Lovely place and delicious food
The staff was very friendly and the food was perfect. We took 3 friends here for a birthday dinner and everyone was more than pleased with everything. I will definitely be coming back as well as all 5 other people in my party.

One of our favorites!
We are never disappointed when we come to Eli's Table. Been here for both lunch and dinner and the food is always great. Service is great, always helpful but not overbearing. Excellent value for the price. Can't say enough good things about our experiences. Charleston is filled with many great restaurants. This is one to be considered.

We had a party of eight and we were seated immediately by friendly staff. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and specials of the evening. Service was outstanding, food was excellent. The manager checked with us to see if we were enjoying the meal and if there was anything that we needed. Upon leaving he and the staff wished us a good evening and hoped that we would return again. We will !

great food and ambiance
What a wonderful time and dinner we had. The quality of the food was superb and the service was excellent. Our waiter Ray was very friendly and went above and beyond with his service.
The ambiance of the restaurant was great and I appreciated the noise level of the restaurant quiet.
All in all a wonderful experience.

I was visiting Charleston with my wife for a long weekend getaway and found this restaurant right around the corner of our Bed and Breakfast. It was a perfect dinner with superb food and wine. The service was outstanding and the ambiance was perfect. Loved this place and I hope to come back to Charleston and eat here again.

Had a great dining experience at Eli's on Saturday night.
First course was the Gorgonzola Fondue -- simply amazing ! You will want to ask for more bread to get every drop !
Entrees were very good and typical of what you find in most finer restaurants in Charleston.
Overall, we had a nice time and enjoyed Eli's -- we will definitely be returning again soon. Thanks!

The chef made a great vegan meal upon request. Good wine list. Nice outdoor area.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
We're natives to the area and have tried many restaurants on the peninsula, but had never tried Eli's Table. Brought my wife there for her birthday and we enjoyed it. It was a Wed. night, so we didn't expect it to be too busy and it wasn't. There were only about 3 or 4 tables occupied when we arrived. Our server was prompt and knew the menu and wine list pretty well, but was a bit disheveled. His clothes looked like he had been working outside all day. That was odd. The food took a little while to arrive considering how few customers there were, but not too bad. I'd rather the food be prepared fresh and take a little while than be rewarmed and served quickly. Overall, food wasn't fantastic, but was pretty good.
8/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
From the Geechi Boy Grits to the perfectly poached eggs, breakfast was great. I had the spinach omelet with grits and short stack and my wife had the Eggs Benedict. Sitting my the window, my coffee cup was never empty and service was fast and responsive.
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
We ate outside and everything was delicious. The bread was amazing, the salads were fresh and the fried asparagus was heavenly. I could write a novel about the mac'n'cheese. Yum. It was really dark on the patio-- that was the only downside. Service was fast and pleasant.

Cutting to the chase, Eli's is without question among the best restaurants in Charleston and could compete against the best in the country. We all have our personal criteria for excellence. Mine include very good tasting, creatively composed, memory invoking food; good conversation with a knowledgable staff; a dining experience that I want to repeat. Eli's did it. I had blackened haddock on risotto, my wife had the pork chop with spinach and sweet potato. We opened by sharing an appetizer of fried asparagus in which the breading didn't overpower the asparagus. I'll end by simply saying that if you like good food and great restaurant experiences then you'd be remiss not to eat at Eli's every time you're in Charleston.

Beyond my expectations
I try not to have too high expectations for overall experience during restaurant week because the restaurant is usually crowded, the food choices are fine but have never blown me away and the wait staff typically wants you in and out because they think that you won't spend as much as you normally would on the meal. Eli's Table was quiet, the food was delicious (I recommend the fried green tomatoes or oyster bisque and without a doubt the beef short rib), and our waitress Kristi delivered the best customer service that I have had in 5 years of eating in Charleston. Restaurant week worked on me because I will certainly be back again to Eli's Table for dinner and brunch because both look delicious.
9/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
I knew that Eli's Table had a great reputation for brunch, but had not heard much else. A friend and I selected it for dinner during Charleston's restaurant week because of the appealing menu options. I started with a lovely salad of greens with fennel and apples, my friend had fried green tomatoes. We both chose the beef short ribs braised with Zinfandel and peppercorns. Served with grits and bacon basted brussels sprouts, it was absolutely wonderful. I savored every bite. Dessert was chocolate mousse with a hint of spice including cayenne pepper. Our server was friendly and attentive. The service is not quite as professional as one finds in many of Charleston's better restaurants, but we had no complaints and will return.

