Great "Hidden" Gem
i needed a last minute Christmas-day dinner reservation for my family and found Jardenea on OpenTable.com. Knowing it was a hotel restaurant, my expectations were not that high - "just let it be decent" was my silent prayer! What a pleasant surprise -- it was not only decent, it was great! Food quality and presentation were great; sevice was excellent and overall, we had a wonderful time. I've been back since that first encounter with a group of friends and they all enjoyed their food and the service. I'll add this restaurant to my list of hidden gems!

A very nice place tucked in
A very nice place tucked in the Melrose hotel, we passed the hotel twice with out knowing that the restaurant is inside hotel (lack of signage), front door personnel guided us to the restaurant, where we got greeted by the manager, sat us down and gave us the description of the menu, suggested few items. I ordered the BLT salad, my wife ordered the beet salad as appetizers, my entree was the Lamb and the wife had the Duck. Food took time to come out but it was worth it. Service was top notch, manager check on us couple of times which we liked.
The only down about the place is the signage,

Amazing, unique food and the
Amazing, unique food and the newly renovated design of the hotel is beautiful.

Superb and well made fresh food! We had the sea bass (imported from Hawaii) and the grass feed beef (from Colorado). Both entrees were impeccably cooked and presented so beautifully. Staff was welcoming and attentive and helpful with wine pairings. My newest D.C. favorite!

I booked Jardenea not realizing
I booked Jardenea not realizing that it was located in the hotel that we were staying at. When we entered, there really wasn't anyone to greet us, but the manager came within 2 minutes and escorted us to our table. The waiters were very prompt. We had the lamb meatballs to start with which were divine, melted in your mouth and worked perfectly with the mango chutney. For dinner, I had the sea bass and the boyfriend had the filet. My sea bass was cooked perfectly, flaky, moist, delicious. If this rating was based off of me I would have gave Jardenea 5 stars. Unfortunately, my boyfriend's filet was perfectly cooked but poorly seasoned. The meat was over seasoned on one side and not seasoned on the other. Making some bites very salty

Charming & delicious
Jardenea hits that perfect note of making you feel pampered and special without being stuffy or formal. The staff here is warm and attentive. The room is so pretty and the food is absolutely delicious. It is noticeable how fresh all the ingredients are and the flavors they create are amazing. The Manager was so friendly and let us linger for hours so we could enjoy every bite. Easily the best meal I have had in Washington.

Truly Enjoyable Meal
Two friends and I met here for dinner and it was an A+ experience from start to finish. The menu was original and creative. All of the dishes ordered between us, which included a terrific Crab Bisque, Lump Crab and Avocado, Bourbon-Glazed Quail, and a lovely Filet Mignon (there was considerable plate-swapping) were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable, not overly intrusive but attentive. The servers were continually taking care of minor details such as water refills and timely plate clearing without prompting. I would unhesitatingly recommend this restaurant and we definitely plan to return soon.

Can not say enough for this
Can not say enough for this restaurant - GREAT food - GREAT service. We were staying at the hotel - The Melrose - however based on recommendations, and preference for organic/farm to table, would have found Jardenea anyway. Definitely would go back!!

Overall a very good dinner,
Overall a very good dinner, 4.5 stars. All of the food was excellent. I had the Hawaiian seabass and my girlfriend had veal with bread pudding. No real complaints. The server was a tiny bit on the slow side but he was nice and knowledgeable.

Outstanding service and attention.
Outstanding service and attention. Beautiful decor and the food was delicate and fresh and prepared and not overly spiced or flavored. Could actually taste the fresh quality in the veggies. Such a find. Will definitely be back.

Was in DC for a family occasion, and we were warned off of the restaurant we had booked. Whilst chatting to the F&B manager at our hotel, The Melrose (itself an undiscovered gem on the border of Georgetown), he recommended his own restaurant, Jardenea. Although leery of self-recommendation, we were so tired we agreed. Thank goodness! A new chef, but one with a simple vision of doing basic things really well, whilst adding his own twist. I am a huge duck snob, and his was in my top three globally. Excellent purchase of ingredients, great combinations of taste and a good understanding of texture. Much recommended, and it deserves to succeed as a restaurant in its own right. Go visit.

