Great mothers day
Great food and a nice atmosphere inside. The outside of the building is a bit run down but inside is very nice.

We live in Kirkland and drive to Olympia at any excuse just for lunch at the Dockside. Love the place!

First time patrons
We took our daughter out with 2 of her friends for her 25th birthday. It was a very memorable meal! The menu online seemed limited, but once we arrived, they had additional seasonal specials for appetizers, salads and entrees. The noise level was perfect for conversation; the service was great; our server was knowledgeable, helpful and personable. Everything we tried to wonderful. I think the most memorable thing for me was the dressings and sauces. Since we were all new, we all shared so we could all get a taste. I didn't taste anything I wouldn't order myself. Plan on going back for another special occasion.

First time - Nice! - will return
Just moved to Olympia downtown and excited about trying new places. Found this on yelp with very good reviews. Went there on a beautiful warm night. Right by the marina, so nice view of the water, etc.
Food was very good. Fresh small baguette served with olive oil dipping sauce with red peppers, garlic. We had the copper river salmon that was perfectly cooked and served with nettles and morel mushrooms. Wonderful pairing. Guests had halibut and clams and said they were very tasty. I tried the clams. Well prepared with a hint of saffron. We shared the Olympic Mountain Jack Daniels ice cream for dessert. YUM. Can't wait to return as the weather gets even better. You can sit outside, but you can't have alcohol out there.

Second time was even more charming!
Many thanks to the staff and chef who all contributed to make our lunch an amazing experience! This was our second visit for me and my boyfriend. We are now both fans! The cuisine was superb, the ambience was special, and the folks there were totally gracious and extremely professional!

Everything about this restaurant was great. The table was ready when we arrived, the server was professional and personable and the food was terrific. From start to finish, we were impressed on all levels. Definitely worth a visit.

Dinner at Dockside Bistro
Great place for Saturday night dinner. Very pleasant atmosphere. Excellent food and wine. Service was excellent; just the right amount of attention without hovering. Have been here before and will eat here again.

Believe the good reviews!
We found Dockside Bistro online. The comments were positive and enthusiastic. We decided to go there for our 10th anniversary. Score! The food was superb. It was perfectly prepared and presented. We started with a hot crab artichoke dip. Fantastic. My husband had the bacon-wrapped elk ribeye steak and I had Copper River salmon on black rice with a nettle sauce. It was one of the best meals we've ever had. The portions were just right. We ate it all. We would have anyway because it was so darn good. Our server Sandra was phenomenal. She was right on with timing, recommendations, humor, and attentiveness. My pinot noir was tasty with the salmon. Don't wait for a special occasion to eat at Dockside Bistro! Go now. Be Happy Foodies.

Upscale, Sophisticated Elegance
'A New York Level of Sophisticated Elegance' was our impression of Dockside Bistro when we pulled off the freeway for lunch on our way to a weekend getaway for my husband's birthday. With secret hide-away dining nooks in the bar, and front row seating to Budd's Inlet we couldn't have been more delighted with the setting, the sophistication, and the superior service.
Docikside Bistro is perfect in ever way for a ★★★★★ 5-star dining experience near the state capitol. We were so impressed by the wine list and the impeccably prepared fare. Our compliments to the imaginative chef, the delightfully pleasant server, and the wine steward. Priceless? Not really . . . $50 for two for 1/2 bottle of Washington 'red', tip, and wonderful lunch.
6/26/2013 4:00:00 PM
This was the third time my husband and I have eaten at Dockside. We have been so impressed each time. The service is always wonderful and the food is fabulous. I do recommend reservations though. This is our favorite date spot by far. We always feel that we get amazing food for the price and there is always way more than enough to eat.

Keep Coming Back
Our meal once again met every expectation for our party. The four of us chose a seafood selection and were treated to great presentations and flavors. The wine selection was comprehensive and the bar service complete. Our server was knowledgeable and provided us with great service. We will, keep coming back to the Dockside Bistro.

Dockside Bistro is great!
We had a very good dining experience at Dockside Bistro for our Anniversary.
The Elk carpaccio was excellent, and the salmon wonderful. We had great service, and the wine selection and assistance with dietary needs was excellent. We recommend the Dockside Bistro when looking for a nice place to dine in Olympia.

Great food, service
Although the building didn't look like much from the outside, the decor inside more than made up for it. The food was delicious - we ate everything (no take-home boxes for us!). Our waiter was great at recommending wines to go with our menu choices. The menu is a little on the expensive side, but perfect for a special occasion.

