Great night out
My wife and I don't get out with just the two of us much, so when we do, we try to go someplace nice. We both had a taste for sushi, and were not disappointed. We started with a pitcher of their take on a margarita and a lemon-lime rainbow sushi roll. The pitcher was pretty much enough for 4 glasses, which worked out great. The sushi roll was fantastic. We followed that with their tacos and an order of the crispy glazed pork belly from the robata grill. Both were very good as well. The only slightly disappointing part was dessert. The chocolate cake we ordered was laughably small. It was no larger than 3" in any dimension. It could easily have been eaten in one bite. We both laughed when the waitress brought it out.

Good food and some very good service. The food sticks as a great mix of traditional and non-traditional what would be considered Sushi rolls. They were tasty and worth getting the servers input.

Just never disappointed. The food is great. The servers are warm and create a neighborhood feel. And the drink menu is fun.

I had been here before, but this I tried a few more of their dishes and was pleasantly surprised. The tuna crispy rice pieces were delicious. As well, the pork belly was divine!
The "hot stone" tuna experience was great as well. All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty!
Most of the maki rolls were great as well. Will definitely return soon.

we loved it
my husband and I were first time diners at Tokio Pub and loved it. The food was delicious and very well priced. The atmosphere was fun. We will for sure be going back and have already sent friends there.

Not being a huge fan of Japanese food, I was happy to have eaten here one evening. It is not you everyday Sushi joint. Asian inspired tacos should give you an idea of what to expect. They were outstanding by the way. Server was attendant without hovering. Recommend!

Neat experience cooking your own steak and ahi tuna on a hot rock right at your table

first time, pleasantly surprised
I love sushi and Japanese food, so I was excited to try Tokio. The service and food were impeccable. I would definitely go back and try the sushi!

Great and Unique Food Items
Went for dinner on a friends recommendation their take on sushi is good with some traditional choices with some unique selections. The mini taco selection is awesome because they are all good and you can mix and match from 3 to 5. Deserts are good and just the right size after a large meal. I recommend this one and cannot wait to go back.
7/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Tacos were outstanding, just the right amount of heat and tasty. We had the Ahi Tuna and Filet on hot rocks. Great and fun way to cook your own meal. Portions are small, but so is the price so you can try a few things. Service was very good also.

Had a party of 10
We had a large party for my finances birthday.
Great service. The food is always amazing. Loving the new volcano roll! Thank you for bringing back pub potatoes too!!!!!
Went for $1 tacos, ended up with much more food.
Our server Alice always made sure we had what we needed and very friendly personality. All the staff is courteous & pleasant.
Only gripe... It was very humid outside & the windows were wide open. Not fun sweating while you eat. If you're gonna have it all opened up, kick the air up for those who don't handle heat well...

Happi Hour is GREAT!
I came here for the first time with a friend, and since neither one of us had been there before, we decided going during Happi Hour was the best best, so we could sample lots of different foods, and if they disappointed us, at least we only paid half price. Everything we ordered was delicious! We both loved the Crying Tiger Shrimp Taco, and I also ordered a Crispy Fish Taco, and while it was good, the Crying Tiger Shrimp taco was much better. We also had a couple rolls. We both ordered a cocktail (FYI, there are no drink specials during Happi Hour) my friend got the Raspberry Saketini, and I got the In Bloom and we couldn't stop raving about them! Service was good too--attentive, without being annoying. I will definately be back!

Try it for yourself! Excellent!
The food here is excellent! Not only it is very authentic, but the favors are very distinct. My family especially loved the Salmon and fried noodle dish because this restaurant knows what delicious fish taste like. The seasoning on food is perfect, not too extreme to preserve the taste of the meat & sushi. I was especially impressed with the line of sake. The Fuji Apple Sake was delicious, crisp and sweet as if I was biting into a Fuji Apple myself. This sake is served cold to preserve it's taste. Fantastic!!

Great food, fantastic service, decently priced! Overall a great experience! Would go back in a heartbeat if possible!
7/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Always new selections
One thing is for sure, if you haven't been to Tokio Pub in a while, there will be new selections on the menu! The Pub Potatoes are back and amazing....and the Sliders are some of the best I have had anywhere. You definitely need to check this place out for the food, fancy drinks, service, and special events which are loads of fun.

