Service was attentive and not hurried. Crispy kale salad and crispy artichoke salad starters different and well made. Fresh cod over broccoli rabe cooked perfectly. Mixed seafood grilled of shrimp, calamari, and scallops good but scallops not there; some other fish. Would definitely go back.

Great meal. Only down rated
Great meal. Only down rated food slightly because my potatoes were overdone and my husband felt his shrimp in the mixed seafood
We're a little dry. Otherwise, food was perfect. So, food is a 4 1/2 star for us.

Pino Luongo has done it yet again with this incredibly delicious array of dishes which are nothing short of high art!!! The service is impeccable and Morso is an unbelievably welcomed addition to the neighborhood and to NYC!!!

GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD FIND
Great 'real' Italian with hard-to-find rustic items (octopus, rabbit), etc. Pleasant wait staff and open airy space an decor. We will be back.

everyone truly cares care about you care about the food care about the service every detail and you feel it all during the time you are there

First experience was excellent
We thought Morso would be a standard Upper East Side Italian restaurant and were happily surprised to find unusual fish like fresh Portuguese sardines over roasted fennel (very good) as well as fresh bean salads. Our second entree, rigatoni buttera with peas and finely cut sausage in cream sauce, was superb. Portions are unusually large, so we were glad we got "small" salads and entrees. The choice of wines by the glass is good and reasonably priced for NYC. Our Tuscan waiter was also impressive: friendly but not pushy and genuinely interested in the food. The restaurant is spacious, tables aren't too close together, and we could talk easily (though it was a holiday weekend, so maybe quieter than usual). We'll definitely be going back.

Better and better
Each visit confirms this is the luckiest thing to occur in recent memory for residents of Sutton Place and mid-town East. Each time the food and service is more sophisticated. Chef Pino always had it in him, but the restaurant is coming into its own after some initial growing pains. Even Mondays, Tuesdays and weekends have a great buzz. The delicate preparation of last Tuesday's special, Veal Parmesan, was exquisite (no bread crumbs and just a drizzle of fresh buffala on a superb tomato sauce - an explosion of taste on for old NY Italian restaurant standby). If you're looking for tourists/"bridge-and-tunnels" you'll be sorely disappointed as it's all locals. This is THE neighborhood canteen of choice.

Great food on Sutton Place
We recently moved into the Sutton Place area and love the Morso experience. Great local Italian restaurant with good foods and good service in a pleasant venue.

Great Food at a Reasonable Price
If you're out for excitement, this might not be the place for you. It's in the Sutton Place area, so the average age of the diners is 50's to 80's. We took our 20 something daughters for dinner, and they felt a bit out of place. However, the food was great, and you can get small portions of almost all the entrees. With an appetizer, this was plenty of food for all the ladies. The fried green tomato appetizer over arugula is outstanding. Husband and daughter thought the caesar salad was fantastic. . Entrees all delicious... the tuna special, spaghetti with sauteed onions and tomato and the buccatini. Will definitely return for the food. Well priced wine list, too. Staff very nice, but service a bit slow. Sunday night, perhaps?

So glad to have discovered this fantastic restaurant!
Will be returning and spreading the word.
Outdoor garden dining by the 59th st bridge is very unique and not overly noisy.

