Good Food, limited lunch menu
I've been going occasionally to Maynards ever since they opened. The food is always good. You cannot go wrong by choosing to go to this restaurant. I was however surprised of how limited the summer lunch menu was. We went the other day for a business lunch, and I was disappointed that the choice ended up being between sandwiches, salads and pizza. My sandwich was great. But I was anticipating something closer to the winter lunch menu, which had pasta, gnocchi....
I still highly recommend this restaurant, for the wine list, dinner menu, bar menu.

Great dining experience!
Excellent food and service in historical downtown building. My family and I had a great time, and felt like we could linger. Will go back!

Good food, nice place...
Wish 'they' allowed half stars...The food/ambiance should really be 4.5 stars...
This is a very nice place, well worth an evening out...

Simply delightful, low key dining..
Richard Oseran has worked tirelessly to find a chef that met his expectations and he has reason to be pleased with all going on at Maynard's. Having anchored the downtown way before it was cool or anything to speak of he has transformed the entrance to downtown with all levels of ambience and good food. I can say that this rivals all other great dining experiences in the greater Tucson area and we come back to it every time. The scallop dish when discussed seemed a little much. We asked for the explanation several times before deciding. Gorgeous in presentation ( desserts, too) the lentils, mushrooms, asparagus, greens, cucumbers etc, all worked subtly to make this an outstanding dish and there was nothing left on any plate delivered.

Food, service, and wine were great. Everything was fresh, delicious and prompt. Dining area was fun but still classy. A great night out no doubt.

While some of the trendy new places come and go - Maynard's can always be counted on for excellent food, service, and atmosphere! A triple threat!
7/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was excellent
The ambiance and quirkiness of the old train station was very interesting, when paired with the excellent food i would say this is definitely a place that my husband and I will return too.

New Fave Spot in Tucson
Just a wonderful experience our first visit to Maynard's for date night. It is elegant without being snobbish; very contemporary but with an antique, steampunk feel to the decor. Food was steller, service was amazing and the wine list is quite impressive. We each had the daily specials and they were incredible. It seems Chef has a lot of latitude in creating signature dishes, which we like as you get to experience things you may not each day - such as the white watermelon used as a garnish - and which I wish I could have ordered as a side. It is not common and was delicious. Our server was amazing. We will go back often and intend to bring friends! Great Job Maynard's!

Great service, Good food
Thanks for the great evening. I was very impressed by the table service. We wanted a slow meal starting with a glass of wine and time to talk, before making decisions about what we wanted to eat. The staff were very good with their knowledge and communication of the menu and wines. The mussels were fantastic.

We had a great time there, our waiter Henri/Adrial was totally attentive, had a good sense of humor and was able to be engaged and playful with us. The food was divine and so was the wine.

Post nuptial dinner
After court house marriage ceremony Maynard's was the ideal restaurant
For us to celebrate our love for one another, for Tucson, downtown, and history in the old pueblo.
The ambience was exceptionally exquisite with the Summer night after a afternoon monsoon.
The wait staff was beyond friendly and accommodating especially with a 4 year old at the table.
Food was interesting and fresh but I loved the drinks and wine. The Pims cocktail was incredible. Bread and butter was awesome.
We had the price ledge is sitting inside for dessert and an after dinner drink. So cool inside. I would definitely go back and sit at the bar simply to cool off on a hot August day. Cheers to this downtown restaurant!

Great for catching up with friends
Meet long time friends from Green Valley and had a nice relaxing experience. The wine list was extensive and tasted great. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful explaining his recommendations from the menu. The pork shank was cooked to perfection and my husbands salmon was excellent. The dessert was to die for, sort of a fancy sundae, which everyone tried because it looked so good and no calories of course : -). I would dine there again in a heart beat.

Great food but the cocktail menu needs help. This is Arizona and no margarita on the menu. I ordered a margarita as I was told they could make anything. Asked for a Reposado tequila. Drink comes out in what I would call a milkshake glass. No salt on rim. Duh?? Take a sip. Not sure what it was but not a margarita. Carbonated water? Mentioned to server who said she would take back but I decided to try to drink it. Couldn't. Ordered wine. Check came and drink was listed as a martini made with an Anejo tequila. A martini - where was the martini glass? Put simply I ordered a delicious burger that would have been even better with a margarita - not wine. Will go back in hopes the margarita is on the menu or at least a bartender who can fix one.

Local foodies always find a treat!
Four of us shared a special birthday with champagne and delicious, creative food for a middle of the week dinner.
Could not have been more pleased with the Tucson food scene!
Will be back to try one of their wine pairing dinners...

Jad the beignets and Chef's breakfast. Both was awesome. Highly recommend!!!!

Great local gem!
I have lived in Tucson all.my life and my friends and I frrquently visit Hotel Congress. Somehow me nornmy girlfriend ever notice Maynard's across the street. So one night I took her for dinner and boy were we in for a treat! Our server was very pleasant and knew the menu back and front. I ordered the Maynard's Manhattan and was quite delightful. My girlfriend ordered the fish plate of the night which.were scallops, it was incredible! I had the burger which was savory and probably one of the best burgers I have ate. We declined on dessert since we were.meeting more friends.for some sweets. But let me say me and my girlfriend both agree it has been a longtime since we had great food as Maynard's. We will be visiting again!

