Everything about this place is wonderful. The Duck Ravioli is a must try!

We were at the GP and went to this recommeded restaurant. It is small, quaint and definitely a major neighborhood spot. The food and service were outstanding. It is small (maybe 10 or 12 tables) but it seemed larger and the tables were well spaced. There were 5 of us at dinner and we had 5 different main courses. Everyone was very pleased with their selection Also, very good wine and beer selection. Will definitely return next year.

Neighborhood Gem , Big City Taste
A taxi ride away from the downtown hotels but well worth it. Imaginative chef, talented beyond his years. Food as art, a luxury for the taste buds. Friendly, approachable service...all at a moderate price range.
This is a chef to watch...

Have been twice as a foursome. Fabulous fresh flavours, every entree and main course equally delicious! Small and intimate with great service. Looking forward to the next time!!

We were visiting for only 3 days and this is the best meal I've ever had. The creativeness of the dishes that was so amazing. It isn't pretentious. Everything was executed perfectly. After reading the reviews, everyone seem to love the scallop/sesame appetizer dish. I liked this dish, but the black sesame paste overwhelmed the delicate taste of the fresh scallop. The spotlight was on the main entrees. We got the pork belly (today's special) and the lobster sausage in three different fennel compliments. I cannot really describe the dish because on the surface, it's very simple, but there's so many different dimensions to these dishes. It's just a place to be experienced. We had banana creme brulee that was torched perfectly thick and brown.

Prettiest salad I have every eaten
My husband and I had just 2 days in Montreal. Our meal at Les Deux Singes de Montarvie was wonderful! Would go back next time we are in Montreal.

I had a delicious meal here with my foodie husband.
We were a bit surprised by the ride in the cab as it was in a residential area but nice cool area sort of like "the village" of
Small place but warm they had the table ready with my name written on a little chalkboard.
Scallop ceviche was great. They were out of Boar so my husbands second choice was the Hanger steak some type of chimchurry (sp?). I enjoyed the special tile fish with pistachio humans and other unique combinations such as a curry and other spices that just worked magically.
My husband says "every bite was an amazing journey".
I wanted to lick my plate dry but didn't want to give Americans a bad reputation !
7/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
everything was amazing. the food, wine and service was great. we have no complains and would go again any day.

Fresh and Imaginative plates
YUM! Loved my ceviche - extremely fresh scallops mixed with original fruits and vegetables. Each item bursting in your mouth. Husband had the duck ravioli - it is their most popular dish. I had it as the main course. Flavors were unbelievable, a good mix of texture. I wished they had put more duck in my raviolis....they were a tad flat. The filling is not duck confit as I expected but a mousse or pate of duck. Either way, I'd order it again! My husband had the slow cooked venison. A big hit as well. This is my new favorite restaurant in Montreal!
7/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was fantastic; highly recommend the duck ravioli.

Great last minute find!
We visited this restaurant on a long weekend to Montreal. We originally had reservations at another restaurant, but had to cancel last minute due to a change in plans. So, we were looking around for a good restaurant at the last minute and came across Les Deux Singes. We were so happy that we stumbled across this restaurant. The food was truly amazing! Get the duck ravioli appetizer because it is one of the best things we've ever had. I'm sorry that we don't live closer to Montreal. If we did, we would be here often!
7/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Not generally a fan of French food but in Montreal it seemed the thing to do. So glad we did. Great food, which was incredibly creative in preparation and presentation. We tried things that were prepared in ways we never heard of Chocolate dessert was the best thing I ever ate. Risotto was to die for. Duck ravioli persuaded my friend that he was wrong and does like duck.Portions are small but food rich so it all worked out fine. We were with friends and shared several things so we all got to try everything we ordered. Highly recommend this approach because everything was so great. Our waitress, Hillary was helpful and charming. Even the wine was reasonable and delicious. A very definite and enthusiastic recommendation !

Duck ravioli was incredible and the wild boar is to die for. Lobster sausage had a lot of fennel (3ways)if u are into fennel.

I must return!
Great vibe at this small restaurant. Nada the owner and Sen the chef made is feel so welcome. The scallop ceviche was the best I've had. My friend had the tomato bone marrow soup and she hasn't eaten meat in 4 years!! That's how good he food was!! This is a must if you are in Montreal for a few days.
8/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I visited this restaurant on our last night in Montreal and the experience was amazing. The food is very good! The restaurant is a little small, so making reservations is a good idea. The wine list is not very extensive, but the food, service and ambiance are incredible. I would highly recommend

Inventive food & Intimate Setting
Wonderful restaurant with excellent attentive & friendly service. The food was beautiful and interesting.

Great dinner, great atmosphere
We all - a family of 4 with two teenage kids - had a great night out. If you like great food with a creative twist, don't hesitate. We chose different appetizers and main courses and tasted all of them. Beautiful presentation, innovative combinations, and it all worked out perfectly. We particularly loved the scallop ceviche, the duck ravioli with foie gras for appetizers. The boar belly, the risotto and the beef hanger were just amazing. Deserts were great too : we tried two french classics, both again came with creative innovations that worked brilliantly. A very friendly team cooking in the open kitchen in front of your eyes, small restaurant with only a few tables, dinner in a friendly atmosphere.

