Great food, the duck confit
Great food, the duck confit "cocotte" was spectacular. Very nice French vibe to the place and corkage friendly, overall a great experience.

Food was delicious, better
Food was delicious, better than expected. Only thing not perfect were the oysters. They weren't the freshest and the shucking left many broken shells. This needs to be better.

Very good preparation and
Very good preparation and flavors, can get noisy when crowded, large windows make it appear more open than it is. Small menu, but varied and with a couple unique dishes, the salmon tartar is excellent. The wine menu is limited but well varied and usually there is a featured high quality wine that is featured by the carafe and half carafe. On Mondays it is "no corkage" night and all wines are half price. The wine prices are reasonable to begin with and a bargain in a restaurant like this at half price.

My second dinner in your restaurant
My second dinner in your restaurant in one month and definitely not the last one.

Friday Night in Pacific Palisades
We were greeted with warm smiles by the owner and the hostess. The owner is French and so were many of Friday night's dinner guests. The staff are young, enthusiastic, fast and get the details right on the first try. The bibb lettuce salad was nearly a full head of fresh, light greens with a vinagrette a tad bit heavy on the vinegar for my taste, but my wife loved it. The scallops were perfect, but slightly on on the cool side. The bread is excellent as is the butter. I cannot buy butter this flavorful. My wife had salmon which was served over peppers with a pepper/red sauce. Very tasty. I had steak. It was grass fed Angus--a bit cool, chewy and gamey but excellent. The chocolate souffle alone was worth the drive from San Diego.

Have not had a better chocolate soufflé ever not even in France. The crab cake appetizer melts on your mouth. Coq a vin was the best. I am a believer I'm French food again

An Experienced Chef
After more than one visit one can tell by consistancy, presentation and quality and taste that this Restaurant is maintained by a an experinced and nuanced Chef!

On the third Thursday of each month Chef Alain Giraurd has a prix fixe tasting menu. It was excellent. You can choose
the wine pairing or simply order by the glass or bottle from an impressive wine list. The waiters are just as nice and helpful
as you would hope. When you look out the window you almost imagine the the street is actually the Seine and that you
are in Paris. Wonderful greeting by Chef Alain made everyone feel at home.

We've eaten here before, and been baffled by the variable service, but always very pleased with the food. This time we went in the evening, in a family group, and it was exceptional on every front. The waiter, Pierre, was charming and helpful (his colleague, Guillaume, is another credit to his profession). The Sancerre is the best we have ever tasted. Two of us started with gazpacho, bursting with flavour. The scallops were succulent and fresh. Entrees: the chicken was, our teenagers confirmed, the best ever. The shrimp special - 'en cocotte' - absolutely superb. The chocolate soufflé lived up to expectation: the dish was scraped clean. M. Giraud was on hand, a proud and happy patron. The best food in the Palisades, by some distance.

Wonderful Authentic French Food
My brother is a big foodie, who was visiting the Palisades. I knew Maison Giraud would do him right. i had just returned from Venice Italy, and I felt that I was still in a European Restaurant. The wine list is superb, and we enjoyed French wine. I had the night's special, a Shrimp Cocotte with a red pepper sauce. Everyone was delighted with their food. Save room for their chocolate soufflé, it is a must!

We eat out a lot and this
We eat out a lot and this was one if the best meals we have had in a long time. Every item was fresh, delicious and superbly prepared from the bread, appetizers, entrees to the chocolate soufflé. It may not look like much from the outside of the building but it is a high quality French restaurant with friendly service and reasonable prices. Will definetly be returning.

Excellent food, excellent service, nice ambiance -- we were not rushed, stayed for dinner for over two hours. Waiter patient with questions about wheat.

My friends and i really enjoyed
My friends and i really enjoyed the evening. Food was tasty and well prepared. Some chefs go overboard and create overly fussy food. My fish was cooked perfectly and not overwhelmed by unnecessary flavors. Amazing bread!

J'aime ce resto
Just a good restaurant--interesting food, but nothing fussy. Fresh ingredients, fresh menu. Love the atmosphere. Sophisticated without being arrogant or stuffy. Our server was terrific, if a bit laid-back. Lavender ice cream a real treat. It's my third or fourth time coming--I don't live in the neighborhood, but I'll be back.
7/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
we've loved all of Alain Giraud's restaurants, especially the sadly departed Annissette in Santa Monica. BUT things change and we were pleasantly surprised to have the chef open his new restaurant in our town of Pacific Palisades. We love lunch in this restaurant. i feels like you are in a bistro in Provence with large photos of lavender fields opposite the banquette. Also not to be forgotten is the fact that they have an in house bakery that produces the MOST authentic baguettes around, wonderful croissants and other pastries (get there early or you'll miss out) I'm really fond of the duck mousse terrine with toasts, the best I've had in the city. Maison Giraud has become a regular spot for us

This is a boring restaurant
This is a boring restaurant if you don't want your dinner experience to be consistently excellent all the time.

Gem in the Palisades
As good as it gets all around dining experience and chocolate suffle as good as reputed

I found the special, bouillabaisse, to be not as good as I had expected. Not as good a sauce, but perhaps I am comparing it to the Italian version. Service was good, the lamb was very good as was the green salad and apple tarte. I would like to go back and try some of the standard menu items, not the specials.

