Torrisi lives up to its reputation
The food was great, as was the service. At one point we wanted skim milk for a cappuccino and they were willing to go next door to get some. The store ended up being closed but it's the thought that counts! The servers were helpful without being in your face. It seems like a great date spot though I was there with a friend. We actually sat at the counter and though I'm not a huge fan of doing so, it was great to see the servers prepare each item so carefully. Again, awesome experience and now that you can get a reservation, totally worth it.

A steal at $75/pp!
Every course was absolutely delicious and the service was truly impeccable.

This was the last meal we ate while in NYC before heading home. For my wife and I, the most enjoyable aspect of any trip is the food, and we're always looking for unforgettable experiences, the kind that you'll never forget, and Torrisi is definitely a restaurant we will not forget. Everything was so original in its execution, but the tastes were somehow very familiar to the palate. And the dessert we had, the lemon cake is by far the best dessert i've ever had, and the my last favorite dessert lasted me almost a decade.

Because of the tasting menu, I though it was a restaurant where he had the dress-up nicely. We end up eating a the bar where some chef are puting their final touch to the plates. It was a choc at first but we had good time.

All around top notch. The menu is great and the everything very fresh. Plenty of food. A bit high for my budget but for those special occasions well worth it.

Lunch was an amazing variety of tastes starting with homemade mozzarella that melted in your mouth. Everything else that followed was outstanding. The gnocchi were to die for. Wine recommendations by waiter were spot on, service was excellent but not overbearing. Our reservation was the last for lunch that day so it was not too crowed which was nice. Will be back whenever in NYC. Thanks to Colamecco for recommending some time ago!

Perfect date night
Absolutely lovely from start to finish. Soft yellow lights give everything a warm glow. Service is careful and efficient, but never overbearing. Food delicious. And you can hear your dinner companion(s)!

I couldn't believe that the place wasn't jam-packed on a weekend at lunch. This is a gem -- from service to food to ambiance.

Lovely for a date
Great cozy atmosphere with unique menu. Loved every dish

Inventive, delicious food
The food was inventive, delicious and after seven courses, very filling. The service started out well, but fell off as the meal progressed, perhaps because we were the last seating of the night. By the end of the meal, the service was lackadaisical. The dish with spring peas and broth was delicious, the beef main was perfectly done and tender.
6/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
Exceeded expectations (which were high). All the dishes were so well thought out and executed. The service was great and you felt like you were at someone's home but with gourmet food. They have alot of special touches and remembered we were celebrating our anniversary. Loved it! We will be back.
6/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
What a wonderful place. The tiny ambiance and the food are a real treat, lots of small dishes with beautiful experiments, some simple, some complex - all brilliant. The chef really love his work, and it shows! It all makes you even forgive the cold and arrogant service (is that NYC?).....but we definitely will come back.
6/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
We went for my husband's birthday because we absolutely love quality Italian food. It really outperformed our already high expectations. Each dish was inventive, thoughtful and expertly executed. It really was an amazing experience - both from the service/ambiance to the amazing dishes. Highly recommend.

Died and went to heavan.
We had eaten a large lunch earlier because of a family graduation so we didn't expect to indulge.....but we couldn't help ourselves.
Torrisi---between the incredible fresh creative plates, the impeccable service and the atmosphere (great tunes) makes us feel like we died and went to heaven.
6/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
This place never disappoints. Always a new experience - they keep it interesting and 'fresh'. I have dined there about 6 times. Out of town visitors love it.
6/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent food and service. Would go back in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.

I've been to Torrisi a few
I've been to Torrisi a few times now and each time they provide an amazing array of food. The warm mozzarella is my all time favorite but this past visit i'd say the Corn & Coriander sheeps milk ricotta gnocchi were out of this world! If you've never been Torrisi is a definite must for foodies! I've never had a bad experience and if it wasnt so expensive I would probably be there at least 3x a week.
7/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
For lunch on a weekend there
For lunch on a weekend there is no equal. The food is spaced, not heavy, with exquisite attention to detail while simultaneously clever.
7/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food at this restaurant was among the best we've ever had in New York (after living here for 14 years).
7/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I cannot believe how excellent this restaurant is in every way. All the selections in the multicourse prix fixe were absolutely delectable. The service was virtually flawless, and the intimate space seemed to hark back to another era. The only suggestion I would make is that they add some more reasonably priced wines to their wine list. They only have a couple of wines in the $50-$75 range, and most are over $100.
7/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Dinner at Torrisi was fantastic! I took my friend there for a thank you dinner. We both thought that the menu was phenomenal. They don't give much information when you look at it but the servers do a great job explaining each dish. The warm, made to order, mozzarella was a fabulous start to the meal. The little box of desserts that come with the check with my name on it was a nice touch for the end and everything was great in between. The only negative was there was a small mix-up with the wine that I ordered. While it was realized at the end when a fresh bottle was being opened I have no idea if I paid the price for the wine I requested or the one I actually drank. The receipt wasn't itemized so it was unclear.