Terrific food, go all in on the pork shank. Friendly, well informed wait staff. We sat outside in the post rain cool to enjoy the trains going by.

Great night out
Maynards Market and Kitchen is our new favorite Tucson restaurants for special times out. The food was delightful the three times we have eaten there. Each meal had surprise twists. My wife correctly said "This is why we go out to eat", meaning you can't duplicate meals like this at home. Very very good.

chic tucson scene
My first time here and it was so nice to be able to experience urban and old tucson with a little french flair. The burgers w/ gruyere were delicious! I'll be back.

I've eaten at Maynard's several
I've eaten at Maynard's several times over the years, mostly 4 lunch...the acoustics are poor & not suitable for intimate dining. We were seated @ table for 6 equipped w/a bench seat and 3 chairs. We were there for over 2 hours & by the end of hour 1, all 3 of us seated on the bench were incredibly uncomfortable. Our waitress was superb. As for the food, 3 ordered hamburgers and they were great. 1 ordered duck confit and he loved it. 2 of us ordered the special, seared scallops w/a hominy risotto. The scallops were wonderful, huge and very tender and cooked to perfection; however the hominy risotto was undercooked and inedible. Very disappointing as the meal wasn't inexpensive. Would I return? I don't really know at this point.

A lovely evening altogether
Love Maynards - love the Cup Cafe, too, which is owned by the same group. The food was delicious with some interesting pairings, beautifully presented. Love the atmosphere which is elegant with nods to it's location in the old train depot. Love watching the trains go by while dining. Service is excellent with knowledgable waitstaff, friendly, warm, helpful but not hovering. Have dined here several times and enjoyed it tremendously each time.

Talent and Creativity Abound
Maynards is a don't miss this kind of restaurant. The chef is talented and creative. He obviously has quite a following as it was apparent that most in the dining room the night I was there were repeat customers.
The night we were there the 2013 fall menu had just been implemented. Do not miss the Autumn Tart. It reminded me of a wonderful tart I had eaten in Paris. The fresh fish (which was scallops that evening) were seasoned and seared to perfection. The broth for the bouillabaisse was rich and flavorful.
I was just too full to try the dessert but it's a reason to return.

Our taste buds were dancing!
Such a wonderful dining experience. Good friends, good food, great flavors with dinner presentation that set the tone for eye and taste appeal. All at an affordable price. Treat yourself once and you'll want to go back again.

Awesome new menu
We had an amazing dinner. Loved the new menu! The steaks were perfect.

Great Wine Dinner
We enjoyed a wonderful wine dinner in the quiet upstairs room at Maynard's.
The food was beautifully prepared and matched the wines perfectly.
The correct amount of food and wine and interesting dining companions.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
well executed dining experience
I was very pleased with the preparation of all of our dishes and the service. While we did not have the chef's tasting menu, we were sitting next to a table that was, and I watched with much curiosity as their courses were delivered. Probably the most creative thing, which I got to taste on my dish, was the beet "soil," which I heard the chef explain was dehydrated beet, crushed into a soil-like consistency. Clever, and tasty. Other highlights were the charcuterie and the pumpkin veloute. Very good way to express the flavors of the season.

Great dinner at Maynard's
Maynard's is in the old Tucson train station and you can still watch the trains go by. The service and atmosphere are both wonderful and the food is even better. Wonderful flavor combinations. Creative bartender and good wine list. Will definitely keep going back.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Exceptional cuisine, contemporary atmosphere in a historic location and impeccable service. Location has easy parking and both indoor and outdoor seating / great on a Sunday morning.

Downtown Tucson Gem
My restaurant of choice was not open on Monday. I had a colleague visiting from SFO and wanted to take him to dinner. Maynard's was close to my original selection so I decided to try it. I am so glad that I did. The food was delicious (I had the scallops daily special), the service impeccable and not rushed at all. I definitely will be going back, perhaps to try Sunday brunch.

A return to elegance
This restaurant in the historic Tucson train station is built and furnished to make one feel as if you are dining in an elegant old railway dining car. The ambiance is warm and cozy, and quiet - a rarity in many restaurants. The food is wonderful and service is superb. A perfect special occasion destination for a romantic meal, and they have a fantastic brunch menu too.
10/22/2013 5:00:00 PM
We hadn't dined at Maynard's for a while, but the wait was worth it. The food and service was excellent. We started with a Texas Mule cocktail, a vodka-based concoction, that was quite tasty, though it could use a tad more alcohol. Next came the bistro salad, with the freshest frisee and the most delicious bacon lardons. Our main was the chicken for two, which takes an hour to cook, so order it upon sitting down. The chicken had a charcoal flavor but was a little overcooked. We swapped the fingerling potatoes for the thin fries and were quite pleased, as the latter never disappoints. The recommended chardonnay by-the-glass was rich and paired well. Finally, for dessert, the creme brulee was cooked to perfection.

