Perfect before the show
Traveling, looking for a nice place to dine before our broadway show. This fit perfect, nice atmosphere, didn't feel over dressed. The food was wonderful. And was just around the corner from the Gershwin Theater.

We went to dinner before our 8pm show and as usual the meal was great. I thoroughly enjoyed my crab meat ceviche and my main course of homemade fettuccine with lamb ragu. almost fell asleep in the theatre it was so filling and good. Will definitely retun.

Theater District Gem
Sosa Borella was perfect for our pre-theater dinner. The food, service and ambiance were great and we were able to carry on an extended conversation without having to shout. Located a short walk to many of the Broadway theaters, it is ideally located for a pre-theater dinner. They also have outdoor dining. I woulod highly recommend the three course price fixed dinner.

I ate at Sosa Borella with my daughter before attending a show. The location was perfect, but the food and ambiance were even better. I was pleasantly surprised by the rustic charm we found upon entering. It was immediately comfortable and welcoming. The service was great. AS soon as we sat, our server asked if we were attending a show, and made sure our orders came out quickly. Our food arrived steaming hot and delicious. Looking forward to going back.

don't overlook this gem
Easy to walk past it on such a busy corner. Great Argentinean food and hospitable service. Felt like a great neighborhood spot. Easy to carry on a conversation. Only downside was that my pitcher of sangria didn't seem to have any alcohol in it.

Great space for large groups.
We had a reservation for 8 and the seating was great. We sat outdoors on a Saturday night and we were able to stay for a while and talk. The ambience was nice and the bar inside was cute. The place came highly recommended from a friend who said the mussel appetizers are outstanding.

Best Steak Sandwich Ever
I have only been to Sosa Borella for lunch, but I LOVE it! The steak sandwich is the best I have ever had. I have tried a lot of different dishes and have yet to be disappointed. I dont know what this place would be like for dinner, but it is the perfect lunch spot.

I've been to Sosa Borella several times and will continue to keep this as a great place in the Times Square are not overrun by tourists. The food, service and wine list are top notch. The garden is absolutely delightful on a nice night. This is a great place for a quiet dinner as well as for a larger group.

Fabulous food - great service. All four of our entrees arrived at the same time and all were piping hot. The seafood parrillada was great as were the fettuccine with spicy lamb meatballs, the strip steak and the rosemary lemon chicken. We shared a wonderful Malbec and their gelatos are out of this world - you have to try the hazelnut! A great meal, extremely nice people and good value for money.

A Delicious Mix
A delicious mix of Argentine and Italian - a deliciouas mix of breads and salad greens, of meats and fish, of pastas and sauces, of drinks and desserts.

Goodbye Party Success!
We were a party of 6 celebrating a farewell party and we had an amazing time. The parrillada was very good and meat quality was OK. We are from Argentina and were a bit disappointed when we found out some iconic dishes were missing. Wine list is complete, but just don't get cheap wines as they're really bad. Ambiance was good and we had a great time. If you go there for drinks make sure to try the fernet with coke, a popular drink among young people in Argentina.

Went here with my wife and one of our adult children for a pre-theatre dinner on a Friday evening and was impressed. The service was friendly and attentive and our appetizers, dinner selections, and desserts were all top notch. We plan to return.

Shrimp appetizer- wow!
Our waiter recommended the grilled shrimp appetizer (in butter, olive oil, garlic, and lemon sauce and bubbling when it arrived at the table)- delicious!! Very reasonable for the location- near theaters. Overall- a great find!!
7/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
We enjoyed our meal. Portions generous. We had the filet which was tender and cooked to perfection. The greens salad was large enough for two. We also had the chicken milanesa, delicious, as we're the French fries. I had the parrillada for one but as an Argentinian would have preferred more varity. Still, cooked perfectly. I had mango mojitos in a 100 degree day, refreshing. All in all it was a great experience.

Post or Pre-show spot!
LOVED our experience. Two moms and two teen young ladies went following a 2pm showing of Wicked. We walked around the corner and we were there. They had outdoor seating available and it was offered but we declined. We loved the polenta - beet salad and pizzas. Of course gelato and cappuccino was great also.

Great for Pre-Theater and beyond
We enjoyed our dinner here; it was just like we were in Buenos Aires and the food just as good. We had the gazpacho with crab and avocado which was delicious and refreshing. The seafood Parilla was fantastic and i would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the Theater district. The service was excellent; they knew we were pre-show and made sure were were finished in plenty of time.