Best Italian food in Manhattan. Service is impeccable and the tasting menu is one inventive, perfect dish after another.
7/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
So lucky to get a reservation!
Every bit as wonderful as all the reviews said. We were staying nearby and walked over. From the moment we entered we were treated like the best of the best. When we mentioned an anniversary, we were seated at a perfect corner table, and sent off with a little box of tiny pastries. We floated on air for the entire evening. Lovely in every way, and the food is inspired without being the least trendy or self-conscious. Both of us floated out into the evening with promises to return.

Torissi; Romance in NYC
We had such a great time at Torissi! Kamden, our waiter, was the best... Looking forward to heading back next time we are in NYC... Great food, romantic atmosphere and excellent service; Who could argue with that!

Bright Spot on Mulberry Street
A special restaurant that shouldn't be missed. A tiny place, big on quality, service and atmosphere. Smaller than my last apartment in Chelsea. The kitchen is in the same room as the dining. The Pre Fix menu is a real NYC bargain, which includes 4 appetizers, pasta course, main course and dessert for $80. Have your mozzarella appetizer made to order, that is, as soon as you put in the order they will make the cheese! the ricotta gnocchi were like little pillows of ricotta cheese. Everything was spectacular. Couldn't stop raving about it to friends.

RECOMMEND FOR ANY TYPE OF SPECIAL OCCASSION AS WELL AS DESIRING A SPECIAL DINNING EXPERIENCE.

This place never disappoints, every morsel of everything I put in my mouth is so amazing!
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
The highlight of our dinner was obviously the food. Really excellent tasting food. Everything was cooked to perfection and presently very nicely.
8/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Hands down, one of the most inventive American-Italian restaurants in the States. Their unique New-York spin on classic Italian flavors will leave you feeling nostalgic, reinvigorated, and content.
8/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Intimate and outrageously
Intimate and outrageously good food. You surrender to the chef as you pick your main course and appetizer and then the plates start arriving. Each one better than the next. Nothing better than sampling many different bites but not feeling stuffed....just satisfied. Can't wait to go back. Service was great - friendly, prompt and they knew their stuff. Also knew when to back off and when to approach.
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Not the bargain that it once
Not the bargain that it once was, but the food is becoming more sophisticated. Everything was delicious and the service was gracious and friendly. The wine list has nothing under $60, which is more than a bit annoying.

One of the best dinners my wife and I have had and we travel and dine quite frequently. Thank you for a great night with great food and service.

Best dinner of my life...period.
Torrisi went ahead and gave my wife and me the best dinner we have ever had for our two-year wedding anniversary. Every single bite was perfection; the combinations, presentation, wine, and most important, TASTE, were flawless. All EIGHT courses were sent from heaven to this nook of a restaurant on Mulberry. There is a reason they are number one in NYC, there is a reason why I booked my reservation the day it became available (and they only had one six o'clock table left), it is because they are invested in their product and your experience as a patron. Worth every penny.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Creative and delicious!
A really modern twist on Italian. Creative, cutting-edge, and absolutely delicious. Our portions were perfect, and the wine selections were high end. I will go for lunch every time I'm in the city now.

Another great lunch at Torrisi
I really really like Torrisi - so much so that I actually had to book another flight to NYC so that I could take my husband there for our Anniversary lunch.
We went there for lunch and had the tasting menu which was amazing - a few changes from last time I was there but the new dishes were equally amazing - we shared the two mains which were duck and fish as we both wanted to try them.
The antipasti were good with a great mix of flavors. The Crepe Cake dessert was perfect as an ending to our lunch.
With the menu we had a lovely white from Russian River - sadly not the one I had last time but still amazing.
All in all, I would still book another flight to go visit Torrisi as it's lovely, the service is perfect and I just like it there.