A restaurant where you will
A restaurant where you will close you eyes, savor the taste, and say "Oh my God that's good."

A French Bistro atmosphere,
A French Bistro atmosphere, the servings are ample, especially the salads. The menu is small, but everything on it has been excellent, the Salmon Tartar is outstanding and different. The wine list isn't extensive, but it is well balanced and moderately priced, the corkage fee is $10. The bakery produces some of the best bread around. Highly recommended.

We had the most wonderful meal for our 20th anniversary. The service could have been better but other than that it was a great experince
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was delicious and prices were very fair for the quality. Excellent service. My wife and I had a great evening.
8/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were primarily attracted by the chocolate soufflé, difficult to find in L.A., and it was truly delicious. I liked it better than the one served at Le Souffle in Paris -- lighter and served with whipped cream and sauce anglais. To save room for dessert, we ordered appetizers only, but four turned out to be too much food! Lovely cheese plate with four cheeses, slices of sweet bread, jam and stewed fruit -- also available as a dessert and certainly would be a great finish to a meal; tomato salad; sea scallops; and flat bread special of the day (Italian). Everything was delicious! We would definitely go back, but would try to order less.

Should be on you list
This is my fourth time here so I have a good sense of the place. Food is top notch with reasonable portions, fine taste and great presentation. Our wait person was very personable with good understanding on what he was serving. He answered our questions and helped us with our choices. I have had several different dishes here , so I suggest you make your own discoveries as also the menu changes. Make this a stop on your food caravan.

lucky us...maison Giraud is a neighborhood hang for us. So lovely to sit outside on a warm summer evening. We felt like we were in provence. This is a masterful chef with great cred who is having great success with a moderately priced brasserie in Pacific Palisades. Love breakfast to the scent of freshly baked croissants and baguettes and a recent dinner was absolutely relaxed and charming

A Real Gem
I have had everything at this restaurant from brunch to lunch to regular dinners to Tasting Dinners, and it has all been superb. I, too, am an old fan of Alain's, and have followed him from restaurant to restaurant. And there's a reason that he has such a loyal following. He is truly a master chef - using superb ingredients and relentless in his maintenance of the highest standards. In this - finally - his personal environment, he keeps it all relaxed without any sacrifice in quality. And the bakery is a marvelous bonus. Even if you don't have time for a meal, it pays to pick up some of the incredible baked goods. But come early. The locals know that the best stuff sells out. This is a real Provencal gem, and we are lucky to have it.

Authentic fare. Delicious. Environment pleasing. Quiet for conversation. Very enjoyable.
10/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
The ambiance at this bistro was pleasant with a very helpful waitstaff and a blessedly quiet experience. We could actually hear each other even though there were a few larger parties. The smoked salmon and caviar appetizer was fabulous and the fish that we both had was done perfectly. Portions aren't huge, but completely satisfying. The Tarte Tatin was excellent, and on Tuesdays the wines are half price with no corkage if you bring your own. Very relaxing. Definitely a place to go if you like fine food and the opportunity to actually chat with your tablemates.
10/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was always excellent here. The service used to be the worst in California - mesmerizingly incompetent and amateur. But all that has changed, thanks to proper management coming in. The menu choices are perfect, with farmers' market fresh vegetables, delicious fish dishes (excellent salmon tartare; fabulous scallops provencale); perfect steaks, and pasta. Delicious, and perfect-sized desserts. There is a new buzz about the place. This is the best restaurant in the Palisades by a country mile.

A Three Star in the Neighborhood!
Maison Giraud is so far above a typical local hang-out that you're surprised to feel so comfortable and at home while eating first rate Provencal cuisine on an ordinary street. It has one of the best pastry chefs in the country and Chef Alain Giraud is not only brilliant as a chef, but makes you feel welcome and valued. And the food is fabulous. The soups, the scallops, the Duck Confit when it's on the menu and the desserts are wonderful: creative but still accessible. I highly recommend this restaurant.

What A Wonderful Experience!!
I've been a fan of Chef Giraud ever since he signed my menu at my 40th Birthday at Bastide in 2003. His menu then was a revelation. But this restaurant is by far his best finest expression of his love of food. Upon arriving, I felt instantly welcomed home. The service was fast, friendly, French, and incredibly helpful. The wine suggestions were spot on, but the true measure of dinner was the food, and it was glorious!!! We started with a handmade tart with melted rocchetta cheese and shaved prosciutto di Parma. WOW!!! OMG IT WAS PERFECT!!!! The amuse bouche of chicken liver mousse was beautiful and my loup de mer almost made me weep. This is the most wonderful food I have eaten in years!!!

Always great soufflé
Giraud always performs with delicious salmone soufflé and macaroons!

A small menu, but one that
A small menu, but one that is well balanced and with perfectly prepared food. The portions are adequate, the wine list is fairly balanced, though the corkage fee at $20 is high for this type of restaurant. This is an excellent neighborhood type of restaurant with repeat clientele. It is quiet and relaxed, giving you the opportunity to have an enjoyable dinner with whom every you're with. Highly recommended.
