My two guests and I all loved
My two guests and I all loved Allison Eighteen. The fois gras, kale salad, and octopus appetizers were extraordinary. The brussels sprouts and spinach side dishes were superb. Can't wait to return.

We enjoyed our food very much, especially the main course. The table however was not ideal. There are very few tables for four against side walls, in a more intimate or cosy spots. We set in the center and did not enjoy the table.

A Restaurant for Adults
Alison Eighteen is a beautiful room, quiet and comfortable. We had a corner banquette, which was delightful. Service is friendly and knowledgable. Grilled octopus was delicious, as was the rabbit ragu. The NYT describes it as a restaurant for adults. I concur.

We had a table for 8. It was very comfortable. Tables are not crowded closely together and it was the perfect place for a group to talk and hear each other. The food was very good too.

Steady as always
Love Alison 18 because it delivers great service and food. It's definitely a neighborhood gem and perfect for business or casual dining. I also love the staff!

New York Bistro
Very American, but reminds me of a Paris bistro. Wonderful service in a casually elegant environment. Aromas are as enticing as the taste of the food. Terrific wine program, also.

Only One Problem with Alison
I was sorry that the owner Alison Price Becker was not present so I could tell her personally how much we enjoyed dining at her latest restaurant, But there is always a next time as I am adding her establishment to my list of 'must do' when in New York!

a Little Too Precious
Great, but really petite, piece of foie gras, wonderful shrimp (heads-on) with peas and fava bean salad....but all a little bit precious.
5/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
all time favorite
always good....even on night's when they are busy .

Had a meeting in Flatiron and really struggled to find something near the office. Stumbled upon Allison 18 and it was perfect. Ample room to spread out and go over business. Staff was attentive but not overbearing. And the food was superb. My colleague had the burger and couldn't stop raving about it. I had the butter-poached salmon and it was truly exceptional. Successful lunch and meeting!

Classy, elegant restaurant. Service was a bit off, staff a bit amateur, orders confused, wrong dish, never got what we ordered, cork piece in wine. Other than that portions on the small side. Food was cooked to perfection. Will definitely be returning for the ambience and food. Bill came to about 100/person including drinks and dessert.

Very quiet on a summer Saturday night, but a very glamourous evening none the less.

Great find, Nice bar. Great food. We'll be back for sure.
6/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
We took out of town guests to Alison Eighteen which was a bit of a risk for a first visit. The staff was exceptional. Our guest ordered a drink from the "create your own" on the bar menu. He was very pleased with the results and they said he didn't have to drink it if he didn't like it. The food was all amazing and the best of the night was a spring green pappardelle. We all share and were very pleased with everything we tasted of each others meals. It is going to be on our favorite restaurant list!
6/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Alison 18 is a delightful restaurant. Small, intimate in the front when the curtain to the expansive back room are closed for lunch. We had two appetizers, the sauteed foie gras and the charred octopus, and split the roasted chicken entree. Each item was perfectly prepared, and the chicken was tender and sublime. Wine list was expensive and perhaps could benefit from some more moderately priced options. Overall, a great experience.

Alison Aces It
Alison of Dominick St. resettles on 18th St. with "heart-breaking" burger and crocque monsieuer-to-die-for of heroic dimensions (neither for the cholesterol-ly challenged). Hard to "eat healthy" with this menu of super-sized comfort food, but you do eat deliciously. Topflight hospitality. Decadent desserts .Sure, we'll be back.

A Nice Restaurant Week Find
Having read mixed reviews on many sites I was leery, but its' being a part of restaurant week gave me the incentive to try it. With a few minor exceptions, everything was well done. The fluke appetizer was beautifully presented and had lovely, delicate sauces that complemented the fish perfectly. The duck breast was moist, tasty and perfectly done. My only peeves are that the restaurant week menu only had 2 options per course, my wine had an enormous amount of sediment in it which I didn't realize until I took an unpleasant mouthful and the waiter, who was very efficient, was solicitous to the point of being a bit bothersome. Better than the alternative though. Minor details that would not stop me from recommending this place to anyone.

A Peaceful Place
Alison was the perfect place to get together with two old friends and talk. There are lots of banquettes and the tables are nicely spaced apart from one another. We lingered over our meal, and since it was a Monday night, there was no need to turn over the tables. The food was delicious and imaginatively prepared but the portions are minuscule.

Excellent Restaurant Week Dinner
Restaurant Week can be a questionable time to go to a nice restaurant, but Alison Eighteen offered a well-considered selection of choices, and made it clear that the special menu would vary throughout the promotion, which is a great idea. In addition, they offered optional supplements, such as foie gras, which was a nice touch with the beef entree. The wine list is one of the secret strengths at Alison, with a wide variation of regions and styles, and plenty of interesting options at a reasonable price point. I have enjoyed Alison Eighteen when dining from the regular menu, but I always give extra high marks to a restaurant that offers a really great menu for the $38 prix fixe Restaurant Week promotion.

