Consistently good food, and
Consistently good food, and marvelous service. We had the sea scallops and the Amish chicken this time (recommend both), and look forward to returning to try more of the small plates. Great menu -- diverse, interesting, well executed.

Dinner was great. Every dish
Dinner was great. Every dish we got was really exceptional. I'd especially recommend the scallops, the squid ink pasta, and the risotto. The menu had a great selection, and the sizeable small plates section allowed our group to try a number of the items on the menu. I will definitely be back!

Food was terrific. Service
Food was terrific. Service was attentive, knowledgeable and personable. We had small plates and salads only. Spinach with figs and al almonds was amazing as was shirred egg on mushroom and potato hash.

The menu is unique and fresh-
The menu is unique and fresh- it is nice to find variation in the menu throughout the year. We loved the wine list and the cocktails. The atmosphere is relaxed and beautiful-- the outdoor patio is wonderful in the spring. The GM/owner is great, he is very engaged in all aspects of the restaurant. Excellent service and quality of food. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been!

While I use Open Table a great
While I use Open Table a great deal, I rarely write a review. This is an exception because this restaurant really deserves kudos. It is located on a block usually associated with tourist restaurants. But this should become a local staple and is worth jockying for a parking space, which isn't easy. The artisan cheeses were wonderful. I had two small dishes -- the lamb and veal meatballs and the wild boar sausage -- both mouthwatering. My wife had a tasty and moist halibut. We practically licked the plates. I also greatly appreciate the fact that they could have squeezed in a few more tables, but instead have left enough room that one can have a private conversation. And, finally, the service was very attentive and professional. Bravo.

Love the fresh and organic
Love the fresh and organic ingredients. Real American preparations. Good food you can feel good about. Toad in a hole - wonderful appetizer. Roast chicken, which can be boring was anything but, it was moist and very flavorful. Service - hmm, waitress was working hard but perhaps they need more wait staff. Service was a bit slow and inattentive.

DK is part of the farm-to-table
DK is part of the farm-to-table movement (like Founding Farmers) but doesn't take itself too seriously about it. They have well-crafted cocktails and decent wine by the glass. The menu changes constantly with fresh and innovative dishes. The restaurant is extremely loud, so don't plan a romantic date here. The service is attentive and well-informed.

District Kitchen provides a wonderful set of food and drink options. All items ordered were wonderful and unique. Cheese and pickled veggie selections were impressive. Wine choices were good by the glass or bottle.
Parking can be challenging - but if you live in DC this does not need to be stated.

I made a dinner reservation for a group of 4 for on Monday. We met at the bar first and recommend the Old Fashioned for all the bourbon drinkers out there. The special that evening was a roasted duck breast which was exceptionally tender and delicious. Our server was knowledgeable of the menu and was attentive without being obtrusive. This was my second visit to District Kitchen and there will definitely be a third.

Good food, but too loud
We were meeting up with out of town family, but we never got to talk because we had to shout even to the person next to us. Though the food was excellent, I'd probably pass next time because it was just too hard to be social with more than one person. I guess restaurants with only hard surfaces: concrete, brick, and no carpet or tablecloths are the thing now because it makes the place feel bustling, but it is pretty annoying after 10 minutes

Excellent as always
District Kitchen is lively, fresh and always something new. The ingredients are the best they can find and the chef is inventive and fun.

Another great meal in our 'hood.
This place never disappoints whether we bring picky out of town family, hang out with friends or just am enjoy an impromptu date night. Fresh flavored, fun cocktails and a wine list full of interesting choices, even by the glass. Can't go wrong here.

Really nice time
Our server knew the menu incredibly well and made terrific suggestions. Hanger steak special was amazing. Overall excellent experience!

Delicious food, good service,
Delicious food, good service, reasonable prices for what you get- nice contrast to the many decent but predictable kitchens in a block of so many restaurants.

We went to it in the last day of our trip, food was amazing, great service and had different things on the menu that you typically do not see. Totally recommend this place

Finally something in Woodley
I am so pleased that this restaurant has settled in Woodley Park. On par with, if not better than, any of the similar restaurants along Connecticut in Upper NW; Ripple, Ardeo/Bardeo, & Buck's.

Remarkable food and stellar service
Chef Drew never ceases to amaze me with his creativity, consistency and flawless technique. The great cocktail and wine lists along with friendly and attentive service, really make DK a unique and delicious experience.

