The 4 cone desert was good once you got past the bland whipped cream that didn't have any sugar added to it. My other complaint was the seating. The bar stools were incredible uncomfortable. Sitting on a very hard stool made the experience unpleasant. The seating didn't make it enjoyable to stay and linger. If they were to add cushions to the bar stools would help a lot. I noted that the table and benches were the same, very hard surfaces. How can Stone's Cove expect customer to say longer than it takes to scarf down there food when sitting on very painful bar stools. It wouldn't have made a difference where we were seated as all the other seats were the same "hard surface".

Unusual dining experience!
Being seated around the kitbar (kitchen bar) is fun. The wait staff members all attend to all guests, instead of a server assigned to each table.
The food is creative adaptations of favorites. Many of the dishes are spicy, so do ask for recommendations and advice regarding ingredients. The wait staff preps all food at the kitbar.
The blue crab lattuce wraps are very nice with large pieces of crab throughout. The lobster cones are tasty. All ingredients are fresh and flavorful.
Do save room for dessert cones...my favorite are the chocolate, but key lime are wonderful too! They will mix and match flavors in the order of 4.

Love this place
Went once for lunch with co-workers and I had to take my wife! My wife and have dined here approximately five times now and we still enjoy going. We like going during lunch for a couple of reasons; 1-the kids are in school (mom/dad alone time) and 2-its much cheaper for two versus four (call me a tight wad but the dinning experience here is slightly expensive!!!). We love it, great food, the service is awesome, everyone is very friendly and did I mention the food is GREAT??? I would recommend this experience to anyone.

I love the concept and the food/drinks were incredible! Service is top notch! Prices are very reasonable.

Always feel like a regular!
Super friendly! ALWAYS makes you feel welcome! I would be heartbroken if they ever left. LOVE this place!!!

Love this place
The menu here is amazing - unique choices and great cocktails. I've enjoyed everything I've ordered. Be sure to try the flatbreads!

Share, share, share
We've eaten at Stone's Cove several times and really enjoy it. Our most recent visit was maybe our favorite. Previously we focused on a more traditional experience - an app or two to share and an entree apiece. This time we had Chili, the Mackinac, and Shrimp and Grits, ordered and served one after another and all shared. Even the entrees are smaller dishes so the whole menu really works well as a tapas format and you have a chance to try several of the fabulous dishes.

Great Herndon Eatery!
It is so nice to find a local restaurant near my work that has good food. They feature many different options from comfort food to healthy options, and the service is great. I highly recommend this place.

A MA ZING
Had an amazing night here. Food is fit for foodies, lobster wraps, crab cakes, and best ever grits! Cocktails excellent, recommend the pear martini. Chocolate expresso dessert was fantastic :) They can easily handle gluten free. Well staffed with good pace! Wishing this restaurant great success and expansion to new locations.

Great experience for all - had a going away dinner for a friend at work.

Great food. Economical prices
5th time back. Always new and inventive food...and with servings that are not gigantic. 4 ladies for b-day lunch. Hot and cold appetizer platter was wonderful. Best hot spinach cheese dip ever. Lobster salad with guacamole in small cones was also super. Chicken salad lettuce wraps were good. Little messy to eat by picking up. Tuna sashimi was great, I was told, as was a flatbread pizza. Drinks were unique. Loved the Pom Cosmo with a frozen pom ice cube. For 8 drinks, one appetizer, four main courses, with tax, bill was $150... Already plan to return for another ladies' outing on July 5.

Fun and different
Our trip to Stone's KitBar was a lot of fun. The atmosphere was cool, the service was great, and the food and drinks were both delicious and reasonably priced. There will definitely be a second visit!
6/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
What a great concept. I love the layout and integration with the kitchen and bar functions. Makes for visually interesting happenings all the time. Add in really good food and you have the kit bar concept. Excellent experience on my last visit. My guest thought so too!

Innovative Concept & Great Dining
Great concept!! Your waitstaff is also your chef and they cook your food right in front of you!!! And goodness gracious the Pom Cosmo with a Pomegranate Popsicle was inspired.. I truly enjoyed my Shrimp and Grits and the Beef Tenderloin Sliders!! And I was informed that they opened a new location in Owings Mills which is a lot closer to me!
6/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Never a bad meal! Great location.
Really enjoy this restaurant. High quality, fresh food. Very reasonably priced. Great staff. Comfortable environment. Great for lunch, happy hour (good wines) or dinner. Menu is not vast -- so it maintains its quality and consistency. Specials are always a good choice. Food is prepared in front of you (hence -- the KIT(CHEN) Bar. Reservations via Open Table are highly recommended and always a breeze. Parking is never an issue since it is located in a large shopping center.