First visit--enjoyed the food very much. Went for restaurant week and plan to return.

Food was very good, prepared with imagination but not over the top. The room is charming and quiet, service professional. There used to be many restaurants like this, but they seem to have been displaced by noisy, flashy places that take themselves too seriously. I will be back.

ALISON DOESN'T DISAPPOINT
NO MATTER WHERE SHE COOKS, ALISON SERVES IT UP RIGHT!
EXCELLENT FLAVORS, LOVELY PRESENTATION, UNIQUE CHOICES.

Great Food. Slow service.
I've been here several times, and it's always good -- not too fussy, but interesting. The kitchen is sometimes slow. Oftentimes. So not a place to go if you need to get out quickly. But you won't want to get out quickly. The place has a charming vibe, beautiful flowers, and great food.

Glad Alison has returned to NYC. It was a favorite and it deserves the best reviews.
We were treated well during Restaurant Week, with excellence in food and service.

Deliciously crafted food
Creative, original cuisine. The Black Garlic Pappardelle was delicious, and the deconstructed Blue Cheesecake was unreal. Warm friendly service make this a great choice. I'm often suspect of restaurants offering 1,000 point bonuses, but Alison Eighteen delivered.

amazing food in a great space
This was my third time at Alison Eighteen and it was better than ever. The new chef is really fabulous. I had an amazing lobster, corn and mushroom salad to start, salmon a la plancha with cucumber spaghetti and beet puree, and the most amazing cookie plate I have ever had. The peanut butter and Concord grape creations are totally addictive. The wine list is very well chosen, with nice surprises and a range of prices. And the space - bar, front room and main dining room - are festive yet comfortable. Alison was there in person welcoming people. A great experience all around!

This was our first visit here. It was quiet for a Saturday night but vibe is certainly very pleasant. Décor is lovely. Service was good and the staff were refreshingly friendly. We thought the food was very good with some clever touches. Well worth a visit.

Love at first bite!
Had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Alison Eighteen. The service was terrific and the food delicious. The roast chicken should not be missed. We also tried the seared foie gras which was out of this world. The wine list was also quite extensive.
We will return.

best kept secret on a sat night
I've passed this restaurants window many times and it's always busy.
Therefore I booked a table for Sat night. It was great.
If you re looking for great food that tastes good and is plated beautifully, polite, friendly service and a quiet restaurant- this will be good for u.
also under no obligation to rush our meal. Would definitely go
back, especially with friends.

Cozy, Tranquil, and Farm Fresh
Each dish was as visually appealing as it was delectable. Their dedication to serving farm-to-table is what brought me to this restaurant and it was a delight to the senses in every way. Inside the quiet, candlelit Alison Eighteen we completely forgot about he bustling streets outside. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, eloquent, and attentive. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to a friend! What a wonderful respite from city life!

Quiet, empty, delicious
Not sure why this place was so empty on a Friday night. The restaurant is beautiful, the food was very good. People should go!
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good environment to dine and talk
Our group of six had a perfect table tucked away on one side where we could visit without needing to yell over other bar or restaurant noise. While service was fairly prompt and unobtrusive, drink orders got confused and both beers selected were no longer available. The food had mixed reviews, not bad, but not outstanding in the NY dining scene.
A good choice when conversation is the most important goal.

A Flatiron Find
I picked Alison Eighteen for a surprise "date" with my wife, returning to the neighborhood where we had rented our first apartment 39(!) years ago. We were seated promptly for our 730 pm dinner reservation. Service was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was perfect--quiet and elegant, with adequate space. My roasted bone marrow appetizer was delicious, as was the chef's pork special which I enjoyed as the main course. The scallop dish which my wife had was also excellent. Would return.

Food was delicious, service
Food was delicious, service was odd. Waitress kept coming back to our table our order and no one was in the restaurant yet! Except one table which had Michele Lee and Sandra Bernhardt! Came back 3 times for our dinner order. We told her we were in no rush, but apparently she was!
Dinner and appetizers were delicious, desserts had a lot to be desired. Too deconstructed for my taste! Overall I would go back, wine was good, bar area was nice, nice setting.
10/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
The reason to go to Alison Eighteen is to experience Chef Spruance's food. Everything we tasted showed her culinary background from WD-50 and Blue Hill at Stone Barns. The ingredients were remarkable and the execution inventive and delicious. This is a Chef to follow.

Tasting Menu at Alison 18
We really enjoyed the 5 course tasting menu at the restaurant. We had the best scallops we'd ever eaten as well as other great food. The atmosphere is very refined, very tasteful. The service was superb. The wine list was well chosen with a very fair price range which is hard to find these days. Can't wait to return. B &F Brewer

Particularly love the front
Particularly love the front cafe/bar area of the restaurant. Menu has good variety and every offering seems to have a unique twist or ingredient that makes it stand ou. Great wines by the glass. Helpful attractive staff. I'll be back!