Cozy chic ambiance & excellent food
We loved our special ceviche, the pastas were excellent and the pizza was classic. Small, clean, romantic place.

Great pre-theatre fare
l had Lamb Bolognese over fresh fettucine. I'm still telling friends about this dish 5 days later. Yummmmmm

theater district gem
I'd been here before and suggested it for my group of good friends for a pre theater dinner. Everyone loved the food.
7/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
We tried this place for dinner before a show on a recommendation from our son. Not only was the food better than we expected, but the service was outstanding. Our knowledgable waiter was friendly and his suggestions were spot on. Grilled fish was cooked perfectly and the sangria on a sweltering night was refreshing without being overly sweet. Reasonably priced and a short walk to the theater--what more could you ask for? A welcome change from some of the eateries in the theater district.

What a find!!!
Found Sosa Borella through a neighborhood search, looking for a restaurant near our theater. After perusing the menu online, I made a reservation. We were greeted warmly by the wait staff - Philip, I believe. His knowledge of the menu was impressive, as was his friendly yet professional demeanor. All aspects of the service were impeccable, the food delightful, and the ambience charming and old worldly. We are already planning a return visit!

Picked this restaurant online
Picked this restaurant online because it was close to the theatre. Arrived early and they could accommodate us. Wanted to enjoy a few drinks prior to eating. We were not rushed in any way. Food was excellent. We wanted to move to the rooftop patio for a coffee. That was not a problem. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Service was outstanding. Food was good. Atmosphere was excellent for having a conversation. Would definitely go back if ever in NYC.

Came upon this lovely, little restaurant to dine in before a show. Started with a glass of red sangria-one of the best we've had-ended up ordering a pitcher! Our waiter, Phillip, was friendly, knowledgable, and attentive but not overbearing. Bread was fresh and tasty-perfect accompaniment to our appetizer of terracotta shrimp which was cooked in butter/oil and garlic with a spritz of lemon--recommend! Also enjoyed the grilled mozzerella with fresh tomato. Very impressed with our meals-Seafood Parrillada including mussels, shrimp, branzino and salmon-all lightly seasoned prepared to perfection, and the Parrillada which consisted of grilled short rib, chicken, and sausage-all great. Service before show was right on. Will definitely return!

Dinner on matinee day
We saw Forever Tango and then walked to Sosa Borella. This little place has a rustic feel to it and the food was delicious. We ordered sangria to start off and it was refreshing and tasty. Appetizers of fresh mozzarella and crab salad were fantatstic! For dinner we shared a large steak, cooked perfectly and so flavorful! The tiramisu we had for dessert was creamy and sweet. Service was great. The staff is attentive, but we did not feel rushed. Check was reasonable for a lovely experience! Don't miss this cozy spot.

Great food and service
We were in NYC for our anniversary weekend (from Philadelphia) and made reservations at Sosa Borella after reading reviews on Yelp & TripAdvisor, The food was delicious, a combination of Argentinean and Italian. The drinks were strong and tasty. And teh service was friendly, entertaining and attentive. I will recommend it to our friends who live in NY.

Service attentive to show times...will pace meal nicely and not rushed. Call if you cannot get your preferred time online.

Great pre-theater meal
Wonderful find in the theater district where we enjoyed a delicious meal at a leisurely pace in a quiet setting where we could actually have a conversation. The grilled vegetable appetizer with goat cheese and polenta was delicious enough by itself to come back. But our main courses also did not disappoint. The setting may be a little rustic for some, but we loved it.

Being my first time in NYC I chose his restaurant both out of convenience and interest of their menu. The dining experience turned out to be incredible. He mood was relaxing and the food was exquisite!

Really a gem!
We had dinner before the theater on Friday night. Really a cute, European style place right on 8th Avenue. Food was terrific. Service excellent. Quiet and refined. Great for date night!

Very good food but waiter
Very good food but waiter made several mistakes perhaps he was new.
Ok value for New York but need to have more flexibility in thier fixed price menu offering.

