They know how to do rare and the sauces were fun to try. I don't know that I would go for a date, but it was fun for a company dinner.

Burgers and Steak? Yes, please!
A great lunch on the 4th of July. Service was great, food was great as usual and the half-price wine sale was a treat! We usually get steaks which are always cooked perfectly. This time we opted for the burgers, also cooked to perfect temperature. I always recommend Lark Creek to anyone looking for a great lunch in Downtown SF.

Don't Miss Half-Price Wine Month
Great dinner at Lark Creek Steak. Summer is a great time to go. The corn chowder was really great. For entrees we had the NY Steak and the bacon-wrapped chicken. July is half price wine month so that is an extra reason to go to Lark Creek Steak now. Our only complaint is that we wish the menu had hash browns or lyonnaise potatoes (or the potato latkes that used to be on the menu).

Welcome atmosphere, fast service, and most important of all, the food was delicious.

Very expensive, but the food, service, and ambiance may justify the price.

Still the Best Steak in Town!
Had another amazing meal at Lark Creek Steak -- start with the wedge salad, we shared the porterhouse for two -- a perfect medium rare -- smokey, charred amazingness -- melts in your mouth. For sides, we chose whipped potatoes, creamed spinach, and the corn succotash -- all were perfect complements. Finished with the butterscotch pudding. Accompanied with a Rafanelli Cab; and served by one of the best servers we've experienced in all of San Francisco, Jeff, dinner was perfection!
7/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
The restaurant is expensive. I would like to see a lower priced menu. The quality is good but prices too high. They also need better bread

Lark Creek is a nice surprise!
Lark Creek offers very good food and great service...you may be surprised. The restaurant is located within the shopping mall but it is far from 'mall food'.
The menu is suitably diverse and the food tastes great. we had a New York steak and salmon. Each was cooked precisely and presented with flair.
The service was attentive without being bothersome.
Try it...you may be as pleased as we were.
7/23/2013 5:00:00 PM
The olive oil braised octopus was incredible; the best ever.
7/25/2013 5:00:00 PM
spur of the moment Sat date night
The Amuse Bouche was a nice surprise...
The 50% of bottles of wine monthly special was great as well.
We came here looking for a nice steak dinner and were pleasantly surprised. The portions were not that large, but just right if you did the whole nine yards of apps, salads, and main.
For a restaurant "in a mall" it went above and beyond, not too stuffy of an atmosphere for the price point that you'll pay.

Great Dinner at Lark Creek Steak
It is great to be able to do a little shopping and then have a great meal at Lark Creek Steak. This time of year the soups -- corn chowder with bacon and tomato with basil -- are fabulous. The steaks are always good, as is the bacon-wrapped chicken. The sauteed mushrooms and corn succotash were both excellent. Our only regret is that there isn't more variety in the potato sides that Lark Creek Steak offers. They have a baked potato or thick cut fries, but no hash browns, lyonnaise potatoes or shoe string fries. The restaurant used to serve a delicious potato pancake side, but alas this is gone. We hope it will be back.

We had a very friendly and accommodating waiter who gave us timely and thoughtful service and menu advice.

One of the best burgers I've ever had & service was top notch as well...I would highly recommend LarkCreekSteak for a business lunch or a special night out.

I had a promo at this restaurant
I had a promo at this restaurant where I received one free entree with the purchase of an entree. The food was great. My only issue is that gratuity was included on the bill for a party of 2 and the server did not mention that when he gave us the bill.

Late night dinner
Excellent place to have a nice Cab and a great steak! Easy location in the SF Center and accessible by BART

A Great DIning Experience
Wanting a good steak house close to my hotel-the Marriott Marquis on Fourth, the concierge recommended Lark Creek Steak Under the Dome -4th floor- of the Westfield San Francisco Center on Market -at the cable car turn-table. Even though this was a Sunday evening, there was a pleasant crowd and the service was stellar. I enjoyed a delightful tomato bisque as an appetizer and the Sunday evening Prime Rib - excellent piece of meet along with smooth and delicious mashed potatoes with fried onion garnish. And a pop-over which was well done - light and fluffy. Au Jus and horseradish sauce were a nice touch. Enjoyed a great cup of coffee - an individual French Press serving. Don't overlook this gem on Market St. at Geary.