Helpful friendly staff, excellent food great patio
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everything -- appetizers (fried
Everything -- appetizers (fried green tomatoes and oyster stew), entrees (salmon and braised short ribs) and chocolate flourless brownies were perfection. The short ribs had the most amazing flavors and perched on top of these heavenly grits (licking the plate must cross everyone's mind). Delighted when Chef Eva gave a visit to our table. Excellent server, Jasmine, pleasant, attentive and well-versed on the menu items. The entire staff seemed very focused on ensuring a memorable dining experience and pleasant atmosphere for their customers. We will be back!

Very Nice Restaurant
The atmosphere at Eli's Table was quiet. Even though the restaurant was full, you could easily hear the people at your table (we had four). The service was very attentive and friendly. The salad was well-liked by all. Two of us had the short ribs. It was melt-in-your-mouth good. One had the salmon. It was very tender, but could have used a tiny bit more flavor. One had the porkchop. It was quite a bit underdone, but the manager noticed and offered to "take it up a bit". It tasted very good with the side served with it. We had a very relaxing, unhurried evening. This was my first visit to Eli's Table and I will definitely go back to try other entres.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
It is restaurant week and I thought I would try somewhere new. I was a little worried when there weren't many people in the restaurant but quickly dismissed that thought. The service was outstanding the food not only looked good but was very tasty. The protions were a good size and fairly priced. I would recommend this to my friends. Love this town.

evening at Eli's
Loved the location. The staff was attentive and friendly. We went for Restaurant Week deals. The food was very good except the vegetable served with out meal was way undercooked. Liked the place, it is charming and intimate.

Excellent find in Charleston
Looking for great food in Charleston, SC? Do not pass by Eli's table. The food was excellent, the service and ambience the same. All three of us had the same entree but different starters. The Bibb salad was excellent, the goat cheese and dressing very tasty. The fried green tomatoes, a staple in that city, stood out. The pork chops were all cooked to order--even the one ordered well-done was still juicy and tasty. Dessert of their turtle cheesecake was not overly rich but just right. Eli's table will be a regular stop on our trips to Charleston in the future.

This dinner was outstanding
This dinner was outstanding and hands down the best dinner I've ever had! I simply loved it :)
9/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our first experience at Eli's was for restaurant week. The food was amazing (all 4 of us had the short ribs because we heard they were outstanding---and they were!). The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was perfect--energetic yet not rushed.
I would definitely recommend Eli's!
9/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
The lady that waited on us was fantastic and the rest of the staff was very helpful with refills and clearing. Everyone working flowed well together. On top of that food had perfect timing and was delicious. Recommend the salmon as it was very moist and my husband braised rib was so tender you could cut it with a fork. We will be dining there again!
9/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
So glad we went!
Took my girl out for a nice dinner. This was our first time at Eli's Table and we will most definitely be back! The food was amazing, the wine lost was extensive and well-put-together, the signature cocktails were great, and most importantly, the service was second to none! Our server, Robby was truly outstanding; he made great recommendations, had an in-depth knowledge of the menu, and put a smile on each one of his table's faces. This is our new favorite spot!
9/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Glad we tried it
We are locals and have gotten attached to several restaurants that consistently offer great food and service. When we couldn't get a table at one of our favorites, we decided to step out of our box and give Eli's a chance. We are happy we did. The service was wonderful-- knowledgeable, fast and pleasant. The menu had something for everyone. I have a gluten issue and was happy to see the menu indicated gluten free items so there was no guesswork. I had the pork-- it was tender and flavorful. My husband had the ribeye and pronounced it one of the best he had ever had. The desserts were great too; the portions were on target-- not so much you waddled out of the restaurant but enough that you felt you had a treat. A new favorite!
9/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went during Restaurant Week- so husband and I each had 3 courses for $30. Everything was delicious. Some of the best Fried Green Tomatoes I've ever had. Would definitely go back!
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great Restaurant Week Food!
We ordered off the 3/$30 menu. Appetizers were both good, we had the FGT (great pimento cheese) and the Oyster Stew. Main course was the salmon and beef short ribs. Salmon was excellent, melt in your mouth and very moist. Short ribs were very tender with great flavor and served over Geechie Boy grits (the best grits around). Blueberry-Basil Cheesecake for dessert was the hands down winner. Bread pudding was good but not great. Short beer list, not many choices. We ate outside in the courtyard which was ok but didn't make us feel like we were in a "nice" restaurant. Wire mesh chairs and tables, flourescent green Budweiser Umbrellas, etc. The courtyard definitely looked nicer after dark. We will eat here again but will sit inside next time.