Pleasant Monday Night Light Dinner
Stone Cove is quickly becoming one of our favorite restaurants. We love sitting at the bar and watching the kitchen. The small plates won't overwhelm you and the prices are very reasonable. My wife's burger was very tasty and I loved the lobster cones. They feature a nice local IPA and they have my wife's favorite Kings Ridge Riesling by the glass.

Went here on a whim with my girlfriend looking for something new, and we were pleasantly surprised. From the menu to the chefs to the interaction with other people, we were not disappointed. The menu features mostly smaller plates, and you can chose to order a bunch at one time or each one as you go, eventually we ended up doing a little of both. Our food came out promptly, and each of the chefs were fun and entertaining, adding to the overall experience. At one point there was another couple on each side of us, and we all starting taking recommendations off of what each group was ordering. Will most certainly be back for more.

Great food, fun atmosphere
This is more like a tapas bar than a sit-down dinner place, though the dishes are too big to be called tapas and a bit smaller than typical main dishes. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, but it was pretty busy and loud at 6pm on a Saturday night, so plan accordingly. The service is also like a tapas place- things come when they come, so if you are able to just roll with it you will be fine. If not, you might not enjoy the experience. Overall the biggest negative about Stone's is that you have to go all the way out to Herndon or Oakton to eat there!
7/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Yummy and Great Price
Very cool bar/kitchen scene; attentive bartender/chefs; great food & cocktails and reasonably priced. Hard to find such fun food and atmosphere so far from the city -- this place has it all. I'll be back very soon.
7/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our Cheftender Sanjay welcomed us with Pom Cosmos and suggested the Salmon with Asparagus. We had the Lobster Cones, Tenderloins Sliders and the wonderful Salmon. We ended with the Dessert Cones, chocolate and Key Lime. Great atmosphere, great food, wonderful experience!!

HH One Night
I thought the drinks were a little pricey. Food was priced ok and even though I did not eat my friends did and said it was very good. Great ambiance and obviously a popular spot to go in Herndon. By 6pm there was no room left on a Wednesday evening. I will go back again this time I will try the food. :-)

My wife and I ventured to Stone's Cove Kitbar after reading the reviews on Open Table, so we knew somewhat what to expect. Wow! What a great concept & experience. My wife ordered the Greek salad and I had the tomato, mozzarella arugula salad, both prepared beautifully and the taste, superb. My sirloin was prepared perfectly and my wife says her flatiron steak was also well-prepared and delicious. Our "cheftender" was cheerful, helpful and entertaining. Don't expect a quiet, sedate experience. But if you are a foodie and enjoy sampling small plates and inventive combinations prepared well, you will love Stone's Cove Kitbar.

I was very pleased with the food and service. The servers don't bug you but they show you enough attention and they work together well .
8/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Love this Place!
Been there a dozen times and it never fails to be fun and have great food. I get so tired of all the chain restaurants in Northern Virginia, and the Kitbar is such a welcome, unique place.
8/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
A great night out
This place is one of my favorites for a fun night out with friends. Great food made more social by sharing it with each other. Great service.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was my second visit, the first visit was with a group of girls we had a blast, this visit was only me + him, very romantic...we sat along a long bar and were very content.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Six ladies, who work close by, decided to try a place that only one in group had recommended. We were all very satisfied with our friendly and learned staff. Our waiter was not only well versed on your restaurant's offerings, but was a good cameraman too. From my reciept, I see it was Grant H, who was our waiter and we were at table 124. We had your signature chilli with four assorted sides, other's had your cauliflower soup with four sides, and I had your steak sliders, which were delicious and I would order again. The drinks were a big hit. All in all a very pleasant experience, but a little noisy. Can't be helped at a kitbar!
8/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food but noisy
The food was delicious; I had the lettuce wraps and the special bisque of the day, and both were delicious. Presentation is fun as the food comes "deconstructed" and you can add what you like as toppings to both dishes mentioned abve. Staff is organized, nice and we never lacked for full glasses of our drinks and were asked more than once how everything tasted. The restaurant is designed around the bar, (hence the name I guess!0 and there is no booth or table seating. Any tables actually extend from the bar and are connected to it. Not the best place to hold a business meeting, but fun to meet friends for a quick bite.

ALWAYS A GREAT RESTAURANT!!!!!
Ever since this place opened, my co-worker and I always celebrate our birthdays here since anything we order is excellent, and the service is extra-ordinary. We got to get the name of one of the waiters, his name is Calvin. My co-worker's birthday request for entree was the buffalo chicken flatbread, which was not one of the specials for that day. But, Calvin, the manager and others had a "brief" meeting about this request. My friend was so happy when they decided they can make it. Calvin even gave us a special dessert treat that he created. We were constantly being entertained too by Calvin. At the end of our lunch, my friend had the most satisfied and sweet smile. She said this will always be one of her fave restaurants in this area.

