What a lovely experience overall, from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. It was such a relaxing and enjoyable feast - even the bread was fabulous! We have a vacation home about 30 minutes away, and despite the drive, are looking forward to the chance to dine here again. What a great find!

Brunch with the boss
Food was very good. Local beers were a plus. Seating by the deck door was a little annoying when it was opened. But, the highlight of the meal were the servers. Hope the get their act together before the season really starts. I'd go back.

Dining at Diamond MIlls
Greg the maitre d' did everything possible to make our dining experience wonderful. The food, atmosphere, friendly and competent service as well as the rushing waterfall all combine to make this an outstanding dining experience.

Went to the Diamond Mill to celebrate a birthday. I had requested a table with a view in my reservation, and I could not have been given a better table! The food was good, but pricey. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We enjoyed our dinner at The Tavern. The atmosphere was very nice overlooking the falls. Our meal was excellent. The service was good, but a little inexperienced. Nice place for a great dinner.

Engagement dinner -- excellent!
We went to the Diamond Mills Tavern after I proposed to my girlfriend. We were given a great table overlooking the falls. The food was delicious and the server was a sweetheart. Overall, an excellent experience.

Tony Bennett Special Dinner
Diamond Mills was the prime sponsor of bringing Tony Bennet to sing at UPAC in Kingston, NY.. I had eaten there before and it was excellent. When they offered a special early three course dinner in conjunction with the show I jumped at the chance. It was excellent. We both had the sausage ragu pasta course and it was delicious (I'd love the recipe). I had veal saltimbuca and my wife had the balsamic chicken - both were excellent. They use great locally produced meats and cheeses for their dinners. For desert we both has the tiramisu (home made by their pastry chefs) and it was excellent. Attention to detail is great, and the wait staff was wonderful. Bravo for both the dinner and sponsorship of the show!

Casual & Pricey with Great Setting
We went to Diamond Mills for dinner. The luxurious tavern and attached hotel have a stunning setting overlooking the Esopus Falls. We were inside the cavernous main room which lacks the intimacy for a special occasion. The food overall was very good. The appetizers were outstanding but too large. The octopus was perfectly done with lots of grilled vegetables. The lobster corn chowder had a deep smokiness and big chunks of lobster. The entree specials - striped bass and roast duck – were beautifully presented with excellent sides. The dessert special was disappointing - overly complex and not very good. The service was friendly and efficient. The Tavern at Diamond Mills is a pricey restaurant good for casual, but not fine, dining.

Special visit fit for The Tavern at Diamond Mill is excellent.

This was our first dinner
This was our first dinner experience at The Tavern at Diamond Mills; we were very pleased. It was a Monday and, as expected, a quiet evening, which we prefer. The food was outstanding in taste and presentation!

Beautiful Spot for Dining
Sitting near the falls during a great dinner was a perfect evening.
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
It appears that the equestrian enthusiasts have rallied round the folks who spent big bucks redoing this old mill. The result is a beautiful restaurant with great food.

An excellent restaurant
The only shortcoming, if there was one, is that the menu was a little limited. While they have a filet, there was no steak options and not being a filet fan I opted for the double cut pork chop. Glad I did as this was excellent and I was very pleasantly surprised. The food quality and preparation was everything you would expect from a fine restaurant. The wait staff were pleasant, efficient, and engaging. My fiancee and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and despite the 40 minute drive to get there from where we live, will frequent this restaurant again.

Excellent Business Lunch
The Diamond Mills Tavern is an excellent location for a business lunch. The staff was courteous and helpful. The waitress was efficient and non-intrusive. The ambiance is excellent and the noise level low enough to conduct business easily and confidentially. Food was excellent as well. The tomato bisque and chicken Caesar salad were delightful. I will definitely return if the opportunity presents, as I live in New Hartford, NY, about 2 hours from the restaurant, and met with associates from New Jersey, also about two hours from the Tavern, so it made a nice half-way meeting place. Thank you!

Enjoyable brunch spot
We went to celebrate our daughter's 28th birthday. The menu had a wide variety of choices for breakfast lovers as well as more "meaty" lunch type selections for the guys in our group. The prices varied so there was a selection available in all price ranges. The food was very good and nicely presented and the wait staff was lovely, although we would caution you to set aside about 2hrs. for brunch. We chose to eat inside and the interior of the Tavern is lovely and lends itself to a quiet gathering or a larger party experience. Our only negative comment would be that it took a bit too long.
8/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
We stumbled across this place while in town for my Grandmother's funeral. We tried to grab a quick bite for lunch but were informed it would be about an hour wait as the kitchen was backed up. Being in the industry I appreciated the candor and we left. After the days events we decided to make reservations for dinner after the viewing, and it was the perfect venue for our needs. The menu though somewhat limited had something for everyone, a great and not overpriced wine list, and a fantastic ambiance. The service was adequate though not the best I have encountered. The filet with crab crust was tasty and cooked to temp, grilled octopus succulent and tasty, and the scallops over puréed celery root where fantastic. Very friendly bartender also