We returned to Morso and were again pleased by our meals. Although we were disappointed that the farro salad is not on the current menu, the bean/lentil/veggie salad in its place was terrific. Pastas are consistently good here as was the special of veal parmegiano (which did not at all need the accompanying marrow bone). We love the fresh ricotta that comes with the bread (which would be MUCH better warmed and crisp). Desserts were phenomenal - great flourless pistachio chocolate cake, rich and creamy gelato and a nice traditional tira misu.
Service was another story - our waitress, clearly new and struggling with English would have been more at home in a diner on 1st avenue. Hard to believe management decided she was ready.
6/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Delicious food and excellent service. The waitstaff was professional and instinctively attentive, and not overbearing. Lovely evening dining outdoors. Will definitely go back -- soon.
6/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Never been better!
We have been regulars since Morso opened and have been away from NY for several months. Dinner Wednesday night was the best ever.
7/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
So much to like...
A wonderful kitchen that gives options: 'morso' portions that are smaller-sized portions of many offerings. Lovely setting nestled next to Ed Koch (Queensborough/59th Street) Bridge.
7/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
We return frequently as the food is always top quality and the specials offer a diverse seasonal variety.
This kitchen is run by a true chef who understands excellent Italian cooking yet dares to add other influences. We have introduced many guests who also become regulars.
7/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food at Morso was always terrific but the service was so poor, and the management so distant, that we stopped going soon after it opened. A revisit still finds the management aloof, but the front of house service is much improved. The hostess was gracious and also thanked us for coming (a new experience from previous visits where one was ignored on exiting). The wait staff was much more available and attentive. The food has always been wonderful and it remains so. After a year of ignoring the place, we will return.
7/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
Morso is truly the gem of the Upper East Side. Pino the chef enters the restaurant frequently to check that everyone is happy with his wonderful food. The salads are creative and great, and like most entrees, are offered in small portions as well as main courses. His fried green tomato salad is not to be missed, nor his near perfect grilled octopus salad. The selection of pastas is remarkable, try the bucatini with black pepper sauce - amazing! Fish dishes are cooked to perfection, his rabbit is great and the chicken even stands out as superb. The nightly specials - Monday's spaghetti and meatballs - creates a fuss in an an orderly neighborhood. Go before reservations become impossible! The staff are very well informed and always helpful.
7/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
a great find
We loved Morso and will go back soon-and take friends. Great food, the tables are big enough to enjoy your dinner, AND the nose level is not too high.
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
A pleasant surprise
Adjacent to the Queensboro (59th Street) Bridge, in a location which has housed several restaurants over the years, this is a
comfortable Italian restaurant, with an emphasis on Tuscan cuisine. The waitperson was especially helpful and attentive,
the Tuscan fish stew and the kale salad were very good. And one could actually have a conversation wtihout fighting the din that is so prevalent in many restaurants these days.
7/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
We broke out our passports!
Wev live downtown and joke about needing passports to go north of 57th Street. We have already stamped Morso twice. Pinot has a great menu and flare. He and his entire staff treat you more like guests than customers and what's going on in the kitchen is magical. Have plenty of the private brand ricotta -- with your popover and in your cannoli. Every pasta we have tried has been fresh and accompanied by perfect sauce (last night was a fettuc' with Bolognese).
The veal parm special Tuesday was a big hit as was the special swordfish. I love his take on a summer, watermelon salad. But just go and try it. A happy experience is worth using your passport.
7/29/2013 5:00:00 PM
Don't order, let it happen
Returned for a third time and agreed to have the boss order dinner for the four of us. Heirloom tomatoes, fresh pasta in a sublime rag sauce, warm popovers accompanied by Morso's private ricotta stock, calves liver and then Pinot selected two slices of their cakes to close out the night.
His selection of Luna wine was excellent for this meal and the price for the evening (two hours of fun) was a steal.
Go and let Pinot select your meal.
7/30/2013 5:00:00 PM
Even Sweeter the Second Time Around
This was my second visit to the patio in front of Morso and both dinners were excellent. The same waiter gave us attentive service and helpful suggestions. My group gathered early and the patio soon filled up with attractive patrons enjoyed the food and festive setting.
The out-of-the-way location is not easy to reach but worth the walk.
8/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is just a wonderful restaurant... In every way. We had a late night 9pm dinner... al fresco. Everything was delicious and we even had a special visit fro, the brilliant chef! It's a treasure in the shadow of the 59th Street bridge.
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Superior food, amateurish service
The food at this spot has always been excellent but the front of house continues to be erratic. The person bringing out the food inevitably put it down in front of the wrong person. But to their credit, the manager came over twice to check in and the owner did make the effort to say goodbye to us as we left, something he never did in the past. So they are trying. But they still need better management of staff. We won't give up on them yet but it's a pity the kitchen doesn't get better front of house. They deserve better.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
A neighborhood "go to" spot
Food, wine list, knowledgable wait staff make for a positive experience. Two minor complaints not even worth documenting.
Recommend the Oso buco, spaghetti with white clam sauce, the popovers. Dover sole was quite good but was served for two and consequently a slightly small portion. Will be back!
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
All fresh and made in house dishes were all superb! Come and enjoy small or large plates. Wait staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. A great experience. We will return again !
9/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Terrific with a Capital T.
If "chic contemporary" makes any sense as a food descriptor- Morso has hit it right on the bullseye.
For new Italian - using only the best, cleanest, elegant and refined dishes- this is IT in midtown East.
Dishes are delivered with ease - the friendly service effortless-
crowd is a discerning Sutton Place group with notables often in the mix.
One of our favorites - we are never disappointed!

