl poutine!) and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the huckleberry fizz cocktail, which was fantastic! Highly recommend the lamb and the halibut dishes. Great atmosphere, and our server was highly knowledgable about the wines and cocktails.

I find it hard to eat out in restaurants. While I am not a vegetarian, I don't eat meat from feedlots and I'm quite particular about where it comes from. This restaurant's commitment to sourcing ethically raised meats means I can order anything I like from their impressive menu.
Great food, great service, and we will be back!

As always the food was great, I love 'farm table' style sharing and the portion sizes are great for filling you up but not over-indulging. I love going here, it's always lively and vibrant and 90% full - nothing better than a good atmosphere to contribute to a great night out with friends.
Bar tenders are great! Some of the best in the city! Didn't feel like dessert but noticed that they had The Botanist Gin on their shelves so asked for a Gimlett made from that (I'm always very particular about this drink as it's a classic and all good bar tenders should know how to do it - just like an Old Fashioned chould always be in their repertoire). Amazing - perfect flavour and taste!

Friday Night at Wildebeest
This was our first time at Wildebeest, and we weren't disappointed. The service was prompt and helpful, and the prices were fair compared to some of the other share plate establishments around that area. We sampled the pork schnitzel, poutine, bison tartare, veal neck, and market vegetables; we would recommend all of them except for the poutine and the market vegetables. The poutine was tasty; however, its size was pretty overwhelming, and it didn't leave much room for the following dishes. The market vegetables (parsnips or turnips - who can remember after beer and cocktails?) just came off as fairly bland relative to the richness of the other dishes, but that was a minor blip in an otherwise excellent evening! We will definitely be back!

Amazing as always!
Wildebeest delivers every time! Great food, desserts, cocktails, and a excellent wine list. The ambiance and service is top notch as well. Can't wait to return and eat more cheesecake! Also, the Al Fresco is a MUST try cocktail.

A completely new experience
We had an amazing dining experience. The restaurant has a noisy, vibrant atmosphere with very pleasant, friendly young people offering to explain every detail of what was to be a great meal. We had the sampling menu and with each dish came a unique combination of colours and flavours. The food and service were outstanding. It may not suit people who are looking for a quiet, intimate occasion, but for us "oldies", we were made to feel very welcome in a "young" setting.

Unique Dining Experience
This is definitely an unusual dining experience and for the adventuresome! We did enjoy the salmon, ha,I but lamb and squid amongst the 4 of us. Very well paced and presented! It was a lovely anniversary dinner out of the norm!

Travelling from the Maritimes, hunting for some culinary delights. Found at Wildebeest. Amazing service, amazing food. Introduced to the delicious Horseradish Sour, and also a chickenhead. Exceptional.

I'll be back
Delicious flavour combinations, deft handling of ingredients and sous vide technique. The smoked olives were unctuous and complex. The squid and beans, short ribs, sweetbreads, bone marrow (and luge!) all superb. The collard greens and other vegetables also were delicious. The only weak spot I found was the poutine. The fries were a bit cold and as a consequence the curd cheese had not melted at all. Given the cost of potatoes, I feel for $21 the portion was smallish. Perhaps complimentary bread would help balance the protein and veg with carbs? As a party of 5, our cheese plate arrived with toasts for 4 which made sharing a bit awkward. Superb cocktails too...the 49E was amazing....and we answered the bonus question! Fantastic service too.

Reviews of this place said one of the best new restaurants in Vancouver... and they were right. Great ambiance, service, location and most importantly, food. Great menu of small plates best shared that had outstanding flavour, texture and excitement. Would recommend highly to those who like meat, and like something out of the ordinary in an atmosphere that doesn't feel over produced, stuck up or like it's trying to hard. Service was amazing, staff obviously care about the food they are serving, and are helpful, chatty and fun. Will return again and again... and again!!
9/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
A great crew of young, talented chefs come together to present mind-blowing dishes such as the best schnitzel / tonkatsu I've had, interesting twists such as pickled enoki in the butter lettuce (Caesar salad) and the puffiest crisped potatoes.
9/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food makes up for the ambient noise
Too noisy by far, weird communal tables, too dark and spartan, but oh my word, the food and the service were fabulous.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Had great time with our four
Had great time with our four person multi-generational family group! We ordered smoked olives (wonderful, if you like olives), bone marrow was fabulous, sausage/prawns (delicious), lamb three ways (pricey but worth it), sweetbreads (not as crispy as we would have liked, with creamy texture on inside). Service was excellent, drinks pricey, fun to see the open bar/cooking area.

