My wife and I enjoyed the great food, excellent presentation and perfect taste. The service is excellent as well. Our server Ramone did very well in pairing the right wine for each course.

Dinner before Blues
Food and service was outstanding. Loved the pre-fix menu with the Wicked theme, however, the cute cupcake desserts had no taste and appeared to have sat in the fridge for a few days. But loved the idea of them. Fresh made would be hard to do but would have tasted better. Our waiter was superb.

Great restaurant if you are
Great restaurant if you are attending a matinee at the Segerstrom, we like to go following the show, good way to beat the crowds going post theatre. Great way to top off a special day, went for my Mom's birthday, she loved it!

What a fantastic restaurant
What a fantastic restaurant to visit when you are going to a Pacific Symphony concert or another presentation. Located in the Segerstrom Center for the Arts it is totally convenient. You park the car or valet it and there is the restaurant and two beautiful halls for the presentation you are attending. How relaxing and delightful.

Since this restaurant is in
Since this restaurant is in the Seagerstrom Theater it is quite convenient as a place for dinner before the theater performance...the menu is varied and the dishes are well prepared. The service is geared to the start of the performance. The revers are attentive and knowledgeable.
One feature I like is the absence of a corkage charge. We have favorite wines and it is nice to be able to have them with our meal.
We will be returning to Leatherbys.

We eat at Leatherby's Cafe
We eat at Leatherby's Cafe Rouge prior to every symphony that we attend. The service is always excellent, the staff is very polite and prompt, and all of our needs are met promptly. The atmosphere is always excellent also. On this particular evening my husband and I order the Loup. The fish and side dishes were prepared perfectly and were absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed the dessert selections of apple crumble tart and sorbet. Our only complaint is that we wish that the entrees were somewhat larger, as they are quite small.

Can't beat the location for dinner before a concert or play. I really liked the pre-show combo selections on the menu. The quality of the food and service were inline with the prices.

The location for dining before
The location for dining before or after theater can't be beat. We were delighted that the menu had been tweaked since our last visit. New or different items are always welcomed. We enjoy that the noise level is low.

Went to Leatherbys before
Went to Leatherbys before seeing a show at the Performing Arts Center. They have a special menu that is designed around the theme of the show that is playing, so I thought that was really cleaver. Our waiter, Sasha, provided excellent suggestions and service. It was a very special night altogether.

Our waiter, Parker, was fabulous!
Our waiter, Parker, was fabulous! We were going to a performance and he kept reminding us of the time and how many minutes we had left to order dessert or finish our wine before we needed to head over. The food was excellent. Great experience overall!

Impeccable Service, delectable food
Visited this restaurant before organ symphony concert. The hamachi spring roll had a wonderful balance of flavors with just the right acidity and hint of wasabi. The carrot soup was amazing. The pork tenderloin was tender and sauced to perfection. The sorbet perfectly finished the meal. Ramon, our server was way above expectations. When I mentioned it was our anniversary, when our desert came out there was an extra plate with a chocolate desert and happy anniversary written in chocolate on the plate. Will definitely return.

We had the 3 course prix-fixe Flashdance menu ($61 with wine pairings; $40 without) Appetizer: "Up in Smoke" Smoked salmon, smoked quail egg, smoked potato, onion relish, crème fraiche, pumpernickel. Main Course: I had the "Working Man’s Orchestra" of Braised beef short ribs, mushroom risotto, fava beans, truffle jus. My date had "What a Feeling" a squid ink pasta, octopus affogato, laughing bird shrimp, capers, olives, fresno chiles. Desserts: "I Love Rock and Roll" - Baked Alaska, raspberry sorbet, balsamic meringue, coriander and mint syrup, pop rocks. "Maniac" - Peanut butter, Nutella, marshmallow, banana and brioche sandwich, with chocolate sauce. 2 minute walk to the theater; less than a minute to the concert hall. Valet parking-$10.

great people and great food
This was my first time at the Café Rouge. Everyone working there that I contacted- waitress, bus person, host and hostess, phone reservationist- could not have been more personable, professional, or helpful. I sampled four different dishes, a dessert and five different wines. Flawless. I had had a disappointing day to end my week and this welcoming and bright place elevated the evening almost as much as the Duke Ellington Orchestra concert did later. A lovely restaurant in every way.

cozy timely pre-concert perfection
Comfortable, well-lighted, warm, and wonderful food. Thomas Jefferson would love to dine here because it enhances good conversation, brings the outdoors into the ambiance, and most importantly, rewards you with outstanding flavors that you remember.
The service was excellent yet un-intrusive, the menu was remarkable in its breadth but still focused, and the chef's creation of stimulating flavors was at the highest level of imagination. If the chairs were cushioned, I would make it 5 stars.

Perfect pre theater dining
We were a little late for our reservation but the waitstaff advised us on meal selection in order that we not miss our show. These guys were as good as the food. We split the steak and salmon (we will be back for the same) and walked into our show hearing the 5 minute bell. Great night made possible by Leatherby's cafe Rouge.