Does everything right!
This is the 2nd time I've dined here and it was as good as I remembered. An after/before theater gem. We four shared 2 appetizers which were delicious, baked mozzerella and bruchetta. We each had a glass of wine and shared a house salad. Their bread is fresh baked. I had pasta and chicken and brought some home. The bill ran around $200 plus a tip. I'll go again.

one of best in the theatre district
one of the very best spots in the theatre district - it's wonderful to enjoy a delicious, affordable dinner without being overpowered by loud music and tourist

My chicken parm was kind of
My chicken parm was kind of rubbery, but very juicy with some good flavoring. my gf's grilled chicken and fettuccine was quite good. It was a non steak night for me and maybe the steak was more awesome! There's an outdoor "terrace" in off their second floor that shows a charming view of the alleys behind the near buildings. But it felt secluded and romantic none the less. There was a concert in Times Square which we got to hear some of the sound from. Pretty neat.

Great Pre-Show Meal
Our group of 9 arrived for the service was paced to get us out on time, though they were often inattentive to various non-alcholic (i.e. water) drinkers and waiters had to be waived down to refill water glasses. At the end, they were also difficult about splitting the checks.
Those two things aside, the meal was amazing (perfect portions) and meat entrees especially delighted. The gorgonzola masked potatoes were the best! The setting upstairs was perfect and our group thoroughly enjoyed our meal without feeling rushed. We strolled back down 8th avenue to 44th street in plenty of time to be seated for the 8 p.m. performance.
We would highly recommend this spot to pre-theatre diners.

Good for after Theater
Good food, high quality and fresh. More Argentinian than Italian. should not be classified as an Italian Restaurant. That aside the food was excellent. The wine list was 95% South American/Argentinian. Quality and selection limited. Need to improve and expand list. Price are fair for the neigrborhood.
10/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lively, hip and tasty!
This is our second time dining at Sosa Borella and once again we had a great meal. They really work wonders with fish- it's always fresh with good seasonings and perfectly cooked! We will be back to this friendly neighborhood gem!

Great food and atmosphere
Wonderful menu w ample portions. We had the fettuccine w lamb meatballs, the beet salad, and for dessert the affogato. All were wonderful. Not too noisy and we could hear each other. They know many are headed for the theatre so service is appropriately attentive but not in the least rushed. Very nice ambiance.

Sosa Borrella is a good neighborhoo
Sosa Borrella is a good neighborhood restaurant. Our meals were well prepared; I had a stuffed pasta with lamb bolanaise and my husband had a breast of chicken dish. We were both happy with our meals. We had a piece of cheesecake for dessert that was well done. The restaurant where we were seated was noisy. There is an upstairs, but because of my walking they put us downstairs. I do not know If upstairs might be quieter. I would rate this a good restaurant - nothing outstanding.

Before Theater Dinner
Recommended by a friend in NYC, we chose Sosa Borella prior to catching a show on Broadway. Service was prompt but not rushed, food was excellent, and the noise level was perfect...we were catching up with some friends that we hadn't seen for a while so it was great to be able to converse in normal voices. We will return the next time we're in the city!

Found this place when we went
Found this place when we went to the theatre. We had eight so I made a reservation. We were seated earlier than reservation and the experience was very nice. Food, wine and service were enjoyed by all in our party. I would return to Soso Borella when I go to the theater again or when in Times Square.

Great place for a date
What a wonderful restaurant. We had a reservation and the waiter kindly brought us up to the second floor. The room was dimly lit with a candle on every table, and while there were several other parties there, we were seated away from the others. The food was delicious. I ordered the Branzino and it was perfectly cooked and well seasoned.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Argentine with an Italian base
Very good food, attentive service, close enough for pre-theater but out of the heavy tourist traffic. Interesting selection of Argentine wines and regional specialties along with good Italian cuisine. Our group loved the crab ceviche we shared for an appetizer. Pasta eaters were happy and I loved my roast chicken cooked to order. We will definitely return, perhaps to try the outdoor dining in warmer weather.
11/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
Nice pre-theater dinner
Cute bistro just off the theater district. Pastas are excellent. Wine list is small, but the wines offered were good.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
When we arrived at the restaurant it was fairly empty as it was a Monday night as the theaters in NYC are closed.
We had a nice table near the back. It was quiet and we were able to carry on a conversation without having to scream at each
other across the table. The menu is varied, but a bit pricy for a not too fancy restaurant. We enjoyed empanadas that were nicely
flavored, but too expensive. Everyone had an entree, and all agreed the food was nicely presented and prepared.
Dessert was good, but at $10, a bit too high in price. I will definitely return and bring friends.
11/17/2013 4:00:00 PM
Too crowded and loud!
Very cramped dining space. Meals seemed over priced for what we got. Meals lacked exciting presentation.
