A new favorite
For foodies in Seattle, a great new favorite. Clever, creative dishes with fresh local ingredients. You've never had REAL garbanzo beans until you've had them here in the shells with a great yogurt sauce. Service is knowledgeable with just the right amount of presence. If it's nice, go for the roof deck where you can enjoy the sun and get a glimpse of their rooftop garden.

We had the homemade potato chips and oysters as starters, the pork belly for the main course and the lemon cake for dessert. The pork belly stood out, having a crispy, caramelized texture that was rich and left you wanting more. Unfortunately, the lemon cake was slightly underwhelming. Overall the food was very good.
Make sure you request a seat on the patio...when the weather allows... very, very cool. We enjoyed a Beautiful night in Seattle, with Terra Plata providing really good food and a relaxed, not-too-trendy atmosphere.

Two words: Buffalo Burger
We wanted a quick meal before the ACT theatre - a ten minute walk away. Our server accommodated our timeframe perfectly. Generous helpings of veggie starters were designed to be shared - heirloom tomatoes and sublime citrus-accented beets. We both had a buffalo burger - still thinking about it two days later. Moist, rich, savory - everything I could dream of. The sunny dining room was open to the warm evening, allowing light and cross ventilation. Parking can be a challenge - walk or bus if you can.

Great birthday dinner out
We went out with a small birthday group for my partners birthday. I was amazing food, service and everyone had a great time!
Have already and will recommend Terra Plata to others for sure!

nice attention to detail, but....
they added a happy birthday greeting on the menus for my wife's birthday. but no candle in the dessert.

Fresh baked blackberry scones, rooftop brunch and a nice selection of dishes to choose from, ranging from a heavy biscuits and gravy to a lighter baked egg and kale. Attentive but not imposing service, very accommodating to our questions.

Wonderful night out
We were meeting up with friends that live abroad and wanted to show them Seattle's great culinary scene but also a lovely neighborhood spot. Given the great summer we have had, we also wanted to dine outside. Terra Plata fit the bill and was also convenient to a pre dinner drink of wine at Ferdinand the Wine Bar in Melrose Market. The restaurant was very gracious, service excellent and our food was delicious. I need to return for my own portion of the delicious things my friends were eating!

Perfect Dinner on Roof Top Deck
Excellent dinner, (charcuterie plate and water buffalo burgers) and the ambiance on the rooftop deck was unbelievable! They light the candles and fire pit right as the sun is setting - beautiful!
Also, they dropped one of our plates and came and told us right away, brought us a free appetizer to tide us over, and then gave us a free round of drinks! We might not had even known what had happened since it didn't seem like we waited that long. I appreciate their honesty and willingness to fix a mistake - Bravo Terra Plata!
Simply a great dining experience!!

Best Deck and Fit for a Foodie
I love Terra Plata. If you happen to snag a table on the deck...great for you. You will love it and it is heated, so you don't have to worry about getting a chill as fall approaches. However downstairs the floor-ceiling windows open up, so there is an amazing outdoor dining room feel to the room.
The food is lovely and the menu changes to go with the seasons, which is typical of a restaurant like this in Seattle. Great snacks at the bar and wine by the glass list...nice vegetarian-no pork options too.
Parking is a problem, but there are pay lots nearby if you find nothing on the street.

Wonderful service but overpriced
Nice rooftop deck. Great waitstaff. Music didn't fit setting or customers-- at times rap, electronic-- unpleasant.
Food tasty but overpriced. (Duck breast entree was a disappointing portion size at $30.)
Peach appetizer a winner.

Great food, great location
We have been finding ourselves going to Terra Plata more and more lately and always enjoying it. Although we have been a number of times over the last few years, we just keep recommending it more and more lately. The upstairs open-air seating is so pleasant, and the main floor seating is very nice as well. We just live a few blocks away and use it for an impromptu mid-week dinner, out of town guests, and for an evening with our 'foodie' friends. Its all good

Loved it! Great staff!
It was Superb! Nice to have the owner/chef on the outdoor grill right next to us!

Delightfully "Outside the Box"
Elements of many different genres very effectively mixed - vegetarian, locavore, Northwest cuisine, and a bit of European "nouvelle cuisine" flair. This chef's concepts do not fit easily into more traditional menu structures, and I can see why she would do best at her own location, with full creative control. The dishes are complex but not contrived, and the ingredients and preparation are impeccable.
Service was attentive, despite being very crowded (and a bit noisy) on a summer Friday. But the quality of the food is most definitely worth it - that's what's drawing the crowds. My wife, a foodie and accomplished cook herself, felt this to be one of the best 2 or 3 meals we've had in recent years - high praise from her indeed.

