The food is really a step
The food is really a step above. I certainly enjoy going here due to the quality of the menu and the creativity of the chef.

Love No. 9. One of our favourite
Love No. 9. One of our favourite spots in Dutchess County when we come up for the weekends. Especially great for dinner, our boys absolutely love the schnitzel.
For brunch would be nice to see some more breakfast style entrees added, but otherwise it is just great.

Always great to find new place in Millerton area when visiting the kids at school. after long drive from the city, No. 9 was a welcome treat, great wine list and tempting menu, fresh local ingredients, very well prepared, and engaging pleasant service. Will be returning !

Best Dinner in a While
My wife and I made our reservation based on Yelp reviews and their posted online menu. We loved everything: we shared a fresh pasta entree, two salads and two steaks, both of which were cooked perfectly. A few drinks each from their list and a bottle of wine suggested by our waitress. It was a varietal I was unfamiliar with, but it worked. And was modestly priced-$30ish. Their wine list was, in fact, very reasonably priced; I assume they have a reserve list if you want to spend.
Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable; not stuffy at all, which is sometimes an issue in nicer restaurants. Personally, I want to eat imaginatively envisioned and well prepared food while still feeling free to relax and be myself. Number 9 delivered.

Best dining experience of the year!
First curb appeal. The pictures don't exhibit the true beauty of the exterior of this restaurant, With an interior to match. The service was top notch and the food was exceptional. What a great little town with a moviehouse across the street. Well deserved Zagat rating of 27. Will definitely visit again VERY SOON!!! Loved everything about this restaurant.

We had a table for two next
We had a table for two next to a wall on a Sat. night. The tables were filled; the room not all that large, ceiling vaulted. The noise level was quite high and much of the time we could not hear each other across a small table unless we, too, raised our voices. While the food was excellent and we appreciated it being prepared with fresh, local ingredients, the ambiance detracted from the fine meal. If you go on a nice summer evening and want quiet conversation, ask to sit on the terrace.

Great Restaurant in Unlikely Place
To celebrate a major birthday, I went to a resort in northwestern CT. I'd never been to that area before and was amazed to find a fabulous restaurant like No. 9 in that area. The food was great, most of it from local farms. It's in a cute, funky old house in a small town that looks like the country but is actually like a little Manhattan outpost. The chef even thanked us for coming on the way out. Fun experience!

Pleasant dining, elegant setting
Tasty food, Mitteleuropa items excellent (spaetzele, wiener schnitzel). Mid week prix fixe menu a real bargain. Far exceeded expectations for this rural area

A real treat
This was our second time eating at No. 9. This time there was a prix fixe menu. I consider us hard to please foodies with high standards of fresh, local and organic when possible. We had a superb dinner; fresh, light and really tasty. My favorite was the sweet pea soup. Nothing like traditional pea soup. It was sweet, light, cold and oh so delicious. The spatzl with wild mushrooms and tarragon and the halibut were excellent, too. The portions were just right. A starter, dinner and a dessert and we were pleasantly full, but not over-stuffed. Then a nice walk around the neighborhood and a movie at the Movie House rounded out a great date night. We look forward to dining here more often.

No.9 a gem in the Hudson Valley
Very pleasant experience on all levels. Enjoyed a wonderful Sunday night dinner that was first rate.

This charming restaurant located
This charming restaurant located in an inn is a real find. The food is positively outstanding, no matter what you choose. The wiener schnitzel is the best anywhere, hangar steak fabulous, fish perfectly prepared. Consistently one of the best restaurants I have been to.

The staff was a bit overwhelmed, understandable at 8pm on a mid-summer evening, but a little frustrating nonetheless. The wiener schnitzel, spaztle, and duck were excellent, though the lamb burger was the standout of the evening.

Beyond farm to table
We spend summers in this area and find ourselves going back to No. 9 again and again. There are many dining options in the area, but we love that the menu here, which does focus on local ingredients, also includes some sophisticated choices. The crudo (like sashimi) is inspired, as is the tempura -- when the chef is doing it. The menu changes often enough that we happily return and have never been disappointed.

We asked the chef Tim Cocheo to do a tasting menu and it was worthy of a great NYC restaurant. Each dish was creative and delicious. Amazing to find food of this quality in sleepy Millerton!

What a great spot. Tops in food and service. Attractive and fairly priced.
We look forward to our next visit.

My wife and I have been to No. 9 a few times and have always had a wonderful experience and this time was no exception. No. 9 has been a restaurant we have been to for special occasions in the past, this time was for our wedding anniversary. It had been a while I guess since we've been there since the first floor dining was added. We had always sat downstairs which at times can feel a little cramped but cozy. The first floor is nice and open and has a very romantic feel. It was relatively quiet and we sat by a window. The food was outstanding as usual and the service was impeccable. Can't say enough about the veal sweetbreads, I highly recommend. My wife is not a fan or offal but enjoyed it tremendously. Ahh! Ran out of characters!

Really fabulous food! Lamb burger is just amazing, though everything else we ordered was great as well. No disappointments. All local, organic, free range, yada yada yada, which I love.

Nine never fails to deliver an innovative, delicious meal. Their special 3 course dinner is a bargain for truly delectable food. A minor criticism is that the wait staff could have been better prepared in reciting the specials and knowing about the dishes. For example the waitress was unable to identify the cheeses on the dessert plate. This was unimportant in light of an outstanding meal

Great food great service! Can't go wrong at number 9

First time at restaurant. My wife and I were amazed how good the food was at a restaurant in such a small town. Charming location,
beautiful classy room set the stage for a wonderful meal. Service was a little off as we were served by 3 different servers with some wait. That being said,, this was a great find.

Thoroughly enjoyed dinner at No. 9. Two of us shared the Crudo Tasting appetizer which was innovative, light and delicious. The Wienerschnitzel was also a standout. Not being a cucumber fan, I substituted Wild Mushroom Spätzle for the Potato Cucumber Salad and was glad I did. The Spätzle was outstanding. Our waiter was very accommodating. The restaurant is pretty and roomy too - no cramped tables!

Great food, great service. I was worried when I ordered flowers to be on my table from the website. But they came through with flying colors. I am in the food business and very hard to please but no.9 was the best meal I had in along time. My new favorite place.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everything we ordered was excellent. If you go and they have cucumber lobster soup on the menu, get it. We bother ordered hanger steak and it was cooked perfectly with a lot of flavor. Very tender. The restaurant was crowded but we had very good service. The wine was very good, too. We will return again and again. Lovely dinner.

Three-course prix fix a bargain!
The dinner was very good, with a delicious corn soup, excellent salads and very good monk fish and salmon. (The Viener Schnitzel was just OK.) We were there early ( pre-movie), so the ambiance was quiet and the service very good. And the three-course prix fix menu was great value!
