Oishii is some of the best sushi I've ever had. Extremely fresh and masterfully prepared. As a bonus, they are very accommodating to those with food allergies - they even prepared tempura so that it was gluten free for me! Definitely worth the price.

almost every single dish is sooo delicious, and the sashimi is outstanding. As for maki, go for the truffle o-toro. The coconut sphere is amazing... just don't be intimidated by the gigantic size...Definitely a must-go place in Boston.

The chef/owner came over & checked on us! Love when that happens. Amazing sushi.

Best service and food
Food and service, and consideration to the guest were great. I reserved a table for my family(husband and 3 year old daughter) on Father's Day. I wondered if my daughter could sit all the time but I didn't have to worry it. Because they kept on serving complimentary food for my daughter (even desert) and they should know what children want. My husband loves sashimi and sushi and I do not. Both of us were thrilled with our orders and this restaurant serves a full range of Japanese food at an exemplary level. Our green tea crepe cake desert can be compared with the one at 'Lady M' in NY. Thank u so much.

Food is really good
No matter what you order there, the food is always so good!
Service was fast and very kind. Lunch menus are a more affordable option.
The quality of the fish is outstanding.
6/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
I highly recommend the Chef's selection of 7 course meal
6/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great cooked dishes
Superb sushi but the cooked dishes are outstanding. Risotto, uni pasta, black cod miso are all amazing. Really attentive to diners' food allergies
6/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
High quality and always fresh
This was my second time at Oishii Boston and I am never disappointed! Oishii has the freshest selection of fish I have had in Boston and everything is good. Whenever I crave toro or squid ink noodles, Oishii is my go to spot. Their desserts are also very appealing to the eyes and taste buds. Overall, excellent dining experience. The only reason why I did not give Oishii Boston 5 stars is because some things are a bit overpriced and the lighting is very dim, making it difficult to really see the person you are dining with across the table.
6/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were delighted with our experience, made even more memorable by our server, Solomon. All elements combined to make an amazing meal and evening!
7/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
We loved the dark cool ambience of Oishi. Try the truffled edamame and go for the chef's choice sushi dinners. We loved eac morsel. The desserts were not worth the effort so end with tea and call it a perfect meal.
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
The sushi at this restaurant was amazing...very fresh! The atmosphere was terrific! We underestimated the travel time to the restaurant from our hotel and ran late, but the staff was wonderful and honored our reservation.
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good sushi with almost Nobu prices
Great place, food was really good for what I have tasted in Boston and almost Nobu level. Prices are almost in parity with Nobu without this being NYC, LA, Vegas or Miami and definitely not the same level in other aspects but not bad for a small city/town like B. Try the cocktails, they do a good job too!
7/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Expensive but good
The lunch special was a good deal but I thought $7 for ONE piece of Sushi/Sashimi is a ridiculous price. It was good but not THAT good.
7/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
my partner and i come here
my partner and i come here for the quality fish. we can pretty much always count on freshness and quality. we have tried a bunch of the hot dishes and appetizers, but continue to come back mainly for the sushi and sashimi. the selection is fairly large and the waiters are generally knowledgeable. the hostesses have always been kind and nice, even when we are running early or late on our reservation. i would highly recommend this Oishii location.