Lark Creek Steak is YUMMY!
We went to Lark Creek for our anniversary because I wanted to get steak for my husband, and see a movie after. We had a fabulous time! I have food allergies (i.e., difficult customer) and our waiter was very helpful and accommodating. I wish I could do 4 1/2 stars! My husband rated his steak a 4 - solid, delicious, but not amazing for the price. However, the sides, salad, and oysters we ordered were excellent - truly a 5!! Perhaps the best mashed/whipped potatoes I have ever eaten. I would have given it a 5 overall if were based on those things alone, but, alas, it IS a steak place.
Also, the bar drinks were yummy.

Excellent dining experience.
Great food, great service. Not only was this one of the best steaks I've had in awhile, the cheesecake was hands-down, the best I've ever had.

Humming while i EAT
The food was very good I had the pork chop with cream spinach. I also had the biscuits the spread that came with them were incredible, and for desert the butterscotch pudding. The wait staff was top notch as well. I enjoy the food so much I went back the next day for lunch the menu is different but great selection to choose from. Bacon wrap chicken wrap is the business!
9/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Coming Back Soon!
I was there for a business meeting. Started with the little gem salad with creamy blue cheese, bacon and egg. Delicious. The Prime rib eye was the best steak in ages. Cooked perfectly medium rare, nice and smoky flavor from wood grilling that you can watch from the dining room. They offer a variety of tasty sauces although the meat was so good by itself. Mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, fries with béarnaise and fried green tomatoes to share. Luscious butterscotch pudding. Our server knew everything about the menu. Nice décor and ambiance. Coming back soon!

Dining at its Finest
We go to San Francisco every year, (just got back from a second week this year!) and we make a point of going to Lark Creek every time we visit.
The restaurant is located in the Westfield Centre on Market and it is just such a gem. The food is incredible and the service is impeccable. Our waiter was there at the exact moment we needed anything at all, and the food was superb.
If you have a special occasion, or even just for dessert and coffee, make a point of having the creme brulee dessert. It is just the right size for sharing, and there is a coconut macaroon that is perfect. We had this dessert with our dinner at New Year's Eve of 2012 and I couldn't wait to go again so I could have it a second time!
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Don't worry about this being in a shopping center, it is a very nice setting and feeling, easy to talk to my guests. Food was excellent, awesome fresh items like the corn soup, would definitely return. Our waiter Tom, was very good checking at the right intervals for our last guest to arrive and assessing our needs.

Nice cap for our vacation
We visited Lark Creek Steak on the final evening of a trip to San Francisco. Overall, the good was very good and the service was superb. We started with the corn chowder which had wonderful flavor and the presentation was very nicely done. I had the filet, but didn't care for the blue cheese sauce that I opted for. My spouse had the grass-fed NY with the signature steak sauce (a much better choice). The steaks were cooked exactly as we ordered and were both very good. We were somewhat underwhelmed by the whipped potatoes we ordered as a side.
10/2/2013 5:00:00 PM
Best steak in San Francisco!
Our ribeye steak was cooked perfectly and the flavor of the meat was allowed to shine. This is without a doubt the best steak we have had in San Francisco!
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
great experience, very attentive
great experience, very attentive to toddler in our party
10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was our first experience at Lark Creek Steak. It exceeded our expectations. We've dined at four of the Lark Creek establishments in the Bay area, and never had a bad experience. On this night my wife and I both had filets, which were cooked perfectly. Sides were tasty. Caesar salad and mushroom soup were terrific, too. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive.
I was a little leery of what the atmosphere would be like, since the restaurant is in the Westfield mall on Market St. But, it's located on the top floor, and is segregated from the foot traffic. We had a wonderful experience celebrating our 35th anniversary. BTW, there were patrons of all ages dining this night, not just old fogies like us.

