Tomo is always great: Taya, Mai, Ferry, Priscilla and of course Cliff. Just love coming here. It's like seeing the most hospitable friends you can ever have. You have to try the Japanese Jack and Japanese Snapper, both of which Tomo brings in from a market in Japan every Tuesday and Thursday. Also, the sake list is quite good. I've not found a selection that I haven't enjoyed.

The sushi is excellent, service great and ambience upscale but comfortable. Tomo has a great combination of traditional Japanese fare and things that you wouldn't find at most Japanes restaurants. Enjoyed the Sake and found the chef recommendations on the menu to be very tasty.

Great time, Great service
We went for a one-off dinner and had a great time. Very attentive staff and have very good recommendations on what to order. Would recommend to everyone.

In addition to having a great group of friends to spend the evening with, we had an amazing dining experience at Tomo. I feel like in a lot of restaurants, service can get choppy when you have more than 4 people dining - not at Tomo. The service was impeccable. The food was amazing (I am not easily impressed). Everything was fresh & absolutely delicious. The waiter listened to us and made great recommendations. The entire experience could not have been better.
The wine list was also a big plus - very broad selection in all varieties, red & white alike. All price points were represented.
I truly enjoyed my experience & look forward to returning to Tomo soon.

As always 5 Stars
Tomo is great. The quality of the fish is top notch. Cliff is a hands on manager with a complete focus on quality and service. We love Mai and Taya.

Tomo is Ono
Tomo has fabulous and exceptionally well-prepared food. The lamb chops are amazing and the diverse array of sushi and sashimi is the best in Atlanta, impeccably prepared and presented with style. I highly recommend Tomo to the most discerning epicurean.
5/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Very good sushi. Portions are smaller but quality is excellent.

Best Sushi in ATL
We have been several times to Tomo over the years, it never disappoints. What a difference in quality as to compared to the other Sushi place in town, sure you pay for it but the difference will spoil you. Highly reccommended

Tomo was a treat!
I had heard good things about Tomo, but my dining experience there far exceeded my expectations. We enjoyed everything from our vegetable tempura to a simple salad with ginger dressing. I enjoyed the salmon entree - it was cooked perfectly and the glaze really made the dish a stand-out. The sushi was delicious and well presented. Lastly, great cocktails! Looking forward to returning!

We were huge fans of Tomo when it was in the old location. They retained the great food, increased the sophistication of the experience, and were able to maintain the great service. Ferey, our favorite waiter is still there, and it is always a great pleasure to have his expertise. A great dining experience.

Another impeccable Tomo experience.
We live in the neighborhood and dine at Tomo a couple of times a month. It is the best sushi in Atlanta, but what really sets it apart is the other food on the menu. The miso cod (top notch Nobu knockoff) and grilled squid are both fantastic, as is the Tuna Tartare. I also love the broiled yellowtail collar. They have a six course special for $50 per person which is a real bargain. There is a high energy vibe to the atmosphere, a business hot spot during the week and a real date night place on the weekends. The owner is always present in the dining room and he does a great job of welcoming guests with a person touch. We will continue to return frequently.

Best Sushi in Atlanta
I wish this place had been in Atlanta when I lived there. The service and presentation was outstanding, as was the food.

Saturday night was our second visit to Tomo and all I can say is that you cannot go wrong with this restaurant. The food we watched being served throughout the evening was so beautifully presented and it all looked so mouth watering! Interestingly, we went to Tomo to order sushi, but the closest we got was the cucumber & crab meat salad with jalapeno dressing, which was to die for! Tomo has arguably the best tempura in Atlanta (reminds me of Soto's), and the shrimp and vegetable appetizer was perfect. We ordered the NY Strip (medallions) because we wanted to try Chef Tomo's version, and it was delicious, too! We are going back this week for sushi! I highly recommend Tomo to all who love consistently great food and top-notch service!

Our favorite restaurant in
Our favorite restaurant in Atlanta, it is the only world-class restaurant left here.

Best Sushi in Atlanta!
Simply the best sushi in Atlanta! Only go if you are into fresh fish as they don't offer many rolls. Make sure you take the staff's recommendations on what is fresh and what you should order.
7/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Sat outside. Very good. Even tried the Japanese whiskey. Atmosphere is modern, clean. Waitress very friendly.
7/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Absolutely loved the food! Very elegant presentation, fish is extremely fresh. Wait staff are knowledgeable of the menu--both food and drinks, friendly and provide great service. Took my boyfriend there to celebrate an award he won and had a great time. Sashmi fish size is that big and the entree size is very small as well (but a little pricey)--BUT SO WORTH IT!

