Best meal in Phoenix so far
First visit: Wow. Best meal in Phoenix so far. Small plates for sharing venue, little difficult to figure how much is enough, but server helped. Small cold plates very good, sashimi was great, hot plates got better and better. Clams were good, but had to ask for dipping bread. Curry Lamb Chops were out of this world. Foie Gras was exceptional. A lovely antique home (Teeter House) housed Nobu, intimate and good noise level. Parking was the only drawback. Either get into the small valet nearby or park in the $12 garage parking a little ways down the street.
We will be back.

Historic house with restaurant gem
Dining in Nobuo at Teeter House was a real treat. Very few historical buildings remain in Phoenix so the ambiance of eating in a 1880's era house was special. The food was very good and fit for foodies. The dining format was small plates for sharing. The restaurant was within walking distance of the Herberger theater and was the highlight of our evening.

Cool Sunday Eats
The experience was very good. We were the only diners there as it was early (11AM) which we usually don't like but a actually enjoyed. The food was delicious, as usual, and served at a leisurely pace just the way we prefer it.

Without a doubt currently
Without a doubt currently the best restaurant in Phoenix. Inventive and consistently tasty cuisine.

Both food and presentation
Both food and presentation very unique, but server was very helpful in explaining choices.
Although all 4 of us are wine drinkers, we opted not to order wine because the selections on the wine list were too unfamiliar; the 2 men opted for beer. We all loved the food and the experience, but I would not choose to go there on a regular basis.

My sister and I shared many of the amazing items on the menu. It was a feast fit for royalty. All of the things we tried were amazingly balanced in unexpected flavors (citrus, curry salt, fresh mango, creamy avocado, etc..) We loved it all! My favorite were the New Zealand lamb chops. No! My favorite were the oysters. Changed my mind! The duck egg, asparagus, and tender beef were the best. Okay! For real now! The Fois Gras was like dessert. It was buttery, rich, almost sweet! Yum! Dinner was a memorable experience that I can't compare to any other I've had, not in London, New York, Los Angeles, not anywhere! I was impressed and you will be too!

D E L I S H !
Nobu delivered. The chef even delivered some of the dishes and answered questions. The food was absolutely delish. Tried some new things and that is always good. The Squash blossoms, Soft shell crab salad, Fried soft shell shrimp and the mouth watering Yellow tail ceviche were the highlights of our visit. Oh soooo good !
My next visit to Phoenix will most definitely include another Tetter house visit. The four of us enjoyed this dining experience very much indeed.

Great dining experience
We had a fantastic dining experience. All dishes, japanese style tapas sized, were finely prepared. A bit disappointing to not see any side dishes on the menu to go along with the entrees dishes. I am not so into eating fish and meat plates without sides. Some japanese rice would have been nice. And I would have had another cocktail... A place to go to experience great food, but don't go there for the sake of your wallet if you're starving.

Great place, great food , loved the small plates and sharing with the table

Took the wife for her birthday. We are both pretty picky when it comes to food especially sushi and this place was incredible. It is not really a typical sushi place but instead focuses on small servings with a complex, well crafted mix of flavors. We pretty much only got dishes featuring raw fish but their cooked dishes look great as well. The oyster served with uni and the yellowtail and grapefruit are phenomenol and may be the best sushi I will ever have. This place is pricey but well worth the cost.

This restaurant is located in an early 20th century home in Heritage Park Square. The food was amazingly delicious.

I love this place!
Every time I visit Nobuo I kick myself for not eating there more often. I always have an amazing meal. This time was no exception. In fact, the meal rivaled my all-time-favorite meal (which was at Chez Panisse). The food is always imaginative and creative, but more important, it's always delicious. Each menu item is like a tasty treasure. Add in beautiful presentation and terrific service, and you have a meal to remember. I can't say enough good about this restaurant. One more thing--remember they are open for lunch. It's a relatively inexpensive way to dip your toe into the deliciousness that is Nobuo.