We ate up on the roof top
We ate up on the roof top and it was fabulous. The food was the best that we have ever had at Terra Plata. So many fresh herbs and great combinations of vegetables and fruits. The ambiance was perfect for a summer evening. I will definitely eat up there again.
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
After a few months of snooty servers, all is good now. The food and service are very good and the menu changes often enough to offer variety to returning guests.
9/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
Eating for hours.
I loved the European feel of not being rushed out of our table. Our group of 8 were allowed to sit all evening, ordering as we went along, savoring all the deliciousness without feeling that they were waiting for us to leave. Every dish was exquisite, every wine perfectly complementing it. Servers were knowledgeable about pairings. If I lived in Seattle I would eat there at least once a week. Roasted bone marrow.....yuuuumm!
9/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a delicious lunch that accomodated a range of diners (super healthy/vegetarian to meat-lover). Nice ambiance and not too noisy for our older guests.

This is a restaurant that has great food, but its seats are a little squished into the space, which has an awkward, triangular shape.

terra plata platinum
This was our first but not our last visit to Terra Plata. Everything was as a good dining experience should be. We're casual diners who do not rush through our wine and food. Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing. At no point did we feel like we on the clock. The food was superb--menu varied and servings ample. As all these reviews attest, do dine upstairs atop the roof if possible if only to witness the chef snipping herbs from just beyond table's reach. We'll be back.

Fresh and fancy
Ate on the deck for the first time... Fantastic. I checked, "kid friendly" not because they have a kids' menu, but they are friendly to kids and I jyst bring a sandwich along for our daughter.

beautiful roof top dining
Loved sitting on the deck. Gorgeous, casual setting. My halibut was outstanding.
A bit expensive, but the service was great & the food is really delicious.

It was my wife's birthday and they rolled out the red carpet for us, with a personalized menu wishing her a happy birthday. The food was exceptional and the staff was great.

Food was excellent! Ryan was our server, one of the best servers I have experienced in a long time. Wonderful roof top dinning...thank you for a wonderful evening!

At brunch, both the green
At brunch, both the green chile pork and the cheese grits were excellently prepared: the mix of ingredients and the proportions of ingredients in both were just right so that they were really flavorful. The cheese grits were easily the best I've had since The Square in Oxford, Mississippi, and that is high praise!

My favorite resturant in Seattle
The food is amazing!. Great service and great menu.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our first visit to Terra Plata, we had a wonderful time and our birthday girl was surprised to see her name on the menu.
Our waitress was wonderful and very knowledgeable of the menu and how the food was prepped and served. One of our guests needed a allergy request and food for her was met with ease. The owners were friendly and visited tables which we enjoyed meeting. We really liked the concept of sharing plates and getting to taste a little of everything we ordered. Great experience and will definitely return.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everything was Wonderful!
From the moment of arrival, the attention to detail was superb. Our waiter offered terrific recommendations. Our group of six shared a multitude of plates from appetizers to entrees to desserts. It was a wonderful evening!

My New Favorite Restaurant!
What a delightful experience we had at Terra Plata for lunch mid-week. The space is gorgeous, our server was charming and very accommodating, and the food was fantastic. Great ambiance, and it was nice and quiet the day we were there. This could be because there were only about ten people dining. I am curious to see how loud it is when full of people. In any case, I can't wait to go back. Aside from being difficult to impossible to park, I found everything about Terra Plata pleasing, right down to the shape of their beer glasses. Rustic meets classy meets eclectic meets hip meets friendly. Loved it.

Good vegetarian options
I was happy to see that the menu was largely about small plates to be shared between people, and there were many vegetarian options for small plates. My partner and I ordered the lentil soup, rapini with fried egg and peppers, and the mushroom crespini. All were very good, and not the typical vegetarian fare you find at most restaurants. For dessert we had the apple crisp with vanilla ice cream, and that ended up being my favorite dish of the night. Neither the crisp nor the ice cream were overly sweet, which made it a very nice finish to a very delightful meal.

Fabulous food, inattentive servers
Triangular restaurant with glass on two long sides is well-lit even on a rainy day. The food was inventive and delicious although the waitstaff struggled to get the order right, and there was a long wait between appetizer and entree. Options abound for carnivores and vegetarians. There are many choices for wine by the glass, craft cocktails and local microbrews. I'd happily try again, although not if I was limited for time.