Outstanding food except the
Outstanding food except the Caesar Salad was not up to past standards. The lettuce was limp and the salad was warm.

Food was generally good but
Food was generally good but somewhat bland. Service was above average, albeit on the slow side in terms of the time it took footer the food to arrive. Or server was excellent demonstrating great customer skills and menu awareness. The best part of the meal was the ambiance!
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food is generally good, however the seafood cocktail was swimming in heavy sauce. The cocktail didn't have much seafood in it, the dish was overwhelmed by the sauce. The food can be exceptional or mediocre. Ask your server for recommendations. The bar area is small and enjoyable for a cocktail, or glass of wine.

Lots of variety, creatively presented and tasty.

Perfect lunch spot
My friend and I were charmed by Dockside Bistro. My halibut was perfectly prepared, our waiter attentive and kind, and we were allowed to linger over coffee and stories as long as we wished. I would definitely go there again.

It had been years since our last visit and were pleasantly surprised with the great food and wonderful service. We will definitely be back and will recommend this restaurant to our friends.

I took my son and daughter for her 22nd Birthday Dinner. We all got something different so we could taste them all. The food was truly delicious. We would definitely return for special occasions. The location right on the board walk overlooking the boats was awesome.great service too.

Quiet Dinner with Sales Reps
Wanted to give out-of-towners a good sense of Olympia's location surrounded by water, but we really lack restaurants with dramatic views in this town. Dockside Bistro, right beside the boardwalk and marina, was a good combination of waterside ambiance and good food. The well-edited wine list yielded a bottle that would go nicely with the duck, chicken and halibut entrees we ordered. While all three entrees were declared good choices, all three of us agreed that the 5-Spice Duck was the best of the lot. Nowadays, if I can find delicious food plus wine for approx. $50 per person, I'm well satisfied.

I thought the restaurant was beautifully decorated. The food was very good, but I have had better.

Dockside Bistro-Olympia's Best
Dockside Bistro is the best restaurant in Olympia. My husband and I have dined there many times and have found the food and service to be consistently marvelous. The wine list is outstanding and the cooking utilizes the freshest ingredients in a highly imaginative and intriguing way. The location is wonderful, with stunning views of the Olympics on a clear day. I highly recommend this establishment.
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
We ate here in April for our own anniversary and then last Saturday night with some friends for their anniversary. Definitely a great place for special occasions. The food is beyond delicious and the fact that they use local foods as much as possible is always a plus for me. Another huge bonus is that I can make a reservation on line AND they are open on Sundays! It takes us an hour to drive to Olympia, so it is great to have restaurants that are worth it.

Great Place to Celebrate
Upon first look, on the outside, I did not expect much in the way of ambiance and service. As the saying goes, one cannot tell a book by its cover. Upon entering and being seated, I was immediately reminded of the bistros I had visited in France in my younger days. As my daughter, when making the reservation, told that it was to be a special occasion, my birthday, our table was appropriately decorated for the occasion. The service was excellent as was the food and drink. On this day, a pianist offered mood setting music. All in all, this was a experience to be remembered and if in the area in the future I would definitely revisit this restaurant.

Romantic Dinner Spot for Two
My husband and I went to the Dockside Bistro for our 10 year anniversary. The atmosphere was better than I could have hoped. The last time I was in this building was years ago when it was an ice cream and coffee shop. It was cool, comfortable and cozy. There was an anniversary card waiting at our table. The waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and came back to check on us and pour more champagne throughout the dinner. We had left my daughter at the sitter and I would not recommend bringing children. It was the perfect atmosphere for a quite, romantic, dinner with a beautiful view. We were also very impressed with the food. I had the duck and it was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a couple's special occasion.

We had dinner at Dockside Bistro to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. The food and service were both perfect. We will definitely go again.

Fine Dining At The Dock
Everything was so good. Salad with the freshest scallop I had every eaten was paired with pork belly and arugula. Alaskan salmon, also the best I ever had was deep orange, thick, moist, and cooked to perfection. Topped with garnish of wild mushrooms. My partner had perfectly grilled Colorado rack of lamb- very tender, juicy, and excellent flavor. Dessert was made to order freshly baked huckleberry crisp topped with large scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Hard to find service this good.
I was in Milan Italy this spring and learned just how lousy service is on average in the USA. I was pleasantly surprised when I found it exists in Oly. Quaint, clean, and a nice marina view. You can't go wrong here.
8/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food quality was excellent. I'm only a visitor to this area on business, so it was a lucky find. My group of four all enjoyed the entire experience. We wud highly recommend it.
9/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Extensive wine list, nice marina and sunset view, delightful quiet interior, AND fine food, whether you are craving oysters or elk! Had not been there for over a year - were surprised by all-around upgrade. Can't wait to go back - best in Olympia to make every meal a special occasion.
9/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Dockside was romantic, the menu and food were probably the best in Olympia yet the atmosphere was comfortable and the staff was professional without being stuffy. We look forward to returning soon.

their filet mignon, elk steak and oysters are super delicious!!!