Great farm-to-table food
The food was wonderful. I had the goat cheese and beet salad, and I could tell how fresh the ingredients were. For dinner, I had the fresh made pasta, which was equally delicious and very filling. I gave this four stars only because the food was slow in coming. We found out later that it was due to a large event in the hotel.

Jardenia was great! The food was excellent, but William really knows how to treat customers and enhanced our experience.

Celebrating College Graduation
Great room for a special occasion - modern, comfortable, elegant without being over the top. We were 8 for dinner and the raves were: starters> Crab Cakes, Shaved Beet salad and Lamb meatballs; for entrees> Hawaiian Sea Bass - moist, well seasoned & the blue grits were nutty and flavorful; Cowboy lamb got rave reviews from 2- cooked perfectly, the Pappardelle - interesting combo with the egg, great presentation but got mixed reviews from 2. The wine list wasn't the greatest - limited choices but reasonably priced.

We book Jardenea because all
We book Jardenea because all of the good reviews from OT and Yelp. We were going to the Kennedy Center so the nearest Restaurant with good reviews was Jardenea. We were little lost for the lack of signage, then we asked and the valet walked us to the restaurant, it was inside the Melrose hotel. out side the restaurant we were greated by the Manager, he sat us down and explained the menu, suggested few options and this is what my wife ordered, he suggested also few wines which i really liked. Our Server Yutel was very polite and courteous. The wife ordered the Crab Avocado and Seabass, I ordered the Goat Cheese salad and the Lamb. Food was very well presented and well seasoned, service was inpacable, William the manager was very delightful.

Best-kept secret in Foggy Bottom
Service and food terrific. Will come back more frequently.

We were meeting family from Winchester and Jardenea is an easy location and able to handle a fairly large group. The service was outstanding--we felt very pampered. Water glasses were filled regularly, wine was poured, and while waiters were on top of every single need, they were never intrusive. The food was also excellent, though some of the dishes could have used a little bit more of a kick. A salmon dish arrived overdone, and as soon as we commented, a waiter whisked the plate away and 5 minutes brought a new one, done perfectly. My only complaints are that the wine list is pretty pricey (though we were able to find a moderately priced cab which was very good), and the ambiance is nice but still has a hotel feel. Overall, a great meal.

Good for Groups/Special Occassio
We went for a special occasion, and it was perfect. Too often restaurants are so loud that you can't hear anybody, but this place is very intimate and had an outstanding ambiance. The service was absolutely outstanding. It seems like we had 3 waiters and the manager waiting on us hand and foot. My dish (the Salmon) was ok, but other people were very happy with their dishes. I would highly recommend it for anybody wanting to celebrate a graduation or something with a moderately large group.

for the second time that we
for the second time that we visited this place and we were blown away by the service and the food, managers did pass and check on us, explained couple of items since my wife had few question for some recipies. loved the wine and the explanation about it (like the history of it,,, wow). the only thing i gave 4 stars for the food bcoz it tooks little more then usual to get the food out, but it was well seasoned and delicious.
we will go back deffinetly, parking for $5.00 can't beat that.

Our party enjoyed the meal
Our party enjoyed the meal and appreciated the care and attention of the restaurant manager and wait staff. We would recommend Jardenea to others for the tasty fare and ambience.

I was looking for someplace for my wife's birthday dinner that would be new to us and special. I found Jardenea on Open Table and took a chance on a hotel restaurant. What a wonderful surprise! The "farm to fork" approach made our pescatarian choices unusually wide, so much so that we ordered a half-order of an extra entree because we just couldn't decide. The extra touches on otherwise familiar first courses like gazpacho and Caesar salad made them brand-new. Add to all that warm and attentive service and the ability to hold dinner conversation at normal volume and it will be a new favorite of ours. Oh, and with drinks and the extra entree it was $50 each. A terrific experience.

Jardenea for early dinner
We went for an early dinner before a play at the Kennedy Center. We chose Jardenea for easy access from the metro - a couple of blocks from the Foggy Bottom metro stop and there is a shuttle to the Kennedy Center from the metro. It is in the Melrose hotel so ther is no big signage saying "Jardenea" outside, but it has very pleasant surroundings, right off the hotel lobby and across from the hotel lounge. The food is advertised as "farm to fork" and it delivered on that, everything was very fresh and well prepared. Service was superb, attentive without hovering, but we came early for dinner on a Wednesday so we were pretty much the only patrons at the beginning of the meal. Outstanding dining experience and moderately priced for DC.