First time @ Eli's Table,
First time @ Eli's Table, could not have enjoyed it more, we will definitely make it Our Place. The staff was so nice especially our server, Ray. The menu selection was awesome and priced spot on. Top notch experience, we really had a great time and can't wait to go back!

Charleston on Meeting @ Queen
This was my second time recently at Eli's Table. The food and wine were great both times and the service the perfect mix of professional and warm and friendly. Good variety on menu and wine list, but not overwhelmingly extensive. I know there's a patio out back but have eaten inside both times, very warm and quiet, though I've never been on a weekend. Excellent location in the heart of the historic area; easy walk from many of the hotels. Great extra for Charleston -- there's parking behind the restaurant off of Queen Street.
9/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Best shrimp & grits I've ever had!!
Come here for breakfast or lunch. The shrimp and grits is amazing, almost like a gumbo tomato base. soooo good. They have an outdoor garden in the back which is nice.

So Good We Went Back
My wife and I found the restaurant by accident on a previous visit to Charleston and loved the creative menu and the ambience. Our early dinner included a visit from the chef. On our recent return for business we didn't hesitate to bring another couple with us. And Eli's Table didn't disappoint. This time we sat outside and we loved it. Food again awesome, wine list was more than adequate. Service was very good, no complaints, but not the 5-star you'll experience at white linen tablecloth places. In an historic area littered with good restaurants, we'll go back again.
10/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Since it was late in the evening we enjoyed a wonderful salad and the crab cakes. Both were delicious and well presented. Waiter came back often enough to give us refills on the dipping oil and bread.

Great meal in the face of Adversity
There was a power failure in the French Quarter Sat. night. Eli's had no power - the inside of the restaurant was hot so we ate outside in their patio area! The chefs were using gas to cook with and candlelight to see!! But I know they were sweltering in there! What an inconvenience for them!!! But the service was excellent, the food was perfectly prepared, and it was a romantic, wonderful meal. Any restaurant that can serve such wonderful food, with great (cheerful) service, in the face of such adversity is truly an outstanding restaurant!! Our friends from Charlotte, (who are real foodies!) were very impressed!!

Great night out
We enjoyed on visit to Eli's Table. A very enjoyable experience.

Dinner and a play
Had a wonderful time! Food was EXCELLENT and our service was OUTSTANDING. Our server made sure that we had plenty of time to eat and enjoy our dinner before we headed for the play at the Dock Street Theatre. The evening was perfect!

Nice little restaurant at
Nice little restaurant at Meeting and Queen. Portions very adequate and service by Phil was excellent. Food was good but not off the chart excellent. Chicken was a bit dry. The berry and ice cream desert was excellent. Could have eaten 2 it was so good.

Unpretentious, but very surprising
Walking into Eli's Table, or seeing if from street, one might not expect to be as impressed as you would once dinner is over. The menu selection was robust and inviting, with some local flavors and ingredients to tempt the adventure in all of us...yet, there was also usual standby's for those less experimental palates. Everything was fabulous! Service was warm, inviting and very helpful. Tables and decor were fairly simple and perhaps a bit too cozy with your neighboring diners, but overall it was a very pleasant experience. Enjoyed it very much and would come back again soon to try the other menu offerings.
10/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Had no idea what to expect as I was visiting Charleston for the
first time. What a charming spot right in the neighborhood!
My wife and I both loved our meal, the service, and
and the outdoor patio scenery.
10/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
a Romantic evening for 2
My Husband and I enjoyed delicious food, a wonderful service staff, a quiet evening under soft lights, outside and under the stars. Try the filet of beef. It was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. Husband had the ribeye and it was delicious also. The asparagus was on the tough and stringy side but that was not a downfall nor reason to complain I have already reccommended this restaurant to several friends. You won't be disappointed.
10/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Quiet table in the corner
We had great food and excellent service. The manager is attentive and the waiter was tops.