The host with the most
Pino Luongo is the host I always want to be the guest of. He makes you feel welcome, encouraged, special and feels warm and sincere. His menu is rich in options and seasonal. Last night we had the autumnal salad and (perhaps) the final heirloom tomatoes of 2013. He agreed to make the Wednesday night special Timpano (baked pasta with eggplant & mozzarella and other treats) on Thursday night. We enjoyed roast chicken, duck (wow) and salmon. He was unwilling for us to skip dessert and sent two to the table.
I go back and back because the food and the staff and the chef are first rate.

Great location.. Met our son for brunch Saturday morn
Lovely ambiance, wonderful food, (cauliflower soup with green peas was outstanding!!)
Each of the entrees we ordered was delicious as well. Three of us shared the tirimasu for dessert.... Quite possibly among the best best I've ever tasted! Add to that fine service, attentive service and you get a wonderful Satuday bunch experience!!
E will definitely trend for dinner!
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
We returned to Morso on a busy Saturday night, but they honored our reservation and seated us in a timely manner. As always, the service was friendly and professional. The rabbit and pork chop were superb, as were the appetizers and a well priced bottle of Montalcino. This is a restaurant that has improved with time as it has settled in as a Sutton Place area standout. It's a bit far East for some, but well worth the trek! We look forward to our return to once again sample the culinary creativity of Chef'/Owner Pino Luongo.
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
I find the restaurant to be a very warm, enjoyable place to eat. Not noisy and frenetic. The staff goes out of their way to be helpful.
11/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
Excellent Meal -- Excellent Service
This restaurant is a true find. Everything you could want in an Italian restaurant, delicious pasta dishes prepared in both traditional and new creative ways, great and unique appetizers -- even the bread and special cheese butter is unique. The ambiance is a great combination of dimmed lights, funky, fun and sophisticated decor and a very comfortable atmosphere. Neither formal nor casual this is just the right mix.
The service was outstanding, from the friendly hostess to the accommodating wait staff. The best part is the price -- for NYC to get all that you would expect to have to pay top dollar but this is a very reasonably priced restaurant that delivers on all counts!
Highly recommended you won't be disappointed.

Thumbs up all around! A warm greeting from Chef started off. Most pleasant experience in food and service. I will definitely go back and back

Best Upscale Italian
Morso feels new and fresh while so many of its long-established northern Italian counterparts now feel dowdy and oldfashioned. This extends to the food, which includes all the classic recipes, beautifully prepared with fresh and colorful ingredients, and simply presented. A huge plus is the ability to order small or large portions of most dishes. The wine list is mercifully short, mostly Italian, and refreshingly affordable too. Servers are helpful and attentive, but never suffocating. If your favorite East Side Italian has become a bit of a "wrinkle room" in recent years, try Morso instead!

Class environment, Great food...
And outstanding service. From the warm, beautiful hostess who greets you and takes you to your table, to the fabulous decor of the restaurant, right on through wonderful wait staff and deicious food, Morso is a New York gem. I gives Eastside dining the flavor of an different, more glamourous time.