Exceptional Tasting Menu
Although there are numerous Italian restaurants in the Little Italy area, there are none that can compare to Torrisi's level of food. The lunch tasting menu was quite extensive and satisfied us beyond our dreams. The opening dish of warm fresh mozarella was just the beginning to a delightful meal that we enjoyed tremendously. The fresh pasta dish with lobster was quite light and the chile peppers gave it a welcome kick! Friendly and warm staff added to the experience. Only negative is the restaurant is so small you are extremely close to your fellow diner's table...
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Just a fantastic dinner. Food was amazing, service was perfect. My only complaint was the wine list on their website had some bottles that were much more affordable than anything on the wine list.
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Best in NYC. Best! Go here first!
Torrisi is my favorite restaurant in the whole city. Beats other hot tables like Marea, NoMad, Calliope, and PokPok. Go here twice, in fact, since they change the menu daily! Where else is the mozzarella still warm because they just made it? Where else do you sit next to the chef? Go here, no excuses, but sign up early as tables go very fast especially on weekends. Lunch is a good deal and the same menu tho! Not only is the food awesome but the staff are cool, fun, and relaxed. Did I say best in the city?

Very Good but not 5 stars
Food was very good, but not great. Service was impeccable.
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very intimate with amazing food and service. From amuse bouche to parting gift of candies, a wonderful, special experience. Thank you!!
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Close, but no cigar
Our Torissi dinner had so much going for it - intimate dining space, great staff, exquisite cuisine…but the horrific piped in trendy music obliterated the server's description of the courses and made diners yell at one another rather than relax into a lovely meal. This small correction could make the difference between a passable and memorable evening at Torissi..
10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Looks can be deceiving from facade
Fantastic fresh daily tasting menu filled with creative and cleaver courses
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Exquisite cuisine,Personble service
We had a wonderful dine at Torissi. It is a special experience and expected that reflected in our bill.
Our only issues, however were that the wine prices are exceptionally high (not much available for under $100). Other fine dining restaurants at least offer a more broad range of options.
Also, the service was almost too efficient......for the caliber of meal it was, the courses were served in rapid succession. We were in and out of there in what felt like too quick a period of time. For > $400/2 price tag, we would like to savor and linger longer.

Something to talk about ...
Every aspect of the experience — from start to finish — a work of art. It's a dining experience like no other and you'll be left talking about it for days. The various servers deservingly present each dish as a masterpiece. It's an evening of throwbacks from the ambiance to the music. You'll encounter interesting textures with penetrating flavors. Mozzarella Da Vero balanced perfectly with tomato-butter crostini. Arancini with mushrooms, quail eggs, and an onion broth. With each bite, it's as if I was breathing in an elaborate culinary journey. Butternut tortellini prepared by a delicate hand: palate-slamming sweetness balanced nicely with the broth of oyster mushrooms. Creamy polenta blended nicely with toothy mushrooms. Truly exquisite.

Lunch at Torrisi still amounts
Lunch at Torrisi still amounts to one of the best deals, with the highest quality of food and service, in NYC. A must for a lazy Saturday lunch

Great place for a romantic dinner
9 course meal for my girlfriend's 25th, food was amazing. Portions were rather large, we didn't finish everything on each plate and still we left stuffed. Could have done without the Monkfish, which was okay. The steak was done perfectly, it tasted amazing. Atmosphere was really quaint and romantic, we could see the chefs making the food, server was very attentive without being overbearing.
Only complaint about this place was the price. I assumed we would be spending a lot, considering the size of the restaurant and the neighborhood, but we got the bill and it came out to over $300 without tip for just the two of us. I have spent that much money on dinner before, and then some, but I thought that might have been a bit excessive.

Gem in Little Italy
This is a unique and special place. From the outside, one imagines a Godfather-like scenario (black out curtains, some mystery behind the lace ). Inside a select group of diners (only 4 for the first hour) in a tiny place, surrounded by shelves of ingredients, are served 7-9 courses with impeccable service, outstanding ingredients, and wonderful pacing of the meal. The antipasti (fresh amazing mozzarella, oxtail, etc, four in sequence) were superb, ditto pasta (duck) and meat course. Only the indifferent dessert tart disappointed. Food is prepared downstairs, then an upstairs chef does final plating while you watch (and salivate). An exceptional experience, $70 for lunch.

Great tasting menu
The food at Torrisi's is exceptional. The fixed course dinner is beautifully conceived and executed. Highlights included squid ink pasta with seafood bolognese and oxtail in phyllo dough with jamaican spices. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Only negative was the absence of reasonably priced wines by the bottle or the glass. While the wine list is extensive with many excellent labels, it would be considerate to add more bottles below $100.