Three time winner!!!
We stayed at the Charleston Place and asked for a recommendation for a good place for breakfast. Eli's Table was suggested, and only a 5 minute walk down Meeting St. We all loved the ambiance (we sat by the front window) as well as the delicious food. The sweet potato pancakes must be tried! The next night we happened upon Eli's Table and they were able to seat us right away at their beautiful patio. It was like being at a totally different restaurant by being outside. The dinner was outstanding. The service at dinner was fair. I think our server was new. She never asked if we wanted drinks! Our final day in Charleston we returned for breakfast and once again sat by the window and enjoyed some sweet potato pancakes. Go there!
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
I booked this restaurant for my wife's very special birthday. I gave notice on my reservation as such, and was not disappointed. Staff was great, all acknowledged the occasion, and treated us with very special service. We will definitely return.

LOVE this restaurant!
I was visiting Charleston this week and had a reservation at a restaurant known for it's "inventive" menu. The day of, I checked the menu and couldn't find even one thing I wanted to eat. I moved the reservation to Eli's Table and I'm so glad I did. This may very well be my favorite restaurant of all time! The food was outstanding and not at all weird. Many thanks to a restaurant and chef who actually make the taste of the food the driving force instead of combining foods that don't go together just to make a name for themselves. I love that they have recognizable foods and yet they are beyond almost anything I've ever had as far as taste. It's very romantic (white tablecloths, musician playing jazz) with wonderful service.
11/20/2013 4:00:00 PM
Love this restaurant!
I come to Eli's Table every time I am in Charleston. I first tried it because our concierge told us it was dog friendly. We always sit out on their back patio with our dog. The staff is so friendly and accomodating. The food is amazing. I always get the filet which is always cooked perfectly. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
11/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
Happy to have found this gem
Great food. Charming restaurant. A great and friendly staff that was accessible yet did not hover. A roaming clarinet and sax player was a nice touch for the ambiance.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Nice meal and great service
My wife had the salmon and I ate the duck. Both meals were seasoned and cooked perfectly. With all of the competition in Charleston for fine food Eli's Table did not disappoint.
11/23/2013 4:00:00 PM
Lovely, elegant little place
We stumbled upon Eli's Table because of a coupon and were surprised at how wonderful it turned out to be. The server and the manager could not have been more agreeable. The space is quiet and elegant. For starters we had delicious crab cakes and a Caesar salad. My husband had a lovely piece of fish and I had delicious duck. We also had a big dish of vegetable risotto. This place is in the middle of the historic district but tourists don't seem to know it. I would go there again and again.
11/26/2013 4:00:00 PM
A wonderful breakfast
Breakfast service was excellent. Food came promptly. Food(shrimp and grits) were the best in Charleston. Those pumpkin pancakes were outstanding. A real gem!
11/28/2013 4:00:00 PM
We have eaten here on several occasions for breakfast/brunch, but this was our first visit for dinner. The food was excellent. The menu items were creative and the portion sizes were reasonable. The waiter was very nice and attentive. The mussels, shrimp and grit cake, oyster stew and ceasar salad were all delicious. We also enjoyed the fish special for the evening. Everything was outstanding!
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
After looking at several menus for our final night in Charleston, we settled on Eli's because of it's eclectic array of choices.
The gorgonzola fondue appetizer was served with apple, crostini, double cut bacon and potato wedges. Fantastic.
All our entrees were very good. The service was friendly and helpful.
Our experience was so good, we went back for breakfast the next morning and again had a wonderful meal.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
I took my 88 year old grandmother the other night and was really impressed. I do NOT understand why the place was not packed. I called and made a reservation earlier that day but it was not needed. The staff was dressed impeccably, our server, Robert, was very well spoken and did an excellent job. You could tell everyone there wanted to ensure the best dining experience possible. The duck dish we ordered (and split) was really impressive. I am a huge duck fan, so that really says something. I'd love to see more people there next time, because it really was a gem of a find.