Great sushi on the fancier side
It's hard to find great sushi in Boston, but Oishii delivers. Wait staff is extremely knowledgeable, and the sushi chefs are highly talented and capable. Most importantly, the fish is of an excellent quality. It's expensive (single pieces of nigiri run about $6-10, pairs of sashimi cuts $10-15), but it's worth it if you're looking for a high quality experience.
Try the ankimo!
8/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
Oshii restaurant is a gem. Good services and excellent food. Hot dishes were incredible tasteful. Sushi and sashimi were delicate . Black pork Guioza was probably the best I had ever. Everything served with art and design using multiple plates, colors, and fire. More expensive than it should be, but not that much.
8/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Visiting boston. What a gem! Had tasting menu. Bit pricy but excellent. Courses were generous and very different. We often go with the tasting menu at Japanese restaurants and this one turned out to hang with the beat. You will enjoy the food and atmosphere. Non appetite !
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is not only my favorite restaurant in Boston: it is my favorite restaurant in the whole world. I dine frequently in New York, Paris, London, Vienna, Barcelona and Rome -- Oishii is the best. The food is delectable. Each dish is a whimsical, creative, beautiful and spectacular work of art. The unusual pairings of favors are sequenced to unfold in your mouth -- just incredible. I highly recommend the Omakase -- but you have to have a big appetite! The ambiance is sophisticated and modern -- wonderful music, too. The service is perfect. Each time I have eaten at Oishii, the chef has toured the dining room soliciting comments from customers -- I feel I am in the presence of a genius. I can't thank him enough.
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Creative sushi offerings with unique textural combinations and flavor profiles; Saturday night ambiance was 'date ready'; Chef made the rounds - which is always nice to see; table service was a bit over-attentive, but our server was professional and well-intentioned.
8/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Best Japanese food ever
I love this restaurant, & feel lucky that it's in Boston. The flavors are outstanding and the presentation is elegant.
8/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Expected a bit better.
The food was undobtedly delicious but the music did not fit with the decor and our waitress spoke and acted as if she were in a hurry. For the price the mood and service should be better.
8/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
I brought my girlfriend for her birthday. We split some sushi and I had the pork chop entree as well. The sushi was very good, the pork chop was very good, and we got the spicy tuna app, which was amazing. The waiter was very helpful in helping us make decisions, and was attentive to refilling drinks. Expensive meal, but great for a special occasion.
8/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Possibly the best Japanese ever
The omakase was as good as any I've ever had, including Nobu.
8/17/2013 5:00:00 PM
Creative and delicious!
I have been to many Japanese restaurants and I am impressed that Oishii Boston is able to create Makis and Sashimis that are so yummy and different from others. Great presentation. I had to hurry up and eat the Uni and squid ink pastas before my kids finish them. Will definitely go back!
8/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
I went to Oishii for Restaurant Week, and I'm really looking forward to returning later. My girlfriend had the Kaiseki Lunch (A), and I had the Gyu Kaku Donburi (D). Both dishes were excellent and filling; great for lunch.
8/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had the sushi and sashimi chef's choice special and loved it. The sashimi was actually tastier than the sushi since the fresh fish taste was not obscured by the rice. We were very hungry walking in and so felt like we needed just a little bit more food so we ordered the sashimi bowl (4 slices of sashimi and rice plus a couple of extra tidbits) and the kobe slider appetizers. The sashimi bowl was a great deal at $25 and was also good but the kobe sliders were to die for! I would definitely recommend those to anyone who loves red meat. Last but not least, our server Solomon was excellent. He was there whenever we needed him, readily offering menu recommendations and helped us navigate the sake list in a pleasant and professional manner.

Awesome sushi in Boston
Great sushi variety, very tastefull and original. Sushi with crabe des neiges especially good.
8/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Too bad that the review doesn't
Too bad that the review doesn't have a "Notable Sake List" option, because Oishii certainly had that. If you are into Sake and Sushi, you will not be disappointed.
8/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great sushi. Fish was fresh
Great sushi. Fish was fresh and service quick. This restaurant is worth going to when in Boston.
8/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
a good restaurant
Although it's the first time I went to this restaurant, I think it's one of the best Japanese restaurant I had in Boston. Really recommend the appetizer salmon on fire and the coconut desert. All sushi here are so good and full of chef's special design and taste. I love it!!!
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was our 4th visit to Oishi, and the meal did not disappoint. All the food was exceptionally good...the sushi butter meltingly fresh. With many inventive selections, our favorite remains Salmon on Fire. Drinks and wine list are excellent. The problem this time was the service (the other 3 times our service was excellent). We ordered drinks and appetizers to start. The apps appeared moments later, and the drinks came well after we had finished most of the apps. Then there was a very long wait for our entrees. The service was disorganized and noisy; they disrupted our conversation when delivering and clearing food-at these prices, it should be invisible and impeccable. I will go again, and probably again, the food is that good.
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
cocktails, apps and sushi
great cocktail menu. delicious appetizers and I love that the sushi are pairs with something special (I think it was shredded on seaweed on the yellowtail, but I can't remember the others). It's a great place to go to escape the heat or on a cold/rainy night.
9/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Amazing food and a great experience
We got the 9 course tasting menu and loved it! If you are a sushi lover, it is the place to go.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
I'm so glad we made it a point
I'm so glad we made it a point to try this place while we were in Boston. I ordered maki which ended up being a little out of my comfort zone, but it was very attractive on the plate and all the ingredients were fresh and yummy. The BF got chirashi which was also very fresh and, according to him, delicious. Everything we ordered tasted great and was presented nicely. The staff was polite and attentive, and the atmosphere is modern and good for small groups or couples. I would definitely stop back again, and just know what I'm ordering next time :) I definitly suggest the mango sherbet!
9/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was my third time to Oishii. I love it! It is very expensive so I treat myself once a year but I would love to go more often. The chef is extremely creative with the food and everything is delicious. It is hard to choose what to order. I would recommend going with a few people so you can get a few things to share and try. A great experience that you should do at least once!

