Bobby Van's is a great restaurant at the Gran Central Terminal end of Park Avenue. High end NY steakhouse, it has a great steak menu and very effcient staff. I would definitely recommend but bring plenty of money.

Food is great. You always know what you're getting which is great for business dinners/lunches. The service is consistent and attentive without being overbearing (conducive to business conversations).

One of the best steak places
One of the best steak places in NYC. It's proximity to my office makes it a great spot for a powerlunch or after dinner place with clients, colleagues, or friends. White table clothes, great service and delicious steaks and lobsters. The iceberg wedge and shrimp cocktails are the best anywhere, and steak? Just as good as Luger's (let's face it, comparisons are inevitable).

The restaurant was well appointed.
The restaurant was well appointed. Great service, was very attentive. This is a classic steak house and you must have the fillet. The restaurant is in the Helmsley building and has great view down park ave . Went for my birthday and they did as I requested and set aside the best table with a view. Desert is a not to be skipped, tiramisu, cream brûlée and black and white ice cream was amazing.

All around great steakhouse
Loved the hash browns and asparagus.
Ordered the Cajun rib eye. Cooked perfect but I like a rub more than a sauce.
Service was very good.

Always a great place for a
Always a great place for a business meal. Steaks are their specialty and are top quality and always done exactly to perfection, but there are a wide array of alternatives like fish, lamb, pork chops, and very good salads and appetizers. Their salads are good as a lighter alternative to a big steak. Their small filet mignon is good, but not too intimidating. Side dishes are all the standard steakhouse things like creamed spinach and various potato preparations, but I am very partial to the creamed spinach. The service is very good, professional and attentive. The Bobby Van's on Park Avenue is probably their smallest one, and is a good location and a but quieter than their larger venues.

Among the better steaks in
Among the better steaks in a better steak city. All of the food is served at a high level with a minimal regard to excess in presentation. Simple, classic prime aged beef served as ordered, cooked to perfection. Sides excellent. I had the ribeye, superb. An associate had the seared tuna which look fantastic. Competent caesar salad if not special. Only complaint is the place is just too darn noisy! Can't have a conversation across a table of 4.

IMHO I thought the steaks in Houston were good but the filet mignon in Park Avenue was the best ever!

New York's Best
This place has the New York ambiance that has been attracting people for years. Everything about the food and service is outstanding. A bit pricey, but well worth the money. A real New York experience - definitely the best of the Bobby Van chain.

Never Let's You Down
As my luncheon guest said, everything on the menu is great. Not that we were able to put that to the test in one sitting! The tuna tartare and lemon pepper shrimp were delicious and the chicken parmegenia looked fantastic. The service can best be described as no nonsense excellence. At lunchtime, when you aren't able to necessarily linger everything happens efficiently, though you never feel you are being rushed. I have been going here as a visitor to NYC for at least 15 years and now that I live here, I am looking forward to tasting more of the menu very soon.

Lunch for International Guests
I have friends in NYC from the Middle East. We knew that we wanted a quiet location for a professional meeting over lunch, in midtown. I recommended Bobby Van's, and all were very pleasantly welcomed.
The food was great, and prepared as each of us wanted it … three different steaks, all prepared differently, simultaneously delivered with all side dishes … my colleagues were impressed because (invariably) they have to wait because the timing in the kitchen is off. They complimented the chef and the service staff because of the quality and quantity of the food, the attention (but not obsequiousness) of the service, and the overall quality of the meal.
Highly recommended, and we will come again!

Had their tasty burger for lunch, even though it wasn't on the menu. Their burger, while still large (and more than what I can eat), seems to have shrunk a bit. Can be in and out in 45 min, although you'd probably want to take your time.

Restaurant Week checklist
Food: excellent, but not the best thing I've ever eaten. I ordered baked clams for an app and salmon with horseradish sauce as my main dish. The clams were crisp on the outside but moist on the inside, perfectly executed. I am very picky about how my salmon should be cooked but it was perfect. Cheesecake wasn't anything special. Disclaimer: seeing as this is a steakhouse I had to taste the steak and the meat was amazing.
Service: we had an 8 pm reservation and were seated after 15 min. We weren't in a rush but the host got us all wine to keep us happy. The server was great (gave us extra sides to go). Top notch service.
Ambiance: Dimly lit and romantic; definitely a great date spot. Old school charm
Overall I would absolutely come back.