Great Summer Evening Meal
We're not vegetarians, but that mushroom black-bean burger is seriously to die for. It hit the spot that night like I couldn't believe. We added cheddar for $2, money well spent. Two appetizers beforehand - sockeye salmon rilette, and brunschweiger paired with pickled beets - were also knocked out of the park. The food at this restaurant is really quite amazing. Our waiter made perfect wine-by-the-glass suggestions, and if we hadn't had to get up early the next morning, we'd have ordered more. Trying to lose a few pounds (aren't we all) but after such a great meal could not pass up at least trying a dessert. Chose peach cobbler. Wow. Well worth every. Single. Calorie. We'll be back soon. Very soon.
Oh, fabulous service, too.

Loved the duck bacon pasta
Loved the duck bacon pasta dish! Small but good beer selection. Server appeared that she just wanted to ho home, but was still polite. Portions are small so order 2 plates per person

Went here on a Saturday night to celebrate a friend's bday. We had a leisurely meal outside. A great tequila with jalapeño cocktail was enjoyed by all. Food highlights - sweet potatoe with bacon hash, sea bass, and watermelon and feta salad. The steak tartare was also good, though not a knock out like the hash.
Look forward to visiting again soon.

Took a leap of faith with an unusual cocktail, and it was amazing. I am impressed with the creativity of the mixologists! I love the exposed brick walls, low-key vibe and mix of small plates. This is a good spot for lots of different things - a drink, a small meal, a big gathering.

District Kitchen is back!
Having been somewhat disappointed a few months ago, I was surprised and pleased by my recent experience at District Kitchen. The service was excellent: attentive, knowledgable and low-key. The menu had lots of interesting options and all of it was good. The food was luxurious and interesting, well and thoughtfully cooked. My only complaint was the noise: the restaurant has an appealingly industrial feel, but all those exposed, hard surfaces make it pretty noisy.

Great food but casual
I was very impressed. Food was creative and delicious. Presentation was not at all pretentious. Portions were perfect. Cocktails were unique. Wine list was very well thought out. Only room for improvement was that wait staff could have circled by more frequently. Came with some friends who really knew their food and wine and they were very impressed as well.

Hit and Miss
The service and ambience are ideal for a couple or group dinner. We weren't rushed and the server was knowledgeable about the menu the only down fall was the server never asked if I cared for another glass of wine when I finished my first glass. The cheddar pecans and waffle fries were excellent. The steak dish with mashed potatoes and tomatoes was superb and cooked correctly to order. However, the ribs with chili seasoning was a fail. The meat on the ribs was cooked perfectly, but the chili spice seasoning confused my tastebuds and was a bit overpowering. The ribs was just a special and maybe the chef was testing out a recipe. I would come back to this restaurant again when in the neighborhood and look forward to their evolving menu.

A Party in Your Mouth
Small plates format, limited menu, but everything they did, they did well & it was easy to choose complementary dishes. Good beer list (though I'd upgrade the one cider, even if it is local). Make sure to try/savor the sauces. The homemade hot sauce that came with the collard greens made an already good dish great.
We left the kid behind, but it was clearly a kid-friendly restaurant and (even more impressive) the tables were spaced well enough that even the presence of kids in high chairs at tables around us didn't disrupt our date night vibe. Also worth mentioning -- we were able to get a last-minute reservation on Saturday night. Restaurant filled up, but I sense it gets a lot of walk-ins both from neighborhood and from hotels nearby.

Another great meal at DC
We have been to District Kitchen many times since it opened about two years ago, and the experience has always been great. He food is superb; the ambiance is cozy, energetic, and hip; the specialty drinks are interesting and tasty; and the wine list contains a lot of affordable, but tasty wines. I would highly recommend!

Very good food. Its probably best if you go with a group so you can try more of their food items. Particularly enjoyed the pork and chicken liver pate. Will definitely go back.

A good first date
This was my first time visiting DK. I really enjoyed it. I thought the atmosphere, wine, food, and service were all good. I would definitely return.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
They were short staffed (so our waiter was also bartending) but manager/owner was superb. He apologized gracefully and continued to fill our wine glasses (for free) throughout our meal.

Great food, marginal service
We had a lovely dinner but a seemingly confused server. He forgot our drinks and just seemed off. Otherwise, a nice place for smaller, shared plates.

Thursday night on Conneticut
It was difficult to have a conversation because the Mellinials were buzzing like a hive, but the portions were just the right size and the meal was delicious. The waiter was attentive and well informed. A good experience.