Great food, ambience, and service
5 stars across the board. The food was a standout -- both fresh and distinctive: watermelon with pine nuts and an avocado and crab tian just to name a couple. The waitstaff was very friendly -- kindness and courtesy without any air of snobbery.
This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. Excellent!

Great service, lovely atmosphere
I recently chose Jardenea for a dinner with three close colleagues/friends the evening before a big meeting we were running. We needed some place nice with good service and delicious food that was also quiet enough to be able to discuss our work. Jardenea definitely fit the bill! The entire staff was terrific, the recommendations that our waiter provided were spot on and they were able to sit us at a nice, quiet four-top. I had a single glass of cabernet (had to work afterall...) - I truly wish I'd written down the name of it; it was one of the best wines-by-the-glass I've had in a restaurant in years. Make note of the fact that the restaurant is inside the Melrose Hotel. I walked past the front twice before I realized this.

Elegant atmosphere, good food
Very expensive, but nice for special occasion. Food was very good and service was very personal as would be expected in such a fancy place. Inside the Melrose Hotel.

healthy, beautiful, delicious
Terrific food. Satisfied four people, each with different objectives: One foodie. Two sophisticates, one European. One health-conscious eater. All very happy. Lovely restaurant. Lovely service. Will return soon.

For the second time, me and my wife we go down to the Kennedy Center and we stop to have dinner at Jardenea prior our event. The service is always impeccable, good food and great atmosphere. Manager stopped by and checked, water glasses is full at all time, wine is great.
The only thing that i scored 4 for food, bcoz desserts too a while to come out, and it wasn't that busy.

Great food and prices
Jardenea provided an excellent brunch atmosphere to a mother and daughter treat. We appreciated the ability to catch up around beautiful decor and low key music. There was a minor mistake with our orders, missing a side of bacon and my mom did not get bacon in her omelet, but we were not charged for the mistakes. Overall I plan to return and would highly recommend anyone to visit.

terrific find in Foggy Bottom
This is a hidden gem, buried in the Melrose Hotel. The food is excellent. Try the fabulous mussels, which have a bit of a Thai twist. The duck and salmon are great, and the warm chocolate cake melts in your mouth. The tables are far enough apart so the noise level is quite okay. Definitely fit for foodies and for special occasions.

Great find, a must visit!
The food was not only delicious, but also wonderfully presented. The menu had a nice variety of dishes that highlighted the use of local farm fresh ingredients. The filet mignon, served with a tasty potatoe side, was cooked to perfection, while the Chilean sea bass with blue grits was surpisingly amazing.
The only drawback about Jardenea is that its a little hard to find, due to the lack of any signage. Overall, my experience was very positive and I look forward to dining there again.

Very interesting concept "Farm to Fork", food was great, server was on top of his game. few times Manager came out and stopped by to say "hello" and checked on food and service.
we didn't realized that the Restaurant is inside the Melrose Hotel, no signage what so ever (not good), but when we called the restaurant we got transferred and spoke with William, he was so nice to go and get us, we were staying at the Fairmont

Service and food were excellent, especially the lamb meatballs and the pumpkin gnocchi. Interesting and fun cocktail menu. The whole experience was wonderful.

Attentive and Friendly service
Had dinner at Jardenea this past weekend with some guests that were visiting from France. We had a great experience overall. The service was very friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. Great atmosphere as well! Thanks for a nice evening :-)

Delicious and memorable meal
We arrived to a near-empty dining room on a Sunday night, excited to order our meal (we had previously checked out the menu online). My wife ordered lamb and I had the sea bass. Everything from the olive bread to the crème brûlée was fantastic. The plating was great, the flavors were rich and intense, and our server kept our drinks refilled and paid extra attention to us (probably had something to do with the empty dining room). I would highly recommend checking out this restaurant for dinner if staying in DC. I'm still thinking about that sea bass now, 2 days later. It was that good!

Great spot for dinner! It's
Great spot for dinner! It's located in the Melrose Hotel Lobby- had it not been for good reviews on open table and Yelp never would have known it was there! Had an early dinner there prior to the show at the Kennedy Center. Excellent food and service, the manager stopped by a couple of times to check on us and recommended an excellent wine pairing for our meal. I'd definitely recommend it for anyone checking out a show at the Kennedy center or staying in the lab.