What a beautiful place!
Saturday night was our fifth visit to the restaurant, and it was a perfect evening for a romantic dinner on the patio to view and listen to the waterfalls. The staff was friendly and accommodating and our table was ready as usual. There are many diversified menu choices, and the food preparation is wonderful. Appetizers of shrimp cocktail and Ahi tuna were excellent as was our entire dinner! We have dined at the Tavern at Diamond Mills for Sunday Brunch and also delighted in the wonderful Mother's Day buffet brunch, an epicurean delight! We look forward to returning again and again.

Easy parking. Scenic view
Easy parking. Scenic view of waterfalls. attached to Diamond Mills Hotel. Very upscale. Decor reminiscent of Restoration Hardware. Food fit for a gourmand. Attentive service. On the night we were there, there was a large number of tables and chairs moving through the dining room to and from the outdoor patio which overlooks a large waterfall. Cucumber lychee martini a pleasant surprise with a delicate balance of flavors. Not sweet as you might expect from lychee. Served with miniature cucumbers, adorable. Crispy oysters are a must try. Flavorful and moist, not your typical fried oyster. Salmon with bay scallops was a treat.

My sister brought us here on the way up to Windham and we have not stopped talking about it ever since. We actually went out of our way 40 miles to comes back again.
Great service, great outdoor seating overlooking a waterfall and a creative menu that does not bore.
Can't wait to find an excuse to go back!
8/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Yet again, my wife and I took our guests to the Diamond Mills for a wonderfully relaxing dinner nestled high above the waterfalls of the Esopus. If you can book a table outside in view of the falls you will not be disappointed.
Great dinner and responsive service.
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Exceptional food, great service in an unique ambience. Everything on the menu is worth a try.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
I made a last minute reservation via OpenTable on a Saturday might for a table overlooking at the falls. The manager called back ( I missed his call) and left a message saying that they likelihood of an available table was small BUT that he would try. When we arrived he greeted us,and asked if we minded waiting a few minutes to see what he could do. The outdoor deck was crowded and it would have been easier for him to simply say "i'm sorry, but we have no room." Instead he worked diligently to move a few tables and make room. Ten minutes later a table was set-up. My wife and I felt like it mattered that we patronized this restaurant. Five stars to you sir!

Great evening with friends
Wonderful evening with excellent wine and good company. We met our friends and we were early, the hostess was more than happy to seat us and was extremely accommodating. I brought flowers for my friend and the put a vase on the table!!! Food was great as usual perfect taste and size. Brunch is a must do at this location as well especially if you can dine outside. Will definitely go back.

girls night out
Having a 10 year old in the house does not provide one with the opportunity for a leisurely delightfully delish meal.....The child was home and i was out with a dear friend and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal which was almost two hours from start to finish.....When back in the Saugerties area again, Tavern at Diamond Mills is a must. The food was exquisite. Thank you for a memorable evening.

The Maitre d' was a wonderful
The Maitre d' was a wonderful host, gave us a tour of the place, explained all they have to offer, showed us the beautiful view of the falls (which they light up at night) and gave us a bit of history. I love that they have a picture of the original building in the dining room. The wait staff was knowledgeable, and gave excellent service, if they didn't know the answer to your question they got it quickly. The food: was delicious, Charcuterie Board ,the double-cut pork chop and okinawa sweet potato the Fresh Rigatoni Sausage Ragu , dessert we shared the Espresso Dark Chocolate Cherry Layer Cake and it was rich and delicious as well. Would absolutely go back and next time sit outside and enjoy the falls.

overall, it was great. we
overall, it was great. we went for brunch after our wedding with a group of people. the soups and lunch foods were excellent. i was surprised they served awful, watery, fake (or watered down) maple syrup that had no taste to it considering they seem to be trying to achieve a certain level of fancy. eggs were semi-cold when i got them. however, shrimp cocktail was level 10 amazing. probably won't get breakfast there again, but would order from the more lunchy items on the brunch menu in a heartbeat.
gorgeous outdoor space and views. saw an eagle! service was very good also.

Scenic and delicious dining
Diamond Mills in Saugerties, NY overlooks the falls over the Esopus creek. The terrace provides a spectacular view and a full moon and clear sky completed the picture.
The food was excellent. We went the lobster way: a lobster corn chowder followed by a lobster risotto. The rice was topped by large pieces of lobster claws already taken out of their shells: no messy work involved.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Beautiful spot for brunch
Dined on the terrace overlooking the waterfall. Food was excellent. Great variety of brunch options too. Definitely a place to go in Saugreties.

