Definitely worth trying
We had reservations during lunch on a weekday during Spring Break. The restaurant was busy but our service was great. The staff was friendly and food came out promptly. The food was delicious and dessert was yummy! Still a bit pricey for lunch for definitely worth trying.

The entrees were very good, but the desserts were amazing! We all loved the homemade tres leches cake and the chocolate chunk bread pudding tamale with mocha ice cream was heavenly! After eating these two, we bought the restaurant cookbook. We were just visiting Alpine, but we will be sure to go to the Reata restaurant in Ft. Worth since it is closer to home.

A Very Pleasant Surprise
Arriving at our reservation time, we were quickly seated at a very convenient table, by the very friendly waitress(Janice?). Our drink order was taken and filled quickly. We were given a few moments, and our food order was given, and our drinks refilled. We were one of the earliest to arrive for lunch, but the front room quickly filled up; I did expect a more formal dress, but noticed that casual to work clothes were equally seen. As more people arrived, more waitstaff "magically" appeared, indicating management's excellent concept of staffing requirements.

Enjoyed our visit - Reata
Enjoyed our visit - Reata is lovely with great atmosphere. Not a big place (10-12 tables, I think) - make reservation for weekends/holidays. Service outstanding (Emily S, our server, is juggling school, work & competition riding (just won her 36th or 38th buckle), yet was so cheerful and friendly that she made us smile lots). Food was mixed. We had soup (broccoli-cheddar and cilantro-jalapeño)- both outstanding: wonderful flavor and surprisingly light for cream-based. The cup is big enough for two to share. Had a ribeye and an asado special, and with both the meat was not the tenderest and had little flavor - not bad, not great (just the batch?). Dessert: house bread pudding - excellent with very delicious dulce de leche ice cream.

Wonderful Outdoor Dining
My wife and I recently dined at Reata Alpine in early April 2013. It was a gorgeous day in West TX and our 5:30pm dinner sitting was incredible. We chose to sit outside under a canopy of beautiful trees; the drinks were cool, the salads were indescribably delicious, esp. after a warm day of hiking. Our main courses were the Pork shank special and Reata's Carne Asada. Both were delicious. Our server, Missy, couldn't have been better; she was fantastic and friendly. Overall, a great experience.

It was a long drive from San Angelo, but well worth the time spent. Our second visit, but will not be our last.

Dined here with a group of eight and everyone was delighted. Food was fantastic including some creative special requests and off the menu items - like quail nachos. Service was fun, prompt and very friendly.

Great restaurant in a small town
Enjoyed our meal and would go back but Alpine is too far to visit more than once. But if you are in Alpine be sure to stop at Reata: you won't be disappointed

Good food but
Our food was very good. One of our group has some food allergies which she mentioned to the wait staff. She was served a dish that met her requirements except for the "decoration" on the dish. Wait staff need to be aware of the decoration and what it contains so they can share that with patrons.

Things are a little worn since our last visit but we really like the food. Waitress very attentive and knowledgeable. My food was extremely over cooked. The Manager noticed I was not eating and inquired as to the problem and immediately corrected it on top of not charging me since I did not get to eat with my other guests. We still like Reata but feel like things have slipped and for a venue with this reputation and prices think they might consider updating.

Excellent choice. Staff was outstanding. Food was very good. They over-cooked my steak, but I didn't say anything and was going to eat it anyway. the waitress came by to ask how everything was and noticed it was over-cooked, she insisted on having the kitchen cook a new one, which they did - and that steak was perfect. AND they didn't charge me for the dish. Class act. Alpine is adorable and this restaurant is a gem. Highly recommend

Reata is the place to eat
Reata is the place to eat in the Big Bend area. There is a branch in Fort Worth, but it's more than 500 miles away. It's great to have the original where we can drive to. I would recommend it to everyone. We met colleagues there and wonderful conversations as well as food.

We were in Alpine for Viva
We were in Alpine for Viva Big Bend and decided to try Reata. Salmon w/ strawberries, rice pilaf, and broccoli was very good. Very attentive service.

Very nice patio seating with many tables far enough away from each other. Service was wonderful and the food was AMAZING. Very generous portions were served!

Good find in a small town
This is a lovely little place in a lovely little town. We enjoy dining slowly when we travel and often order multiple dishes to taste and share. Our waitress, Emily, understood our request perfectly and allowed us to finish each dish before ordering the next one. While not all of our choices were of the same caliber, several of our items were truly outstanding and could stand up in any fine dining establishment. The Reata salad with goat cheese and spicy encrusted nuts was delicious. Also terrific was the grits portion of the grilled quail with grits, as well as the decadent bread pudding with white and dark chocolate morsels. The general manager, Austin, was delightful and I would highly recommend the Reata for the staff alone.

We reserved a table through open table and arrived to the restaurant on time for lunch. It wasn't too busy, the waitress was very attentive, the food arrived quickly and was absolutely delectable! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Alpine! It is a gem!

Great as usual!
The Reata has the most wonderful food and they always give you plenty! Their manager is always on top of things and very personable. Don't know that I got her name, but we've been there 2 times in the past 2 months and she is always there in the evening. I love this place and I have some of the cookbooks too!

I've been visiting the Reata restaurant for years every time I visit West Texas for Vacation every Labor Day week. This time my dinner as well as my friends was the most memorable ever. Everything was made to perfection. Our server Austin was most attentive and the restaurant was most accommodating to my sisters Avocado allergy. Looking forward to next years visit already!

Excellent food and overall dining experience. Friendly and accommodating staff.

Dinner was delicious, food had a great presentation, great proportions. Bar drinks were great. Any questions about food our wonderful waitress Libby answered and her recommendation of the night special was also delicious. The carne asada plate is just right and bursting with flavor a little Mexican and Texas all together. Pecan pie for desert, you cant go wrong with Reata. Open table was great and hassle free reservation booking. Oh yeah, big thanks to Lesly for letting us have a sample of grits before ordering them! yummy grits.

A must try
Everything was great from the time we arrived till we walked out. Our server was friendly and accomodating and the food was fantastic. No trip to the Alpine area would be complete without a trip to Reata.

Reata lives up to its good reputation---interesting, well-crafted food, Southwest atmosphere, great service. I had the tenderloin with port wine sauce. Our appetizer was roasted quail over a bed of cheese grits--outstanding. And our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Don't miss dining at the Reata if you're in Alpine.

This was my second time dining at this establishment. I made online reservations and they were honored promptly. The hostess and the waitress were all smiles and ready to accommodate. The food was excelent (I had the 14 oz. Ribeye) my wife had the Salmon. A must try are the jalapeno grits and bacon wrapped shrimp. For dessert we shared a piece of tres leches cake which was very good. I will definately go back a third time.

West Texas Gem
The Reata in Alpine is very good. If on vacation in the Alpine area it is a must stop for dinner. Located downtown with an excellent selection of items on the menu and a friendly wait staff.
