Acoustic guitar music transported us to some place sexy and South American, while dining on terrific Peruvian cuisine.

This is my third time at Surfish and the food continues to be delicious.
Their ceviche is outstanding. I love the octopus ceviche. The kalamata aioli and leche de tigre rocoto goes well with the octopus. My friend had the mixto ceviche and it looked delicious too. Their salads are huge portions and very fresh. At this visit I had
the Mahi-Mahi taquitos -- a tapas for my main meal. Medallions of fried mahi-mahi topped with a tomato salsa and guacamole on small soft corn tortilla. The presentation of all of their dishes is very beautiful and elegant.

Great Peruvian Find!
Our UWS banker , whose mother is Peruvian, recommended this restaurant to my partner (who is from Lima) and me, so we trekked out to Park Slope to give it a try. We showed up around 4pm and there was only one other table of patrons in the nice little garden. The food was absolutely wonderful. We started with soups, chupe, and caldo de choros. For the main courses, we had risotto and adobado, and, once again, the portions were large and the dishes were scrumptious. We gobbled up every bite. Even though we were full, we had to try something for dessert so we shared the chocolate souffle, which was really one of those molten chocolate cakes where the warm chocolate oozes out from the inside. Prices were reasonable. Can't wait to come back!

Great Peruvian food
i love Surfish Bistro I think Peruvian food is the best cuisine in South America and this restaurant captures the upscale gourmet cooking that is the rage in Lima

We had lunch in the back patio sitting in the shade. The whole experience was delightful. Beautiful day, pitcher of sangria, 4 or 5 appetizers--heaven. The food was excellent and inventive.

Nice little find in Brooklyn
We were looking for a restaurant near Green Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn. I'm from NJ, so what do I know about Brooklyn? An Internet search led me to this 5th Avenue location. Good fortune on my part. The restaurant is rather plain and narrow, but the food is great and the wait staff is helpful in explaining the menu options. That's a good thing because I know less about Peruvian food than I know about Brooklyn. It was a beautiful Saturday evening and we dined on the small, delightful patio at the rear of the restaurant. Add some wine and we had a wonderful time. Fortunately we arrived early enough to find a table. By the time we left, the restaurant was packed.

Just moved to the neighborhood and wanted to give this one a try - went on a Tuesday, so it was nice and quiet in the backyard. Food was delicious - we started with tuna tartare and pulled pork sliders with sweet potato puree, which were both fantastic. The sliders were a huge portion so we were already pretty full after that, but we also had some slow roasted pork with yucca and were not disappointed one bit. Reasonably priced wine as well. We will be back soon!

Everything was delicious from the appetizers to dessert. No complaints at all except food took a little long to come and inside seating is a little jammed. Besides that everything else was on point.

The meal was excellent and the prices were very reasonable for the quality that was being offered. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal.

We found Sufish Bistro on the internet and were delighted. We shared tapas for appetizers. The mahi mahi taquitos were outstanding. The entrees were fabulous. There was a guitarist the night we were there which made our experience even more enjoyable.

Great food! Not so great weather.
We came here with my boyfriend's mom who was visiting from the south. We had eaten here before and thought it would be a great local place to take her for her last night here, especially after showing her the episode of Chopped where the chef of the restaurant won. The food was great. And we LOVE the Tincho cocktail. My only issue on this occasion was it was raining outside. The restaurant was trying to utilize their outdoor space (which is lovely), and put us in a spot where we got wet once the rain started up again. The food is always fresh and tasty, but definitely go in nice weather or make sure you sit inside!

Unimpressive exterior hides a gem
Don't be discouraged by the unimpressive façade of this place. I was, and am so glad I gave it a shot! The food is excellent and the outdoor area in the back is perfect for a meal with friends or a romantic dinner.

The food was incredible and beyond what expected. The service was friendly and we didn't feel rushed. The outdoor garden is wonderful. Can't wait to come back!

A remarkable neighborhood find.
The foot, the service, the simplicity of Surfish gives me hope that there are good chefs with a responsible experimental bent in combing foods and styles of varying cultures. We 'll be back.

We've dined here four times this summer and has been our "go-to" for late night dinners outdoors; love the mahi-mahi tacos and carnitas. Wine is reasonably priced too, a blessing in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
8/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
My family and I had dinner here for my daughter's 25th birthday. Her pick and a great choice at that! We will definitely be dining here again. The Salmon Anticuchos where my favorite! A gem in Brooklyn! Buen Provecho!

Still Love IT!!!!!
I think we have eaten here 5 times in the last 2 months. Wish I could go now....for fish tacos or carnitas...Love it!

Great flavor and portions
Definitely will be back to try the rest of the menu. The place was a lot smaller than I expected. Probably better to request indoor or outdoor when making the reservation. Order anything from the ceviche menu and you will not be disappointed. This place may not be that accessible or a trek from all the other hot spots NYC has to offer, but it truly is worth the trip. Great prices top it off.

This was my first experience with Peruvian food and Surfish Bistro piqued my future curiosity. The restaurant is a small, intimate and well-decorated with an inviting welcome sign outside that says: "Interesting Food is Served Here." My wife and I shared a mussels appetizer which was perfectly seasoned. She chose the stir-fried steak dinner and I, the lamb shank special. Both were delicious-my lamb just "oozed from the bone." We finished with profiteroles served in a marvelous creme sauce which only further complemented a wonderful dinner. I will return.

Really enjoyed our (2 people)
Really enjoyed our (2 people) time there - Thursday night there was 3 piece band playing music, which really added to the ambience of this small space - while not being too loud it did prevent you from hearing everything said at the next table.
We order primarily from the tapas menu to share although we did have a seafood soup that was huge and delicious. We had the crispy oysters, the strip steak and the tamale with a shrimp sauce - Everything was great.
The service was quick and attentive. All and all a nice night out.

Above and beyond
I was hosting a guest from out of town and I wanted to experience a different gift of Brookyln-it's international cuisine. The Peruvian dishes of Surfish are impressive from start to finish.
The ambiance is quaint. A great and welcome contrast to some of the large, high capacity choices of City life.
Begin with a full list of cerviche choices, any one of which is equally satisfying. My colleague was impressed. I chose the mussels to start. The only thing missing was some bread with which to sop the delicious broth.
For a entree, I chose the Adobado. The pork was so tender and be yucca was a hearty and delightful compliment. Seasoned just right.
Apple crisp for dessert. A perfect choice on a late autumn night

Excellent list of appetizers: We had two sets of ceviche samplers which were delicious. The chicharron sliders, tamales with shrimp and tamales verdes were wonderful too. The Cuzqueña beer was great.