Oysters and Foie Gras at Maynard’s
We enjoy the Pacific coast oysters and the Hudson Valley Foie Gras there. I recommend it ,I used to enjoy the smaller game hens but this time we split a whole roasted chicken which takes a hour but was very delicious, succulent ,accompanied by baby carrots, potatoes and onions. All well cooked and good. They had Scottish salmon as the fish but we both wish they would have a wider selection to choose from and I wish they would bring back the smaller game hens. However it is restaurant with consistently good food.

A Tucson Gem
As usual, the terrific food, energetic ambience and exceptional service were on display! Maynards seems to only get better!!!!!
11/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
We ate inside and tried the special, which was a fillet and was cooked to perfection . We enjoyed the entire meal. The service was professional and at tentative. We would definitely come back.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
Maynard's was recommended by a nice lady we met at the Arizona Inn, glad we were able to make it. A little difficult to find if you don't know Tucson (our Uber driver got lost), however it was quiet and even though we were late they held our table because we used Open Table; nice compliment. A return visit is definitely in order.
11/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
Our overall experience was
Our overall experience was very good, food and sever did a good job. My only complaints, 1st, there were 9 of us dining and the table was wedged into a corner so that 3 people had to get up & 3 chairs had to be moved for people on 1 side of the table could get up to use the rest room. 2nd, and I was going to put this below but it didn't fit, We ordered a 2009 vintage wine on the wine list and didn't notice until after we were drinking that the two bottles were a 2011 vintage, thinking it was a simple issue of grabbing the wrong bottle I asked the waitress and was told that vintage years were subject to change and its all the same grapes & same vinyard so it really didn't matter, and the price was the same. We didn't order any more wine.

Downtown Tucson Gem
We love the ambience, menu, creativity, bar . . . This restaurant has it all. We had the artisanal cheese board, bistro salad, PEI mussels, and bouillabaisse. All were delicious. Highly recommend!

Treasure found in Tucson.
What a very pleasurable find in Tucson. This restaurant is what I expect in larger metropolitan areas.
The ambiance . Classy .Romantic . Adult restaurant, no kids running around here.
Wether it's for a group or a romantic couples dinner, or business connection. Maynard's is relaxing.
We were a party of 8.
Our table was ready on time. They had our reservation. The Waite staff were knowledgeable on menu, daily special & wines .
Food service was efficient . My parties food service was presented all at the same time. Hot & good.
I will be returning & from the comments of my company that evening ,so will others .
Prices are reasonable for good food.
Menu small but enough choices to please most.
Maynard's is a true treasure found .

Great great first time visit while
It had been a cold rainy weekend, so was looking for somewhere special.. Located next to the tracks in an old train depot. From our arrival until leaving, it was a great experience. Our waiter had good recommendations for both food and wine. The grilled califlower steak and veggies was special. My New York strip and sides were prepared excellent. Our only disappointment was that the market closes early and we missed a chance to brows and pick up a dessert to take home.
Thank you all. See you when in Tucson next time
11/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
The menu took advantage of the season with its brussels sprouts, lentils, potatoes and leeks. The portions were perfectly sized as both entrees were rich. Seared scallops with lentils for me and filet mignon with brussels sprouts for my partner. We cleaned our plates. Lots of local sourced options available.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food preparation (tastiness)
The food preparation (tastiness) was excellent! Not a big selection of food items which must be good for the kitchen. If you do not eat pork or shellfish, it is a little limiting. Duck Confit was excellent. Feta salad great
11/23/2013 4:00:00 PM
Maynards is even better
We have eaten at Maynards in the past and have always enjoyed our meal. This time however, was even better. We feel that the menu has definitely improved and so did the service. It has always been good in the past but we feel that management has really stepped up to the plate and has improved the overall quality. Looking forward to returning.

Excellent food and wine
Went to Maynard's for the first time on Thanksgiving and it was really very good. Ambiance, quality of wait staff, wine selection, location, and last but not least...the food was very good. Will definitely be back here for more. There is a great patio, too. Large, comfortable, and would be great for an outdoor meal. Used to be the railroad station in downtown Tucson.

Thanksgiving at Maynards! Worth it
Had Thanksgiving there for the first time. Will be back next year! New tradition! Food was great. Servings were perfect! Not too much. Service was great! Cost with gratuity was worth it. The train was loud when it went by, but it's part of the charm, in a sense. I would recommend Thanksgiving at Maynards to everyone!
11/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
Maynard's is expensive so our expectations were pretty high. The staff (hostess and waiter) were very nice, but also young and inexperienced and didn't know some things they should have. Steaks were excellent.
12/1/2013 4:00:00 PM
music stunk, over loud, should not have been so overbearing, detracted from the overall, very nice experience.
Turn it off! Or, show much better taste.

Elegance in Downtown Tucson
The BEST cheese plate ever, fabulous presentations, excellent friendly service. Not the absolute most sophisticated service but still flawless. A perfectly romantic setting for dates, anniversaries, special nights out or for simply wonderful dining. Prices are reasonable. Nice ambiance - an unusual flavor the old pueblo - and the trains going by are NOT loud nor disturbing, but add an offbeat air to it all. Really a gem.