Exceptional in every way
I chose Wildebeest purely from reading online reviews and was impressed with what I found: great care is taken in the kitchen and the staff are knowledgeable and genuinely pleasant and helpful. We were a party of four for brunch. We ordered drinks, eggs Benedicts with smoked salmon and omelettes. The kitchen accommodated our request to change the cheese in the omelette, and the barman offered to make a custom non-alcoholic drink for our designated driver. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented, and the fresh plum donuts made us all swoon! Wildebeest is a rare find that's more than worth a foray into this otherwise gritty neighbourhood.

Good vibes, good tunes
The Wildebeest was very enjoyable and convenient to get to. Good food, accompanied by a sweet playlist. Thumbs up to owners, managers and staff for creating a great vibe.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
I had brunch this past weekend for the first time at Wildebeest. I ordered the bone marrow omelette and my girlfriend had the Benny with smoke salmon. We also shared the mini donuts with peach cream filling. Everything was delicious and it was great to see some unique dishes and not your typical Sunday greasy spoon dishes. The only bad thing was I had a pretty bad stomach ache right after. My girlfriend was fine though. I also had a coffee so it might be the cream. In any ase, it was still a great experience. Loved the vibe an decor...very chill. I would definitely want to come back to try your dinner one day.

loved the scallops, ribs need
loved the scallops, ribs need a lot more sauce but perfectly cooked
9/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Tried this place for the first time, and was very impressed. We went for the Omakase, which means Chef's Choice. Got all sorts of yumminess including the end of summer salad, elk, bison tartare, sausage, and quail. Dessert was cheesecake mousse with strawberry sorbet. We also had the most amazing wine - Cuvelier Los Andes - so incredible. The service was good - we first had one waitress, then for some reason had a second one, but she was very sweet. I like the long communal tables at the back - would be great for a big group.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Brunch was the best experience. Eggs were awesome and the bacon we ordered 3 sides more because it was so delicious
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great spot for brunch. A bit on the noisy side, but the quality of the food and the excellent service was terrific.
10/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
The $24 plate of pork jowl sausage, steak, 3 eggs, bread, and house cured bacon is really marvellous. Add 5 friends and a mimosa pitcher and the weekend just makes sense.
10/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
This restaurant was spectacular.
This restaurant was spectacular. The food was of exceptional quality, the service was outstanding and the wine list was eclectic and well put together. Every dish we tried was incredibly satisfying and surprising. I am not a very adventurous eater and tried the lamb tartare which blew me away with flavour and enjoyment. I would highly recommend this place for a couple. Next time we hope to have a group so we can try their feasts menu.

New brunch spot
Excellent food, great service, very nice place. it hit all the marks
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
This place is incredible. The food was outstanding and the service was great. If they did not have something that you wanted they made it from scratch. Really great and good quality food. Recomend to whoever wants a good brunch to share with some friends.
10/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
the recommended pork meal was quite pricy and quite fatty. although it was exceptionally well prepared, mushrooms and sauce were extraordinary, i could not heat half of the served meat because it was just too much fat. I understand that fat contributed to softness and taste of the whole dish but for that money you also serve steak.
10/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Delicious food, great service
went for a late night dinner, really impressed.
great cocktails, food was fantastic - not what you would typically see on a menu which made the experience even more unique
The service was just as good, happy, helpful - even called us a cab when we left
definately recommend a visit here

Different and Delicious
Once again, we had a great night at Wildebeest. The food is consistently superb and quite unusual. Everything is served "family style" so there is lots of opportunity to share the experience. Some of the more unusual dishes that we enjoyed were lamb tartare with horseradish aoli, fried sweetbreads and to end, parsnip pannacotta. Everything served was a treat to the eye and the palate. Just as good as the food was our waitress who was probably the most knowledgeable server that we have ever come across! She was an authority on the food at Wildebeest, but also answered our questions about the building and the cutlery. All in all it was a terrific experience that we will repeat soon.
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
We went next door for dinner the night before and decided upon seeing the brunch menu, this place was a must try. Every expectation was met, the food was original and delicious, the service was friendly and prompt, the drink selection another victory. The next time in town, I will be back to try dinner and will continue to return for brunch!

a dining adventure
The food here is really good. They do stuff to their ingredients like smoke it, dehydrate it and best of all cook it amazingly well.
The space is west coast, lots of fir and brick and high beamed ceilings.
The price of the food is very reasonable. You can increase your bill by drinking the excellent wine however.
10/31/2013 5:00:00 PM
Excellent food, great drinks
Overall the food was very nice. The bone marrow and the halibut were excellent, smoked olives very nice, and the short ribs was also very good. The cocktails were amazing, especially the whiskey cocktails. Services were prompt and friendly, and overall vibe of the space was great.

