It has been a while since
It has been a while since my last visit to ABA. Food is even better than before, with a very attentive service (but maybe the personnel is a kind of condescending with customers they mislead for tourists...) Prices are quite low for a restaurant in midtown. Should I refrain to go back? No way. Open you ears, folks: that place is gooooooood indeed... and we very much deserve it. Kudos.

We were looking for a restaurant
We were looking for a restaurant near the Alvin Ailey Theatre and found ABA in OpenTable. We were not expecting anything special and were pleasantly surprised to find out how good it is. The stuffed grape leaves we had as an appetizer were probably the best we've had in years. We followed the waitress's recommendations for specials and enjoyed them both (lamb shank and filet mignon with Turkish spices). It's BYOB since they don't have a liquor license - that reduces the cost. We'd highly recommend ABA Turkish.

A Saturday Night Out with Flair
Your restaurant had a very lively, energetic atmosphere, with attentive service. The dishes we ordered were outstanding!--I had Stuffed Cabbage--delicious......

Great food, large portions, not $
I love this place, it's definitely one of my "go-to" restaurants in my neighborhood. I didn't give it 5 stars b/c it's a more casual place. The portions are large and the food is delicious and it's not expensive. Their bread is FRESH, the best part. Their grilled chicken kebab is always good too. I get delivery, but I like dining there b/c it has a very authentic feel. The service is very good too. Highly recommend!

Great find !
This was a great evening! The food was delicious ( real authentic turkish food - and we have been to Turkey a few times), the hostess very efficient and the fact that it is BYOB make this restaurant pleaseantly affordable ! We will go back.

“BYOB, and succulent Turkish flavor
ABA at 325 West 57th St. is a Turkish gem and a real bargain in the pricey food mecca of mid-town! Unpretentious and unassuming, and just like your family home table! The eggplant salad is heavy on smoke with just the right amount of garlic, and a hint of red pepper flake. The Turkish meatballs prepared with lamb and beef (“Kofte”) and six are way too much for one person! Easily shared for 4. The lamb shish kebab was also a generous portion. Be forewarned that there is no wine list. The wine shop is across the street and ABA does not charge a corkage fee, so BYOB with pride and no wine snob will bother you!
Dinner for two was a whopping $68 on 57th Street in NYC, that has to be a world record!

WHAT A GREAT FIND
Needed to find a place near the Hudson Hotel and came across ABA on OpenTable. The food was delicious the service a little sporadic but they were so nice to let us linger over conversation...I would make it a point to go back. And don't forget to BYOB.

Before Lincoln Center Jazz
We were stuck in traffic, called, & management was very accommodating. The food was good ^ we would go there again.

Low profile gem. Nice size portions. Warm atmosphere. We were in a hurry to make our movie and the waitress accommodated us. You won't be sorry if you try it.

Good value, excellent pre-concert
ABA Turkish Restaurant, aka Cafe Istanbul, offers very good Turkish food at (for the quality) surprisingly reasonable prices (probably because the restaurant doesn't have a liquor license yet--BYOB). Fish and Turkish specialties a cut above most neighborhood Turkish. Friendly service, relaxed atmosphere, generous portions. An especially good choice if you're going to Carnegie Hall down the block and want something good and affordable. (Watch the ezme, though; it's good but garlicky.)

We were a party of 4 adults
We were a party of 4 adults & 2 children. We had a large platter of cold appetizers which we all enjoyed. I have never really liked stuffed grape leaves but they deliciously different here. We all ordered something different and sampled each other's. We all thought everything very very good.

Solid food and service
Four of us dined here on a Sunday night. We were concerned at first because there were only two tables occupied when we got there at 6, but by the time we left, the place was full. This is a good choice for a tasty meal with nice sized portions and friendly service. Since it's BYOB, and the food prices are moderate, ABA is a real midtown bargain. Note that the pictures and descriptions on their website have not been updated in about two years, and the place has been redecorated; we weren't even sure we were at the right place at first. Everything we ordered arrived hot and we enjoyed all the dishes esp the various dips and the Turkish ravioli. The food was very nicely spiced without being too spicy.

ABA Turkish Restaurant serves outstanding Turkish food. Their salad starter was generous and delicious - one of the best salads I've ever had! The Kofte main course was flavorful and well-spiced. I grew up eating Turkish-style cooking and have eaten at many Turkish restaurants; ABA is at the top of my list now! The service is also outstanding : one of my dearest friends and I hadn't seen each other in nearly a year. Our waitress understood this and gave us time over each course, seeing that we wanted a relaxed evening to chat over good food. We really appreciated this!

My Go To Turkish Restaurant
Good place to go with a group -- the food is tasty, it's not too loud, and the service is accomodating.

Outstanding Turkish Food
This restaurant has outstanding Turkish food. There are many dishes to choose from and with our party of four we were able to try quite a few appetizers, entrees and desserts. Our server was excellent, even bringing us a photograph of one of that night's specials when we were uncertain about ordering it. All the dishes were wonderfully seasoned, and the ingredients, especially the vegetables were very fresh. It is a 'bring your own bottle: restaurant, which we hadn't realized, so next time we will come prepared. All this and just a very short walk to Lincoln Center means we will certainly be coming back.
