Absolutely perfect. The food was excellent, creative and tailored to special dietary needs. Service was impeccable. Speaking with the owners, Nina and Chris added to the pleasure of the experience. A most wonderful evening celebration.

The food is an artful and delicious experience. The service is impeccable. No stuffy waiters here! I was particularly impressed that the chef's wife visited every table and was so complimentary to her husband. Even better that Chef Nugent came out and chatted with us. Their graciousness made the evening spectacular.

What a wonderful experience. Every single course was amazing. The service was impeccable and the presentation was thrilling. I immediately made another reservation after dinner.

Absolutely incredible. I've never had a dinning experience like it. The staff was friendly. Mrs. Nugent is the proud wife of her amazing husband, Chef Nugent. It was not just diner but a spectacular evening. I never knew food could be so entertaining. Every morsel was delicious.

The food was fantastic and
The food was fantastic and I really liked the servers and their demeanor. The owner came to our table and asked us how our meal was going which was very nice. My only suggestion is that the dining time of 3 hours is too long. There was quite a bit of wait time in between courses which doesn't suit my dining style as I don't like that much down time. However, the overall experience was fantastic.

Few exquisite restaurant fail to gouge their patrons via the alcohol service. Goosefoot is all about the food and the food is perfection. When a great restaurant allows you to bring your own wine, the cost of excellence is greatly reduced; your wine cellar serves you well and the experience is perfection. Bravo, Goosefoot! Joy, Chicago

Great, and could be perfect
Briefly: the food is outstanding. By far, this is the BEST value for fine dining in the Chicagoland area. I've been to most of the best of the best, and purely from a $ perspective, there is no comparison.
If you are not familiar with the restaurant, it is in a storefront in a partially vacant strip mall (not as bad as it sounds) - an unusual place for a fine dining restaurant. The interior is minimalist decor, and that, paired with the BYOB, ultimately allows them to focus on the food.
The solel negative is pacing. We had 9 courses, and after the 2nd, we had a 40 minute delay. Also, if you don't like combining your food, you will miss the chef's vision. Unless you mix the flavors, you won't get it. We would definitely return.

Our dinner at Goosefoot was outstanding - the food was amazing, the service was warm and friendly yet very professional. The evening definitely ranks within my top ten dining experiences.

Yum-o all the way!
Amazingly delicious! Read about Goosefoot when all the raves started. Hands down, all those raves were true! Although it took me quite awhile to find an open reservation through Open Table, I found one for 5:30pm on a Weds. Not typical dinner time but considering we were there til 8pm, the timing was excellent. My fiance and I were celebrating our recent engagement. Nina (Chef Nugent's wife), greeted us at the door and congratulated and sat us down. So friendly and in my opinion, I love seeing husband and wife supporting each other. Kudos for that! Went through 11 courses, each one only got better and better. Goosefoot is an experience everyone should try. The BYO option is just another plus for me. Can't wait for our next visit!
5/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food is amazing
Second time visit and the food is still amazing! Each dish was so well prepared and presented. If I could package the cauliflower soup and take it home I would. Venison was very well prepared. Nina is such a warm and friendly person. Will be back many more times.

Fine food at a relaxing pace
We have been lucky enough to visit Goosefoot for the fourth time. The complexity of each dish is astonishing with multiple sensory triggers layered on each plate. The intricate plating of each dish requires quite a bit of artistry and time in the kitchen, so bring your patience and an extra bottle of wine; in order to enjoy a 3+ hour evening.
5/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Incredible dining experience
Goosefoot is perhaps one of the best restaurants in Chicago. Many fantastic small restaurants like Goosefoot have opened in the last few years, and all are incredible - Goosefoot, Elizabeth's, El Ideas, Grace. Goosefoot is a standout in this lineup of accomplished restaurants because of the atmosphere, graciousness of the chef-owner and his wife, presentation of the food, and the amazing flavors that are coaxed out of each morsel on the plate!

Remarkable with a personal touch
My third visit. Chris creates a 9+ course tasting menu which is rarely matched in flavor and presentation. Nina and her staff thoughtfully see to your comfort in the front of the house, while Chris and his team prepare you an amazing dining experience. We congratulate them on their decision to be and remain BYOB. We am not wealthy, yet we enjoy fine dining and we’ve found it sad that we often spend as much on forgettable wines as we do on our meal. At Goosefoot we can bring our own wines, which may not pair up with each course according to an expert sommelier, but at the end of the evening, we are happy with the wines we chose and the remarkable diner we were served. Isn't that really what it is all about? (but I do miss the Chestnut soup!)

Exceeded our Expectations
I can't say enough about Goosefoot - from the presentation of the food, to the quality and detail of each dish, to the friendlness of the staff.....my favorite part was meeting the owners; Chris Nugent (owner and chef) and his wife chat with each table at the end of the night with a comfort level that make you feel like you've been neighbors for years. To eat such a fine meal without pretense and attitude made for one of the best evenings we've experienced. We started at 9pm and left after 12:30 and that was our second favorite part. A lovely, slow, dinner is so rare these days. There was no pressure to hurry; no pressure to leave. The crowd was mixed in age and dress; which we loved as well.