Bobby Van's - Worth the Price?
The food at our dinner at Bobby Van's was especially good - the filet, the veal chop, the sides of mashed potatoes and creamed spinach, and the bread pudding at dessert were all wonderful. The irritating thing was that these items all came from the Restaurant Week menu, which was not presented to us when we were seated. We had ask for the menu specifically, almost as if they didn't want us to know about it. And you should know, if you didn't already, that the prices on Bobby Van's normal dinner menu are shockingly high, even compared to other comparable midtown steak houses. So, diner beware!

Food was outstanding
The food here is always outstanding. The waiters are typical steakhouse waiters in that they perform their job very well, but are not too outgoing, it's all business with them. It is quite noisy here, so I would not recommend it for a quiet romantic date. The lunch crowd is mostly "suits" conducting business over lunch. I have only been here during lunch, not dinner so my review is based on that.

Worth the Money
Took a date to this steakhouse, it didn't disappoint. The steak and fish we had was memorable. The servers were attentive and the setting was sophisticated. It was not inexpensive however, if your goal is a great meal and a good experience this place delivers.

We came here for Restaurant Week and just loved it. The filet mignons were the best my wife and I ever had. Everything was well-done and the service was professional and superb. It is amazing place for those special occasions or romantic evening. The wine list is excellent and has great choices in all price ranges.

Originally came in to preview the restaurant week menu but decided on selections from the full menu. Fantastic wait staff, wonderful meal. Management was a bit cold; asked that we give up our table before we even finished our (2nd) bottle of wine.

Lindo ambiente y excelente comida
Siguiendo por la 6ta avenida, uno atraviesa Grand Central Station y sale a un corredor dentro de un edificio donde en la esquina está el restaurante. La zona donde se encuentra no puede ser mejor.
Pedimos carne y salmón. Ambos estuvieron espectaculares. Lo acompañamos con un pure de papas y u pure de espinacas, realmente notable.
Los mozos muy amables y la comida salió rapidísimo.
Fuimos en el Restaurant Week, así que el precio estuvo muy razonable (USD 50.00 por persona por 3 platos - entrada, segundo y postre) más la propina e impuestos (20% y 8%)

This restaurant was just what I was looking for. My husband's birthday coincided with restaurant week and I was looking for a great steakhouse. Not only was the food great and service wonderful, but the deal was outstanding. I will definitely return.

Delicious food and graet atmosphere
This was my second time at Bobby Van's. the first time I was underwhelmed by really bad overpriced food. As it is Restaurant Week, I decided to give BV's another try and I was very pleasantly surprised. I started with the shrimp bisque soup which had actual lump pieces of shrmp floated on top. I followed with the salmon with buerre blanc sauce with was perfect cooked. The sides of creamed spinach and mashed potatoes had me and my tablemates making yummy sounds. I completed my indulgence with bread pudding with warm bourbon sauce. I am happy to say my guests and I left saited and fully committed to going back to BV's again. I've promised myself to try the steak next time or the beef bourdelaise with mushroom sauce. Yummy..

Great place for business lunch
Great place for business lunch or diner, or to meet good friends after work for a few drinks before getting on the train two blocks away at Grand Central. Quinessential old-school New York Steakhouse with great Steaks (I thought the Porterhouse for 2-4 was perfect), Lamb Chops, pork, veal, and several really well prepared Fish dishes. Very efficient and attentive service, but not overbearing. The place feels comfortable and inviting.

GOOD but Noisy with average service
I went for business lunch with some of my client, I booked a table in advance for 4.
The food and the wine were amazing as usual.
Nevertheless the table was in middle in the main room, every 3 minutes a waiter was either pushing me and my customer because our table was in middle of the way.
It was very noisy, I could talk or hear the person in front of me, since the table next to us was very noisy.
I really like this place since is next to my office with amazing food and wine but it makes things complicated when you can't enjoy the lunch because of noice and bad placement.

Great steak and traditional steakhouse side dishes. Top notch service. Be prepared to pay a
premium price for both. Main drawback: The wine list is grossly overpriced. There isn't a good deal in the whole list.

Good midtown business lunch venue
Bobby Van's is always a favorite on mine. Beef is out of this world. On this particular occasion, Brussels sprouts sautéed with bacon were excessively greasy.

good steak but slightly disappointe
i asked for medium, but what came out was closer to well-done than medium. didn't want to complain too much after seeing another customer seating next to me get chewed out by the waiter.