Nice place to dine...
One of my favorite spots. Good food, friendly service, and reasonable prices.

Staff was great. Went with 4 teenagers, and they really enjoyed the menu.

Great Japanese food
My wife and I ate an early dinner here, and it was wonderful. It was fairly empty when we arrived at 5:30, so we had our pick of tables. We sat in the outdoor patio, and the service was great. By the time we left it was getting pretty full, but our server was still attentive.
I ordered a hot rock appetizer, which was quite good. They bring a 500ª rock to your table, and then you cook filet mignon, chicken, or shrimp (I think that was the third option) on it. The filet had a great rub, and was done in just a few seconds.
I then had a dragon roll, which was pretty stellar, and shared some of my wife's teriyaki chicken, which was also quite good. Overall, it was a great dining experience.

We visited Tokio Pub this weekend and it was great experience. The place is small, so if you're going at a prime time, I recommend getting a reservation. There is a bar that you can sit at, an indoor dining room, and outdoor dining area too. The outdoor area is great because it is screened in, so you can enjoy your experience. It was a lively, yet quiet environment where you could enjoy the atmosphere but also have a conversation. I would guess that they can accomodate a larger group, but keep in mind that it may be cozy. The food was very good, and unique. We enjoyed our hot rock appetizer. Drinks were very tasty, and the food was fresh. I will certainly return again.

Good food and service at a good $
Good service. Good menu selection. Flavorful food. Reasonable prices. A variety of dishes to satisfy anyone with any type of food desire, even if you don't like sushi.

Tokio is a casual dining spot in the heart of Schaumburg, located on the "Streets of Woodfield" right off Rt 53. The food is Asian with a Mexican flare or Mexican with an Asian flare. They have sushi, miso, etc. but also offer a variety of small tacos. It's a great place for a light snack if you're not in for a huge meal. Right next store to Shaw's Crab house's bar, which has live music on Friday and Saturday nights. You can have dinner in either restaurant and then sit in the bar and enjoy the music! Great casual date spot!

Great the second time around
Returned to Tokio Pub after an overall positive experience on our first trip. We warmed up with the Volcano Roll, which was good. We followed that with a shrimp and a lobster crispy rice. They were just OK in my book. Next time, we'll stick to the sushi and maki, which we enjoyed before. We split the crispy glazed pork belly which was fantastic. Our server, who was great, informed us that in another 15 minutes it would be taco time, which means 1 hour of $1 tacos (normally $3 each). We might have overindulged, but we both ordered one of each of the 5 kinds of tacos. I have no complaints about any of them.
Overall, we enjoyed our second trip and have no qualms about returning.
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
First time experience and what a surprise! There was somethiing for anybody on the menu, so we made a meal out of the appetizers trying a variety of items. They are known for their 'hot rocks' cooking, which is a heated stone brought to your table (in a bowl) where you can sear your Ahi to the desired doneness. There are other items you can also cook and they have cold stones for the sashimi. Their rolls were excellent and spicy. They even offered soft shell tacos! If you dine between 5-6 PM, the appetizers are 1/2 price. The Mojito was excellent! I'll be back for sure.
8/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Vibrant atmosphere presentation of food is well done.
8/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
We always have an amazing
We always have an amazing time at this location. The servers are great and the food amazing. Try to stop in during taco time... only $1 tacos!~

My girlfriend and I decided we would try this place out for dinner on our 2 year anniversary. Risky move, but turned out to be more than expected. Staff was very friendly and we were seated right away. Server was very knowledgeable about the menu. The Japanese hot rock is a must if you are on a date. It is an interactive, at the table dish so its a great opportunity to get the chemistry going. White peach sangria mixes well with the food and ambiance. I love sushi and this is some of the best I have ever had in this area. The prices are very reasonable for the high quality of food they offer. Great spot! We will be dining here again soon!
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
They have hot-rock cook your own at the table dishes, fresh sushi and hibachi bbq finger foods...so much to choose from! Great beer and wines, truly a good place to eat. Indoors and out!
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
When it comes to taco-time at Tokio Pub you end up getting your moneys worth but the service goes down just a little and it becomes hard to get substitutes. Happy medium... Hit-up Happy Hour.
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
love me some tacos!!
Tokio Pub is THE place for taco time! Love the food, drinks are amazing, and you can't beat the price! We will return again and again!
9/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
I was in the mood for something a little different and this fit the bill. From the drinks to the entrees, this place took a right turn at commonplace and it was a gas!