Fabulous, As Always
Tomo is an exceptional dining experience. The staff is attentive and very friendly. They make you feel like a special customer from your first visit. I recommend the Kampachi Serrano and the Hamachi Collar. You should really try Tomo... On e you've experienced this special restaurant, you'll return again and again!

My husband and I were really looking forward to dining at Tomo. While the food was terrific - fresh, high quality, well-prepared - the service left something to be desired. We went fairly early in the evening before catching a movie, so the crowd wasn't too thick yet. There were plenty of servers standing around bored looking, yet they weren't as attentive as we would have liked and didn't provide recommendations easily. Additionally, the pacing of the food was far too fast. It was date night, not a power lunch!
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good food but need a new hostess
Greeted poorly by hostess who was clueless. Sat at the bar and had great food served by excellent bar tender

All Around Great
Top Sushi restaurant in Atlanta. Great fresh sushi, immaculately prepared. Unusual rools and combinations of flavors. Highly recommend Tomo restaurant.
8/11/2013 5:00:00 PM
After having been to Tomo four times now, I can safely say that this restaurant doesn't disappoint. Whether you're wanting to venture off the beaten path and try the sushi with both tuna and Gorgonzola or just stick with fried soft shell crab, everything on the menu is sure to be at just the level of quality of taste that you expect.
After your desert, don't forget to ask for the green tea cappuccino - it's off the desert menu, but they'll still make it for you. It's truly phenomenal.

Our wait staff was outstanding
Our wait staff was outstanding and I had the best Saki I have ever had.

Tomo has a very authentic Japanese food with a great combination of fish and flavors.
Service was great, food was great, wine menu is very good
Can't wait to go back

The real thing
Sushi lovers, This is the real thing in Atlanta. Don't go for teriyaki and California rolls--If that's your speed, go to Rusan's. But if you want a genuine sushi experience, this is the ticket.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great sushi spot
Delicious and fresh food. Restaurant has a clean, modern feel.

Best sushi in Atlanta
I live in LA. I travel every week and have been to the best sushi places in the USA.
This is right up there as far as quality and selection.
Atlanta is not a great sushi town as people here like American style, With lots of rolls and spice to ruin the fish.
They must have some of that on the menue to survive
It would be nice to be able to order direct from the sushi chef as opposed to the waiter
Bet sushi in Atlanta. Nothing even close!!
8/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Wonderful dining experience.
I wanted to find a memorable place to take my wife out for sushi and Tomo did not disappoint. If there's anything we believe should always happen when going to a sushi restaurant is that the best experiences are had when sitting at the sushi bar. San created a beautifully prepared multi-course sushi and sashimi experience. Our service was exceptional all the way around which added to the experience. I will say that the atmosphere was a bit on the clinical side and not exactly "warm", but it definitely did not detract from the great food and service.

A great find hidden away, amazing sushi and as fresh as it gets!

I wanted someplace special that had sound food reviews for my daughter's 21st birthday. I discovered Tomo's in a google of Atlantas Best restaurants. The restaurant is located in the Phipps Plaza area which is beautiful. Tomo's decor is BEAUTIFUL and classically modern. The food was very good to excellent and the prices are surprisingly reasonable. We tried Kimme Dai sashimi, avocado salad, grilled kama, tempura app (WOW), shrimp tempura entree (bc the app was so good), salmon sushi (excellent), shrimp tempura roll, and house special roll. My daughter really wanted to try the Aji Tataki, but they were out of it that night. So we will definitely go back to try that and lots of other very interesting and probably delicious items!
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
We moved to Atlanta from the Pacific Northwest a couple years ago, and have been longing for good sushi since -- and now we can stop looking. High quality, fresh fish. Some reviews (and the couple at the table next to us) think the prices are too high, but for fish of this quality, nothing was out of line; in fact, our bill came back a little lower than we expected. Desserts were also delicious.
The sake list is good, though a little confusing to compare due to different sizes of everything (6oz for some, 300ml for others).
My only other complaint would be that the tables were positioned a little too closely together. We couldn't help but eavesdrop a little on the tables beside ours, and we didn't feel like we had any privacy of our own.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Creative & delicious
Everything we had was delicous, and you definitely can't go wrong with the snow crab jalapeno, kampachi serrano, and garlic yellow tail roll!

