NETA DELIVERS!!! I have been
NETA DELIVERS!!! I have been 8 times and each time is better than the time before if that is possible! Everything is a taste explosion!
It is considerably one of the top restaurants in NYC!

Omakaze was the right choice!
Omakaze was the right choice! The flavours escalated as the meal progressed. The highlight for us was the toro sushi and uni sushi. Those 2 sushi was enough to justify our visit from Australia!

great service-attentive staff.
great service-attentive staff. It seemed like we had 4 people keeping an eye on us. Masa at a reasonable price with some outstanding dishes. Duck Foie Gras, Uni Porridge and the Tuna collar a must.

Had the Omakase, ("Chef's Choice"), and though pricey, it was a fabulous dining experience. The servers were knowledgable and added considerably to the dining experience.

A fabulous meal! We'd wanted
A fabulous meal! We'd wanted to eat here for a while, finally got a reservation and decided to order the chef's tasting menu. Each dish was wonderful, beautifully prepared and presented, amazing flavors, flawless ingredients. The cocktails were as artful as the food.

fresh delicious and creatively assembled maki with superb service and authentic Japanese flavors. Truly creative and refreshing for this Japanese American New Yorker.

We had to wait 20 minutes
We had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, but it was worth the wait. The food was wonderful. Regarding the food:
- Kampachi/cucumber/cilantro special was the highlight of the evening. Crisp, tart, refreshing, yet meaty. We ordered a second round, and contemplated a third.
- Szechuan Spiced Salmon with crispy rice was umami-filled wonderful.
- Lime & Yuzu Shaved Ice comes at you not as a finished product, but as a sequence of flavors: harsh tequila, then a few seconds later when the ice melts you get lime, then a slight hint of yuzu, and finally, well after you put the glass down, the salt hits you. Not sure if that was the intention.

Sushi can be fun AND delicious!
We had the pleasure of sitting at the sushi bar, where you get to watch the masters at work. We did the $95 Omakase menu, and we enjoyed every selection made by the chef. At one point in the night, the chef kept coming over and handing us individual bites of sushi, we would devourer them, and then he'd come right back and give us another. This place is a lot of fun, and the food is terrific.

Don't tell anybody!
As a major sushi "fiend" I am very, very discerning. This is my very favorite place to go (though certainly not an every day option because it is pricey). The food is the freshest and most interesting; the service is the nicest and most attentive; the spotless open kitchen is fun to watch. I want to keep it a secret but I can't stop telling my friends how amazing Neta is.
5/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
They even do it without rice
I am currently on a low carb diet, and figured I could do the omakase as sashimi. I was right. They were incredibly accommodating and I had an excellent meal.

With Chef Kim and Chef Lau at the helm, formerly of Masa, the expectation level was high. My expectations were exceeded! The true benchmark, for me, is how is the fish and rice? Neta is one of the best in a city full of extraordinary Japanese restaurants. Sit at the bar and you will feel like you have been invited into a masters test kitchen with brilliance taking place right before your eyes.
The extraordinary offerings go far beyond the fresh fish. Every dish I had was inventive, seasonally based and simply extraordinary. I dined alone on an early Friday evening and can't wait to go back. Worth every penny of the experience!
5/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great overall experience!!! We asked to be sat at the sushi bar table and it was delightful to see how they work, I don't know how they do it but their organization is something to admire...
The food is delicious...The Omakase worth every penny of it...
Thank's to Neta for a wonderful experience...

Amazing and Better
I've been to Neta a few times now and since my first experience I have been blown away by both the quality of service and, most importantly, the food! BUT... what I realized in my last trip to the restaurant, is that it's getting better! Every time I go back to the restaurant, something new amazes me and I believe the dining experience gets better and better (which seems difficult considering the starting point). This, in my mind, is the true hallmark of a great restaurant - one that not only gets you to come back because of the amazing food, but also entices you with growth, maturity and sheer awesomeness!
6/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Rumors are true, it's amazing
Will make this quick. Just go. Everything you've read is true, it's that good. Omakase fantastic; service fantastic; fish quality and variety on a level of its own; chef Nick was there having a good time on a Wednesday... just go. Even better, great selection of Japanese single-malts. Did I mention you should go, now?