A wonderful dinner experience.
The service was superb. The food was delicious, The place is modern and elegant. The ambiance is calming. What more can you ask? The prices were reasonable. We loved it!

Although we were under dressed
Although we were under dressed (came from a soccer match), we were made to feel completely at rest, had a fabulous wait staff and exquisitely prepared food. We walked away knowing we had been to a first class restaurant and want our friends to see for themselves this great dining experience.

Hudson Valley Restaurant Week Lunch
Menu items are somewhat exotic; on the Hudson Valley Restaurant Week menu, there was only one choice that I liked, but it was very delicious. It seemed like we waited a long time for the first and second courses to arrive, and there was no salt, pepper, or sugar on the tables. Coffee was served without bringing sugar. It was nice to be able to choose 3-, 6-, or 9-ounce glasses of wine, but by-the-glass wine is quite pricey. The dining room is open, airy, and full of windows facing the Esopus Creek and falls.
11/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
We were seated by the fireplace by a hostess who was very pleasant and helpful. The waitstaff were friendly and not intrusive, and explained the food to us when asked. It was restaurant week, so we had the prix fixe lunch and enjoyed every morsel of it. The portions were generous, and the food was perfect for a chilly afternoon - homey and hearty with a culinary flair. Would definitely return, and I believe my lunch companion is planning to return there next week.

Service needs more consistency
Great food, great space, amazing view if you go during daylight hours. We had heard that service can sometimes be inconsistent, so it did not surprise us when it was. Apparently, the kitchen somehow couldn't manage all the orders in a proper amount of time and got backed up. Our server, at least, was very gracious and very apologetic, and kept on topping off at no charge the different glasses of wine we ordered during the meal. Our general take on our evening there was that the food and space are great, the employees are as helpful as they can be, but something is seriously missing in the way the Tavern is managed.

After many visits to this
After many visits to this restaurant where everything but the service was great, we had a waitress named Tina
who was a true professional. From the water refills to the coffee service
the attention never slipped.
The food is always prepared perfectly and always creative and delicious.
Finally it all came together.

Sunday evening dinner
Ordered from the Hudson Valley Restaurant Week menu with the wine pairing. Everything was fantastic! There was so much food, we ended up taking some home.

Had a delicious meal in this restaurant. Service was excellent too. The decor is rustic and beautiful. Can't wait to visit when weather is warm and can sit on the patio near the falls. I highly recommend it.

Wonderful experience as usual.
Wonderful experience as usual. Our daughter's wedding reception is at DM next September. Greg allowed Us access to your Ballroom. We had brought a friend,,and It was nice to show her the venue. Our server was knowledgeable,,and helpful. She had very good advise about Your microbrews. I was in a high end place in DC last week,,and the staff were ignorant when it came to beer. All the best. Went for Restaurant Week to the Tavern at Diamond Mills. I hadn't been since they first opened and that was for brunch. The room was lovely with the fireplace going which we were seated near. The hostess could not have been nicer. I chose from the RW menu, my friend ordered off of the regular menu. I enjoyed my three course menu, salad with baby beets/Halibut atop a cassoulet style (sauce ) and an apple crumble with pecan ice cream served in its own personal skillet. I enjoyed my meal, my friend ordered panko and Parmesan crusted chicken which looked very nice. The wait staff was friendly and attentive .
11/13/2013 4:00:00 PM
We took advantage of The Hudson Valley Restaurant Week offering and were not disappointed. Our booth-like table overlooked the beautiful Esopus Creek Falls. It was comfortable and serene. The food was delicious and comparable to the CIA, which we often visit. The service was excellent . We loved that they displayed a large vintage photograph of the Diamond Mill Factory , a paper making business that was original to the site. There are various equestian themed paintings and prints on the walls. We will definitly return to this wonderful restaurant. As an aside, we enjoyed a walk through Scenic Hudson's Falling Waters Preserve before lunch. It is stunning!

Diamond Mills Saugerties,NY
One of my fellow diners was ready "to hate it". Surprise! The food was great. The portions are clearly meant for quality rather than quantity as the entrees come with limited sides, the food was creative and filling. The sauce and the quality of the pasta rivaled any restaurant. The scallops crusted in macadamia nuts turned the "hater" into a lover. The branzino portion was appropriate and the flavor was delicate.
The noise level was a bit high and the maître d a bit surly, but overall the experience was lovely. Our service was good and as far as prices, other than the scallops, they were reasonable.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
Every course, every bite to be savored. Excellent ingredients, beautifully prepared, but unpretentious. Just simply great food. Service is exemplary, and great care is taken from table settings to servings. On a pretty day, sit on the terrace; it is gorgeous (pun intended) out there.