Spectacular service and food
Highly recommend this restaurant. Intimate room with cool vibe, innovative dishes, outstanding staff. When we weren't sure which red wine to order, our waiter brought several tastings to the table. He consulted with the chef when we mentioned we were interested in some jazz clubs afterwards and wrote up a list. We commented on the phenomenal light fixtures and he came back with the artist's business card. The chef came out to chat and inquire about our meal. And they brought us complimentary glasses of port to accompany our dessert. Of the five dishes my husband and I had, 4 were excellent and 1 was a bit of a miss, but kudos for the attempt at doing something innovative with quail. We will be back and will send others.

A Cute Place with Nice Music
Les Deux Singes has a very fun atmosphere. When we went both windows were wide open. There were wood block on the table with the names of people who had reservations. The servers were very friendly and helpful. GREAT food. I had duck raviolis with foie gras creme sauce. My husband had rabbit that he liked very much.It is really nice place
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Top-notch food and affordable wine!
This has been the best restaurant we have been to so far in Montreal. The seating is a casual bistro style. We had an excellent tomato soup ($9) with bone marrow that was topped with creme fraiche and greens (one of the best soups we have ever had so we had to order another). My wife had a mushroom risotto with mozzarella and pecorino. I had a duck foie gras ravioli ($25). I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is in or passing through Montreal.

Above and beyond
A friendly welcome set the scene for what was to be a wonderful evening, both in terms of food and service. The mojito had the perfect amount of fresh mint, the warm bread and complimentary hors d'oeuvre kept us satisfied until our starters arrived, the presentation and flavours of both the starters and main meals could not be faulted.
Deserts were not considered as the meals were very filling however the staff could not let a birthday go unrecognised and presented not only myself but also my husband with a small desert in celebration. A very nice touch.
Special note must be made of the service, the young lady who looked after us was attentive without being imposing.

memorable dining experince
A group of 3, had dinner that was quite delicious. The food was fresh and expertly prepared. The dishes were beautiful to look at as well. The restaurant though tiny, had a great ambiance. From the amuse bouche to our dessert, we were delighted! Our server could not have been more attentive and helpful. I would highly recommend Les Deux Singes de Montarvie.

Bar seating is optimal.
I grabbed a seat at the bar as a solo traveller. With a great open kitchen, it was a pleasure to see all my meals come together! The chef/hand were friendly and keen for a chat. There is a small, but varied menu. The meal itself was great; two courses are ample. Slightly on the expensive side.
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Wonderful & warm
It was definitely worth the ranking of being the best restaurant in Montreal. We were visiting from London UK and have eaten in lots of recommended restaurants and yes, this one is truly lovely. Nice ambience, wait staff was knowledgeable, friendly and the food was really very good.
9/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
New on our Montreal list
Our first time at this restaurant but surely not our last. The talented chef pleased us with all his offerings from amuse-bouche to dessert. The wine list could use some filling out, though. Besides the food, we liked the choice of music - no loud techno beat here to make conversation impossible.
9/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Cool resto in the Plateau
Duck Raviloi with foie gras is outstanding. They changed our reservation easily to an earlier time, a few hours before our reservation, which was appreciated. Even if "fully booked" on Open Table, worth calling to check directly for a reservation. They have a few seats at a tiny bar if you are solo or a couple.
I will return.
9/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a wonderful meal. The waitress did a great job recommending dishes, we loved them all. Each dish was decorated so nice, too.

Funky feel, fabulous food
I rate this place outstanding in context of its ambitions. The idea is to serve high-end food in a colourful but unpretentious environment at an off-the-beaten track location (that is, not in the business district or the downtown port area.) The result is that your great food is comparatively inexpensive; it would normally cost me about double to get a similar meal at a "fancy" restaurant.
You should expect what comes with the package: there are not many tables and they are close; both the menu and the wine list are brief; the available wines tend toward the inexpensive (but I quite enjoyed mine, the cheapest they had.) The service was both friendly and professional, and not over-stretched.
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great "Hip" neighborhood spot
Imaginative and beautifully prepared menu. Far above what you might expect when you just ound this "funky" offbeat looking space. Small so be sure to get reservation...we saw many being turned away. One of best meals we (foodies) ever had. Great and friendly service
9/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
What a pleasant surprise!Unpretentious location and
The soup of the day
was an unforgettable tomato concoction which in
fact should become a regular item on their
menu. The main courses ,(both on the regular
menu)one steak and
one hangar steak were flavoured to perfection.
The former is more suitable for a larger
appetite.Even the bread was crusty and tasty.
Alas, neither of us had room for dessert.
The restaurant is a pleasure
partly because it is so small and not noisy...
in fact it possesses a dignified serenity for such
simple decor. All in all,a great dining experience!
Note:Not for those who prefer bland or slightly

What a great find! My son
What a great find! My son visited Montreal in August and this restaurant was recommended by his hotel. After he raved, we had to try it and did! The duck ravioli was absolutely delicious! And a shrimp bisque was possibly the best bisque I've ever had! Everything else was wonderful as well. It's tiny so make reservations early...It's a real gem!