One of the best chefs in the valley
He is a wonderful and innovative chef and the food is superb. It is a treat to dine at Nobu's restaurant.
5/20/2013 4:00:00 PM
Worth the effort
There are only three cozy rooms including the entry.
Not easy to get into this small gem. Best way is just look ahead on Open Table several days and choose a time.
Reservations are definitely required, but well worth it.

Not your usual Japanese restaurant
I was expecting a typical Japanese restaurant, but the offerings here greatly surpassed anything I had before. The next time I stay in Phoenix, I would love to return here to try more!
5/24/2013 4:00:00 PM
A unique small plate dining experience. Incredible food and service in a historic house. Nothing like it anywhere in the Valley.

Fantastic Dining Experience!
Nobuo at Teeter House was recommended by a friend for fantastic Japanese food and my out-of-town guests were thrilled with the choice. The food was beautiful AND delicious, and our waiter was exceptional (personal, pleasant, attentive and helpful with patient explanations about menu items and great advice about how to order and share dishes with a group. Every dish became an instant favorite! It is my new favorite restaurant and I will be returning frequently.

Best Japanese in the Valley
Nobuo-san has done it again! His new place at Teeter House is just as good as Sea-Saw, but in a (somewhat) larger location so more people can be thrilled! Loved it loved it loved it! After making your reservation here on OpenTable, call the restaurant to request the tasting menu. This will ensure you get the absolute best of everything Nobuo-san has that day.
6/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nobuo deserves all the accolades it receives. The food is creative yet tasty, and the presentation is equally creative. Service is attentive but not freaky. If you haven't tried Nobuo before, it's great to try at lunch. Not crowded, relaxed, and good for conversation. Try the okonimiyaki (I may not have spelled that right)--it's incredibly delicious, and you won't find it anywhere else in Phoenix.

chef nobuo is one of a kind!
We enjoyed everything on this visit to the restaurant and really appreciate the attention to detail from the staff and chef minions!!
6/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was great and interesting...different combinations of tastes, which is always fun. Server seemed new/inexperienced and stumbled on some of our questions but no real big deal...that's why we ranked service a bit lower. Would definitely come back and recommend!
6/28/2013 4:00:00 PM
My girlfriend and I took a friend there. It was his first time and even though he likes big quantities of food, he left satisfied. Everything was good and a lot was exceptional! Again, a great meal.....
7/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
simply the best
Nobuo has the most refined and sophisticated cuisine in Phoenix-metro.
7/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Exquisite dining experience!
Chef Nobu is fantastic! Japanese cuisin at a whole other level, higher level to be precise. This is refine dinning and not typical American Sushi eats. Enjoy, every item is hand-crafted and delicious!

Joined colleagues for lunch which made for a quiet room. Food was wonderful. Be ready to dig deep into the wallet. I can't wait to try dinner which I know is a totally different experience.

Best meal I've ever had!!
Best meal I've ever had!! Came wanting sushi and almost left when we found out there was none but so glad we stayed! This is a tapas restaurant so you will need 2-3 dishes per person and it can add up $ wise but soooo worth it. Can't wait to go back!
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
A fabulous dinner experience. Each dish was an adventure and delightful. Highly recommended!!

A must when visiting Phoenix
Nobu absolutely lived up to my expectations. Delicately prepared dishes especially the sea bass in parchment. Can't wait to return.

Lived up to the hype!
For over a year I had been reading reviews and wanting to try Nubou. Although it was worth the wait, I don't recommend doing the same...make your reservations today!!

Creative, spectacular food
A bit hard to find but worth it. Nice ambiance and a very creative, primarily seafood menu. Even the salds were different and great. It is now on our Top 5 list for all of Phoenix.
9/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
I love this restaurant. The food is terrific--among the very best in Phoenix. The service is typically terrific too, but on this visit it was a bit off. Our waitress seemed tired or just out of it, and she did not know basics, like what kinds of iced tea they had. I knew more than she did about the menu. But the food is so amazing, that I'll put up with slightly off service now and then.