A brilliant meal.
I regularly go to Lark Creek. Basically, any time I find myself in SF I make sure I make reservations. And most of the time I enjoy sitting at the "chef's counter" and watch the kitchen bang out amazing meals. A great way to learn about cooking, if you're interested.
This particular evening I got a normal table and enjoyed a great dinner with my girlfriend that started with an amazing squash soup. Just brilliant. I really could go on and on but you simply must go.

Downtown SF gem
Don't be afraid to eat at a mall restaurant. It's really a hidden gem for ambience and really good food.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
We love Lark Creek. Whether for date night or at the end of a shopping trip, we always enjoy this place. The steak is beyond fantastic. The ambience is gorgeous. And the service is always top notch.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great steak, not so great desserts
Great wood smoke flavor on the steaks. porterhouse is superb. Sides are quite good. Soup, delicious!
Desserts though are a disappointment. I had a meringue tart whose crust was like a rock. No one at my table really loved the dessert, although the butterscotch pudding was quite good. It's a shame, years ago this place had excellent chocolate soufflé.
10/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Always a Smart Choice
With some of the best steaks anywhere, well-trained staff and comfortable surroundings, only a vegetarian could hate Lark Creek Steak. Oh but wait! They have vegetarian entre's too. Don't let the location fool you: this is a four-star steakhouse that just happens to reside in a mall.
10/31/2013 5:00:00 PM
Upscale steak house
This restaurant is conveniently situated in down town San Francisco. It is located on the top floor of the Westfield Mall, a stones throw from the Marriott Marquis, the Four Seasons hotel and the Moscone Convention Center. The facility is well appointed and laid out. The seating is comfortable and even if the restaurant is busy, you don't feel as if you are crammed in. As for the food, this is a steak house. There are many interesting appetizer options but little else other than beef, various cuts and ranging in price from $25 for a burger to $100 for Kobe steak. The vegetables are served as side dishes, priced at $8-10. So, the bottom line: a nice steak house with lots of ambiance and a phenomenal wine list.

Wonderful post-movie restaurant
We shared the evening with friends and all enjoyed their dinner, wine, and dessert. Our waiter was great and the food was served perfectly. It was crowded so it was noisy, which is to be expected. We especially enjoyed the gingerbread cookie dessert which came with all the decorations for do-it-yourselfers.

Office dinner in the City
This is one of the restaurants "Under the Dome" in the Westfield Shopping Center on Market street in SF. I've eaten here before but only for lunch. We had fourteen people so we sat at two tables. Several people had the Prix Fixe dinner and loved it. The steaks were great! They blackened our friends fish at his request. They even had a child's menu for the child. It did take awhile to get our food. The only negative was the male host at the door. He insisted that our whole party had to be present before he seated us so we stood around waiting for the last five people to show up. He finally sat the table of six then kept us waiting for the other two people. I finally asked, after waiting 30 minutes if we could be seated to have drinks? We did
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
We have eaten at Lark Creek before but this particular meal was outstanding. My husband ordered the Fixed Price dinner and pot roast but the dessert was his joy. Having REAL butterscotch pudding was an incredible treat. As for myself, I went exotic with the olive oil octopus starter and then the Bay scallops for my entrée. The scallops were tender and succulent and melted in my mouth. But it was David, our server, who made the evening. He treated us with such care and enthusiasm that we couldn't help but enjoy the meal. If you go on a Saturday evening, be sure and ask for his table.

What a surprise
Once we were seated, the ambience took over. The service was great and the food was outstanding. My wife and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary by visiting the city of San Francisco and were staying in the Fisherman's Wharf area, after a few days we began to crave a little red meat for our actual anniversary date. We searched for a casual, comfortably price place and this is where we choose to try out. We are so pleased that we did, we both had ordered the petite filet, which was cooked perfectly, the sides also complimented well with the steak, whipped potatoes and roasted brussel sprouts. The signature desert, Butterscotch Pudding, was absolutely to die for. After 5 mins, we forgot we were in a mall

Lark Creek Steak has become a tradition whenever we come up for a theatre matinee. We stay just off Union Square and then walk to the restaurant be it the Curran, Orpheum or Golden Gate. Shopping is never the goal. It is Lark Creek Steak where they really know what to do with meat and the service is so good: friendly without being obsequious. I have fallen into the habit of getting their steak salad while my husband says their hamburger is super as is the chicken salad. One of these days we are going to have dinner there. The atmosphere is very nice given that there is no view. For dessert try their butterscotch pudding. Yummy!