Tasty inventive Asian, great bar
I've been a regular at T.Pub for some time now. While I drink more often than I dine, on this occasion, a birthday celebration, I had 3 family members along to dine. Mom had a hot rock dish which she loved. I enjoyed my pork belly robata grill. It had a really good fried rice base with intense flavors. Aunt liked her chicken teriyaki though it needed a side of extra teriyaki. We tried one of each taco for an app and everyone liked those. Edamame is a no-brianer and tasty with garlic/ginger. Gyoza (potstickers) were excellent. Service is always good at T.Pub.
9/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
First time office outing
We went to the Tokio Pub for lunch to celebrate a co-workers Birthday. Everyone loved the outdoor patio, and the selection of food!

Fun for couples
My husband and I came for a date night. Fun atmosphere. We had several cocktails and dinner and enjoyed the experience and food. Would go back again.

Want to go back and try all the different tacos.
10/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
Plenty to share and good energy
Took our two daughter (middle and high school) for dinner and they want to come back. So do we. Enough variety for everyone to have what they want and then to share. Chicken wings, pot stickers and a godzilla roll were a great start. Flank steak cooked on hot rocks added a fun touch. Shrimp udon was very good and the broth was slurped to the last drop. Moose track pie was gone in a blink. The kids knew all the songs but it was not too loud. We went early (6:30) and it was not too crowded. However, it was filling up with couples and groups as we were leaving.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Better than expected
Cute place in a convenient location. Food was actually better than expected. Sushi was actually great!!

Had a very nice meal

and other than the first time things have been
very very nice.

Martini Mondays Rock
With Shaw's right next door, you know the fish will be fresh. Enjoy everything from fun, tasty maki combinations (and $5 cocktails on Mondays) to tacos! Portions are small-ish and so are prices, so it's a great place if grazing and sharing are your things.
10/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent for late night date. AMC theater and Gameworks are across the street.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
My girlfriend wanted to go ad we had really good fodder at a decent price there. casual but nice and the service was excellent. appreciate the anticipation if the waitress and going out to make for a good experience.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
What a great place! Didn't want to drive to Shaumburg for Sushi as we have good places close by in Lake County, but a LEYE gift certficate made our decision. FANTASTIC. Sooooo glad we went. Between 4 of us we sampled 4 entrees, 3 apps, 3 rolls, nigiri, and 2 desserts - YUM! Favorite = rainbow roll & anything that cooks on the Rocks! Go!
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
most unique food in Woodfield
I love Tokio Pub - the ambiance is very "West Elm" and the food is very creative and delicious. thedamamme is great and has a very flavorful sauce. I had the crispy pork belly which melts in your mouth. My husband had a hot rocks dish which we didn't realize would be hot rocks and uncooked meat brought to the table. it is a fun process of searing the meat yourself on the rocks.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great American Asian Food
Tokio Pub keeps morphing over time and menu selections seem to get updated fairly frequently keeping things interesting and flavorful. New menu items were identified by our server Alice, and she was competent enough to make some great recommendations for a first timer eating that night as well. Thanks for a fun evening!
11/18/2013 4:00:00 PM
Tokio Pub was reasonably priced. Had a fun menu with "hot rocks". Server explained menu before taking our order. We had a reservation-but they were going to seat us right next to the door. There were plenty of other tables open. Overall a very good experience. They have an awesome heated outdoor area, will have to try that out with a larger group in the spring!
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
First time at the Tokio Pub and the experience was very good. We ask for a Mango martini which was not listed in the menu and the server said no problem. The mango martinis were excellent. They have plenty of appetizers. We tried the pork belly nachos and some sushi. Both were very visually appealing and delicious. Overall. the whole dinning experience was fantastic. Remember to leave room for dessert.