Relaxed, comfortable dining
Goosefoot was worth the wait. While the location is a bit surprising, the entrance welcomes you to a relaxed dining room, complete with muted art work and great music. The staff greeted us with genuine interest, and the plates were well timed and absolutely delicious. My favorite dish was the corn soup - could've eaten three bowls of that. Overall, a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend visiting Goosefoot, if you are lucky enough to FINALLY get reservations.

We were lucky enough to get reservations for the day following our wedding anniversary.
The food was delicious, artistic, and unique. The service was formal (but friendly). The entire dining experience was just that...an experience. Chris and Nina go out of their way to greet and thank each guest and spend a few minutes chatting. They are a sincere and talented couple. I was very glad that we got a call the morning of our reservation to chat about food allergies and wine pairings - but most importantly to let us know that the dining experience would be about 31/2 hours - which it was. My wife and I were pretty impressed with ourselves for staying up WAY past bedtime for our 9pm reservations!

Fantastic Dining in Chicago
I don't usually give rave reviews, but I will for Goosefoot. The service, food, atmosphere were all perfect. We enjoyed our experience very much for an anniversary dinner and will be sure to come back again.

Worth the long wait
It took us a year to get a table. We were not disappointed. We love the relaxed and personal feel of the place. Tremendous care went in the preparation of each course -- both in terms of the complexity and artful blending of textures and tastes, and imaginative visual appeal. Our menu was more tilted towards seafood than meat, which was exactly how we like it . The deserts were unparalleled in their originality, complexity, and lightness. Chef Nugent has a special talent with chocolates -- how he could make something taste so rich at the same time light as air is unfathomable. Even though we started our meal at 9, we were never rushed and despite the late hour, the Nugents took time talking to each customer. A first-rate dining experience.
8/13/2013 5:00:00 PM
Perfection from start to finish!!!
Service was attentive! Timing between courses was impeccable! The food was absolutely delicious. Chef Nugent even came out to check on things. Cheers! Thanks Nona, Chef Chris Nugent and to your entire staff!

Precious but not precious
The room has a quiet simple elegance, the service is formal but friendly without an ounce of pretension. The food is absolutely outstanding- inventive, presented like art, but never precious or silly. Everything worked and worked beautifully. If it wasn't so expensive, I'd go back once a month. I will definitely go back on my next special occasion. Kudos!

Best in Chicago
I don't even know how to put in words how amazing our experience at Goosefoot was. The food was out-of-this-world good. This place is BYOB so we brought 2007 Alain Burguet Gevrey-Chambertin Tradition which paired very well with the courses.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Chris and Nina Nugent have created a special place that exudes warmth, charm, comfort and is worthy of a Michelin star. 9 courses with chef's whims added make for a wonderful degustastion experience. Courses are expertly paced and appropriately sized. The night we were there, the fall menu had been introduced and truffle was featured. Seasonal ingredients, locally sourced keep the menu fresh and exciting. A very special place, made more affordable by being BYOB. Snagging a reservation online requires 60 days advance planning and staying up until midnight. Well worth it!

And the winner is!!!!!
By far the best experience me and my wife has and I'm a very picky.Definitely a kipper.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Celebrated the 22nd Anniversary of being married to my wife Annie. The total cost of the meal was much more than we are accustomed to spending for a dinner out. However, the meal was excellent! The satisfaction we both had for our experience more than compensated for the cost. This place will be recommended by us to others to enjoy. It was a special occasion, and Goosefoot was truly exceptional!
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everything from the moment you walk in is absolutely wonderful. The food is very inventive and you definitely get quality and quantity. The corn soup with truffle essence I wish would be sold to take out because that alone is worth every penny! There was not one thing I would change with the menu. The service is excellent and it matches what the restaurant is going for....dressy casual but still warm and inviting, non-stuffy. Nina, who is the owner, is so warm....she even walks you out the door as you leave! It really is a neighborhood gem and we will go back.
10/8/2013 5:00:00 PM
Goosefoot was a truly memorable and inspiring dinning experience. Chef Nugent's attention to flavor profiles and detail was outstanding. Each course was as good if not better than the next. Great quality of food. Staff was outstanding as well...friendly and not pretentious. If you get the chance check it out....and make to bring at least two bottles of nice French wine!!!