What A Gem!
My husband and wanted a unique, quiet place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had heard about Nobuo through friends and thought we'd give it a try. We were impressed by pretty much everything they had to offer. The food was superb and the way the food was plated made us feel like Iron Chef judges! Fantastic food and the setting is so relaxing. Dine at Nobou at least once. You won't regret it.

Friendly Hipster Staff
This was our first successful outing in the Phoenix area. The food was amazing. At times, the flavors played more to my intellectual side as I tried to figure out what made the dish so interesting. Even the dishes I did not particularly care for (which my girlfriend loved) tasted interesting and made me stop to think whether or not I enjoyed the dish. I am a really fussy eater so I have a very particular palette. The stars of the evening were the squash blossoms that I still wanted to eat at the end of the meal (they were the first dish brought out), and the beed short ribs. I could not have been more pleased.

Nobuo at Teeter House
Nobuo is worth a visit for the imaginative menu and excellent preparation. The food is delicious, innovatively conceived, and presented beautifully. It's expensive for tapas style, but I was happy to pay the bill given the culinary experience.
The venue isn't quite up to the cuisine, but it's a charming historic home. The downtown location will keep some people from trying it unfortunately. Service is reasonably competent and timely, but not exceptionally professional given a chef of this caliber. The underlying waitstaff theme seems to be "art students doing the bourgeoisie a favor", but not in an overtly malicious way.
This is a place that's good for foodies, a date night adventure, and the tragically hip.

Nobuo for Restaurant Week
Sweet, charming Japanese joint that always, always delights.

Nobuo FOOD FABULOUS!
Loved the food - unique, presentation was terrific.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is the second time my DH and I have dined at Nobou at Teeter House. Like the first time we ate there, we tried items that we never would have considered, and they surprisingly yummy. However, we did not realize that it was PHX Restaurant Week, so the choices were very limited. I personally do not eat red meat, nor do I eat raw fish, so I was forced to go with vegetarian Bento box option. There was only one item on the "select items" from their menu that was of interest, so we ordered it as well.
One of the beauties of Nobou being a tapa restaurant is that if you're still hungry, you can order more, but again, we didn't really have that option with the incredibly limited menu.

Lovely place with wonderful food
This is one of the best restaurants in Phoenix. We tried many items on the menu and all were excellent including the cocktails. Highly recommended and a great location is the cute Heritage Square.

Off the beaten path
Nobuo is set inside an old house, called Teeter. The dining area is comprised of the two livinv areas on the first floor. What really gives this place its higher rating is the food - very specific and pointed, yet creative and tasty. Very rare to find a place like this anymore. Very personal, and attentive to detail. We enjoyed the meal, and the reasonable pricing. Try the house made teas.
10/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nobuo was terrific in every way. The service was terrific and the food was even better. Each item was served in spoons "tapas style" for easy sharing and everything tasted fabulous. this was our first time but we'll certainly return.

Inventive, delicious, approachable
A thoroughly enjoyable meal. The ambiance--in an 1898 bungalow in downtown Phoenix--was perfect. The warm and historic home, with its several rooms with 4-8 tables each, afforded a homey and quiet environment in which to enjoy the innovative, delicious dishes, made with quality ingredients. The service was pleasant and attentive. Overall, somewhere to return to savor the other menu items.

Fabulous and interesting food
Fabulous and interesting food selections. Try the coconut curry lamb, it's devine! Very servicable wine list. The Copian Pinot Noir was delicious. Our server Mo was perfect!!

When each dish came out we kept saying this is our favorite. kimchi was amazing, duck, cod, heck everything. We will be back. Highly recommended.

Nobuo at Teeter House
Excellent and unusual Japanese food. Try the Japanese eggplant and the short ribs. We also had the warm duck salad which was superb! The seabass in parchment was perfect for two people. The small plates serve two. We had three each and shared two desserts. Just enough food. Everything is beautifully presented! Wish I hadn't waited so long to try this wonderful chef's cooking.