food was great waiter was
food was great waiter was horrible described the entrees poorly at best
10/2/2013 5:00:00 PM
Not your typical Japanese/sushi. Everything from Tempura to rolls has a very unique and artistic twist that also delivers superb and unique tastes. The basic quality of the food is absolutely top. Smoked Raw sashimi comes in a smoldering container with burning cherry blossoms underneath, etc. The presentation and beauty of the plates is beyond what we've ever seen. Definitely a unique experience. Portions are quite small and prices are high, but it should be experienced.
10/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was fantastic. The luncheon menu is incredible. The fish was fresh and the umami flavors were correctly balanced. The miso soup was fresh and delicious. We enjoyed the entire experience. The waiter was knowledgable and attentive. Thank you for the experience.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Creative but Expensive
The sushi dishes were very creative but some were ridiculously expensive. Try the Fire Salmon and Kobe Beef roll - two outstanding dishes within the "affordable" price range.

The food was very good and very unique. Not your average Japanese restaurant. The ambiance and the service were very good. I would definitely recommend this place.

The Best Sushi in Boston
The best place you can have great sushi without flying to Japan!

Best Prix Fixe Sushi Lunch in town!
'Nuf said. Beautiful presentation, $20 or $30 (Go for "D" you won't be disappointed). You will be stuffed and happy!
10/23/2013 5:00:00 PM
Dishes that exist nowhere else.....
This is my 2nd time here and the preparation and presentation are outstanding. I wouldn't order many dishes as I felt they were over the top in presentation and less so on taste. But, for some, looks mean a lot more. It's expensive, but then that's what show is about. But, the food is really good. I'll come back.
10/28/2013 5:00:00 PM
Stepped Up Sushi
There was not an item brought to our table that was less than delicious. Careful thought was put into each dish. Truly a treat!
11/4/2013 4:00:00 PM
I brought my wife to Oishii for our 2nd anniversary. I wanted to go to a nice sushi restaurant. Oishii didn't disappoint. We had a lovely dinner. Our server was very helpful with everything.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
I have eaten at Oishii many times, expensive but the value is there.
Best food since Nobu 57 (NYC)

Amazing Japanese outside of Japan!
Outside of dining in Japan, this is one of the best Japanese restaurants I have ever dined at! Although you can certainly order from the menu, I always prefer the omakase menu, which at $150 is money well spent, due to the quality and creativity of the chef's selections! The food is always fresh, and varies depending upon what is in season. For instance, for our meal mid-November, we were fortunate enough to have delectable truffles included in a couple of the courses! This restaurant is a real treat-do NOT miss!
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Oishii is a wonderful restaurant.
Oishii is a wonderful restaurant.
The food is consistently good, and the ambience is relaxing and elegant.
I love this place and recommend it without hesitation.

Unparelleled dining experience
Chef Ting's creations are imaginative, creative, and beautifully presented. His ingredients are always fresh and innovative, the plates look and taste wonderful. Service is attentive, but not overbearing, and the entire ambience is warm and welcoming. Some of the dishes look almost too pristine and beautiful to eat, but one taste and you know there is equal passion and art devoted to the appearance, and balance of flavors in each dish. Without question the best (Oishii means the best in Japanese!) Japanese food experience in Boston. A treat for a special occasion or just a fun dinner with friends. book the private room downstairs for larger groups.

Excellent dining experience
Oishii has been great for 20 years, but the Boston location continues to deliver excellent Sushi, amazing dumplings and ramen.
Highly recommend the pork ramen on a chilly day.