One of the best sushi in town
This place is a must try for sushi lovers. The quality and presentation is top level. Only missing a descent dessert menu. The space is quite small and design is poor so cannot give the 5 stars but the food is amazing.

Best Japanese in NYC
Best real Japanese/sushi we've had in soooo very long! We moved here from California two years ago and FiNALLY found a great Japanese culinary gem. Great quality and presentation. Creative and tasty small plates. Nice to get away from the typical mundane wanna be sushi. Will definitely be coming back again!
6/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
A must go if you love raw fish
This restaurant is by far the best Japanese restaurant in the city. Even better than Morimoto. The fish is so fresh and the chef's creations are wonderful and delicious. Definitely order the omakese. They have 2 choices: $95 or $135. The $135 is worth very penny. The wine is wonderful too. My husband only drinks soda and ordered fentiman's curiosity cola. He said it was the best coke he ever tasted. Our waiter, Hiro was fabulous. He explained all the dishes we were served and very attentive. If you want real Japanese food and fresh raw fish, make a reservation! We will definitely go again.

Excellent and inventive
My wife and I knew Neta's chef from his days at Masa. We were very excited to try his new restaurant and we are so glad that we finally made it out to NYC to do so. The food and service were excellent. Our entire party had the 10 course Omikase selection. The food and presentation were not just terrific, but extremely unique compared to more traditional Japanese fare.
Highly recommend for anyone interested in a memorable Japanese meal.
6/30/2013 4:00:00 PM
We are simply over the moon about Neta. Food here is high art and service is attentive and intelligent. It's always a lively debate on the way home: what was the best thing we ate? So many choices.
7/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
The overall experience was amazing. The food was phenomenal and paired with the great service, presentation and ambiance... one can't ask for anything more.
7/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
We went to Neta for our anniversary and there was very little we didn't like. We did the larger of the two omakase options and every course was excellent. I was especially blown away by the service. My experience in NYC at sushi restaurants is that although the food may be top notch, you don't typically get fine dining service like you would at a Le Bernardin or Eleven Madison. However, Neta proved to be an exception. Even though my opinion is that the omakase at Neta can compete with any of the other Sushi heavyweights in NYC, they have a fairly priced a la carte menu that won't crush the wallet if you are looking for a more traditional dining experience either. I would absolutely go back!
7/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food is consistently outstanding. Truly, best sushi in NYC! The service and wait staff are all professional, accommodating and pleasant.
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Sushi as good as best one in Japan
We really appreciated their 135$ tasting menu for a special occasion but what we liked bet was their nigiri which we though was equal to the best nigiri we had in Japan.
The nigiri was both imaginative and classical and in all cases a real pleasure and adventure.
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
You see all the high spending corporate types here- not the restaurant atmosphere I like
7/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
An amazing experience
Literally the best sushi I have ever had. I would highly recommend the more expensive omekase option, which is honestly a bargain considering the extremely high quality of food at Neta. The service was personable and knowledgeable. The drink list was not exactly extensive but focused on artesianal beverages that all not only complimented the meal but could stand alone themselves. I am more than excited to return to this restaurant

best meal I have ever had
I have eaten at some pretty amazing places in my life. Michelin star places. THIS was outstanding. The food was so well prepared, thought out- but not over thought, the flavors, the textures, the care of what came when. This is the best meal I have ever had. From start to finish. No detail was wrong. The service was fantastic, the only thing that I would say to the staff is let us savor! Please don't take our plates so quickly, we are still licking them.
I really did not expect much since I live in Los Angeles and I have some of the most amazing sushi in the states, this was beyond.