Great byob restaurant
This is a gem of a restaurant. Service is excellent. The chef owner & his wife are perfect. He is so personable & creates masterpieces in his tiny kitchen. The tasting menu was awesome. Portions were perfect so for those of you who are concerned about being hungry after dinner - no need to worry. Presentations were so beautiful that it seemed a shame to eat them! I will definitely be back.
10/9/2013 5:00:00 PM
my wife and I went for or one year anniversary. The food was excellent the service was great. The owners , the chef and his wife, came out to to talk with us, and even gave us a special anniversary plate. They were awesome. We will definitely be going back. Book a table way in advance, and plan on being there for 3 hours. Great place.
10/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
incredible fine dining
Superior taste, great understated non pretentious staff, excellent food, I had not one fish that I didn't love, and the portions were just right. Incredible, and byob! Would definitely recommend.
10/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Quite good restaurant
Amazing recipes, nice ways to present the different plates. Still suprised with the BYOB concept, I understand that building your own winery has to be costly for a new restaurant, but I'd love to get recommended the wines on site. I go to restaurants for the food.. and for the wine that I discover in those places.
anyway, really good service with Nina, one of the owners, really amazing and taking care of all of us during dinner.
10/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
What's good for the goose?
Worthwhile experience if you go for expensive 9 course tasting menus with 5 to 10 different small tastes on every plate. The food was very good but no course was memorable. Service was abundant but servers were hard to understand when they described the courses. Major drawbacks were the high noise level and the length of the meal. The interval between each course was 3-4 times longer than it took to eat each of them. The whole meal lasted over 3 hours. Major positive is BYOB. You can bring an excellent bottle of wine at cellar or store prices and have lots of time to enjoy it.
10/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food and service were amazing and surpassed our expectations. It was a wonderful evening and would highly recommend trying this for a special occasion or just a night out for the experience of enjoying a relaxed environment with fine dining and excellent customer service.

I have been there twice. It
I have been there twice. It is super impressive and most of the courses were amazing. The sea bass both times had a strange texture and not enough flavor. My main complaint is how long there is between courses. We were literally there for over three hours. The owners are so nice and I will be back when the menu changes.
10/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
I would highly recommend Goosefoot
I would highly recommend Goosefoot for a fine dining experience. The food is outstanding and the presentation spectacular. Nima Nugent and the wait staff help create an intimate experience and Chef Nugent takes pride in his craft. Courses are sized well, so as not to leave hungry or sated. The prix fixe changes so by the time anyone reads this it may have changed, but I especially enjoyed the Roquefort course and the Pumpkin course. The price of $135 per person is very reasonable especially since it is BYOB. I plan on returning to sample a different seasonal menu. The restaurant is not large so it is not recommend for parties greater than 6 and reservations are not easy to get.
10/30/2013 5:00:00 PM
Always a pleasure...
Goosefoot consistently provides my wife and I high quality cuisine with beautiful presentation along with warm, welcoming service. Chris and Nina are a hospitable and complimentary team who treats us as if we were dining in their on home, albeit having a fine dining experience. Thanks again for making us feel special on our wedding anniversary!

Chris and Nina well deserve
Chris and Nina well deserve all of the accolades; we can't wait to return. The vibe is comfortable and unpretentious, and the service is great. The food is wonderful, as it highlights the ingredients and is not full of gimmicks. Bring some special wine and enjoy the evening.

Great meal and experience!
The best meal that my wife and I have ever had! From start to finish, the meal and service were beyond amazing. The meal was perfectly timed from start to finish and gave my wife and i plenty of time to enjoy our wine. It's still amazing that a restaurant of this quality is BYOB which makes the price of the meal a steal in our minds. The timing of the meal was spot on and we left very satisfied. We were full, but not stuffed. Every portion was spot on to leave you wanting one more bite. Nina and Chris both came by to speak with us after our meal and we truly felt the passion they have for amazing food and a comfortable experience. We have been to Michelin starred restaurants around the country and this was by far our favorite!
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
It's worth traveling from anywhere to dine here. It was worth the 2month wait. Nina the hostess was superb and her husbands dishes were spectacular! 12 courses and 3 1/2 hours later we were done, couldn't fit another bite. Would have liked to say hello to Chris the chef but one peek into the kitchen and it was clear, he was in "the zone" so we passed and didn't disturb him. Hopefully next time!.......
11/13/2013 4:00:00 PM
Goosefoot was well worth the 5 month wait it took to finally find a reservation. Great food, beyond excellent presentation, the staff is well attentive and handles all questions you may have about the food and describes it well. The chef's wife is the hostess who cannot be anymore pleasant and really gives a good background about the restaurant. I would not hesitate to recommend or go again in the future.
11/13/2013 4:00:00 PM
Worth the wait!
We had been trying to get reservations for over a year, so we celebrated two birthdays with Goosefoot! It was all worth it, though, from the first beet bite to the last bit of chocolate and talking with the chef and his wife. Strong flavors, whether lemongrass gel, a mini turnip, or squash puree, and perfectly cooked fish/duck/beef. A place to really enjoy the food, nothing too mind-blowing, just delicious, well executed plates that look as great as they taste, edible flowers adorning and everything composed like art.
