Great food in an unassuming
Great food in an unassuming locale. Highly recommend for a low-key, delicious dinner if you are a resident of the LES. Prices aren't low but the food is certainly worth it!

Will definitely go back.
Been for dinner and brunch. Love the food and drinks but the service is slow, slow, slow. The reuben sandwich alone is worth the trip.

Had a great time
Excellent spot. Very tight dining floor once the space fills up, yet an awesome ambiance remains from the great service, cocktails and food. Will continue the trip from Harlem to dine here more often.

Zoe is a definite neighborhood
Zoe is a definite neighborhood gem. Inventive brunch menu and sunny vibe. I want to try everything on the menu especially the fried chicken with blueberry pancakes special.

Intimate Weeknight Setting
My fiancée and I came here to celebrate our engagement. It was during the middle of the week, so the atmosphere was quiet and intimate, perfect for just the two of us, unlike weekends when I'm told the place is buzzing with activity. The Brussels Sprouts live up to their name. The coffee was a great way to end before our drive home.
Making the reservation via Open Table was a piece of cake, despite needing to modify the reservation a few times.
All in all, a great experience.

A gem in the Lower East Side
I was very impressed by my dinner there on Saturday night. The wait staff was very attentive. The octopus was delicious! I had the dorade, a whole fish perfectly cooked with a side of brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts is a must to order! We fought over who would eat the last piece. In all I would absolutely recommend this restaurant because it is a gem.

To life and novelty
To find that people are still bringing wonderful, creative new ideas to food is the novelty I look for in food --not the splash and dash, but the intelligence and style.

Innovative, Comfort Cuisine
I've enjoyed Zoe's legendary brunch before, but this was my first time doing dinner here. Equally fantastic! Had mouth-watering pork that tasted like sophisticated "carnitas" with collard greens, but I was even more impressed by the octopus escabeche with its incredible balance of moist, ever-so-gently yielding flesh. How did she get that texture so right on an ingredient that so often turns into a rubbery mess by others? I'd also recommend the lemon posset for dessert. It was a refreshing, chilled summer pie with a cotton candy soft graham cracker crust and just the right level of sweetness so as to make it dessert but not fight the delicious citrus bite of lemon. I'm always impressed with Zoe's food!

L.E.S. undiscovered treasure
My wife took me there for my birthday. We were both delighted with our meals and were especially blown away by the fried oysters, plump and crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. Perfect.
My wife had salmon and I had pork steak. Both were delicious.
Even though we went on a Saturday night the restaurant wasn't very crowded. We were left wondering why it wasn't busier but figured it must be it's off the beaten path location. We would recommend it to anyone and will be back soon.

Good food and drinks, small space
Came for Sunday Brunch, food was delicious and came out very quickly! There's a long list of brunch drinks including (non-alcoholic) Bloody Mary's! Service lacked a little bit, but may be due to a small space with all tables full.

Interesting food combinations
read previous reviews and ordered the recommended dishes:
Brussel sprouts - good, tasty, would benefit from some carmelization.
Fried Oysters - a little too much breading
Crab Cake - should have more of a crab taste, but very litle filling ( a really good thing!).
Really enjoyed the rhubarb shortcake and the lemon tart with the graham cracker crust.
All in all, enjoyed the experience and will return. Nice that it is so close to the cinema.
PS. Try the Tilda Swinton cocktail. Delicious!

A Little Gem
This is a small restaurant that manages to be relaxed and elegant at the same time. Plus, the food is imaginative, varied and really delicious. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable about the food and the wine, and the chef is so talented. Her brussel sprouts are crispy with just a tiny bit of sweetness. They'd convert even brussel sprout haters. The kale salad is heaven, and the lamb twp ways is varied and satisfying, even though it's only an appetizer. (In fact, sharing three or four appetizers instead of two main dishes is sometimes a fun way to go.) It's on the Lower East Side, and even if it's not in your neighborhood, it's worth the trip and will become one of your favorites.

An amazing food & drink experience
It's been a long time since I had a truly amazing meal in NYC... this place was phenomenal! I waited for my friend at the bar for a bit and Anthony (bartender) was lovely... testing his talents with a new Guatemalan rum drink I requested. The staff was all very friendly making me feel quite comfortable as I waited for my friend. Once I got to the dinner, we shared an octopus appetizer and then I ordered the pork steak with grilled peaches. The pork was devine and the peaches simply perfect. We finished with a delicious baked alaska. I plan to become a regular here as not only is the food exciting but the staff is remarkable. What a great addition to the NYC food scene.

I dined at Zoe with a friend two nights ago. The food was fantastic and innovative. I had the most incredible desert (Baked Alaska). The appetizers were innovative, fresh and well presented. There cocktails were fun and well prepared.
The owner, Zoe, came out to talk to us after our dinner. It felt really great to be treated so well in a beautiful local restaurant.
Try it....you will like it!!

Wonderful Dining Experince
Very friendly, helpful staff are an added plus to this small "just-off-the-main-drag" gem. The food is varied and different enough to make us want to come back and try something different. Bar service was a tad slow but everything else about our experience there was great.

More to see...
I went for brunch and the vibe was relaxed and friendly. We all enjoyed our meals: grilled shrimp and grits with sunny eggs, cheese, chipotle honey, bacon (large serving of grits, 3 shrimp, perfectly made sunnyside eggs), fried chicken biscuit with savory orange rosemary marmalade (the skin was perfectly crisped and the marmalade added a touch of sweet to the savory of the chicken) and I had the Black Kale Nicoise (the Kale was cooked just right).
We finished our meal and the turn-over of tables was such that they didn't rush us (3 of us) out.
We agreed that we wanted to come back and taste more of the menu over the next few months.

Quaint little charmer
I've been to Zoe twice and have loved it each time. It's a small venue nestled away in a corner of LES. I don't think I've ever met such sincerely friendly and attentive servers in NYC. The food and cocktails are up to snuff, with portions that may look modest but are actually v. filling. The crispy Brussels Sprouts are by far my favorite item on the menu, and I also loved the Tilda Swinton(sp?) cocktail. We also tried the fried artichoke hearts (slightly over-seasoned in some bits, but still tasty), the lamb ribs (delish but small), and the oysters (the garnishes: amazing). An extra plus? It's not super crowded, so getting a reservation even on a weekend is not too much of a challenge.