A Gem in a Shopping Mall
Went to Lark Creek Steak for lunch with a gal friend to celebrate our milestone birthdays. Had reservations, and were seated promptly. The restaurant was crowded, even though it was mid-week in November, so the service could have been a bit more attentive. However, we both opted for the Caesar Salad, one with tuna added the other NY steak. Both salads were excellent, and not over-priced. Noise level was wonderful, considering how crowded it was, no problem visiting and hearing ourselves! I will definitely go back again.

Good steak in the mall
This is a great steak place oddly in a mall setting. We enjoyed the prime rib (Monday night's) and the grass fed steak was nice but a little firm for my liking. Overall great food and pretty good service.

Great food and service
We enjoyed excellent service and outstanding food. A wonderful visit with a friend from Israel as well as friends and family fromthe Bay area.

Birthday dinner for my husband. Offered coat check for packages and seated immediately though we were a little early. Food delivery was paced well. Service was timely and unobtrusive. Chef sent out a pork bite which was nice. Each had salad. Field green lettuces crisp, well-proportioned and dressing applied well. (I hate pockets of overpowering dressing.) Husband had a steak med rare and I had the bacon-wrapped chicken breast. I didn't know chicken could taste THIS delicious. Bacon was perfect thickness, did not over-power. Chicken was moist and tasty. Was served sliced as medallions over parsnip puree. Presentation w/ broccolini and baked parsnip strips appealing. Complimentary birthday dessert with candle very nice touch. Delightful!

Great steaks but needs better sides
The steaks at Lark Creek Steak are great. We like them better than Ruth's Chris or Morton's. The bacon-wrapped chicken is also very good. Where Lark Creek Steak falls down is on its sides. There are no hash browns, Lyonnaise potatoes or the like. Lark Creek Steak used to delicious potato pancakes but they were taken off the menu several years ago. We hope Lark Creek will expand its side dishes so we no longer have to choose between great steaks and great sides.

Great meal, convenient location
We were looking for a quick, quality dinner on our way to the Auto show at Moscone Center. We stumbled onto Lark Creek and were pleasantly surprised with a beautiful dining room, friendly service and really good quality food. I had an octopus appetizer that was fantastic! I'd recommend this spot to anyone that was willing to spend a few bucks for a great meal.

Nice Thanksgiving Dinner
We had Thanksgiving dinner here with another couple. There was a special Thanksgiving menu with four options. We all chose a beet salad to start. Very good, fresh, with a light vinaigrette. Three of us had turkey with cornbread dressing, cranberry sauce and Brussels sprouts. The turkey was incredibly moist and tasty, and as someone who lives in the south I was impressed by the dressing. The whole plate was delicious and the portions were enormous. I wasn't able to finish mine. One friend had the prime rib, also huge. He said it was delicious. Caramel pecan tarts and a pastry wrapped baked pear for dessert were equally satisfying. The restaurant itself is nice, though located in a mall. Service was good, unremarkable.

Thanksgiving lunch menu
Even my 5 years old niece enjoyed the food! Turkey, steak and desserts were all delicious!

Thanksgiving home away from home
The special Thanksgiving menu looked wonderful and tasted as good as it sounded. The server was utterly appropriate: a mixture of personable, down to earth and the right degree of familiar. The portions for the main courses ( roast turkey, prime rib, ahi tuna) were Thanksgiving appropriate. The atmosphere was totally comfortable and we could each hear each other. Our only concern was that the wine list was quite pricey. But we had a terrific Thanksgiving experience and look forward to another Lark Creek Steak experience.

Our server, Jefferson, was delightful; funny, charming and just attentive enough. His presence made our experience at Lark Creek Steak memorable. The steak burger was delicious, too!