Best Sushi in the City
I went to Neta with my friends, who's a chef, and we both loved it. The fish is amazingly fresh, we had wonderful time
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Best sushi ever
I am not the biggest sushi fan, I only came here because my girlfriend loves sushi and it was a surprise. We got the okamase (tasting menu) and let me tell you, if all sushi taste like that; I am a fan.
8/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
I seek out omakase and have had some magnificent meals, but my recent omakase at Neta was off the scales. The selection and quality of fish was superb.
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
very expensive but refined
It's very expensive but, if you don't care about the cost, it's worth it for the exquisite food and the refined choice of drinks (though I'm not sure I can recommend the cocktails; the unusual Japanese beer was great).
9/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
Neta is not to be missed
With the ability to mix combinations of flavor and texture with masterful expertise, Omakase at Neta proves to take the diner to an unexpected place with familiar context. Each bite is a joy as you slide comfortably from dish to dish - each with a flair for the unexplored while tapping inot tastes we all feel at home with. A pleasure to say the least.
9/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went here for a 30th bday...
This is a great restaurant for special occasions and if you have time for a long, sitdown dinner. The Omakase is, hands down, the way to go. We did the 10-course omakase and it was phenomenal. Make sure to make a reservation 2 weeks in advance.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Hands Down The Best
Spectacular fish and presentation. The best Omakasi I've ever had.
9/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were impressed with the attention to detail and the inventiveness of the food at Neta. Their omakase goes beyond sushi and sashimi and featured many cooked Japanese dishes which really surprised our palate!
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
I stumbled upon neta one evening, and decided to make a reservation. Probably, one of the best meals I have had while in New York (this time around). We ordered entirely from the a la carte menu, we ordered sushi rolls mostly.
The sushi was melt in the mouth, and on the waiter's recommendation we ordered kanpanci and sweet potato rolls. The balance of flavours were delicate, it simply has to be ordered when you go there. Our waiter was extremely knowledgable and attentive, he explained all the dishes with confidence.
I highly recommend this restaurant, both the food and service is excellent.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
The sushi is super fresh!
The sushi is super fresh! The service is impeccable - the waiters will refold your napkin every time you get up from the table and are happy to make good recommendations to suit your taste. The concierge asked us how we were enjoying our experience and we were even greeted by the Executive Chef! All the while it was not over the top - cool hip hop style beats playing in the background.
The menu offers a great variety without being overwhelming. wide selection of wines. you can order the staples such as salmon and avocado rolls without feeling like amateur.
All in all Neta does an outstanding job of providing 5-star food and service at an affordable price in an atmosphere that is trendy, fun, and best of all not stuffy and snobbish!
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
I took my husband here for a belated birthday dinner. Food and cocktails were wonderful and overall, we had a great time. Our server and the bartender were gregarious and fun. We would absolutely come again and would recommend Neta to friends.
Omakase was the way to go. The lemonade with absinthe was FABULOUS! Loved the martini.
10/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
did the $135 omakase for two.
did the $135 omakase for two. plenty of food and good assortment of hot/cold dishes. very savory
10/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
High end sushi place full of business types and rich folks. Omakase was pretty good, as always it doesnt seem worth the hefty tag, but you know that. Celebrities seem to frequent this place. Good overall experience.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Some of the best food ever eaten!
Simply wonderful fusion of taste , aroma, texture, style and colour . Great eclectic wine list with some real hidden gems. Great service, knowledgable, precise, fun and passionate about what they do. The Maitre D knows his stuff and keeps that great balance between engaging you but staying out of the way when surplus to needs. Some of the pre Sushi courses on the tasting menus were simply exquisite.
Well done The Neta Team, as it was a great team effort. The batman hand carves your ice! Sal one of the senior waiters is spot on and Cesar, the kitchen Manager great in organising the big team of chefs.
PS. Did I mention I own a restaurant and know how hard it is to deliver great food?
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great sushi joint
Well-crafted and well thought out dishes (sushi and non-sushi). A little pricey but worth it.
10/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Extraordinary service and food
We visited Neta on Nov 23rd.
When we arrived we were shown to the sushi bar - an excellent choice. Here we got the chance to talk to the chefs - there are quite a few. And when we had different kind of sushi we were in the hands of a very charming and serviceminded chef. We were given detailed info of the fish - the correct way of eating it - you name it. This completed the omakase-menu and took it to another level.
We were also given attention by Nick Kim, who had his station right next to us and engaged in conversation several times. I also got Jimmy Lau's card when he greeted us on the way out from a great dining experience.

What a find
They do everything right here. It was my 10 year old son's birthday so the chef ran out to buy him his favorite, lamb (not exactly a sushi restaurant staple) and created a glorious dish for him with fresh porcinis. Wow. You know you have found someplace truly special when you argue about what was the best dish.