Highlight of our Week
My husband and I dined here before going to a play. The food was good and fresh, and we can't praise the service enough. Servers were attentive, kept our water glasses full, and were sensitive to our time constraints. We loved the lighting and all of the wood in the decor - it made the whole place feel warm. After sharing four plates and desert, we left feeling satisfied but not bogged down. The food was both delicious and healthy. We will definitely be back!

Always on point
This crew gets it right every time. Have been here over and over and always enjoy and bring new people. Thank you.

A definite go there
Amazing food. Started with blistered peppers, yummy. Great duck and hangar steak entrées with interesting accompaniments. Seasonal fresh food, carefully prepared.

creative juices flow
took a New Yorker foodie to dinner. We were both impressed by the creativity of the dishes. Will I remember the dishes? I think so. Place got very noisy which is hard on us boomers. Great service. I'll be back.

Yummy small plates, great entrees
This menu is inventive and delicious. We enjoyed the house-made potato chips with delicious creamy dip as an appetizer. The dates wrapped in ham were an extra special treat. The risotto was creamy, had great texture, and tasted wonderful. Salmon and halibut dishes were delicious, as well, with great complimentary sides. Friendly prompt service and good cocktails topped off a great meal. Knowing everything was fresh. organic or wild, and locally sourced just enhanced the experience.

Will be back
Initially made reservations there because a friend suggested it as being a good restaurant near a theater we were going to last night. And I heard the chef from Brasa, one of my favorite old restaurants, was there. Then we heard it was very small portions for a lot of money and people were still hungry after dinner... but we still wanted to check it out. And I am very glad we did!! The brussel sprouts were excellent- would go back just for those!! I had the halibut and it was fantastic as well!! . I liked the staff too -very friendly and attentive. My only complaint was the seating- tables very close together -both parties on the sides of us could hear our conversation- didn't feel comfortable discussing everything.
10/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our friends met us at Terra Plata for dinner when they came to Seattle from San Francisco. We could not stopping talking the moment we saw each other again. The waitress never rushed us to order and gave us plenty of time to catch up. The food was excellent. My friends were very happy that we picked this excellent restaurant.
10/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great restaurant. Wine list was exceptional and the food was interesting and very good.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
Terra Plata is one of my very favorite Seattle restaurants. I especially like it as a place to meet up with friends, share several plates, and catch up. The food is always fantastic, and the restaurant lends itself to easy conversation. I especially like the range of small plates; it's easy to create a filling family style meal with several of the small plates.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
Second time at terra plata and loved everything from the salad niciose, eggs benedict and steaming hot tea. It has a friendly earthy atmosphere. Will be back again ifor sure.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
the food was delicious. thoughtful flavor combinations and great attention to vegetables that are usually not given much notice. instead of just the usual roasted brussels sprouts, it's roasted sprouts with maple syrup, preserved lemon brine, and serrano ham. really fantastic. service was excellent. only drawback is that it's capitol hill and there is very limited parking if one does not live within walking distance.

Everything right about Terra Plata
Terra Plata was recommended to me by a friend recently. We arrived an hour early but that didn't create a problem. Enjoyed special cocktails first then on to appetizers and main course. Wine list offered choices we hadn't encountered before and in fact had a wine that I would like to buy since it was superb. Only problem with this restaurant is the fact that it's not in my neighborhood.
11/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
Terra Plata is a Seattle gem - a gem my partner and I enjoy visiting at every opportunity. If you haven't tried it - do yourself a favor and visit very soon. You will not be disappointed.

The paella was fantastic! I ordered a white wine flight that was fair, not superb. I recommend the Apple cake. The decor & ambience were just right. Highly recommend.

Sunday Birthday Dinner
Delicious Food with great atmosphere. Always walk away satisfied but not overly full. Love this restaurant. Good for small groups.

Delicious, but not quite right-size
Terra Plata is always a wonderful experience- we've been there a handful of times and there is always something new and exciting to try. The staff is lovely, the restaurant also is lovely, and the food is quite outstanding. the only negative I have to provide is that although the claim is made that this is "for sharing" food, if you come here with 4 people, the portions for some plates not quite big enough to share a plate successfully all around- i.e., we got 3 scallops on a plate to share with 4 people, that's rather awkward. I love sharing plates and trying more things, but I think if you are going to charge the prices they do, the plates need to be a bit better right-size for the party.

Wonderful ambiance, great food, superb service! Michael, one of the server assistants was tremendous-courteous, efficient, nice smile.