Wonderful neighborhood restaurant
We wanted a restaurant in a Montreal neighborhood, and discovered this little gem through TripAdvisor. It was a reasonable cab ride from downtown; food was absolutely wonderful, nice wine, and fabulous dessert. Would definitely return if in the area again, and recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely, evening.

Excellent boutique restaurant
I brought my wife to Les Deux Singes de Montarvie for her birthday, and we had a wonderful time! The food was excellent! Service was great. It felt like dining in a chief friend's house that everything was made just for you.
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
We have never been to Montreal, but I happened to find Les Deux Singes on Yelp. I am SO happy that we dined with them. The meal was truly incredible, from the fresh made pumpkin soup to the lobster sausage. I can't recommend this restaurant enough, and will certainly do so to friends who travel to Montreal!

Meal highlights were duck
Meal highlights were duck Ravioli with fois gras & braised quail done in coconut curry. Also terrific was the veal with blue cheese.
Excellent attentive service. Friendly owner and a chef who has an eye for detail with great presentation & even better delivery. Well done! Do not repeat restaurants in general when visiting Montreal (too many to chose from) but this one is a must.

Fabulous Food & Service
When you walk in, your parties name is written on a small chalkboard on your table. What a personal touch! The wait staff is excellent. We were served by Sean, and the owner also visited our table on several occasions. Both gave a service that was beyond reproach. The food was fabulous. The soup of the day was AMAZING, as were the salad and the duck ravioli. The boar belly was also excellent, and so were both steaks on the menu and the risotto. Everything was perfectly cooked. The desserts also had the entire table raving. The chef came out to visit our table and the end, as did the owner. I have never been so well treated at a restaurant. We will definitely be going back!
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Exquisite food with a menu full of diverse flavors. The entrees complimented the main dishes perfectly and the dessert was some of the best around. Wonderful, cozy feel with small capacity and intimate service attending you perfectly. Would highly recommend to anyone in Montreal.

Our first time at Les Deux
Our first time at Les Deux Singes proved a memorable experience. The food is exquisitely prepared, beautifilly presented. A gem of a restaurant. Recommended the restaurant highly to all our friends.

Doesn't get any Better
Fresh fresh fresh. The food is amazing. This is a gem worth going to. The Lamb was perfect and the ravioli as well. This place is focused on the food and you can taste it bite after bite!
11/4/2013 4:00:00 PM
Almost every dish from appetizer to dessert was excellent in preparation . The food was fresh with some innovative combinations.
Very friendly and helpful service. It seemed they were genuinly interested in you having a great dining experience.
This place is definitely about the food, which is very refreshing.
11/12/2013 4:00:00 PM
well worth it
everything we tasted was delicious. We split appetizer, salad, entrée, and dessert (one of each). just enough. would love to go.

The soup was so good I wanted to lick the bowl. Everything was delicious... period.

Interesting bistro cuisine
Very creative execution of classic and sometimes eclectic dishes, never over-the-top. We tried 5 dishes in total and they were all fantastic. Presentation is great, portions are moderate but filling and the flavor on everything was excellent. Small menu but very varied and probably a great dish for just about anyone (would not really recommend for kids). Service was excellent and the prices were moderate considering the exceptional dining experience.

I have there several times
I have there several times bad the food is always good. Menu changes regularly so it is nice to try new dishes. The food is complex and it shows when you eat it. The staff are always a delight and will make your evening fun.
11/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
This was a GREAT dining extravaganza! The proprietor greeted us and said "Welcome! You will have fun!". And we did! Young Shawn, the chef, is astoundingly talented. The food was about the best we have ever had in a restaurant. I had the shrimp chowder with mussels, the veal, and a floating island for dessert. The 4 of us enjoyed delicious Spanish red wine recommended by the owner, who was also our server. She was so efficient and friendly and delightful and knowledgeable! We hugged her when we left. We already have told several friends they must go here. It is an experience not to be missed!
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great food & service
At 6 pm I was the first reservation of the evening. I was greeted by name, seated at the bar in front of the open kitchen. The two chefs were great to watch in the small kitchen; the sommelier/waiter was good with suggestions and checking that everything was tasting good. I'm a small eater, so I had 3 appetizers that suited me just fine.

Everything I hoped for
Had heard great things about this slightly left-of-centre little restaurant tucked away off the main drags of the plateau, and it didn't disappoint. Food was amazing, service was warm and friendly, wine was good. Paid a little more than I was expecting, but that included a generous and well-deserved tip. If it wasn't for the hundred other places we have to try in the next week I would happily return.