A brisk Friday evening at the Dockside. Exquisite!
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Enjoyed dinner very much. Quiet and nicely lit - dark, but not so dark that you could not read the menu. Fabulously prepared seafood. Perhaps not "outside the box" cooking but really nicely done and really delicious. great wine list with half bottle options that were also outstanding (not just the full bottles) -- good for mid week dining. Service was very good.
10/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everything about the evening was outstanding. Service, food, wine list, and atmosphere. The filet mignon was prepared exactly to our order and with the wonderful sauce added, it was the best I've had. The sauteed greens were so well flavored and seasoned that even a veggie hater would have loved them. If I had to complain about something, I'd say the room is just a slight bit too dark, it is a beautiful space and a little bit more light would have brought the colors out more.

Dockside Bistro review
Took my wife there for her birthday.
Food and service were outstanding.
Wine list was not extensive but had a nice selection of good quality wines.
All courses from appetizers to desserts were very well prepared.
Highly recommend this restaurant. Will definitely come back.
10/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Another great meal!
I love the menu, with the inclusion of fresh, local ingredients in most of their dishes and always a wonderful special or two. Everything is always exceptionally made. I ordered the special bouillabaisse, which was absolutely delicious, however about a third of the clams didn't open. I mentioned it to the server and she arrived shortly with a fresh bowl of clams, many more than hadn't opened, along with apologies from the chef.
We ordered cocktails before dinner and while tasty, they both seemed to be quite weak and watered down tasting....like they'd been left to sit in the shaker on the ice. Probably won't spend $11 for one again. We had a lovely Albarino with our dinner. The wine selections always have something interesting to try.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
This place is great. Service is attentive without hovering; an error in our order was quickly fixed. The elk duet (bacon-wrapped ribeye with bacon bordelaise, an elk kabob skewered on a green on a scallion and topped with pesto, plus sautéed vegetables, parsnip brulé & roast fingerling potatoes. My companions enjoyed their meals (filet mignon with truffle sauce, potato cake & green beans, and pear-gorgonzola ravioli with prawns for the other).
The main dining room is spacious and has a view out over the waterfront. The ambience was pleasant and was fairly quiet. The lights were a bit low; it was so romantically atmospheric that I couldn't really see the food. That said, I'd be happy to return to the Dockside when I'm back in Olympia.
11/4/2013 4:00:00 PM
I was presently surpirsed to find a restaurant in Ol that could compete with the local food scene of Seattle. The food was decadent as we started out with the tenderloins and saucy rice, enjoyed gobs of flavor in the fried goat cheese balls and roasted beat salad and were all overwhelming satisified with moutwhwatering lamb, filet, salmon and halbit (I wouldn't get the halibit again; it was nice but preferred the samlon, lamb & filet). The waitstaff was also knowledgable about the wine, friendly and attentive. The first two courses made it an easy decision to try 3 desserts. I'm definatley going back here and showing my 'city' friends what they are missing out on!
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
The hallmark of Dockside is the consistency of the food and service. Both are uniformly excellent. A wonderful place for a special occasion
11/13/2013 4:00:00 PM
The service was very good throughout the evening.
Scallop and Pork Belly with quail egg; scallop was perfect; pork belly was very good.
Filet Mignon: She said it was the best she's ever had -- I had a bite and thought it was really good, cooked perfectly.
Elk Duet: I'd give it 8 or 9/10. Not the best thing I've ever had but I was not disappointed in any way. Again, the cut of elk, cooked perfectly.
Key lime pie: good but wished crust was graham
Creme Brulee: garnished with strawberry was nice addition; slight hint of orange liquor, but about what one would expect when ordering creme brulee

Twice a year splurge
There is no better food in Olympia than at the Dockside Bistro, always fresh, incredibly prepared with stellar service. That said, it is very expensive for our little town and though I'd love to go more than once or twice a year I cannot possibly afford it. 12 dollars for 4 oysters Rockefeller and 10 dollars for a side salad is super steep, in addition to a $28 entree. I'd probably visit more often if the prices came down about 15 %.