For special occasion
Tomo is a very good Japanese restaurant. The food is simply amazing and tasty. It is not a cheap place to eat, but is definitely worth it to go for a special occasion. The location and the ambience is ok - as I am more a fan of cozy restaurants than modern ones, but for who likes to be on a hot spot, Tomo is a great place to be.
One suggestion only - the menu (not its content but the design, the way it is written and presented) it doesn't match with the level of the restaurant. For a restaurant like Tomo I would definitely change the way that the menu looks, which is like a "fast-food menu" (white sheet of paper with black letters printed and plasticized...not nice).
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Tomo is my favorite sushi place in Atlanta. We had a large party, and except for myself, all were newcomers to Tomo. As usual, the food was excellent. The fish is always incredible fresh. The ginger dressing on the house salad is delicious. All the rolls are yummy, my favorites are the spicy scallop roll and the vegetable roll (don't knock it til you try it!). You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Enjoy.
10/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food can't wait until I am back in Atlanta so I can come back
10/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Best sushi ever
Love the food, everything is super fresh.
Be prepared to pay for what you're getting,
but also know it's totally worth it

This was my third trip back to tomo and it did not diss appoint. The sushi tasted fresh, the service was fine, and the wine was delish. We sat outside because the weather was so nice. Outdoor seating area is not large, so I would recommend to request in your reservation. It is a bit pricey, but I'm willing to pay for fresh tasting sushi.

Great Sushi in Atlanta.
Very cool ambiance, coupled with great food and excellent service.
I had mentioned in the Open Table reservation that I was celebrating our anniversary with my wife.
The maitre d' greeted and wished us a happy anniversary which was very nice.
The waitress attending to us was very nice, very prompt and attentive.
The restaurant also comped us a dessert on the house for our anniversary, which is much appreciated.
All in all, a delightful dining experience.
10/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was our first time at Tomo and everything--food, service, sake--was amazing. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and Tomo was a perfect place to celebrate. Try everything--especially the appetizers and sushi. The toro and Japanese snapper were the best I have ever had. The other tables are close--but still provide privacy if that's what you desire. We struck up a conversation with the table next to us and discovered we had friends in common. One of Atlanta's best!

Best sushi in Atl!
LOVE Tomo- sushi is super fresh and delicious and creative- my favorite was the yellowtail roll with gorgonzola sauce- I know- sounds strange but trust me it is AWESOME! A highlight for me when I dine at Tomo is that the chef comes out to the dining room to check on all the tables- a really nice personal touch. Love you Tomo!

Quality ingredients, preparation,
Quality ingredients, preparation, and service. Sushi slices are a bit thin, but the restaurant is still a good value.

Very special place
I made a last minute reservation on a Saturday night at 8:30 as it was the only time available. Parking/valet was a breeze and we were 10 minutes early. It was not an issue and we were seated immediately. My girlfriend said she would rather sit at the sushi bar and they moved us without issue. They had plenty of servers and chefs available that night and service was often and prompt. One of my common dinner annoyances is an empty water glass... it never ran dry. Our server was polite and very knowledgeable about the menu. All of our questions were answered and all of her suggestions were delicious. The food was 5/5 and it did not end up being any more expensive than our weekly night out at Sushi Nami. We will be back!
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food always impeccable
My family goes to Tomo once every month or two. The sushi/sashimi and japanese dishes are always impeccably prepared and the ingredients always fresh and tasty. Attentive service as well.

Worth going to Atlanta for
We are sushi lovers and love trying new places (including all over Japan last summer). This place is as good if not better thank anyplace we have ever been!!
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
The service is excellent. We had the Sample Dinner, which at $50.00 was still a considerable value. The avocado salad was the best salad I've had in years. Next, a shrimp and asparagus stick, an incredible combination of shrimp and fresh asparagus wrapped in a very long thin spring roll wrapper and served with a unique salsa. The tempura were crisp, hot and grease free. Boston black cod was so good the only complaint was there was only one small piece to be wrapped in the green leaf and eaten with garlic chips. High quality sushi, two half rolls and three nigiri were very good versions of standard sushi bar offerings. The finale, dessert, was a mild disappointment after everything else but by then a few bites were all we had room for.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
Suggest you go, the best and freshest tuna you will ever taste
11/18/2013 4:00:00 PM
Small portions, Amazing Quality
The service was excellent and helpful. My knowledge in Japanese cuisine is very limited, but our waiter was friendly and offered great recommendations. The food was amazing, I will highlight that the sea urchin dish and the Green Tea Crepe blew me away. Although the prices were high and the quantity of the food left you wishing for more, Tomo is a restaurant worth returning to and remembering.

2nd Time Back, Still Amazing
For a full review, please refer to my first review as my experience is identically as enjoyable. Main points: Food is outstanding, service is attentive, friendly and is happy to offer recommendations on what to order. If you want great Japanese food, I highly recommend this place.