Special Night Out
The best food I've had in a long time, worth every dime. It was a little loud inside but everything else made up for it being too loud.
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food is always amazing. I always want to try something different. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful.
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great Neighborhood Place
I've never been disappointed by a visit to Kitbar.
While all seating is essentially bar seating, things are organized such that you have nice conversational groupings.
The environment is active but not such that you can't carry on a conversation.
And if you just want to people watch, that works too.
I think the Cheftenders are great, collectively, and the food has not disappointed.
9/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great New Approach
Kit bar is something new to me and I really like the approach. This place follows the tapas-style genre and all seats are at a bar that encircles the entire restaurant. All food is prepared in the middle by engaging, friendly service providers/ TV's are in easy viewing range around the bar. The food is well above the level of sports bar food. Wednesday night is half-price wine night. Broiled shrimp on cheese grits is one of the best entrees.

Second time at restaurant.
Second time at restaurant. Food was not up to standard set at first visit. Lead staff, Scott, was excellent.

Salads need help; the rest great
Had a recent lunch at Stone Cove. Meatloaf sliders were great. Corn crab soup outstanding. Service fantastic. Salad (billed as a mozzarella Cesar salad) was tasteless. I love salads and eat them daily. The salads at stone code are terrible. A Cesar salad with barely any dressing and no anchovies? Throw some oil or vinegar on them. How about some spices? Lettuce should not be served dried out. The chef who makes their awesome Cuban sandwich must hate salads. Please fix this.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
A place to go with a group of six. Tables are set for six or less and perfect for conversation. Food is delicious and everyone one there is very friendly and outgoing. They also give back to the community which I believe a place like should be supported in return! Thanks for a great evening.
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Innovative menu &enthusiastic staff
The menu was very well done- what is most interesting is the Cheftender- the bartender also makes your food. The seating is all around a kitchen area which doubles as the bar. Our servers were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic at the menu items. They had opinions, (not the usual "all of it is good" blather) and they could talk about ingredients and the different components of the oven...their pride in their craft was obvious. Their drink menu featured some half food/half drink creations called "edibations" (edible/libations). Creative and fun. Their little table offsets for groups of 4-6 looked like fun. Staff is a real plus. Menu is creative and well-crafted and the kitbar concept is innovative and a real plus.

Great after work hot spot. Good happy hour and great flatbreads.

Great food, nice people
The steak, though less-than-thick, was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Food was very nice, and staff was even nicer. My wife and I had a great time. A really nice date night.

Awesome restuarant! Friendly
Awesome restuarant! Friendly staff, great food, great atmosphere. A fun, fun, place for a date. Go there!
10/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
Interesting! Adult friendly & tasty
It's an active scene and an interesting concept--the "Kitbar". You have a "cheftender" who mixes and serves your drinks and cooks your food at a grill in a center pit where you can observe. Some off-scene prep happens in a back kitchen. Hostesses assist and wash dishes, roll flatware, etc, and keep the pace hopping. It's not as noisy as some bars can be, which was a nice surprize, even on a busy Friday night. With a limited kids' menu is not intended to be kid-friendly. Between the fast pace and open gate between the kitchen and the kitbar area it's also not safe for kids.

Good bar, good food, great staff
A great people watching bar with better than 'bar food' options and a great staff.
11/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
Always great food and better
Always great food and better service. The staff always makes us feel like part of the family and they make a point to come by and great us even if we are not in their section.
11/12/2013 4:00:00 PM
My wife and I were looking for a place to go for dinner without the kids and was recommended Stone's. We were promptly greeted and seated. The service was knowledgeable, fast and friendly but not rushed. Food was very good and had some nice takes on standard American cuisine. Because seating is around a bar like structure large groups or families might have difficulty being accommodated but for 2 people out on a date it was great!
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
Unique food and dining concept
Great entree selection and I love the kitchen/bar concept. Always great food and a great atmosphere. The Tilapia is amazing!

Shrimp & Grits Are Hard to Beat
The only "problem" I have with Stone's Cove is that the shrimp & grits are so good, that's what I always end up ordering so I never get to try the other good-looking menu items. I usually order S&G whenever I see it at other restaurants, and Stone's Cove's is about the best I have had.

My Favorite Meeting Place
When my coworkers were looking for a place for a happy hour we tried Stone Cove and it has been the place we meet ever since. In fact, I recently retired and this is where we had our retirement party. The occasion this time was to catch up with a friend who had moved out of the area. Two of the ladies had never been and they loved the food and ambience. The only thing since it was lunch we did not enjoy one of the delicious martinis.
12/2/2013 4:00:00 PM
Good food, good service, relaxed & pleasant. Never felt rushed by the staff & was able to just sit, enjoy the meal & the company I was with.