Located in the same building
Located in the same building as the Renee & Henry Segerstrom concert hall, Leatherby's is an ideal place to enjoy excellent food in a comfortable and quiet setting either before or after a concert. The food is top drawer and the presentations are exquisite, while the service is nicely attentive but not intrusive. We heartily recommend it.

We love to dine here before
We love to dine here before a performance, and the food is usually very good. Free corkage too ! But make sure you ask for Ramone. He is a delightful waiter. We had a terrible waiter this last time. He made us feel like we had dropped by unannounced and demanded dinner from a surly relative. To their credit, management has promised to make it right on our next visit.
6/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
I bow to great management.....
...because it shows the moment you walk in the door! Lin is the quintessential host, with her assistant manager by her side, and we delighted in the Pre-Theatre menu at the bar with mixologist extraordinaire Josh, who deserved and received a standing ovation of his own. Back soon!

A truly special experience!
Dining at Leatherby's for my mom's birthday was a perfectly wonderful experience! The food was superb, service was thoroughly attentive and the ambience was quieter and more serene than any other restaurant we have visited.

Always a lovely evening
Thanks again for making our dinner special. This time I had the carrot soup that was outstanding and the beef tenderloin that was to die for. Great service, inspiring view of Segerstrom Hall, a quick walk to the theater, easy parking. Recipe for a great evening. My friends had several fish dishes and salads and loved them all. One of our very favorite places to dine.
6/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
A nice Pino Gris, an excellent beet salad appetizer, baramundi (light white fish prepared to perfection, a sophisticated light citrus sauce and rice ending with a brown butter ice cream desert was spectacular.

Excellent Pre-Theatre Dining
Great location next to the Orange County Performing Arts Center and Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. Modern decor with a full bar and fine wine selection. The menu changes with each theatre performance. A wonderful selection of menu items prepared with the freshest ingredients. The staff provides excellent service and times your meal to be completed in time for theatre or concert performances. Reservations are recommended and a check of operatiing hours should be made before booking a table or booth as they are closed on non-performance days.

Enjoyable Pre-Theater Dinning
The food and service was perfect. We enjoyed every moment and will return soon.

Had their Sister Act menu
Had their Sister Act menu - with one change to dessert because of allergies. They are always very accommodating about food substitutions or changes because of my allergies. The wait staff always seem to remember me and remember that I have food allergies. Started with the veggie salad - very nicely prepared and just the right amount - tasty and healthy. Then I had the fish, nicely prepared. For dessert I substituted the 2 gelatos of the day - brown sugar and strawberry. Both exceptional. They also have a nice wine by the glass menu. All in all, a lovely meal, I enjoy Cafe Rouge whenever I eat there.

Great place for theater goers
Food is creative, well-presented and tasty. Check out their 3-course selections (and wine pairings) created for each Performing Arts show. Yet to be disappointed.

Segerstrom Theater Dining
Leatherby's is right next to the Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts Theater. It's a beautiful restaurant with a great view of the theaters stunning design. The food is aimed more for the foodie than someone looking for comfort food. Pricing is $$$ but worth it. I had pork osso bucco and it was tender and flavorful. Great for before theater dining.

Perfect Location for Theatre
Loved the service and the flair. They always honor the current play that is at the theatre with a pre fixe menu option. Always good along with the drinks that are available. They are a full service bar. The location is perfect if you are going to the Performing Art Center for a show. I have always had exceptional service when I have gone to Leatherby's and I plan to return based on food and service.
10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Finally made it to Leatherbys prior to a concert, along with the convenience factor, the dining experience added to a wonderful evening out. We will be back!

As always, terrific
Once again, the chef at this restaurant manages to pull off a wonderful selection of delectable bounty. Unique mixtures of harmonized ingredients, old favorites, new dishes-all fabulous.

Very good food, but come early
I went to Leatherby's for the first time on 11/21/13, 1 3/4 hours before a Martin Short performance. When I got there, I had one of only 2-3 filled tables, and service was good. I had 3 courses, and got out 10 minutes before my performance. The food was uniformly outstanding, particularly a butternut squash soup done without any dairy products (I have no problem eating them; it was just remarkable to me that the soup was excellent without a cream base). However, as the restaurant filled, service got much slower, and a table right next to me, seated an hour before the performance, got their food only a few minutes before I left. While I would gladly go again, even without a show in mind, it is by far best enjoyed when not in a rush.

Dinner before the philharmonic
Leatherby's Café Rouge is a great place to meet for dinner before the philharmonic or theater. I can park in the adjacent structure and walk to the theater or have direct access without going outside to the Rene and Henry Seigerstrom Center. The food and service are great and the staff is sensitive to having your bill paid and your leaving in time for the performance. They pamper you without being intrusive. It's always a good experience where the food delights and our conversations are easily shared.

Convenient location, elegant dining
Service was warm and friendly - love the modern decor. While the offerings on the menu were varied enough and well prepared, there was nothing particularly special. A serviceable (if somewhat pricey) place to eat before the theater.
