great if you're going for
great if you're going for a show ... food's okay; but it's not a place i'd chose just for the food.

The staff was great, the food
The staff was great, the food was good. It was a nice time. The food prices were high for the food but it was decent. The key lime pie was delish.

Loud (as expected) but enjoyable.
Loud (as expected) but enjoyable. Food was very good, good variety on menu. The happy hour specials were great appetizers

Came for the concert
Spinach dip is very spinachy but it was good, the chips could have been a little fresher though. I ordered the pulled pork and while I prefer a BBQ sauce, the tomato sauce wasn't horrible. I didn't have any complaints overall and since we spent enough money we got pass the line passes (which we ended up towards the end lol). Overall, good experience. The cheesecake was delicious!!

Pretty decent New Orleans-inspired
Pretty decent New Orleans-inspired food. Usually attracts a party crowd there for a concert, and music (good music, at least) play constantly. Definitely an "event" restaurant, not a place to go for a quiet eat.

Great Food and Service
We had never dined at a House of Blues before! We were pleasantly surprised. Food was great. Our family had Salmon, NY Strip and a Burger. We asked the server what people come back for and he highly recommended the chicken. We had chicken the night before so opted for something different. Also, the best surprise of the night was the "Pass the Line" option if you spent $20 per person, you got to get in the "Pass the Line" line for the concert. We were the fourth group to get in. Our daughter showed up late for the concert. Doors opened at 7, we got right in, she didn't get in until an hour later.

We came here before a show
We came here before a show and did the pass the line deal where you spend $20 per person to pass the line for the concert. It was a great deal! The happy hour goes from 4-7pm and was GREAT. It was almost hard to get it to $20 a person and we each had 4 beers and dinner! Great service, good food and great prices. This all started my awesome night!

The food was amazing. My sister
The food was amazing. My sister and I ordered off the happy hour menu, which had a great variety and was priced perfectly. I would definitely recommend going there with a group of friends for happy hour or dinner. We ate in the dining area which had a delightful ambiance, but the bar area looked really nice too...it was very full though because of the concert that night.

Great dining prior to concert.
Great dining prior to concert. The cornbread was fabulous.
4/12/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food was very good. But the service was below par. They didn't have a greeter at each entrance. People walked in and had to seat themselves. Only seen one waitress. The place was not crowded.

Enjoyed the restaurant experience! Good food and great atmosphere! I will definitely be back

we went to the marilyn manson concert and did the pass the line offer. We ate had a couple of drinks and we were sent to the front of the line where we ended up right at the barrier to see the show. Great experience overall.

Good service, good food, good live music playing while you eat.

Food was served hot and was surprisingly good. Server was friendly and recommended a dish for my wife who is not a foodie..
The only "negative" was we dined early in the day expecting it to be relatively quiet, but there was open mic for local metal
bands and it was LOUD. I know it was The House of Blues, but heavy metal at 4P.M. was a bit much.

Good Live Music
We went for a snack before a concert next door; it was fun. The live band was very good, our server was great, the food was good.

After reading some of the reviews I was leary about going, but sometimes you should trust your first instinct which in this instance was go. Food was great we arrived with 20 minutes left in happy hour and they sat us and for us drinks immediately. Would totally recommend this place to anyone who asks me. Started our night here for a bachelorette party and they were awesome in accommodating us and taking pictures of our group. Next time I'm on the west coast definitely going to visit again.

Delicious and Great Service
We went Saturday during Comic-Con and it was very quiet inside the restaurant with most people seeming to be at the bar or outside. We were one of two tables seated inside. Service was great - no shortage of people checking on us. Cornbread, steak salad and BBQ burger all delicious! Happy Hour prices through 7 were nice. We come here every once in a while and I'm sure it's much busier on show nights. We love looking at all the colorful art on the walls and listening to the great music.

One of the Best Burgers Ever
I came to dine at House of Blues by total chance. The ambience is special, authentic, quite noisy though. BUT, they had one of the best, if not THE very best burger I've ever had. Just stunning!!

house of blues dining impressed
I expected much less and was pleasantly surprised. Very good food and I am very picky. Our whole group was very impressed. Thank you Crossroads staff!

Dinner rocks at HOB
I always eat dinner at Crossroads before a concert. The appetizers and food are yummy, and just the right portions. And, the happy hour drinks are awesome with good prices. Better to drink at dinner than pay mega prices once inside the concert hall.

ARRON SANCHEZ MENU BROUGHT US IN
Arrived during HH, drinks & appetizers were reduced in price. Jalapeños & cheese corn bread reg. $7.99 was only $5 and well worth it. Served in a miniature cast iron skillet w/maple butter - delicious. Pulled Pork sliders reg. $9.99 was only $6 & wife said they were outstanding. Draft was only $3. Service was very good, but not without flaws. Energetic music and hand painted murals make for a great art, food & music collision. Arron Sanchez menu re-work, puts some very interesting spins on old favorites. Applewood Bacon wrapped Meat Loaf was perhaps the best I have ever had - of this old favorite and worth every penny of the $17.99 price. Plating was well done, artistic and current. Excellent value in the Gas Lamp, will return.

Got to try
You've got to try the buttermilk fried chicken, Amazing! And my friend had the shrimp and grits. Let's just say we didn't do too much talking while we were wolfing down these great dishes!

Another Great Meal
Everything was perfect. Hostess allowed us to have the circular booth, better for my wife's back, even though I know it's probably a four or six top normally. My Shrimp and Grits were really outstanding - an unusual paring, but it worked. Arron is certainly onto something. All the food was prepared and presented well. Service was spot on technically, but more important was friendly and with genuine warmth. Just a great Friday Night dinner in the Gaslamp.

Not too bad
I was nervous to eat here after reading negative reviews. I'd eaten @ Disneyland HOB & it was just OK. We ate here for the "Pass the Line" opportunity when you spend $20+ a person & it was DEFINITELY worth that at least. We got HH drinks--my vodka tonic was OK but my husband hated the whiskey coke. He enjoyed the signature drink he ordered afterward tho. HH chicken fingers didn't taste like anything, and my husband said his fried chicken was about the same. The sides are all good though, and my grilled chicken sandwich (like I had at Disney) was delicious and came just as I'd ordered without mayo/onions. Overall it's an OK place for dinner if you dont want to wait in line for the concert & dont mind spending $40

Great dining and not too loud bands
Reserved it for a work event on Friday night employee appreciation dinner before going elsewhere to catch a comedy show. Food was spectactular, best corn bread EVAR! I had the Lobster Mac N Cheese was better than I could've ever expected, could've probably used a litte more lobster for the price but was simply excuisite. I tried all the other dishes as well, the pork chop came on bed of squash and beans which was a lovely marriage of flavors I didn't expect to sing together as well as I expected. The meat loaf was a solid dish and wrapped in bacon how can you go wrong. NY Strip was a little pedestrian though that might have more to do with it being ordered well done than the cut itself. Overall a wonderful dining experience.

The shrimp and humus appetizer is a flatbread pizza with shrimp, humus and arugula and can serve as a main entree. It was very tasty and highly recommended by our server. A must have! We each ordered a different salad (flat iron steak and blackened shrimp). It was delicious and very satisfying. The service was top notch. New drinks were given to us when our drinks were half full, not at empty like most places. It wasn't too busy for a pre-concert dinner. We had enough time to see the show after dinner and not feel rushed. We'll definitely make a return trip to try other entrees.