Best "Beast" More Veggies Please
We had an enjoyable evening at Wildebeest even though we had a 5:00 seating. As 2 "mature" couples, we appreciated the moderate noise level. Enjoyed our view of the open kitchen. Portions of the family style dishes were generous and at least 4/5 for all 6 dishes for flavour and presentation. We ordered every vegetable on offer but craved more veggie options to balance the rich meat dishes. Like Chinese food, you need at least 4 people for a fair sampling. Service was curt at first but warmed up when we made the effort.

We found this restaurant on Open Table and decided to try it after attending an event.
The setting is quite airy with high ceilings and is very casual though we felt quite comfortable in our dress clothes.
Service was excellent, the servers were very familiar with the menu and the wine list and were helpful in assisting us to choose the best choices given the lateness of our reservation. The food was incredibly tasty and creative, from the smoked olives to the squid and the quail everything provided an amazing flavour experience in unique food combinations. They also have a really nice wine list!
No wonder this was given the Best New Restaurant and Best New Design Vancouver Restaurant Magazine Awards 2013.

Good food, and nice change
Our server knew the menu very well, and was good, if a little busy.
The food was very good, and well presented.
The place is a little noisy and could use some sound control panels.
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
A great place to indulge. The food was painfully good, and the "Pig Face Terrine" special blew our minds. We went all out and even did the bone marrow luge

Awesome Restaurant for some very good cuts of meat and great drink menu.

Neighbours at the BEEST
From the moment we walked in we were greeted and taken care of from beginning to the end of our adventure at the Wildebeest. Service/ambiance/food was OUTSTANDING...our server was exceptional as was the hostess.
HIGHLY Recommend the Wildebeest

Awesome service & food!
I took my boyfriend for his birthday to Wildebeest, and it was great! The service was so fast and attentive- we got about 3ish dishes to share and were done in an hour. I liked the atmosphere- rustic wood, candles, open kitchen, group seating.
We ate the smoked olives, each had a soft poached egg with creamy barley, squid and beans, the veg special which was kale w/ onion puree, and the short ribs. I would extremely recommend the olives and egg. The short rib was good but quite fatty. The kale was a bit expensive as a side, but a nice balance to the heavy meat. My boyfriend got a 49E drink which was bourbon, orange? and cardamom. Didn't try dessert. All in all I would definitely come back!
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great spot for foodies and
Great spot for foodies and the more adventurist. If they have the Pig Face Terrine, GO for it. We had the bone marrow too. The rib eye steak takes 20 min to prepare so make time for that. We had been told not to walk there by a waiter at another restaurant but the area is well lit and seemed safe to us.
11/24/2013 4:00:00 PM
We loved it! The menu was more adventurous than we're used to but the food was tasty and the service and atmosphere were off the charts! We'll go back for sure.
11/25/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great for an intimate birthdaparty
This place serves unusual food presented with panache. The melt in your mouth meats and their presentation is an artwork. Loved every morsel. The pre-dinner cocktails were also of the fabulous calibre we have come to enjoy. I am glad that we came here for a special occasion! A truly memorable dinner.

Took a friend here for a birthday dinner, was very impressed with the food, creative bar menu, and service.

Yum! Yum! Yum! Everything!
Yum! Yum! Yum! Everything! Food and the cocktails!
12/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
The vibe was hip but personal , the food was innovative but at the same time familiar and new tastes combined to give the feel of home style atrisian fare. My wife and I were there for her birthday and we felt fr the moment we came in, that this was a special night , and it truly was. Our hostess/waitress Caryn Sturhahn was just an amazing dynamo of positive energy and it felt like she loved her job and her work. She took time to familiarize us about things we didn't know on the menu and really made us aware how special Wildebeest really is. By far the best experience in a new Restaurant since Vij's .
Just loved it !!!!
